soojin has been stressed out the whole day she wants everything to be perfect for tonight’s partyShe’s been planning for it since yoonji told her about her new job at the universitysoojin is so proud of her“kook-ah come help noona with setting up the table, taehee just texted they’re on their way” soojin called out from the kitchenEveryone was here, except for yoonji and taehee who was on distracting duties“Everyone lights out, tae just massaged me they’re going up the elevator” jimin told them, everyone went to their places ready for when the doorbell to ringA minute later they hear the door unlock “What is wrong with the turned off lights” yoonji questions but then everyone yells SURPRISE throwing confettiShe looks around the living roomthere are decorations everywhere and huge balloons that spells congrats, a three tiered cake that has a mini yoonji playing piano on the topShe looks at her friends and meets soojin eyes “What’s all of this?”soojin gives her the biggest smile and winks at her“Just a little party celebrating your new job”“ you didn’t have to it’s not a big deal” she says as she blushesA set of arms wraps around her “What do you mean it’s not a big deal? Of course it is” jungkook tightens his arms around her “we are so proud of you noona”“Come on let’s make a toast” hoseok pushes them towards the table where a big bottle of champagne is placed therejimin opens the bottle and pours everyone a glasssoojin lifts her glass high “for our amazing friend yoonji and her new fancy job,cheers” they click their glasses togetherThe party is fun, it’s been a while since the seven of them had a party like this together ,jungkook and taehee are singing with karaoke micjimin is dancing in the background“Noona look, namjoon and yoonji are at it again” hoseok nudges her shoulder and points his head at his two friends soojin rolls her eyes “ I swear they’re hopeless, they keep arguing about the same stuff over and over, the tension between these two is unreal, kissing will solve all of their problems” “I KNOW , hopefully now that they work in the same place, they will get their heads out of their asses and realize they’re actually in love with each other” hoseok sighs“ probably not, they’re that slow and stubborn” The rest of the night goes well, soojin is saying her goodbyes to hoseok and everyone elsethey all left except for namjoon and yoonji , they decided to stay and help soojin clean up “You don’t have to stay and clean yoonji-ah, unni will do it tomorrow so it’s ok” soojin was picking up plates that were on the table in the living room “It’s ok I don’t mind, plus you hosted this party for me the least I can do is help you clean” she cleared her throat and raised her voice a little bit “on the other hand namjoon can go back to his place, both of us are more than enough to clean, no need for him to stay” she dried her hands “If you want I can call a taxi for you” Namjoon rolled his eyes at her, answering her from the living room “thanks noona if I wanted a car I can call one myself, no need for your help, and I will stay as long as soojin noona allows me” soojin sighed “god, you two are insufferable, one more word and I’ll kick both of you out” “She’s the one that started it-““/excuse you!/” yoonji interrupted him“Shut up both of you, I will lock you both in the spare room till you make up”Both of them threw a dirty look at the other and continued cleaning in silence “I can’t believe at some point I thought your bickering was cute, now it’s just unreasonable, you really need to fuck all this tension out a romantic way?”The elder nods her head again” “And you concluded this from what exactly?” yoonji is trying hard to keep calm, her Unni is talking bullshit she has no idea where it came from“I told you I have eyes, anyone can see that you two are into each other”namjoon scuffs “well I think maybe it’s time for you to get them tested cuz I don’t know in what world noona and I would like each and I fight and bicker, we’re friends but that’s pretty much it, I don’t know how did you see this as love”“ you talk like you two are always at each other’s throats, yes you argue lots of the times, but you always respect each other, plus you two always want to stick to each other, you think I didn’t notice” she smirks at them and they look confusedly at her “What now, try deny this, it’s true” soojin looks them in the eye“But it’s not??” namjoon crocks his head to the sidesoojin sighs “ namjoon-ah, every time I tell you yoonji is coming over or that we are meeting you ask if you could come too-““What” yoonji glares at namjoon “And yoonji does the same” namjoon gives yoonji a look soojin can’t understand so she continues explaining“whenever we’re