“I like your shoes!” Eponine said. Enjolras jumped. They had been on a flight to San Francisco. “Th-Thanks.” “What your name?!” Eponine said, starting to kick the seat in front of her. Eponine was getting bored. The flight was long and she finished her last coloring page. Her tablet battery was dead, so she needed some sort of entertainment. “My name is ‘njolras!” he said. “I am Eponine! Do you like to play video games?” she asked. “I-I like to color” he said. “Whoa cool! I do too!”She yelled. “What’d ya wanna do?” She asked. “I know, I spy! Me first! I spy with my little eye something… green!” They continued to play until they landed. Eponine and Enjolras’s mom chatted for a while. Finally they got each other’s numbers.

Eponine and her family got to their hotel. They settled in for a while and then went to the pool to swim. “Hi!” Eponine said. It was Enjolras. “Hello!” He said. Eponine swam toward him. “I’m glad to see you again!” Eponine said. “Want to play a game?” Asked Eponine. “Sure!” he replied. “How ‘bout tag?” Eponine said. “Okay!” Enjolras said. Eponine swam super fast. “Ouch!” she yelled. She bumped her head on the side of the pool. “Are you okay?” said Enjolras said concerned. “Maybe.” Her mother checked to see. “It’s bleeding,” she said. “Will she be alright?” Enjolras asked. “Don’t fret. She just will have to go to the doctor.” “See ya soon!” Eponine said, putting a cloth to her head. “Will Eponine be okay?” Enjolras asked his mom. “Don’t worry, she’ll be alright,” she said.At the doctor…“Hello Eponine! What is the matter?” Her doctor asked. “She bumped her head really hard at the pool, and it’s bleeding,” she replied. “Oh no! Let’s take a look.” “It will be okay! Let’s just clean it really good,” she said. “Thank you, doctor!” Eponine said. “Your most welcome.” “HI Enj!” Eponine said. “You’re alive!” Enjolras yelled. They hugged each other. “Friends?” Eponine asked. “Friends.” Enjolras replied.

Eponine finally was ready for bed. Her mom tucked her in. “Don’t let the bed bugs bite,” she said. Eponine chuckled. She grabbed her stuffed animal. She fell asleep right away. Dawn arrived. Eponine was sad. She would have to leave Enjolras. “Goodbye,” Eponine said. They started to cry. “But… but… friends never say goodbye,” Enjolras cried. “I guess they have to,” Eponine sobbed. “Promise me you’ll never forget me,” he said. “I won’t,” she replied. “I thought… I thought it would end better.” “I guess n-n-not,” Eponine sobbed. Her mother had drag Eponine out. Eponine tried to grab Enjolras but failed. “Friends never say goodbye”

“I don’t want to!!!!” Eponine yelled. “We will,” said her mother sternly. “Come to me or we’re gonna leave you.” “I don’t care!!!!” she replied. “My hands are getting tired of holding the elevator door. I’m going to break it. Get your butt in here,” she said starting to get angry. “No!!! I won’t! I won’t leave Enjolras!” She yelled. Enjolras stared in horror. He tried to help get her but failed. “I’m sorry, Eponine, but friends sometimes have to face the hardest,” he said. “Goodbye Eponine…”

“Why did you have to make me leave Enjolras. We were there for such a short time,” Eponine scoffed. “Don’t talk to me like that,” she replied. “Come on, we’re almost ready to get on the airplane.”

8 YEARS LATER“Are you ready?” Eponine’s mother said. Eponine sighs. She had know this house for years. “I guess,” she said. “Goodbye,” Eponine said to the house. They drove off. A tear rolled down Eponine’s cheek. “Goodbye.” They finally got to their new house. Boxes were all over the living room. “This is a mess,” Eponine said, gazing around. She got out a knife and sliced up the boxes. “Everyone needs to sort out their stuff,” she said, picking up her phone and texting everyone that she was home. She didn’t have any friends. All she texted was her grandma and grandpa. Besides, she didn’t want any either.

