As I stood idly by the window as the sunlight shone onto the room showing particles of dust waltzing in the air, I stared across all I could see from outside for a sight of Beethoven-senpai. If only he had invited me to come fishing with him, then I wouldn't be standing by, longing for his presence. Just imagine it - me and senpai living life in joy for even a little while. Far away from the crude, unreasonable man that is Mozart, living in pure bliss. I thought intensively how I would greet him, fumbling with my bowtie to look more approachable. I can't look dishevelled when I'm anywhere near Beethoven-senpai! Then, an idea struck me like lightning. As I see him walking up, I would open the door for him and offer to hold anything. Then, maybe I could help him unpack and store his items. But even so, would he be tired of me as I follow him around helping him for tasks that are far too easy for him? He would find it as an insult if I offered to help him with something he could possibly do perfectly with the slightest bit of effort! I figured to stop planning, as the more I delved into thought the less my plans made sense. Noticing senpai's fluffy, pearl-white hair from afar, I swiftly made way to the door. Maybe greeting him was good enough? As I heard each step of mine on the wooden floor echo through the room, I heard the sound of something rolling. Something getting closer by the second. Turning around, I was unfortunately greeted by Mozart charging at me on his roller shoes. Without much time to react, I let out a short, soon silenced scream in fury and fear as the dreaded pink devil crashed into me, knocking me onto the floor with ease. Collecting myself and finding the glasses of mine which had fallen off, I was hit across the face with great force with the door. There goes my chance to greet Beethoven-senpai in a reasonable manner, to redeem my image, how I wish things would turn out differently. I slowly began to stand up, still experiencing whiplash from being hit twice, noticing Mozart sitting down, looking at senpai."A gyoza cooking competition! Winner takes all! I must enrol, but I am in need of a helper to join - Someone must join and they should not disappoint me!" Beethoven-senpai announced, as I peered at him behind the door. His posture was strong, as he confidently fluttered the competition leaflet like a flag in war. There was a fluttering in my heart, as my face was uncontrollably beaming. This could be my chance to prove my worth to him!"Beethoven-senpai, I would be honoured to-" I started, moving out from behind the door and adjusting my clothing items to look professional enough to join him."Can I join, Lu-kun? Please? It sounds fun!" Mozart pleaded, his squeaky voice and his unethical words enraging me to the bone. Beethoven-senpai looked at us both, his adamant and strong-willed expression making the grandest of impressions on me."This is not for fun, Wolf! This is a test of destiny and will. Do you take this seriously?" Senpai announced, drowning my emotions in admiration. A lecture was long deserved for that tiresome troublemaker. I smirked, glaring Mozart up and down."Exactly! People who act so irrationally in such dire matters are not fit for this job, to work along such an amazing force as Beethoven-senpai. Clearly, I'm the only willing volunteer that will work under your name unconditionally." I remarked, turning to face senpai in approval in a smile and a bow. Beethoven-senpai nodded in approval, turning my emotions into a spiral of joy and excitement."Schubert-kun, you may be right. Fine, you'll be my helper. I'm putting my trust into you, you must not disappoint me!" Beethoven-senpai stated firmly. My torso seemed to have become a butterfly enclosure, my cheeks turning warm at senpai declaring his trust into me. Today may be the best day yet! Who cares that Mozart knocked me over, who cares for anything else? Beethoven-senpai finally trusts me! I felt complete, the world feeling mellow, putting me at ease."Aww! But I could've picked up some girls where we're cooking. It could've gotten me so popular!" Mozart droned on, giving puppy eyes that disgusted me more than charmed."The matter of fate is not for using as opportunity for stupid reasons, Wolf!" Beethoven-senpai ranted, the words spoken in such dire, admirably determined manner."Like senpai said, your reasons of helping him, as undeserving of Beethoven-senpai's gracious