"Hey, babe?" Jack laid on his back on the couch, looked to his lover expectantly with a little smile."Yeah?" Alex looked from the television over at him, unconsciously rubbing circles into Jack's leg with his thumb."Can you get my credit card for me, please? It's on the nightstand in the bedroom." He was currently on his phone, searching the web for something incredibly specific, but he'd finally found it."And you can't get it because...?" Alex smirked, raising an eyebrow."Because you're my loving boyfriend and I'm lazy?" He offered, making Alex roll his eyes. "I'll give you a blowjob later."Alex groaned, "Fine, but it better be good." He stood up, leaving Jack giggling to himself on the couch. He went into their room and turned on the light, making his way to the nightstand. He picked up Jack's wallet and opened it, when a piece of paper fell out. Confused. Alex sat the wallet back down and picked up the paper. He sat down on their bed and unfolded it, and his heart dropped when he saw it was a phone number.Of course he hadn't changed. When they were just friends, Jack had a habit of collecting phone numbers just for one-night stands and occasionally friends with benefits. He'd even gotten into a relationship once, but ended up cheating on her three months in.Alex really fucking thought Jack had changed. They'd been together for a year and he was seriously doing this? To him?"Baby? What's taking so long?" Jack walked into the bedroom, freezing when he caught sight of Alex with the number."You're doing it again." Alex stated in a dead, refusing to look up at Jack. If he looked, he'd start crying. He could feel his throat closing up and it hurt."Lex, it's not what you-""Don't call me that." Alex mumbled in a raspy voice. "Don't you dare call me that."Jack sighed, "Alex, I swear to you, it's not what you think.""What is it then?!" Alex yelled, standing up to face Jack. He walked up to his boyfriend and forcefully pushed the paper against his chest, Jack's hand coming up to cover Alex's, but he had already taken it away. All he had managed to get was the number. "What the fuck is it?!""It's the number from a guy that sells things." Jack cringed at how that sounded, but he couldn't give it away. "Because I wanted to buy something, I'd never do that to you.""That's a shitty excuse and you know it." Alex whispered, looking down at the ground. His arms were around his waist, trying to comfort himself."It's not an excuse and it's not a lie.""Then what did you buy?! Why the fuck won't you tell me?! Was he a hooker, huh?!" Alex pushed Jack, leaving him stumbling back."Damnit, stop it!" Jack yelled back, putting the paper in his pocket. "I can't tell you yet!""I should have fucking known you'd do this again! You've been doing it since fucking high school! God, I'm such a fucking idiot to think you changed!" Tears fell from Alex's eyes, and he made no attempt to stop them or wipe them away."I didn't do anything, Alex! I did change, for you! Fuck, I love you! I always have! I'd never give that up!" Jack walked towards his boyfriend, but he flinched back."Don't touch me! Stop it! I'm not a fucking idiot!" Alex's voice cracked on the last word, sniffling after."I know you're not." He mumbled, the saddest look on his face. "I'd never do this to you, please trust me on that. It's not what you think it is.""How can I trust you?! You of all people?! I know exactly what it is! Just another whore that you're gonna use like you used me!""Stop it. I never once fucking used you. I love you! I love you, Alex! Only you!" Jack stepped forward again, this time Alex didn't move."Prove it." Alex whispered."I don't know how.""Call the number."Jack shook his head, "Alex, I can't. Please, Alex, I can't. Just trust me on this please. Go through my texts, go through my calls, anything you want... Anything but that.""Then we're done." Alex let out a shaky breath. "I can't do this, Jack. I thought you were better than this. I trusted you.""Lex-""I said don't call me that!" Alex sat back down on the bed, putting his hands over his face. "Get out-" He choked out."Alex, please...""Get out!!""Fine! We'll call the number, okay?!" Jack shut his eyes, taking a deep breath. "I'll call the number."Alex didn't respond, taking deep breaths in attempt to keep from crying. He knew that would break soon though.Jack opened his eyes and picked up the number off the floor and went to sit down next to Alex on the bed, pulling out his phone."You put it in, then put it on speaker." He said softly, "So you know it's the right one."Alex put his hands down and looked at Jack, completely heartbroken. "I don't wanna hear you flirt with another guy.""I'm not going