A few days later, Eponine’s mother wanted Eponine to introduce herself to the neighbors. “There’s a kid your age. He looks nice. Maybe you could be friends with him,” She said. “Fine,” Eponine said, slipping on her slides. She took a breath and opened the door. “Hello, I heard that you moved here a few days ago. Welcome! Feel free to come in,” the lady outside the door said. “Enjolras! The neighbors are here!” She yelled. “O-Okay,” a boy said. He looked to be Eponine’s age. He had short blonde hair. Eponine gazed at him before she spoke, leaving an awkward silence. “Hello, My name is Eponine, what about you?” She asked. “Eponine?” He asked. “Y-Yes,” she said confused. “Were you in San francisco 8 years ago?” He asked. “Yes. Why do you ask?” Eponine looked at him. “Enjolras! It’s you!” She yelled just realizing. “You are Eponine! Do you remember me?” He asked. “Yes!!!!!!” She yelled. She ran to him and hugged him. “You look so different! I-In a good way,” she said. “You do too. I never thought we would see each other again,” he said. “Enjolras time for dinner!” His mother yelled. “I guess I should go now,” Eponine said. “No! Wait, maybe you don’t have to leave. Just wait here,” he said, running inside. Eponine peeked through the window. She tried to listen to what they were saying. “Can Eponine and her family come for dinner?” “Of course!”. “Go home and ask if your family can come for dinner,” Enjolras said. “Okay!” She replied. Eponine ran home. “Mom! Mom!” She yelled. “What is it?” She replied. “Enjolras wants us to have dinner at his house!” Eponine said. “Enjolras? Who?” She replied. “The neighbors,” she explained. “So can we?” She asked. “Yes,” she replied. They went to his house.

“Welcome!” Enjolras’s mom said. “We made pasta,” she said. Eponine smiled. She loved pasta. She dug in. “This is great,” she said. Eponine looked at Enjolras. He looked back they smiled. They stared for a little while until they finished eating. Eponine decided to stay at their house for the night. Enjolras sat on the porch. He sat and watched the sunset. Eponine walked outside. “May I join?” She asked. “Yeah, why not,” he replied, moving to the corner to make room. Eponine looked at him. She laid her head on his knees and went limp. She had fallen asleep. Soon Enjolras fell asleep.

They woke up. They jumped. “Oh… wow,” Enjolras said. Eponine laughed. “We should get inside,” she said. “Yeah,” Enjolras replied. “Do you want to go to your house?” Enjolras asked. “Sure,” Eponine said. They walked to her house. “Hi,” Gavroche said. “Is that your boyfriend? Do you guys like kiss?” Gavroche asked. He was playing Fortnite. Eponine stared at him. “Eponine told me you were hot,” Gavroche said to Enjolras.

He desperately knocked. She stayed in there for 3 days and then came out. “Eponine? What happened?” Her mom asked. “I’m starving,” she replied. She had lost weight. “Why did you do that?” She asked. “I just…” She lost what she was saying. “I need to eat,” she said. After that, Eponine and Enjolras went out of touch. They didn’t talk much. For a couple months, Gavroche and Eponine didn’t talk much either. Eponine was depressed for a while. She wasn’t the same. She thought she and Enjolras would someday get married, but that dream was killed by Gavroche. “Do you hate me?” Gavroche asked one day. “No, but you ruined my relationship with Enjolras. I love you, but I don’t like you,” she said. Gavroche was confused. Eponine hugged him.