presence you are, is utterly stupid!" I replied, grinning and glaring at Mozart as they glared back. Mozart began sticking their tongue out in retaliation, taking me slightly aback at his rude, childish actions but also expecting it in a sense."It's fine, Schubert-kun." Beethoven-senpai reassured, his arms crossed. I decided to retreat my glare and look at senpai, smiling warmly. I suppose I didn't want to keep arguing with Mozart all night. "We should practice cooking gyoza! We must win!" I nodded as Beethoven-senpai began marching towards the kitchen as I swiftly tried to follow from behind. As the door was slammed open, I heard a scurry of footsteps and the whizz of skates approach us. When I found myself standing beside senpai behind the counter, we were greeted behind us with all of the other residents."No, stop! No cooking inside the house, I'm sick of getting repairs!" Kanae yelled, pointing their broom at us both. I glared them up and down, how dare they threaten senpai and take away his right to cook?"I don't want you to break my computer." Chopin chirped in quietly, their murmurs barely heard by the room. "I want to keep Jolly 2 updated on my gaming." The room then suddenly burst into an uproar of complaints. Why must Beethoven-senpai be held back by such nagging residents? If it was just me and senpai, he would never have this problem. No, that does it! This unruly, uncultured and uncaring mass needs a stern speaking to!"Everyone! What makes you think you can keep senpai from cooking? If it's what Beethoven-senpai wants to do, that's what he will do!" I yelled, glaring everyone down. Especially Mozart. I turned back to senpai's direction, as he finished polishing his flamethrower. I paused, I couldn't let senpai burn his gyoza with his flamethrower but I'd dare not oppose him! What was there for me to do? My mouth trembled as I thought of what to say, until I noticed senpai's brooding glare to the group of obnoxious, nagging residents. I figured I'd better stay quiet, and hope not to get on his bad side. "Now, senpai, should we continue to make the gyoza?" I blurted, attempting not to stutter desperately. I tugged at my clothes to make them appear better, as if I hadn't just embarrassed myself by the way I spoke. I slid closer to senpai slightly as the crowd soon began to take their leave due to their own ideals. Just senpai and I, cooking gyoza. I had always wished for this kind of life. I examined their method closely, it was far from conventional but it was truly charming. They would prepare the filling, then cooking the filling with their flamethrower, and then wrapping the filling in the, well, wrap. A simple concept executed in the most unorthodox way. I watched as the filling was burnt to a crisp, reduced to ashes. It was so admirable that senpai didn't follow the traditional cooking norms and followed their own, albeit quaint, path! I leant my hands out to help shape the wrap but Beethoven-senpai looked back in surprise."It's fine, Schubert-kun. I can do it." Senpai murmured softly, the way of their words flowing like a melody to my ears. I smiled uncontrollably, the room feeling significantly warmer."Well, senpai, what did you need me to help you with?" I questioned, smiling and swiftly bowing to him. Senpai, surprisingly looking away from their gyoza for a second, opened their mouth to speak."You could hand me things I need, or take things I don't need away. That is all. I can do the rest." Beethoven-senpai announced, his voice far sweeter than the tense ways it used to be. I was surprised, Beethoven-senpai was competent for sure but I just secretly wished I could help them more, to spend more time with senpai."But senpai... I hate to argue, but are you sure you can do it all-" I replied worriedly, being interrupted in the middle of my care-filled sentence."Schubert-kun. I said what I said, I can handle it. It's OK." Beethoven-senpai murmured, sounding slightly more strained as he looked back to his gyoza, fixing the formation of them. I was silenced, dwelling in the fact I upset them. How dare I? Someone as great and as strong willed as senpai can cook with ease! I'm babying them, no wonder they grew tired of me. Hours seemed to have passed as I stood idly, analysing any movement I could. Suddenly, senpai picked up gyoza by chopsticks and waved them in front of my face, he stared at me with eyes that I could only imagine was asking if I wanted