----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The streets of the red zone were glowing their ominous reddish orange light, biomass was growing on buildings and parts of the streets, cars littered the streets, some dented, others still good, some were partially covered by biomass. A girl is walking down the middle of the street, her face concealed by a black hoodie, she wore a crimson red leather jacket over the hoodie, the jacket had a brighter red tribal symbol on the back which resembled phoenix wings. She also wore a white blouse underneath the hoodie and she had faded jeans, and black boots that reached half way up to her knees. The girl picked up speed and started running faster than the average human should be capable of running, her footsteps left craters in the cement roads, a building was in her path, she crouched her legs. She jumped and made contact with the side of the building, she then began running up the side of the building. As she made it to the roof she did a flip, landed on her feet and continued running.
“
My name is Bella Mercer. People call me and my family, killers; monsters; terrorists. We’re all of these things.
” Bella’s voice narrated.
Bella took another leap and began gliding through the air, reddish orange and black streams of mist shot out and into the air, then she did an air dash to propel herself forward again. Her hood flew back to reveal her face, she had long dark brown hair which was tied into a ponytail, pale caucasian skin, and chocolate brown eyes.

Two years ago I visited New York City with my parents. We were at Penn Station when a lethal virus was released at the same location. My parents died, I woke up in a morgue about to be cut open by two guys in hazmat gear. With no memory of what had happened to me, or who I was. Now I hunt; I kill; I consume; I become.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid flashes of the described events play through Bella’s mind.
She jumped off a roof and onto the street, the impact made a big crater and kicked up a dust cloud. Bella ran out of the dust cloud, completely unharmed.
“
I met a man named Alex Mercer, who like me, woke up without any memories of his past. We found ourselves on the run from some black ops military group called Blackwatch, we decided to stick together to figure out what had happened to us.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid flashes of a man with pale caucasian skin, ice blue eyes, and black hair. He wore a gray hoodie which covered his hair over a white dress shirt with the collar popped up and had a few buttons unbuttoned. Over the hoodie he wore a black leather jacket with two vertical stripes on the arms, a red collar, and the exact same red symbol which was on the back of Bella’s jacket. Along with faded jeans, and black running shoes.
Bella stopped running when a mass of growls and other noises rang out, in front of her was a horde of shambling walkers. Bella smirked and her eyes changed from chocolate brown, to crimson red. Bella brought her fists up in a fighting stance, she threw her arms to her sides and in a flurry of black and reddish orange tendrils, her arms changed into wicked looking claws. Her arms were composed of black biomass with some reddish orange glowing segments, spiky black biomass poking out of the arms, and her hands were replaced with four long metallic claws, three fingers and one thumb, the thumb talon being slightly shorter than the other three.

We learned that Alex had a sister named Dana, we thought she would have some answers so we rescued her from Blackwatch. She decided to help us try and find the truth.
” Bella narrated.
Bella charged towards the horde with her claws at the ready to strike, a bloodthirsty grin on her face. Bella pounced and performed the same slashing move that her Uncle James uses, in a spray of blood some of the Walkers were shredded to pieces. There were still more Walkers left, the tendrils surrounded Bella’s arms again and they changed from claws, into a pair of club-like appendages which she and her family playfully dubbed the “Hammerfists”. Bella slammed her Hammerfists onto the ground, producing a miniature earthquake that shook up the walkers, she picked up her arms and slammed a Walker, breaking several bones in its body. Bella grabbed another Walker by the neck and threw it to the ground, she then stomped the Walker through the torso and four black and reddish orange tendrils came out of Bella’s back, the tendrils plunged themselves into the Walk and converted it into biomass which was then absorbed into Bella’s body, the tendrils then receded into Bella’s body.
“
After consuming some people Alex and I learned about a woman named Elizabeth Greene. We thought she might have some clues to Alex’s past, and in turn, my own. As it turns out she was just the queen bee of a viral zombie apocalypse. Releasing her was a mistake, she was a monster, infecting everything she touched.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of a woman with pale caucasian skin, partially shaved ginger hair, and lifeless pale green eyes, wearing a green containment suit. Behind her were numerous Walkers and Hunters, and the Supreme Hunter too.