One day Enjolras tried coming to her house and asking what happened, but she punched him in the stomach. That’s when Enjolras learned that Eponine had many mental illnesses. She had scars on her arm. She had physically hurt herself. She had tissues wrapped around her left wrist. It looked as if she stabbed herself with a knife. Enjolras knew she wasn’t okay.9 YEARS LATEREponine was now 22. She was now living on her own. “I’m hungry,” she said to herself. She went to a cafe and sat alone. The waiter came. “What would you like to drink young lady?” He asked. “A black coffee,” she said. “Ok,” he replied. Eponine sat and waited. A few hours later she almost left. “Sir! Sir!” She yelled. “What’s your name?” She asked. “Enjolras.”

The next day Eponine went back to the cafe. She talked to Enjolras more. Eventually he asked her if she wanted to go out. “When?” Eponine asked. “Tomorrow,” He replied. “Okay, that will work.” The next day they went to lunch. Eventually over the days they start to date. They never said they were, but they flirted so much they were. Eventually they got an apartment together. They started to talk about their past. Then they started talking about their friends. “And I met a a girl named Eponine.” Enjolras laughed. “Oh, I met a boy named Enjolras,” she laughed. “She looked a lot like you. Geez, she sounded like you,” he laughed. They looked at each other. “Is-” Eponine pause. “It us?” Enjolras finished Eponine’s words. There was silence. “The… chances,” he said. Their lips met.

They stared at each other. They kissed more. There hug got tighter and tighter as they kissed more. They stopped. Eponine walked away. She walked back over. They kissed more. “I…,” he said. “I-It’s,” Eponine stopped. “It’s o-ok,” she said. “I-I,” she walked away. She ran to the other room and slammed the light gray door shut. Enjolras ran to his room. Eponine thought about texting him. But she said to herself, “No, Eponine. Don’t do that, that would be stupid.”.

Eponine heard strange noises. She kept hearing doors opening and voices speaking. She ignored it and kept on playing a free game she found on her computer. She heard footsteps. She decided to call Enjolras ‘cause she was to afraid to walk out of her room. But then she thought, “No Eponine, what if they heard you.” She texted him.Eponine: do u hear the noises?Enjolras: uh yeahEponine: do u know who it is???Enjolras: I thought u were gonna tell meEnjolras: but I guess notEponine: open ur doorEnjolras: omg ur so stupid they might murder meEponine: ohEponine: yeah She heard a door open. Suddenly in the door frame she saw…

…Gavroche. She gasped. “Aww, it’s just you Gavroche. How did you get in?” Eponine asked startled. “You gave me the key,” he said. “Oh… I forgot. Anyways, what do you even need?” She asked. “I wanted to ask you something,” he said. “What?” She said, annoyed. “If you guys wanted to play video games with me,” he said. “You still play video games?” She asked. “Uh- yes!” He said. “Ummmmm, no thanks,” she said. “Ahhhhhh,” he sighed. “Wanna go out to eat or something? Me, you, and Enjolras?” She asked. “Sure, as long as it’s Mc Donald’s,” he said. “Of course,” she laughed. Enjolras walked out of his room. “Gavroche? Ohhhh, it’s you. I forgot about you! I haven’t seen you in so long. Instead of Mc Donald’s, why don’t we go to somewhere else. It’s called “The ABC Cafe”. Kinda a silly name, but it’s great, and I have some friends there, why don’t we go there?” He suggested. Eponine nodded. “As long as it’s ok with you, Gavroche,” she said. “Sure!” He said. On the drive there, Gavroche connected his phone to the car, playing, “interesting” music. “Gavroche, what song is this?” Eponine asked. “It’s Minecraft music,” he said. He was singing along. “People make music for it?” She said, confused. “Yeah,” he said, singing along more. They were finally there.