it. I looked back up to them, surprised at the sudden gesture but excited nevertheless. I attempted to gently take the chopsticks, yet Beethoven-senpai didn't let go. I looked to the gyoza and back to senpai, as they gestured with their eyes once more for me to eat the gyoza. Hesitant and confused, I ate the gyoza from the chopsticks they still held. Senpai smiled in approval and put the chopsticks down onto the counter."Do you think you could move the plate somewhere, Schubert-kun?" Beethoven-senpai asked, their face dropping down to a neutral expression once more. Without a second to question, I picked up the plate of gyoza and wandered to the refridgerator. Opening the door, I was taken aback with a hoard of plates of gyoza. The thought of pure dedication senpai had to his craft caused me to smile, I was proud of him. Beethoven-senpai is immensely admirable for the amount of practice they do! Sliding in the plate and closing the door, I wandered to the sink where dirty cooking equipment waited aside to be cleaned. Senpai was approaching the door to leave as I took off my coat and rolled my sleeves up, turning the tap on."Good night, senpai!" I shouted back, smiling. I truly hoped Beethoven-senpai could sleep well. It was unfortunate that senpai didn't notice the competition leaflets earlier, as the competition was only tomorrow. Such a busy man had reason to, with as much ambition he harboured. I was met by silence as Beethoven-senpai paused by the door for a while, distracting myself by cleaning. I heard the door close, but senpai's footsteps approaching. To my surprise, senpai took his leather jacket off and gently nudged me out of the way."I'll do it." Beethoven-senpai announced swiftly, snatching the cooking equipment I held. I stood still for a while, my heart erupting into flame with every second. Senpai was offering to do my work! I couldn't help but suddenly harbour a beaming smile. As happy as I was, I slowly reached my arm out to help but was met with a stare by senpai. I retreated and dried my hands, then reaching for my coat. As I grabbed my coat, I couldn't help but stare at senpai as they continued to clean the dishes. It seemed so out of character, yet so amazing. Perhaps Beethoven-senpai himself was warming up to me?"Thank you, senpai. I will forever be in your debt!" I proclaimed, wishing to sound poetic."Don't be outlandish." Senpai replied, making me giggle quietly. He cared. I slowly walked out of the room, secretly wishing I could spend all night with him. When I closed the door, my smile beamed even more. Senpai was nice to me! I couldn't help but twirl and waltz my way to the sofa. As I lay on the sofa, I couldn't help but stare into space until senpai walked upstairs. As he did, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep. I wished desperately that I could be near him, to sleep in his room. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to. But that changed the point I was thinking of! I continued to dwell on the events prior for what felt like an eternity, each thought making me squeeze my fists in joy. I looked up to the ceiling, trying to calm down and get to sleep. I hope tomorrow is even better. My eyes weakly opened, it was bright now. My ears were pierced with the distant scream of a resident, Chopin I believe. Yes, definitely Chopin. I heard loud footsteps, echoing across the house. How could senpai get his needed rest with these ruffians? I wiped my eyes and grabbed my glasses from the table, delicately sliding them onto my face. I looked across the room to see Chopin, clenching onto the box hiding his face, being chased by Liszt. What on Earth will this day have in store for me? I yawned aloud, as the screaming and yelling continued."I don't wanna go!" Chopin squealed, diving behind the sofa as they curled up in a ball. Liszt approached them sternly, as if a mother to a child."I don't see why you don't wanna go, don't you want to socialise with others at the competition?" Liszt asked, staring down at Chopin."No! That's the point! I really don't want to. I'd rather message them!" Chopin yelled back, aimlessly kicking at them unable to see because of the box over their head. Liszt reached to grab Chopin, which scared them more. As I watched in pure shock and surprise, Chopin clenched onto the cardboard box hard enough, pushing his head to the top more, that they broke open the box. Their head, which was now