Our Pup Cub

Entire Work

Work Text

Varian was trying to get some of his paperwork done but was struggling to do so with how Lo’Gosh was pestering him while he did this.‘Our pup cub is upset.’ Lo’Gosh stated bluntly.‘I know.’ Varian replied stiffly.‘He’ll be asking about it, us.’ Lo’Gosh states next.‘I…know.’ Varian thought once more letting out a small strained sigh as he tried to finish some of the paper works he had been doing for some time now.‘We need to tell him; he’s too old ad smart to believe the same old story.’ Lo’Gosh pressed.“ Damn, it …I know! Just shut up !” Varian snapped hating how Lo’Gosh was getting under his skin right then, he wanted to finish his work damn it.“ Father? ” Anduin asked from the door looking a bit scared and concerned.“ Son? ” Varian asked feeling embarrassed and concerned at the same time by his outburst just then towards Lo’Gosh.‘Stupid man, now our pup cub will think you’ve lost your damned mind.’ Lo’Gosh grumbled and settled down becoming quiet when Varian shot him a mental glare.“Are you alright?” Anduin asked carefully.“Yes…somewhat…I’m tired son.” Varian finally admitted, Anduin nods at this before asking.“Is Lo’Gosh distracting you?” He asked carefully.Varian eyes widen at this while Lo’Gosh seemed to squirm at the question.-Varian told very few people he still had somewhat conversations with Lo’Gosh inside his mind namely only two people, like he had just now.One of them Anduin would never be able to pry the information out of him, the other would cave to his begging blue eyes and persistence in asking.“Genn told you,” Varian said with an aspirated sigh, knowing Mathias would never tell Anduin regardless of how much Anduin asked or begged him.“Yeah; I heard you talking…to Lo’Gosh a few times and…it was… worrying .” Anduin hedged carefully.“I scared you,” Varian said then knowing his son was tiptoeing around the subject.Anduin slowly nodded ashamed of being afraid of his own father then, given Varian didn’t blame him for it, and neither had Lo’Gosh they had known why he was still a bit wary.“Sorry,” Anduin says then, this makes Varian take a slow deep breath then let it out slowly before saying.“Lo’Gosh and I are still merging, we’ll get in one piece in time.” He affirmed and then motioned for Anduin to come to him then, Anduin did slowly once close enough Varian pulled him into a gentle firm hug which Anduin returned after a moment.“I’m glad I have you back Father and that we are on better terms now, but I…I don’t…I wish I got to know Lo’Gosh before…and not just during well everything. I feel it wasn’t fair to him and yet I don’t want…to lose you again.” Anduin says trying to explain but was struggling to do so.Varian understood where he was coming from on this a little, but Lo’Gosh was confused.‘Our pup cub wants to know me? But they already do.’ Lo’Gosh stated and seemed confused, given Varian wasn’t he understood clearly.Varian sighed deciding to play as a go-between for Lo’Gosh this once to help Anduin understand. “Lo’Gosh says you already know him,” Varian said then.“I don’t feel like I do,” Anduin said then leaning out of the hug a bit to look him in the eye.‘Our poor pup cub.’ Lo’Gosh actually whined in Varian’s mind then he wanted to comfort Anduin right then. ‘Explain it better in a way he’ll understand.’ Lo’Gosh urged then.“You do; Anduin; this merging I’m going through with Lo’Gosh it’s like a process of healing in a way; it had begun while you were away…and it wasn’t going smoothly before, there were rough patches that I was dealing with and had needed help with and still will, but it getting better for Lo and me,” Varian said.“If it is like a healing process then why is Lo’Gosh being lost during it? Why do you still…argue with him?” Anduin questioned.“I’m not losing him we’re just adjusting to each other as we become one once more completely. It’s like…a bone getting broken then heals wrong, Lo’Gosh and I were merging wrong before; and were the reasons for many things, many that I should have never done.” Varian said then carefully rubbed at Anduin’s arm, the same he had broken and hadn’t meant to, but did out of fear of losing his son, his expression turning sad then.“I’ve already forgiven you for that father,” Anduin says softly.“I still should have never hurt you like that,” Varian says in reply then looked at his son hoping to relay his regret for hurting him so, only get a kind smile from him then, but it just made his heart ache. ‘You didn’t mean to hurt our pup cub; he knows this now. Finish telling him.’ Lo’Gosh urged.Varian sighed then as Anduin leaned back into him hugging him tightly.“Thing was it was just like a broken bone healing wrong, it needed to be broken again a little to be reset properly. The ritual did that for me, but I’ll still have a few bad days and rough moments. So until Lo’Gosh and I are fully finished merging, I way argue with him bit still.” Varian said knowing this was true, even Lo’Gosh knew though he didn’t fight this fact, despite how he pushed Varian a few times until he was frustrated and annoyed, they both wanted to be whole again.“That…makes since…I guess.” Anduin said then, as he seemed to understand better now. “But I still think it’s unfair a little…I got to know you while you during the split, he was trying to come home, fought his way to come home, to come back to me. And now I’m trying to know him through you…it’s just very… strange in many ways.” Anduin says stepping back from the hug they had been sharing.Varian and Lo’Gosh both sigh mentally at this knowing how mixed up it all was. “I agree it’s a bit crazy if one thinks about it, but give me and Lo time; and maybe I should spend a bit more time with you than doing so much work so you get to know Lo a bit better too, despite the merging still happening,” Varian says then and smiled at him.“Not all the time, you still have to be a King,” Anduin says smiling back.“Yes, but for now maybe I should be dad, for the rest of today.” He says then stood up. “So what shall we go do?”“Let’s go to the park,” Anduin says smiling.Varian nodded at this he liked visiting the park it was peaceful to him, plus Lo’Gosh enjoyed the natural nature there a lot.“Lead on,” Varian said with a chuckle as he let Anduin lead him by grabbing his hand and tugging him along.‘Those nasty papers can wait; our son is far more important.’ Lo’Gosh huffed and yet seemed to smirk in Varian's mind.‘Agreed; Anduin is more important.’ Varian thought. Given he’d handle them later, but for now it was time for him just to be a Dad.