together you stay close to each other, like today you basically spent most of the night glued to each other’s side whispering and talking in hushed voices, you respect each other so much, and you always talk how yoonji is the only one that can keep you with you, and she talks about how you’re the only man worth discussing things with, and you don’t want me to believe you’re in love with each other, I can go on and talk about both of you forever and ever, so please give us and yourselves a break and confess already” Both of them look horrified at what the elder said “Well sorry to break it to you unni but we DONT want to confess to each other , actually both of us want to confess to someone else” yoonji s voice betrays how frustrated she is “NO, yoonji-ah don’t get other people involved, it will make everyone suffer plus you Do you hear yourself yoonji -ah”“I can guarantee you that yes she does know the person I’m in love with like I know the person she likes too” namjoon addes without meeting soojins eyes“Loves, the person I love” yoonji corrects“ ok I’ll act like I believe you two, so you’re telling me that all this whispering is about your crushes, you’re giving each other dating advice?” soojin looks really skeptical“but both of you are bad at relationships ” They share a look between each other and sigh “not really giving advice more of discussing our situation”“And since when you’re each other’s first choice when discussing matters of the heart, you know how suspicious and unbelievable you two sound right now, not to mention those mysteries crushes that suddenly came out of nowhere”“It is what it is”“Yeah we didn’t talk about those crushes because it’s not something serious yet, we’ll make sure to tell you and everyone at the right time, right namjoon?” She nudges him“Of course”“Well at the end of the day, it’s your decision i don’t want to force you into telling me about your feelings but know I’m always there if you wanted to talk about anything” she stands up “And for the record I still don’t believe that this is all about you talking about your love life, I know you two are hiding something and I still stand by saying the sexual tension between you two is so real and you two should date or at least try to fuck it out of your system” yoonji snaps “DONT FUCKING SAY THAT AGAIN, ITS NOT A SEXUAL TENSION ITS A FUCKING RIVALY, NAMJOON AND I LIKE THE SAME PERSON”The words keep falling from yoonji’s mouth and she can’t stop them “ARE YOU HAPPY NOW THATS WHY WE ALWAYS ARGUE BECAUSE BOTH OF US ARE TRYING TO GET THEIR ATTENTION BUT YOUR JUST BLIND AND DENSE-” namjoon grabs yoonji from her arm and covers her mouth“Shut up yoonji ” he hisses at her “stop. fucking. talking” soojin looks at them shocked both from the news and they way yoonji spoke to her in all the years she known her, the younger has been always respectful, never raised her voice on her or anyone else for the matter, always treated soojin with so much respect and appreciation namjoon was busy trying to stop his noona from talking he didn’t notice soojin and how quite she became, yoonji bit the hand covering her mouth and before she could speak another word, soojin spoke “ I’m sorry I crossed a line with you yoonji , I should’ve kept my thoughts to myself but still this is not a way to speak to me or anybody, again I’m sorry I’ll never bring this up ever again” her voice was cold and distant face full of hurt and eyes shining with unspilled tears, “Unni I’m sorry I didn’t mean to lash out like this-” Guilt is eating her up right awayRegretting what she said immediately soojin starts walking on the direction of her room ignoring both of them, she stops for a moment and speaks without looking back at them “namjoon it’s too late, call a taxi and make sure both of you get home safe, i want to be alone”
“Noona, please yoonji didn’t mean it like this” The worry is so clear in his voice, soojin hates it “ I don’t want to talk about it, call a car and leave both of you, I want to sleep” She leaves both of them and goes to her room yoonji buries her face between her hands and starts sobbing “I fuckEd it up namjoon, I really fucked it up, she hates me now”“calm down she doesn’t hate you, she can never hate you, you’re her best friend, she’s just mad right now, it’ll be ok when she calms down” “I don’t deserve to be her best friend, I don’t deserve to love her” yoonji cries harder and namjoon puts his arm around her shoulder and hugs her close to his body, he wants to cry too “ I don’t deserve to love her namjoon, I yelled at her and for what, for her not to know about my feelings for her, go confess to her, she deserves a lover that will respect and cherish her” she hiccups “someone that’s not me”