poking through the box, was lined with fear. Before I could blink, Chopin ran off screaming upstairs once more. As Liszt followed, I slowly slid out of the blanket and off of the sofa. I must get myself ready! I can't possibly disappoint Beethoven-senpai! As I stood, I noticed a pink blur at the top of my stairs in the corner of my eye, my heart sank. In the split seconds I cherished without mishap, I watched helplessly as Mozart fell into poor Chopin, a domino effect that pushed Liszt over too. Closing my eyes in fear of watching the event, I stood idly hearing only screaming and yelling. I weakly opened one of my eyes to be greeted by Mozart, Chopin and Liszt in a pile at the bottom of the stairs, all shouting. There's no way senpai can sleep like this! I opened my mouth to give them all a stern talking to, until I noticed a figure at the top of the stairs. The figure's hands grasped strongly onto a flamethrower, the figure's fluffy, pearly-white hair intricately distracting. I found myself staring deeply at them, for it was Beethoven-senpai! I noticed something off about their face, until I noticed their charming face was vandalised by pink markers. It must be Mozart's doing! I stormed over to the pile, glaring daggers at that crude man."Don't worry, senpai! I can deal with this, you need your rest!" I sweetly called up, smiling at senpai but immediately looking down to stare at Mozart once more."It's fine, Schubert-kun." Senpai hissed in frustration, I looked up in worried surprise and promptly moved slightly away from the scene. I can't risk upset him! The squirming pile of people soon disbanded as they stood up one by one, being stared down by senpai who stood frozen in fury. I looked on in anticipation as Mozart began laughing hysterically at Beethoven-senpai's face. How childish were they? Senpai didn't find it funny!"Why don't you find it funny, Lu-kun? I made you a cat!" Mozart giggled onwards. I looked up at senpai's face one more, as it was lined with more fury. Yes, I see it now, those nonsensical pink scribbles began to make sense. As Mozart opened their mouth to speak once more, senpai threw themselves down the stairs, letting the flamethrower alight as they yelled Mozart's name. Such unexpected movement must have terrified Chopin, as they ran away screaming leaving Liszt to catch up to them. Mozart then slid off as senpai chased them with almost murderous intent. That's my senpai! But then again, there I was alone once more as they all scattered in different directions. What a shame to be stuck in a house with such awful residents. In the distance, I heard the yelling of our landlord alongside the powerful flames of Beethoven-senpai's flamethrower. I could only imagine what was happening out of my view. Regaining my senses and avoiding being curious as best as I could, I began scaling the stairs to have a bath, I was going to need it. As I stepped upwards, looking down to the floor as I planned what to do, I found myself bumping into something. Looking up, I was greeted with... Wait, who was he again? Ah, yes. I remember now. Sousuke!"Oh, hi Schu-san. Are you taking a bath?" Sousuke asked, readjusting their grip on Pad-kun. I nodded, smiling. "Try not to become a fish this time." My smile faltered, as I nodded once more."I won't!" I replied, now thinking of how becoming a fish could ruin senpai's day. I must be careful! That's it, I won't sing at all whilst having a bath in case I get carried away. I then scurried up the stairs quickly, leaving Sousuke and Pad-kun to walk away. I can't become a fish, any day but today! Sliding into the bathroom, sighing, I placed my glasses aside. I hope senpai will be proud of me.As I eventually dried off, I reached for my glasses once more and slid them on my face. The clothes felt a lot softer than I had given them credit for, alongside the bright day simply made me feel at ease. Opening the door, I was drowned with the sound of more yelling. It was a miracle these people could even speak anymore. I peered down to the living room, watching as Beethoven-senpai was unsuccessful in convincing Chopin and Sousuke to eat his gyoza. How outrageous is that, senpai must've worked hard to cook it for them! How ungrateful! I clambered down the stairs, not looking away from senpai for a second."There you are, Schubert-kun." Beethoven-senpai announced as they approached me. I smiled as they held the plate of gyoza over to