The remaining Walkers gathered around Bella and she turned her left arm into a claw and her right arm into a massive blade, Bella twirled around and swung her blade, cutting all the remaining Walkers in half. Bella then returned her arms to normal and began running through the streets again.
“
Eventually we defeated her and her little minions. But Blackwatch was about to nuke the city, Alex told me to stay behind with Dana while he took care of the situation. With the help of Captain Robert Cross, a Blackwatch soldier who we had encountered before, Alex snuck aboard the U.S.S Reagan to get to General Peter Randall, the head honcho of Blackwatch.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of a nuclear explosion in the middle of the Hudson River, with an Apache helicopter trying to fly away from the blast, only to be consumed by the explosion. A younger Bella whose eyes widened as she fell to her knees crying, with Dana trying to comfort her.

Alex Mercer, the man who was there for me, who helped me figure out who I was. The guy who I began to think of as a father, the only father figure I could remember. Was gone, at least that’s what we thought at first.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of Bella opening a door to be greeted by the familiar sight of Alex Mercer. Bella rushed forward and pulled Alex into an embrace which he gladly returned, Dana then joined the embrace as well.
Bella smiled to herself at that memory as she continued running.
“
Turns out he was just fine, he was able to regenerate from the blast after consuming a crow. Alex decided to officially make me part of the family, I used to be Bella Swan, but that life is long dead, my name is now Bella Mercer. After the whole fiasco in New York, dad decided that we needed to get away from the chaos, so we got out of the city and went on a trip. We went to a lot of places and saw a lot of sights. We went to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower, Hollywood, oh and the Florida Everglades.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of Alex, Dana and Bella in Paris with them on the Eiffel Tower overlooking the city at sunset. Alex, Dana and Bella standing in front of the Hollywood sign, all of them wearing black sunglasses and posing. Alex, Dana and Bella on a boat in the Florida Everglades, Alex glaring at a gator in the water with his right arm turned into a claw, almost daring the reptile to try something, and a bird sitting on Bella's head.

It was fun. But then, what we saw on the news, shook us. It turns out there was another outbreak of the virus going on in New York, and the news was blaming dad for it, saying there were sightings of him around the city. Which didn’t make sense because he’s been with us the entire time. We all decided to head back to New York to see for ourselves what was going on. Let me tell you, it was not easy to sneak back into the city. Blackwatch had declared Martial Law and divided the city into three different zones, the green, yellow, and red zones.
” Bella narrated.
Bella was about to leap again but an incoming artillery shell impacted her and sent her to the ground. Bella recovered mid-air and quickly spotted her attackers, a small squad of Blackwatch troops, some with rocket launchers, and three Abrams tanks. The Blackwatch troops wore black military uniforms, and hoods, and they had goggles that glowed blue.
“Red Crown, we’ve got Valkyrie in the Red Zone.” One of the soldiers said into his walkie talkie.
Bella snarled and tendrils surrounded her right arm, it changed into a mass of black biomass with reddish orange glowing segments and spike protruding from it in places, and her hand was replaced by a strange pronged claw, it looked almost like a trident but had four points, the two in the middle being longer than the two outer ones. Bella reeled her arm back and whipped it out, her right arm extended and acted as a whip. This was a power she and her family dubbed the “Whipfist”, Bella’s whipfist connected to one of the tanks and she pulled herself downward, the whipfist retracting itself, while still in the air Bella turned her arms back into hammerfists and performed an elbow slam onto the tank which caused it to explode. The remaining two tanks and soldiers began shooting at Bella, she diverolled away from a tank shot. She stood and the tendrils surrounded her entire body, black, or gunmetal gray, depending on the lighting, chitinous plating formed around her, which some reddish orange glowing segments, a biological suit of armor which barred an identical appearance to her father’s own, except hers obviously had more feminine aspects.

Dad and I had snuck into the red zone, it was even worse than when Greene took charge of the infection last time. We had encountered new Hunter variants which were dubbed “Brawlers”, and giant crow infected called “Flyers”, along with the standard Walkers. We had witnessed an APC get attacked, it had a taxi thrown at it, there was only one survivor. An African American man we’d later come to know as Sergeant James Heller.
” Bella narrated.