to." Jack bit his lip. "Trust me, please.""Jack..."Jack took Alex's hands and put the phone and paper in them. "Please."Alex sighed, looking down to put the number in. His hands were shaking, so he made a mistake a couple of times, having to backspace."Is this the only way I can prove it to you?" He whispered, still unsure about having him call the number. He'd planned this very differently."It is." Alex whispered, finally calling the number and putting it on speaker."Okay." Jack mumbled, listening to the phone ring. He looked down at his hands when the guy finally picked up, closing his eyes."Hello, who is this?" A male sounded over the phone, seemingly around their age."It's Jack Barakat." He spoke up, opening his eyes to look at Alex, his heart breaking when he saw the tears falling from his eyes."Oh yeah! Jack! Is this about the rings you ordered?"Jack cleared his throat, "Yeah, how close are they to being done?""Almost ready for pickup! All that I have left to do is engrave the names into the bands.. Alex Gaskarth, right?""Yeah, that's right." Jack got choked up on his words. "Thank you, that's all.""Yeah, of course! Have a good night."Then the line went dead.Neither of them spoke up or looked at each other, everything was so tense. You could cut the tension with a knife it was so thick."...Do you still want me to leave?" Jack asked after a minute. He jumped in surprise when Alex wrapped his arms around Jack's waist, hiding his face in his neck. Jack let out a sigh of relief, holding Alex tightly against him. He pressed a kiss to the top of his head."I'm sorry." Alex sobbed, moving to straddle Jack. "I-I'm so s-sorry-" He whimpered."Shh, it's okay." Jack whispered. "You didn't know, and I don't blame you at all for what you thought. I used to be a dick." He laughed sadly.Alex just cried harder hearing that, so Jack held him until he calmed down, gently rubbing his back and running a hand through his hair. It took about thirty minutes for him to calm down, now only sniffling with the occasional whimper."Are you okay, baby?""I'm sorry." Alex mumbled. "I should have trusted you.""Alex, baby, stop. Don't apologize, I would have yelled at me too. I understand." He sighed, kissing his head again. "I love you, Alex. I'd never do anything to jeopardize this. You're the only one I have eyes for, love. Without you, I'm not okay.""I love you too.. so fucking much, Jacky." Alex leaned back a little to look at Jack."I know." Jack smiled softly, wiping away Alex's tears with his thumb. "I probably should have just put his number into my phone, huh?""Shut up." Alex laughed quietly, pressing his head against Jack's. "I'm sorry for... everything I said. I'm sorry for pushing you too."Jack pressed a soft kiss to Alex's lips, "It's okay, Lex. I promise. Just please understand that you're the only person I want, and the only person I'll ever want. I need you, baby. I'm far better when I'm with you.""I love you so fucking much. I need you too... I probably wouldn't have kicked you out for very long." Alex mumbled, making Jack laugh a little."You're not ever gonna need to worry about that, babe."Alex smiled slightly, "You had engagement rings made?"Jack nodded with a light blush to his cheeks."I'm so sorry.""Alex..." He sighed, "Come here." Jack pulled Alex in for a gentle kiss, which he returned with the same amount of love."You're not mad?""No, of course not. I'm a little sad, but not at you. I wish I hadn't been such a dick, you didn't trust me because of it. You're the last person I want to make anxious." Jack kissed the tip of Alex's nose."I still feel bad." Alex moved to lay his head on Jack's shoulder, messing with his shirt."Oh yeah? I think I can make you feel better." Jack smirked, talking in a seductive voice."You do?""Uh huh." Jack stood up with Alex in his arms and laid him down on the bed on his back. "Gonna make you feel so much better.""You have my interest." Alex giggled."Good." He whispered, leaning in to his neck. "Because maybe you can't completely trust me.""Wh- Jack! Stop!" Alex laughed, trying to push Jack away, who was blowing air into his neck and tickling his sides. "Jack!" He squeaked out with a giggle."Never!" Jack grinned, nuzzling his face into Alex's neck. "Tell me you love me.""I love you! Jack! St-stop it!" Alex threw his head back, trying to wiggle away, but Jack only pulled him back."Again!""I love you! Jaaack! I love you! I love you, now please stop!" Alex snorted causing them both to laugh."I love you too. See? All better." Jack smiled, leaning down to connect their lips. Alex giggled again into the kiss, pulling him closer.Jack could buy the new acoustic guitar he was getting for Alex later.