me. Politely accepting it, I placed a couple in my mouth. Although I never liked the taste of ashes, I appreciated his hard work wholeheartedly. As I swallowed the food, senpai turned away to face the two looking onwards."Where's the girl? We need to get to the competition soon." Beethoven-senpai questioned. His question was truly reasonable, our landlord was here not that long ago!"Oh, Kanae? She went to the store earlier. She won't be back for a while. Don't we have a skateboard somewhere? Maybe you could use that to get there quicker." Sousuke mentioned, looking at Chopin. "Where... Is the skateboard?" Chopin looked back, thinking."It's in my bedroom. I don't know why." Chopin murmured, tucking themselves up even more. Senpai and I looked at one another in understanding, as we both went upstairs to Chopin's room. It was simply magnificent how we could understand one another so easily! As we entered the dim room, we noticed it was lit up by a computer monitor. On the screen was Jolly 2, waiting idly for Chopin to come back and resume conversation. Brushing it off as normal, senpai picked up the skateboard and kindly kept the door open for me too come through. How sweet! I offered to hold the skateboard, almost whispering in worry of troubling him, yet was met by a calm shake of his head.As we opened the front door, I waved goodbye to Sousuke and Chopin. Sousuke had gladly waved, yet Chopin just stared and huffed. We were drowned by the bright light of the sun, which made Beethoven-senpai look radiant. I was also quite glad the markings from his face were rubbed off too, for if he kept it on I would find it hard to imagine how embarrassed they'd feel!"Senpai... Why are none of the others coming with?" I murmured, quite confused. Beethoven-senpai looked back at me in a sudden jerk."We get there earlier to set up." Senpai informed, looking away from me once more. As we tread across the path, dragging the skateboard, I realised very quickly that it was just me and senpai, alone at long last. I would've wondered where that pesky Mozart was, but I'd rather not involve myself in worrying about him of all people. The world felt ultimately brighter and far more vibrant, for my senpai was accompanying me all day! The thought just begged me to squeal and twirl in joy, yet I kept my composure near senpai. As we got onto the street, senpai placed the skateboard on the floor, gently stooping his foot atop the deck. He looked so charming without even realising it. Senpai turned to me, gesturing to give me a piggy-back ride. I froze in shock and pure joy, this moment felt truly dreamlike! Without much more hesitation, I jumped onto his back as he caught me. This day simply couldn't get better, could it? The thought of it getting better excited me even more!"Schubert-kun, I'm glad you can understand my cues." Senpai blurted, causing my face to flare up in even more of a blush than before. Beethoven-senpai is glad I understand him! Oh, this day really could get better! I gripped tight onto senpai, feeling warmth from him. I rested my head on his shoulder, a smile growing bigger with each second. Without many more seconds to brace myself, Beethoven-senpai dashed off as I gripped on, sliding across the floor on the skateboard. It was truly a wonder how senpai could hold me and slide along on the skateboard, but I dare not be too surprised. After all, senpai is an amazing man! They're so talented in many fields I would never expect, of course they can do this with ease! The world around me blurred as we dashed onwards, Beethoven-senpai's hair fluttering in the breeze. It was a shock just to be holding onto him, as warm and as gentle he really was. A pleasant shock in every way. The cold winds brushed against us, cooling me off slightly despite how warm I felt. Oh, how I wished this moment would last forever. The world, which had once seemed so dull and meaningless, was bursting with colour - a spectacle that was only ours. Just senpai and I at a lone street, as our surroundings became a blurry flash. Oh dear, any more of this and I'll simply have an outburst with my musik! Yet again, I'd love to keep breathing the moment in, for it was a moment I had wished for all my life. As much as I would've loved to speak to senpai in the moment, I feared the thunderous whizzing as we brushed through the air would deafen my voice. Although the sights around us were surely beautiful, I couldn't