Bella could still feel some bullets penetrate her, but not as many and it didn’t hurt, as usual. Bella turned her arms back into claws and rushed forward, she was a lot slower in her armored form, but she got a big defense boost in exchange. Bella slashed and mutilated a couple soldiers, turning to one of the tanks she plunged one of her claws into the street. Seconds later, dozens of large black and reddish orange spikes of biomass erupted underneath the tank, penetrating it and causing it to explode. Bella yanked her claw out of the ground after the groundspikes went back into her.
“
We observed Heller from the shadows, what happened next, shook us both. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your dad had a twin? Someone who looked and sounded exactly like dad bullet dive dropped onto the street and began examining the wreckage, checking for survivors. Heller attacked him with a combat knife, this didn’t do much, just made the clone mad. We witnessed the clone lure Heller into a trap using a massive infected dubbed a “Goliath”, and did something to him. A Blackwatch helicopter came and picked up Heller. Dad went back to Aunt Dana to explain what we found, I followed the helicopter to a base in the yellow zone and infiltrated the place. There were scientists and they were conducting experiments on Heller, who apparently got infected by the clone.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid flashes of a copy of Alex Mercer, and Sargeant Heller. Heller being strapped into a harness and getting cut up by scientists with scalpels, drills.
Bella was launched forward by a rocket that one of the soldiers shot at her. Bella collected herself and turned her right arm into a whipfist, she shot it out and pulled the soldier in, she threw him into the air with her whipfist and then slammed him back into the ground, her feeder tendrils popped out and absorbed the soldier, converting him into biomass.
“
I watched as Heller was forced to fight for his life against hordes of Walkers in a test chamber, he handled them all with ease. Of course the scientists tried to burn him alive, but that only just made him angrier. Heller escaped the facility and encountered the clone of dad again, who at this point we began to call Mercer to avoid any confusion. Mercer apparently wanted Heller to work with him to stop Gentek and Blackwatch, saying that the outbreak wasn’t his fault and that it was all pinned on him. From the way Mercer carried himself, to the way he talked, I could tell immediately that there was something off about him.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid flashes of Heller facing off against Walkers in a testing chamber. Mercer and Heller in an alleyway talking.
Bella formed her right arm into a blade and charged towards a group of soldiers, she swung her blade and severed them all at the torso, blood splattered to the ground as the soldier’s lifeless and mutilated bodies fell to the ground. Bella then jumped over a tank and swung her blade downward, cleaving the tank and making it explode.
“
Me and dad decided to shadow Heller, watch him from a distance. We watched as Heller grew in strength and we actually gained some new powers ourselves. Heller is actually pretty strong, just as strong as dad, and a little mentally unstable, but the more we learned about him, the more sorry I felt for him. He apparently lost his wife and daughter to the second outbreak. Also it turned out that Mercer infected more people than just Heller, these infected which he called, Evolved, were in the civilian population, along with the ranks of Gentek and Blackwatch. We watched as Heller tore his way through the Evolved, Aunt Dana found out where the new outbreak originated from, Penn station, just like the fist one.
” Bella narrated.
The remaining soldiers and tank tried to gather themselves, but three Brawlers approached the scene, Bella stood tall and still, she changed back to her usual appearance and snapped her fingers.
“Sick ‘em.” Bella said.
The Brawlers then proceeded to massacre the remaining soldiers and destroy the last tank, pained screams rang out as the soldiers were ripped apart accompanied by the explosion of the tank. Bella just smirked at the display. The Brawlers approached Bella, Bella didn’t show an ounce of fear as she began petting the creatures on the head.
“Good boys. Now go off.” Bella said as she instructed the Brawlers to leave, which they obeyed.
“
Turns out it was Mercer who caused the second outbreak. He wanted to infect the entire world with the virus, because he believed that humanity was, in his own words, stagnant and dying. Mercer attempted to infect the city using something called Whitelight, Heller stopped him and Mercer tried to consume Heller, but he couldn’t. Aunt Dana re-established contact with an old associate, Father Louise Guera, who apparently was also Heller’s informant, and she found out that Heller’s daughter, Amaya, was still alive. She still won’t tell us how she figured that out. Mercer kidnapped Aunt Dana and we hunted him down. We saw him and Heller, along with some of the Evolved on a rooftop in the red zone.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of the described events were shown.