“The fuck did you say!” a voice asks, it’s soojin Both of them looks up shocked, soojin standing in the hallway eyes rimmed with tears and opened widethey didn’t know when she came out of her room “What did you just say yoonji -ah?” yoonji opens and closes her mouth If she thought yelling at soojin earlier was bad, well now everything is worse “Noona..” namjoon tries to talk but soojin shuts him off with a look “yoonji, can you explain what did I just hear” her voice is calm and cold eyes fixed on her faceLooking at the expression on her face now she knows there’s no going out of this yoonji takes a deep breath, looks at namjoon who looks nervous and scared “What you Heard- is true unnie, I“ yoonji voice trimbles “I like you soojin unnie” “Not just in the friends kinda way, but as in I want to date you , hold your hands and kiss you kinda way” soojin stays silent, eyes looking everywhere but her best friends sitting on the couch It becomes too quiet “Please say something” She ignores her and looks at namjoon “So namjoon this mean you like me too” she says it more of a statement than a question namjoon face pales, he was too busy worrying about his noonas he forgot that yoonji confessing means he’s confessing too He looks at his laps, gathering some courage then looks up at soojin “yes I do ,just like yoonji I like you too noona-” “Since when?” soojin interrupts him, voice way too calm namjoon and yoonji share a look between each other, yoonji gulps “for me it’s been a year and a half” “And I liked you for a little less than two years now, just a couple months before yoonji did” soojin stays silent for a couple more minutes, then starts laughing hysterically Both the youngers are worried, they’ve never seen her act like this before soojin stops laughing abruptly and buries her head in her arms hands grabbing her own hair “This can’t be real” she mumbles to herself but they hear her anyway“This can’t be fucking real” she repeats a little bit louder “It’s ok if you don’t share the same feelings as us, we-“ “Were you ever going to tell me, like ever?” soojin asks, “ yeah but we didn’t know how, since all of us are friends, we’re sorry you found out this way, this was never how you were supposed to find out” namjoon lowers his head in shame He fantasized about how he’s gonna confess for so long, both of them have, but it’s all nothing right now yoonji opens her mouth to try to explain further but soojin beats her to speaking first “This is too much to comprehend right now, not to mention that all of us are tipsy, so I don’t want to say anything I would regret while intoxicated, this conversation isn’t over, we’re going to talk about this, but not now, I think all of us are too emotional right now” She stops, and stare at the wall “Sleep here, it’s late, we’ll talk later” They sense how serious soojin is so they nodded their heads without arguing with her She goes back to her room leaving them alone, “You take the guest bedroom” yoonji breaks the silence, “But-““No buts joon, you’re too tall for the couch, I can fit just fine plus I want to be alone”namjoon looks lost, “Please namjoon I’m done for tonight, can you do this for me, please” her eyes are red from all the crying she sound so tired and drained and he hates seeing her like this, he hates how broken she looks“Ok I’m going to bring you some pillows and a duvet”He gives her the stuff and goes back to the bedroom yoonji is left alone in the darkness to cry herself to sleepMaybe she’ll wake up tomorrow and find out all of this is, is just a bad dream
It’s around 10, yoonji hears some noise and opens her eyes, she tosses on the couch “Do you want coffee?” soojin voice surprises her She mumbles a yes and stands up, she doesn’t dare to meet soojin eyes, “Bathroom” she tells the elder and head straight there When she comes back soojin is sitting on one of the dining table chairs, a cup in her hand and another one infront of her for yoonji, she looks at her and her eyes are red and puffy from crying, yoonjis heart sinks She notices soojin choose her favorite one, a black one with a white kitten on it She gulps and sits on front of the older grabbing the mug and taking a long sip from it, she’s thankful for the coffee, her head hurts so bad from all the crying she did yesterday’s night They sit and drink without speaking a word, silence too loud between them “Unni….” soojin doesn’t answer, she just puts her cup down “I…, yesterday…” she clears her throat “I mean about yesterday, “ “Don’t, let’s wait for joon to wake up, this concerns him too, and I don’t want to have this conversation twice” her voice is soft but stern leaving no room for arguing yoonji mumbles a low yes