help but find myself staring at Beethoven-senpai instead. Something about him was magnetic, so amazing to be around. I noticed Senpai looked back, making sure I was alright every couple of minutes. His charming emerald eyes twinkled in the sunlight, a sight I surely cherished. At random times, I found myself slipping off of senpai slightly, and each time I would hold onto him much tighter than before. I worried that my grasp would eventually start to hurt Beethoven-senpai, but I wished not to find myself away from him. This moment was perfect. After a long while of calming yet exciting silence, we found ourselves at a halt. Could this be where the competition is held? I looked at senpai in reassurance, which they seemed to have noticed. They slowly stepped off of the skateboard, gently sliding me off of his back."Thank you, senpai!" I announced, my smile beaming. Senpai looked back and showed a small smile, before looking back as he marched onwards to the door of the building. I followed behind eagerly, my footsteps gentle and quick. Beethoven-senpai opened the door, looking back at me as if to tell me I could pass through. I looked down to the floor, smiling uncontrollably. If I hadn't felt butterflies in my stomach beforehand, I most definitely felt it now. I paused before I entered the building, staring deep into his eyes. I stuttered for a moment, thinking intensively about what to say. I felt I was smiling from ear to ear, as I truly felt cared for in his presence. "Thank you, again. It means a lot to me." I blurted out, my face turning to a deep shade of red as the words flowed from my mouth. Senpai's eyes suddenly had a spark to them, a twinkle only I could notice. It was a crack in a façade he held, a crack that showed his sweeter side perhaps? The thought drove me in circles in the milliseconds it lasted, and I didn't want to jump to conclusions. I noticed senpai's mouth twitch, as if he was to burst into a wide smile yet fighting against it for some reason. I chose not to say a word, as from his eyes I knew exactly how he felt. I slid into the building, looking back at Beethoven-senpai for as long as I could. I noticed he took a breath out as I ventured further from him, looking away from me. I noticed, as he turned away, a hint of a smile. My heart felt set, as the world around me became much more vibrant in his vicinity. I held my hand to my coat, holding tight as I fought back the urge to squeal. As senpai approached, I still saw glimpses of senpai's broken façade, his softer side growing increasingly obvious. I could just imagine how sparkly and hopeful in adoration my eyes were. Senpai then marched forward, moving in front of me in what I would guess was an attempt to divert his own attention. We peered further on to the kitchen, as other competitors prepared. By now, the sun had started to set, which covered everything in it's path with a golden tint. The way the light reflected from senpai's eyes was mesmerising, yet I somehow still found myself lost in them without the light. I swiftly sprinted in front of him, latching onto the kitchen door to open it. Senpai looked surprised, and stopped walking for a second. As he approached, he simply just stared as his mouth opened. I smiled warmly, hoping to seem inviting."Schubert-kun, you... You didn't have to. Thank you." Beethoven-senpai murmured, the first time I had ever seen him at a loss of words."It would be rude of me not to return the favour, senpai!" I responded, looking upon senpai in adoration. Beethoven-senpai jerked his head to the floor, biting his cheek as his cheeks noticeably reddened. He walked off in a hurry, leaving me alone but not at all lonely. I closed the door gently and caught up to him, deciding to maintain eye contact with the floor as he did. As we found an empty station, we found the equipment provided by the hosts sparkling and displayed on the counter. Looking over at the other competitors, I had slight doubts we would win. Senpai, of course, was amazing in his work and was truly a challenge, but being surrounded by professional chefs was daunting. Then, I heard a thunderous tap of a microphone, making me jump. Turning around, we noticed 2 seemingly young figures standing in the middle of the kitchen, one was a blonde-haired little girl with blue attire, and the other a taller girl with black hair and a red plaid skirt. It was Tchaiko-chan and Bada-chan! Looking at