“
Mercer consumed all of the Evolved that were present, giving him a massive boost in power. For a while it seemed Heller was actually winning, though that all changed when Mercer began unleashing Devastator attacks. Me and Dad stepped into the ring to assist Heller, to say he was confused would be a massive understatement. The three of us quickly teamed up to defeat Mercer, with Heller being the one to consume him.
” Bella narrated.
Vivid images of James Heller ripping off Mercer's arms, with Mercer not being able to regenerate them having expended all his excess biomass. Heller grabbed him by the throat and formed his claws, he then violently tore into Mercer, ripping him to pieces, his tendrils popped out and consumed the clone.
Bella smirked at the memory, she hated that clone.
“
Heller wanted an explanation for how there were two versions of my Dad. Dad presented his theory. During the first outbreak we battled a creature called the Supreme Hunter, which possessed many of the same abilities as us. I thought we killed it the first time we fought, but apparently the bastard survived. Consumed and imitated Captain Cross at some unknown point, and Dad fought it again on the U.S.S Reagan. During the battle both Dad and the Supreme Hunter severed one of each other's arms. What was left off the Supreme Hunter must’ve consumed Dad’s discarded arm and became Mercer. Heller was suspicious but believed it, so we rescued Aunt Dana and Amaya. Also it turns out that there were still some Evolved left and with Mercer gone, Dad took command of them, I actually get along well with some of them, mostly those who are closer to my age range. The city is still infected to this day, but we’ve been trying our best to keep the virus confined to the red zone.
” Bella narrated.
It was late at night, Bella now stood on the roof of a building, her hood up and gazing at the horizon. Recalling the past two years of her life, she lost her family when this all began, but she didn’t even remember what they were like, plus she gained an even better family in the course of two years. Her dad may seem cold and distant to most, but he’s actually a caring guy. Her Aunt Dana, kinda spoils her. Uncle James is cool and Amaya is fun to hang out with. Her train of thought was interrupted when she felt both a presence, and the roof shake slightly. A deep voice then rang out.
“Hey princess.” The voice said.
Bella turned her head around to be met with the familiar form of her father, Alex Mercer, a teasing grin on his face.
“Dad. You know I hate it when you call me that.” Bella fake pouted.
Alex then walked forward and stood next to his daughter as she turned her head back around to look at the city, Alex grinned at his daughter.
“I know you do Bella, that’s why I do it.” Alex said.
Bella smiled softly at her dad.
“So Bella, what’s on your mind?” Alex asked.
“Nothing, really. Just, a little stressed is all.” Bella said as she leaned her head up to look at the sky.
“You wanna tell me about it kid?” Alex asked.
Bella let out a sigh as she pulled her hood down.
“It’s just work stress, Blackwatch, I encountered some of the bastards while I was going for a walk.” Bella said.
“And?” Alex inquired.
“I tore them apart, business as usual, but I'm getting bored.” Bella continued.
“Well, maybe you should take some vacation time.” Alex suggested.
Bella let out a chuckle.
“Ha ha, very funny. But I can’t do that, if I leave, even with uncle James and the remaining Evolved, it’ll take longer to get the city back in check.” Bella said with her head down
Alex placed a hand on his daughter’s shoulder.
“Bella, as your father I’m telling you, you need to take a break. Me and the others can take care of things while you’re gone, okay?” Alex reasoned.
Bella let out a sigh and looked up at her father, a soft smile on her face.
“Alright dad, but where should I go?” Bella asked.
Alex rubbed his chin for a few seconds. Then an idea popped into his head.
“Dana knows a guy who owes her a favor or two, the guy lives in a town called Forks, it’s in Washington, I’ll tell Dana and the others where you’re going.” Alex said.
Bella smiled at her dad and pulled him into an embrace.
“Thanks dad.” Bella said.
Alex smiled at his daughter. They separated and Bella pulled her hood back up, then ran off the roof while performing a backflip midair. Bella landed onto the street, kicking up a huge dust pile, she then took off running, occasionally jumping over cars and debris. Bella smirked to herself as she ran.
“Next stop, Forks Washington.” Bella said to herself as she continued to make her way.