and goes back to her coffee namjoon doesn’t wake up for another 30 minutes, his eyes also swollen He can feel the tension as soon as he sees them he stands awkwardly rubbing the back of his neckHe clears his throat to make his presence known “Good morning noonas” They look at him, soojin stands up and goes to the coffee machine “Coffee joon?” She asks with her back to them namjoon sighs “yes please” After namjoon finishes his coffee soojin takes all the cups to the sink and asks them to wait for her on the couch She brings a chair and sets in front of them “This is how this will go, I’ll talk and you two will listen to the end without saying a single word, then if you have anything to add, you’ll say it, understood?” Both of them nod their heads “Good” “I can’t say I saw what happened yesterday coming at all, for the longest time I truly believed you two were actually in love with each other so to find out that both of you actually like /me/ is something that I still barely able to comprehend” yoonji opens her mouth but namjoon squeezes her hand to stop her “we’re Not only best friends with the same friends group but also both of you likes me, which makes this even more complicated” soojin takes a long breath “Honestly I don’t think I know how am I supposed to act, what am I supposed to do, there’s still a million question in my head, and I’m still overwhelmed by all of This“ “That been said, i dont want to end up saying something i woud regret so I want to ask you both to give me some time to think about all of this and how I would like to proceed to answer your confession” Both yoonji and namjoon eyes bulge out at her wordsShe wants to think about their confessions, she doesn’t want them out of her life! “What? Why do you look so shocked, is it to much for me to ask for time to think after you dropped that bomb on me” soojin chuckles nervously yoonji gulps “it’s just…it’s the….” “What yoonji is trying to say is we didn’t think you would entertain the idea of it, after yesterday we thought you would be angry with us and wouldn’t want to talk to us let alone think about our confessions, so for you to tell us that you would actually consider it … is wild for us” “Oh who said I’m not angry joonah, I’m still mad at both of you and this talk is still not over but that doesn’t mean I would ignore your feelings, whether it was rejection or acceptance everyone has the right to get an answer for their confession” yoonji feels dizzy imagining that she actually might have a chance with the older like what are the odds “But for now I’m really overwhelmed and don’t want to say something that I might regret later, so for the meantime I’m asking you to give me a little time and I’ll give you an answer, ok?” She asks hopefully “Of course we will, honestly that’s more than we ever imagined” yoonji runs her hands in her hair “Thank you” soojin gives them a warm smile, it’s not like her usual big one and it barely reaches her eyes but it’s a smile nonetheless better than seeing her unnis tear filled one After this namjoon and yoonji gather their things and go to their houses The next week goes by in a blurr, yoonji is so busy with her new job, sometimes she forgets anything ever happened but it only takes for her to bump into namjoon to remember all of what happened with soojin
“Sorry I didn’t see you” namjoon apologies before looking at the other person “Oh ,noona it’s you” he smiles “Yeah it’s me, do you go around bumping into others all the time joon-ah” she teases making him smile bigger showing his dimples “Well not all the time, maybe most of the times” he replies “Walk with me to my office?” And yoonji nods “How are you adjusting?” namjoon asks “ good, there is tons of paperwork i need to fill but nothing to hard, workload is way lighter than i'm used too, so thats a good thing i guess” namjoon hums and theres a moment of silence He wants to ask sth but hes nervous He takes a deep breath and speaks in a quiet voice closer to a whisper “did you hear from soojin ?” yoonji tenses “no, radio silence since the party” namjoon sighoseok “me too, i was about to text her, but we promised to give her time to give her space” yoonji hums Theyre infront of namjoons office, his hand on the handle “Nonna, i think we should talk”yoonji tilts her head in confusion “ talk?” “Yeah about what we should do regarding soojin and the possible outcome of all of this” yoonji looks away “You know this is a delicate situation no matter what soojin decides, its not just the three of us but the whole dynamics of our group, soojin is our best friend no matter how you look at it its not going to be easy” namjoon explains yoonji knows he's right, but she doesn't want to think about it, she wants to bury herself in work and pretend nothing happened, she also knows that's a wishful thinking Their phones buzz ,Before she opens her mouth againShe glances and the screen displays soojin name yoonji gulps Apparently namjoon received the same message he reads it out loud Saturday naris cafe 10 am They share a look, soojin has maade her decision