Enjolras and Gavroche ran in, but Eponine stood in front of the door for a moment. “It sounds very busy,” she said. “Are you coming?” Enjolras asked, holding the door. “Y-Yes,” she said, slowly stepping into the small, crowded building. “It’s very, loud,” she said. “Whoa! Nice!” Gavroche yelled immediately ordering food. Suddenly Eponine felt a tug on her shirt. She jumped. There stood next to her was a tall, large man with black curly hair. “What do you need,” she said, rolling her eyes. “Who is this woman? Is she some sorta joke or what?” Said a man with short brown hair and glasses. Eponine look into Enjolras’s eyes and gave him a “Get me outa here” look. “She’s my girlfriend. And she’s not a joke,” Enjolras said with hate in his voice. “Who in the world is this ugly woman?” said another man. Eponine couldn’t help but yell. “Get me outa here Enjolras!” She yelled. Enjolras gripped Eponine’s hand and Gavroche followed. They ran out. “What was that?!” Eponine yelled. “I didn’t know they would treat you like that!” He yelled. Eponine squeezed Gavroche’s hand. “We’re breaking up,” she said.

Eponine drove off with Gavroche. “Can I connect my phone to the car?” He asked. “Of course,” she said. “Isn’t this the one that is from… what’s it called… Minecraft?” She asked. “Yeah,” he said. “Why did you leave Enjolras?” He asked. “His friends treated me like… nevermind,” she said. They finally got out of the car. They were at the hotel they used to stay at, but since they broke up, she didn’t want to live there anymore. She snuck into the hotel room, and there stood Enjolras. “Oh… uh… I’m just grabbing my stuff,” she said. “Oh… I guess I’ll keep this room,” he said, setting his suitcase down. Eponine gathered her belongings and left the room. She looked behind her one last time, making sure Gavroche was following. She shut the door. She went to the car. She drove off. Then she realized, she had accidentally took the key.

She drove back to the small apartment. She set in front of the door and left a note saying, “The key to your room.” She got back to the car. Surprisingly, she connected her phone. She started singing.

That you found a girl and your married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things I didn’t give to you
Gavroche stared in horror. He scooted slightly away from her. Suddenly a tear found its way out of her eye. She blinked, but they kept creeping along her face. It stopped, turning into a wail. She had no clue where she was going. She decided to drive to her parents house.

They drove to the house. They they smelt the cold air through the door. “I remember,” she said. Gavroche’s eyes glowed up. “The smell!” He yelled, knocking the glass door frantically. Eponine jumped, the door had been awnsered. A young woman stood in the frame of the door. “Is this mom?” Gavroche whispered to Eponine. She ignored, as she was trying to figure out who it was. “If you want to speak to the Thenardier’s, there gone for month, come back then though,” she said. “Oh,” Eponine said, hiding the tears in her eyes. She got in the car with Gavroche. She burst out crying. “I don’t know where to go… go… where do I go?” she cried. Her crying cause Gavroche to cry, “I don’t know… no!”

They wiped away their tears and hoped that they would find somewhere to go. Eponine drove to a small hotel. Similar to her old one, with Enjolras, but a little nicer and less crowded. She got out of the car with Gavroche, and she walked through the automatic doors, she examined it before checking in, making sure it wasn’t weird, or possibly shady. Gavroche ran around, he still acted like a kid, even though he was 16. He was living with his and Eponine’s parents, but once they went out of town for month, he decided to stay with Eponine. Eponine had examined, and she felt that it was safe for her and Gavroche. She checked in, and went into the elevators, and there stood… Enjolras. Eponine kept silent, but she had so many questions why he was here. Suddenly she couldn’t help but talk. “Why are you here?” She asked. Enjolras looked confused, as he did not recognize her. “Eponine. Remember me?” She asked, in a mad tone. “Oh… Eponine. The hotel went out business. I didn’t know that you were here,” he said, trying to stay calm. “I’m Eponine, the one who her boyfriend’s friends treated her like…” she stopped before the fight got violent infront of Gavroche. “Well, I’m Enjolras, the guy who had an annoying girlfriend who has an annoying brother, and I was trying to be nice when I led you to that cafe!” He yelled. “Don’t you dare insult Gavroche like that!” She screamed in a threatening tone. Gavroche held back tears, after what Enjolras had said to him and Eponine. Eponine burst into tears of anger and despair. She looked at Gavroche and gripped onto his hand, comforting him. “Well don’t you dare insult my friends like that!” He yelled. “Well they aren’t right in this room!!!” She screamed, nearly punching him. She had one of her hands on Gavroche’s, and the other clinched in anger. After a while, they were all in tears. “You ruin everything!” She screamed. “Your brother ruins everything! He screams back. “What did he ever do except he innocently ask to play video games?!” She yelled. “I hate you… I never want to look at you again!” She yelled. She gripped Gavroche’s hand and left. She decided to rent a house, for her and Gavroche. She drove off in tears. They were both sobbing. They finally got there. The house was nice, and it was just them there, no strangers, no workers, no Enjolras. It was perfect for them. “I’m so sorry Gavroche,” she said, wiping away tears. He ignored, checking out every room in the house. He finally sat down with her. Eponine picked up her vibrating phone, and Enjolras was calling. She awnsered, going into another room, so Gavroche wouldn’t be more traumatized. “What do you want?!” She yelled. “I want to apologize to you,” he said. “Apologies don’t make up after all that you said to Gavroche and me,” she said. “Please… Eponine… forgive me.” “Never,” she said. “Never till the end. I don’t like you. “Please,” he pleaded. “No.”