the judge table, two people sat patiently. One tall and wearing a dark shade of blue, wearing glasses and a wig - most definitely Bach-sama. The other was a woman with dark hair, with shades of pink highlighting it. Wasn't that this 'Mitsuru' lady? It must be. Tchaiko snatched onto the microphone, projecting her voice into it."Hello everyone! Glad you could make it to the competition-" Tchaiko stated, smiling before Bada snatched the microphone back, continuing her statement as Tchaiko was slightly heard arguing."It's amazing to have you all here! Now, if we could just explain some rules- hey, Tchaiko, get off!" Bada yelled, wrestling the microphone off of Tchaiko. The two pushed each other around for a while, before starting to yell."Get off, old man!" Bada screamed, grabbing the microphone and raising it above her head, where Tchaiko began to jump, attempting to reach."Put the microphone down you stupid one-hit wonder!" Tchaiko argued back, their voices sounding deafening as they were picked up by the microphone. I couldn't help but grasp onto my ears at the unwanted noise. What ruffians! I must imagine senpai, as great as he is, must feel embarrassed to be anywhere near these two. Tchaiko then began pulling at Bada's raised arm, attempting desperately to reach the microphone. In a stroke of luck, Tchaiko managed to grab onto the microphone as Bada's arm grew tired."We don't have that many rules, but make sure you don't interfere with other competitors or bring already cooked gyoza in!" Tchaiko mentioned swiftly, being cut off by Bada's arm regaining strength."At this table sits the judges, including us, where your food will be given at the end! Take a wave, judges!" Bada announced, smiling with a hint of irritability. Bach-sama and Mitsuru looked up, ashamed and embarrassed but still waving with a smile. Senpai and I exchanged short eye contact, both our faces displeased with the display. Tchaiko then jumped onto Bada's back and moved the microphone to her mouth aggressively."Without further ado, we must now open the doors to the audience!" Tchaiko called, slapping Bada's other hand away, as it tried to pull her off. In a scurry of arguing and fighting, they both left the kitchen to greet the guests. I turned to Beethoven-senpai, trying to have an open smile to distract them from the disastrous event."Senpai, shall we get our aprons on?" I asked, trying to divert his attention. Senpai nodded, and began taking his jacket off. I, too, took my jacket off and looked around to find some aprons. Noticing a clothing hanger with some aprons on display, I decided to take two. Putting my apron on, I then gave Beethoven-senpai his after he took off his bandana scarf, to which he promptly put it on. I turned to face where the entrance was, hearing the murmurs of crowds. There was a window for the audience to look into the kitchen, and from it I looked closely. I noticed a hat, pink and decorated in pins. Mozart. As awful of a sign as it was, it let us know that the Otowa Mansion residents arrived safely. They began to take their seats, with each of them varying in their excitement. Liszt, especially, seemed to be excited for the event. As Liszt noticed us, they waved and smiled."Good luck boys!" Liszt cooed, projecting their voice like a proud mother. I noticed Chopin wasn't present, but I decided not to pay much attention as Chopin could've easily stayed behind. As Liszt started clapping, the others at the seat noticed us. Sousuke and Mozart seemed excited to an extent, but Mozart seemed more interested in the women sitting behind him. Kanae seemed excited also, but she was attempting to stop Mozart from bothering the women he so desperately tried to impress. I looked over to Tchaiko and Bada, seemingly pushing each other in front of the crowd. They tried to hush the crowd, which was a sea of murmurs because of the excitement. Unfortunately, the chatter far overpowered their calls. In a fit of annoyance, Tchaiko yelled out to the crowd."Shut up already!" Tchaiko called out, staring down all who spoke. The crowd suddenly went silent, as an atmosphere of fear grew imminent. Tchaiko huffed, and then put on a clearly irritated smile. "Welcome to the annual gyoza cooking competition!" Bada, now looking around at the silent room, tried to smile alongside."We're so glad you could come! As you know, this competition is to demonstrate the cooking skills of many strangers in our