yoonji woke up at 5 am, she has been too nervous to go back to sleepToday is the day , today soojin will tell them her decisionyoonji played the various scenarios over and over in her head, the good and the bad, no matter what, someone is going to get their heart broken, hers or namjoon or bothyoonji ended up dressed too early, she messaged namjoon who told her that he too was too anxious and finished getting ready hours ago, both decided to go to the cafe and wait for soojin thereThe cafe is calm and cozy,mostly empty since its 9 am on a saturday, the owner ,one of soojin friends, welcomes them“Oh you're here, soojin said you wouldn't arrive till its ten, come on she's sitting there” pointing to one of the tables on the corner where soojin was already sitting, her long dark hair is all over her back a small yellow bow on top of her headThey walk towards her, she lifts her head and smile at them “you're here” she checks her watch “its early”“You're early too” namjoon blurtsShe chuckles “will good to know i'm not the only one nervous about this”They smile at her and sit next to her“I already ordered but you can go ahead and get yours, nari will make them in no time”namjoon shakes his head, she raises a questioning eyebrow at yoonji “don't want coffee?”yoonji shakes her head “already drank two cups”soojin shakes her head “god yoonji -ah, its not even 10”yoonji shrugs her shoulders and namjoon smilessoojin cleares her throat, her hands wrapped around her cup“Before i say anything i want you to know that I care about both of you so much, and whatever your decision is, you still are my best friends and i'll respect whatever you want to do”yoonji feels she's going to throw up from the nervousness and judging by the way namjoon keeps bouncing his leg and tapping his fingers on it he's on the same boat“As i told you before i was shocked when i knew that you two like me in more than a friendly way, what you two don't know is that i liked you both way longer than you both have liked me” namjoon and yoonji blink shocked at herShe chuckles dryly ,looking at the tea in her cup “i know you're shocked, and have a million question about how and when, will its simple” she looks at yoonji and continue “ i liked you since we were roommates in collage” yoonji jaw drops what does she mean since collage its been YEARS “i knew you were bi back then and that you were already dating but i couldnt help it, falling for you was so easy but i never said anything, thinking it must be a crush that will go away with time, i graduated, you moved out with your girlfriend but you made sure that we don't drift apart” soojin smiles“I tucked my crush into the deepest corner of my heart and moved on” she looks at namjoon next“And then /you/ came back” she speaks in an accusing tone pointing her painted finger at him“you and your dimples and your big muscles and big heart”namjoon blushes “my little noodle dongseang came back all big and grown up, so fucking hot and so fucking mature” she sigh“And What am I supposed to do ,not fall in love with you?So i did, and i fell too hard” namjoon feels like melting, soojin always praises him, always showers him with complements but this is different, soojin is saying she liked him she was falling for him for so long“God joonie, you gave noona such a hard time back then, you drove me crazy”, namjoon doesnt know what to do with himself, he wants to pinch himself, because he’s pretty sure he’s dreaming and this can’t be real“ it went on like this for a while, and then yoonji became single and my old feelings resurfaced again”namjoon and yoonji are so focused on soojin“I was horrified with myself, i was falling in love with both of my best friends and didn't know what to do, i wanted to confess but how when i like you both, i was going crazy and then it happened”She tucks a stray strand behind her ear and smiles to herself“You two started falling for each other” yoonji was about to protest but soojin looked at her and shook her head“ i know what you want to say yoonji ah, but that’s what i saw, you two started spending tons of time together, especially since you two are producers, even when I was with one of you the other wanted to come, your eyes are always lingering and i figured out if i couldn't date neither of you, if i can't decide, that maybe the better option is for