A few months had passed. And Eponine started to… sort of forget about Enjolras. She hadn’t talked, called, or texted him. She didn’t very care. She always thought about getting another boyfriend, but she always disagreed with herself. She was afraid this would happen. She didn’t know what to do. She was stuck in a house all alone. They decided to go to Walmart. Eponine so lots of familiar faces. She decided to ask until she saw Enjolras. She gasped, it was Enjolras’s friends from the cafe that caused them to breakup. She couldn’t help but run over to him and fight. “I hate you!!!!” She screamed. Gavroche stared. He couldn’t help but just cry. Eventually the fight got physical. Eponine had fell on the ground. Her head has been cut. Enjolras gasped. Gavroche and Enjolras started crying. They went to the hospital. It was okay, but he felt so guilty. They cleaned it out and she was fine. When she got out, Enjolras had some things to say. “I’m so so sorry,” he said. “I-It’s-” She was interrupted by a kiss.

“Can we… be back together?” She asked. He nodded. “Where do you stay?” He asked, implying that he would stay with her. She gave him the address. They walked to the house together with Gavroche. They sat down and had a nice dinner together. It was spaghetti that both Eponine and Enjolras had made. They were back together again.

The next day all three of them decided to go out to eat. Eponine had looked at restaurants and their reviews and she found one that sounded good She had chosen “The Waffle House”. Enjolras had said that it wasn’t good, but Eponine said she wanted to go. They drove there. “I’ve heard they have amazing waffles,” she said. “That’s probably why it’s called Waffle House,” Enjolras laughed. They arrived. Gavroche ran around. There was lots of fights. Eponine grabbed Gavroche and held him back, scared he would got involved. She rested her head on Enjolras’s shoulder and smiled. “Gavroche will be okay,” he whispered. Her smirk grew bigger after what he had said. Her eyes suddenly switched fear, gripping Gavroche’s hand tighter. They walked up to the front. Suddenly Eponine found herself on the ground. Someone had knocked her over. Enjolras punched the person who had knocked Eponine over. Eponine immediately grabbed Enjolras. Gavroche giggled, while Eponine was a mix of stress, sadness, and anger. Enjolras took a deep breath and calmed down. Eventually they got their food. They stayed silent the whole time. Eponine ate her food slowly, while Gavroche and Enjolras ate at normal speed. They finished, then walked to the car.

Eponine and Enjolras happily watched Gavroche grow up. As the days passed, he got older. So as Enjolras and Eponine. He never got wiser, but that’s what made him better. Eponine and Gavroche made things, played things, prayed things. But no matter what, their bond will never end.
