“We need to find a solution to avoid the closure of
the program” Cat took off her glasses “We have three months left and we still don't have anything to lean on.”“Was there a time when the show was booming?” J'onn asked. "Maybe there were a lot of kids interested in studying theater or being a part of the program?""If there was a moment like that," Cat stated as she looked at a photo on her desk. The millennium program they called it, the moment in which Cat Grant knew that despite the change in young minds, the theater was still alive. The most special thing about all the members at that time was their passion, their way of fighting to be and study under their tutelage. The hours of intensive training and exclusive diets of coffee and energizers were perhaps the best part of her teaching career.Cat still had news of her pupils, after all, apart from being apprentices, they became a big family. In the last show there were tears and hugs that were too long for the blonde's liking, but she'd be lying if she didn't think that she really needed them at that moment."Maybe we should call them for one last show." Cat commented on the air but J'onn knew the decision was already made.Cat looked at J'onn, the fire in her eyes reminding the man of the time he met the teacher and kicked him out of her room, not caring that he was the new principal, because he had interrupted her class.J'onn nodded and wrote down a few things on his cell phone before saying goodbye to Cat and leaving her office.Cat would deny at any moment the warm smile that settled on her face but she wanted her last show to be memorable.“The last great show.” Cat said to nothing before beginning to write the script for the play.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"Honey," Killian murmured as he walked into the kitchen, his hair completely out of place and his face scarred from a rather deep pillow talk, "what are you doing up at this hour?" he asked looking at the clock that indicated that it was still early morningLena looked at the blond, a warm feeling settled in her chest, one that she hadn't stopped feeling since they met in one of the rehearsals for a play.Killian was the first to accept it, asking very politely about the device on her arm and its function. The boy was always attentive to her, constantly asking her about her diet and making sure to give her food that she could eat (Lena simply said that it was packaged food that had a nutritional table on the back).Maybe that was one of the reasons why Lena fell for Killian so quickly. His sincere concern, his eagerness to know everything about her lifestyle, the care he tried to take when holding her so as not to put pressure on the quick-set that she put on her leg or abdomen.Lena sometimes remembered her childhood, being a girl with diabetes in a world that was too sweet had been difficult, but with Lex's help and Lillian's dedication, she had managed to overcome many of the difficulties that had come her way. But, despite all that, they could not help her in her love relationships. There were several, of course, who ran as soon as they found out that Lena had diabetes, others saw it as a challenge, a kind of challenge by 'having to put up with the strangeness of Lena' and then Killian arrived.Sweet, attentive and kind Killian. The boy Lena was sure she would spend the rest of her life with."Lee?" Killian caught Lena's eye.The blond looked at the black-haired woman with concern, the girl had stayed in her world for too long and that only happened when her sugar levels began to drop."It's nothing" replied Lena "I've been thinking about the mail that arrived""Which?" Killian asked. "The one that Cat sent?"Lena nodded and looked at Killian in the dim light. Too many feelings swirled inside her, all her feelings were just like Killian's: soft, warm, unique."Have you decided something?" Killian asked as he walked over to Lena and hugged her."I will" Lena replied, letting herself be wrapped in Killian's warmth and returning the hug "I'll need a few days while he left L-Corp in good hands and then we'll go back to the NCU"“Did you ever imagine that we would step foot in the university again?” Killian asked as he rocked along with Lena."I didn't imagine it but I should have assumed that at some point it could happen" Lena replied, following the pace set by Killian.Sometimes they just did that; they rocked from side to side, without following a set rhythm and talked, it could be about their day, about something they saw along the way or, sometimes, they chose not to say something and just live in the moment. Those moments were the ones that Lena kept close to the most. When they weren't CEO and Editor-in-Chief, other people's friends, people with a social responsibility. The moments in which it could only be Killian and Lena are, in the black-haired woman's opinion, the best moments they could live.