the two of you to fall in love” she sighed“Honestly i was happy, you two are so perfect for each other and if you ended up together that meant that at the end of the day i didn't have to choose between you two, it hurted a lot but it gave me an out”She runs her hands through her hair “ i rooted for you so hard, for so long, i blew hoseok ears with all the talking about what a cute couple you two would make” her voice is getting choked up with every word“I already accepted my fate that you two are never going to be mine, it’s been /years/, but then you two confess to me out of nowhere, you say that you love me and suddenly I’m back to square one” namjoon gives her a sympathetic look “noona…”She shakes her head“ I spent the past week thinking what should I do, this is something that I never considered before, I couldn’t choose back then and I couldn’t choose now, at some point I just thought maybe I’ll reject both of you and call it a day, maybe like this it wouldn’t be too bad, but I knew no matter what I do one of us will get hurt and I just can’t do this” her eyes are shining with tearsShe takes a breath“ with all of this overthinking I realized something really important, I don’t want to choose between you two”She licks her lips and looks them straight in the eye“ I want to date both of you”namjoon and yoonji just stare at herThere’s a moment of silent when they’re just looking at each other but no words are shared “ you want to date both of us???” namjoon is the first one to speaksoojin nods“ but how?”“ like any other poly relationship-““But namjoon and I don’t want to date each other!” yoonji interrupts“You don’t have to!”namjoon is about to talk but soojin continues “listen I know I’m not making much sense to you but just listen to me ““When I said I wanted to date both of you I meant it, I know the first thing that comes to mind is that you two have to date each others but that’s not the case, like each relationship is different and in our case you two don’t have to be together”“ I know it’s a lot to ask you to be in a poly relationship but I thought about this a lot and I think this is the best way for the three of us”They stay silent“What if one of us agrees and the other refuses, what.. what would you do?” yoonji asks“ it’s an all or nothing kinda situation for me, unless both of you are ok with this arrangement I won’t do anything, I just can’t date one of you knowing that I broke the others heart, that I’m still yearning for them”“So if noona and I didn’t agree with each other you’re going to break all of our hearts?”“What the fuck do you want me to do namjoon, this is the best I can offer, do you have a better suggestion where all of us can keep our hearts intact?” soojin sounds frustrated“And before you say anything, I don’t want any of you two agreeing just because you don’t want to take the chance from the other, l know you two are stupid like this and would want to sacrifice for the other, we’re not kids anymore,so please don’t ““ I really want this to work, I really do like both of you so much, but I know it’s too much to ask and this kind of relationship needs lots of work from all people involved, so I’ll give you time to think about it, and see if this is something you’re actually willing to go through, I’ll wait patiently for you”“And regardless of what you decide you’re still my best friends, you’re still my yoonji ah and namjoonah” she holds both of their handsyoonji looks at namjoon and he nods“We’ll talk about it, and tell you what we decide”“And thank you noona”Soojin looks confused“For loving us, for giving all of this a chance, for how you approached this whole situation”****** “So what do you think after all, do you think this is something we could pull off?”Namjoon and yoonji are currently sitting on the floor of namjoons living room discussing their situation with soojinThey have spent the last week, talking and searching about polygamy and polygamous relationships, laying out all the possibilities and outcomes if they decided to say yes to soojin proposal“ I actually think we can” yoonji looked hopefully at him“ we have to take things slow though, its true that I’ll take sharing her with you instead of not having any chance with her but still this is something new that i have never done before and yes I’ll put the effort to make this work, but nothing is guaranteed”“Yeah i feel the same, theoretically I know I want this to work but i don't know how his would play out when we actually do it”“I still can’t believe she thought we are in love with each” nj chuckles“Tell me about it like how wrong can you be, to misinterpret our crush on her”“When do you think is a good time to tell her?”“This Wednesday?