“Cat sent me the first song,” Killian murmured.Lena let out a little noise from the back of her throat. The blond knew that his girlfriend was giving him all the attention in the world, they didn't always need a verbal answer to know that the other was listening. Many times their friends had bothered them for that strange method of communication they had between them but even so, it was something that only belonged to them.“I close my eyes and I can see the world is waiting up for me” Killian began to sing, Lena was lost in the boy's voice as Killian did little rhythmic turns with Lena.“That I call my own” Lena had her eyes closed and didn't see how Killian sang while looking at her. "Through the dark, through the door, through where no one's been before but it feels like home"“They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy” Killian turned Lena around and then brought her closer “They can say I've lost my mind”"I don't care, I don't care so call me crazy" Lena sang, the blonde looked at her surprised "we can live in a world that we design" Lena had her eyes closed, she didn't see the way Killian smiled at her or how the blonde tried not to cry.“'Cause every night I lie in bed the brightest colors fill my head,” Killian sang as he spun Lena around. “A million dreams are keeping me awake I think of what the world could be…”None saw the sunrise or how the sunlight illuminated the place, they were so wrapped up in their world that they forgot about the rest. Lena's head rested on Killian's chest, the black-haired girl could hear the blond's heartbeat and feel the boy's breathing. They both remained silent, the peace they felt being together was incomparable. It wasn't that the other scared away the other's demons, it was that each found a place to rest and let go of everything that wasn't them. The sounds of doors opening and closing pulled them slightly out of their bubble. “You stopped singing,” Killian whispered while continuing to dance. “You stopped singing too” Lena replied in a whisper. Killian laughed, Lena felt the boy's chest vibrate. They both fell silent again, simply enjoying each other's company until an alarm made them separate. "Do you shower first?" Killian asked. "Yes," Lena replied, kissing Killian softly before heading in the direction of the bathroom. "Could you-" "Everything will be measured by the time you finish showering" the blonde answered with a goofy smile. "Thank you dear" Lena knew that the boy was watching her leave and she did move her hip a little more, it wasn't her fault. There were moments when Lena couldn't believe how lucky she was. Her boyfriend was, without a doubt, the perfect guy for anyone and he chose her despite her strengths and flaws.Lena still remembered the times when the blond tried to be her friend, support her in a brotherly way and worry about her like Lex did.But they were never friends.Lena was slow to notice but it was Lex who made her see reality. The way they treated each other, the way Killian lent her their coats, the way he held her hand every time they crossed a street or simply walked holding hands, were those small details with which Lena realized that for Killian the black-haired woman was not it was just a friendship.Lena entered the room and took the device that she had in the elastic of her pants, after pressing several keys, she withdrew the cannula she had from her leg and put on a small safety.Lena took off her clothes and went into the bathroom, the black-haired girl looked in the mirror, the scars on her abdomen and thighs made her uncomfortable on many occasions and although she applied natural creams or formulas to remove them, they had no effect. But for Killian it was the opposite. The blond sang odes to Lena's scars and told the black-haired woman that they were a reminder of everything she had to go through to be who she was today.Lena learned to live with her scars, her fingers full of small holes that sometimes hurt more than a blow, with the burning sensation when applying the insulin, knowing that she could puncture a vein and she would have to clean it afterwards to avoid staining her clothes but … But with Killian she learned to love her scars, to be proud of them to show them to the world without fear of being stared at or discriminated against just because her body doesn't work like other bodies.Lena knew that it was selfish to want Killian not to have platonic feelings towards someone else, the boy had complete freedom to want or not to have a relationship with her or with someone else.
Sweet, attentive and kind Killian.
Lena shook her head and stepped into the shower, she let the water run as she hummed the song Cat had mailed her. The songs weren't difficult to memorize but Lena knew that she would need the rhythm to be able to give coherence to what the black-haired woman sang.Killian could hear the water running, the blond knew that Lena had to change or cancel hundreds of meetings and signing agreements to participate in a play for the university they both attended. The blonde fervently believed that Lena would never set foot on a stage again, so when he heard Lena say that yes, she would, he felt in heaven.Killian knew what it meant to lose those contracts but Lena showed him, once again, that there was something more important to her than the emporium his father created, even if that meant investors went crazy.Although Killian also knew firsthand (Cat herself had told him in a phone call) about the dissemination that would be carried out by magazines such as the Daily Planet and Catco Worldwide to increase audiences.Killian knew that Lena had no idea about that detail, Andrea and Lois had not given any statement about the play. The blond assured that the black-haired woman would be happy with the propaganda, perhaps not so much because he had hidden the information from her, but it was for the greater goo.Killian grimaced, he wouldn't be watching a Harry Potter marathon with Alex for a while. The blonde listened to the water falling while he prepared breakfast, chopped the fruit, weighed them and wrote down the weight on a small board they had taped to the refrigerator. The blonde was sure he would spend his life with Lena, the girl was too important to him and several times they had both touched on the topic of marriage, he had never ended up with something in particular but still they both wanted to take that step at some point.“ However big, however small, let me be part of it all, share your dreams with me ”Killian finished serving breakfast and ran to grab his phone, unlocking it and sending several text messages before returning to the kitchen, leaving the phone on the table and cleaning up a bit."Lee!" Killian shouted when he heard Lena's device start ringing. “Your MP3 is playing!”"What it says?" Lena’s muffled voice through the door echoed “And it’s not an Mp3, hon!”“You have to get out of the shower soon, your sugar levels are starting to go down” Killian spoke next to the bathroom door and heard the black-haired girl say some rude words before opening the door, the towel covering her body and the water dripping from her hair.“How much does it say?” Lena asked, taking hasty steps towards the bed, hastily drying herself off and putting on her underwear as Killian handed her the pump and put it on.“5” Killian responded, looking enthralled at Lena. The blonde watched fascinated as his girlfriend placed garment after garment until she completely put on her business armor. After knowing each other for almost ten years, Killian still found Lena Luthor CEO and Lena Luthor girlfriend fascinating to be two different people. The blonde handed Lena her pump, watching as the black-haired woman took off the safety lock she had on and put the quick-set back on and resumed the insulin infusion.“Is it a good idea to take insulin?” Killian asked doubtfully. The blue-eyed man knew the warning symptoms of Lena's hypo and could already see how her girlfriend was getting paler and paler.Lena squinted her eyes, Killian's figure became blurry at times and although the bomb had not sent a warning of the hypo, the tachycardia and the sweat that fell down her forehead were more than enough to tell the black-haired woman what was happening. .“I don't think so,” Lena responded, leaving the room. “Would you help me by looking for something sweet in the refrigerator? I have to call Sam and ask her to cover me at the meeting. I doubt I'll be able to make it in time.”Killian nodded and hurriedly grabbed a package from the refrigerator while keeping an eye on Lena. The black-haired woman was talking on the phone while she sat on the couch, Killian could see how Lena opened and closed her hand, making sure she wasn't shaking.Killian reached out and exchanged Lena's phone for the package in his hand.“Sam?”“Hey Blonde,” she responded on the other end of the line. “Lena told me she can't make it on time. Is everything okay?”“Kinda, she didn't eat breakfast on time and her sugar dropped a little.” Killian told Sam. Lena could hear how her boyfriend and her best friend started talking about what only they knew.Killian constantly approached and held Lena's hand or checked the device, making sure the black-haired woman's sugar level was back to normal. It wasn't the first time Lena's blood sugar had gone low, she really didn't even remember how many times her levels became so dangerously low that she had to be rushed to the hospital but that didn't mean the fear of losing anything other than blood. knowledge was not present.Lena had been hospitalized too many times. Since her debut when she was not even two years old, Lena was in the hospital approximately 15 times, more than half due to low blood sugar. On several of those occasions Killian came to visit her, but for Lena, the worst of all was her loss of consciousness. On one or two occasions it was thanks to Killian that she didn't break her head from falling or that she was able to tell that Lena was going through a low blood sugar in the middle of the night.Lena had hundreds of stories, too many to remember them all but in most of them she had two things: Killian and the support of her family. It was a world too sweet but Lena had enough insulin to eat it all.