community!" Bada chimed in, slightly nudging Tchaiko behind her. Tchaiko opened her mouth to speak, yet was silenced by Bada's hand now clamped over her mouth. "So sit back, relax, and enjoy experiencing and watching the chefs do their magic!" Tchaiko pushed Bada's hand off of her mouth, looking even more furious."Yeah yeah, sitting idly for ages while you watch people cook and you can't have any of it." Tchaiko hissed snarkily, crossing their arms impatiently. Bada turned to Tchaiko, seemingly annoyed."Which is why we have an all-you-can-eat buffet, located just about..." Bada murmured, trying to keep composure as they scanned the room. "There!" Bada pointed to a table with an assortment of food, none of which looked particularly interesting. All of them looking like food items for a kid's birthday party, with an array of sandwiches and fridge-kept snacks that would soon go stale. It was truly sad. Tchaiko stared at Bada, pulling a face that only spoke the words; "It looks terrible.""Whatever, let's just get this over with." Tchaiko murmured, turning away and heading back to the kitchen. I looked to the judges table, Bach closing his eyes and cupping his face in his hands in pure embarrassment. Mitsuru looked at them with a pitiful expression. Bada waved to the silent crowd, and slid their way into the kitchen alongside. I looked back to Beethoven-senpai, as he nested his head in his hand as his elbow leant on the counter. I had a quick flutter in my heart when I noticed the charming sight, a sight that made me smile."Well, what are you waiting for? Cook!" Tchaiko yelled impatiently, causing the confused crowd to start cheering. In a slight jerk, I put my arm out to reach for the bag of flour until it was nudged away by Beethoven-senpai. I looked to them, confused."It's fine, Schubert. I can make the wrappers." Senpai mumbled softly, pouring some flour into a measuring cup. I slowly backed away, my arms still confused whether to reach forward and help anyway or not."Then what should I do?" I asked, eager to help somehow. Senpai stared into space for a moment, their other hand still extended as he reached for a knife."Shape the wrappers, after we cook the filling." Beethoven-senpai ordered, grabbing the knife as he began to level off the flour. I had slight panics when senpai used his knife, fearing he would accidentally cut himself. I observed closely, as I did yesterday. I watched on as senpai carefully made the wrapper, being extra careful with his measurements. He mixed the ingredients in a bowl, taking the mixture out to knead the dough just made."Hey, Schubert. Could you keep track of my time? I need to knead the dough for exactly 10 minutes." Beethoven-senpai asked, concentrating deeply in making sure the dough was perfect."Of course, I'll keep an eye on it." I responded, smiling as I looked over to the clock that was conveniently placed above our heads. I looked at the clock hands as they moved, trying desperately not to look back at senpai. Fighting the urge was a bother, but if senpai needed my assistance it mattered more. As his 10 minutes was up, I looked back to him. He was still kneading, adamant. I tapped his shoulder gently."Your 10 minutes is up." I reminded him, smiling warmly. Senpai nodded, promptly cutting the dough in half with the dough scraper we were given. Senpai rolled the dough into two logs, covering them in plastic wrap."Now we need to wait for 30 minutes." Beethoven-senpai noted, crossing their arms."What do we do while we wait?" I asked, curious as I looked at them. They looked at me back and thought intensively for a moment."We could sort out the filling." Senpai proposed, looking around the counter for ingredients. We rested our eyes on pork, mushrooms and cabbage. A popular choice, yet far from overrated. Without a second to lose, we both grabbed the ingredients. I grabbed the cabbage as senpai grabbed the mushrooms, both of us cutting our ingredients carefully. As we cut, I looked back to the clock every so often to check on the passing time. When we finished, we put our ingredients into a bowl with the pork we had. Looking across our ingredients, we looked for what could enhance the flavour best. It was an array of garlic cloves, grated ginger, sake, roasted sesame oil, soy sauce, anything we could find. I looked up to the time once more, as 30 minutes seemed to have passed. Looking back to Beethoven-senpai as we both smiled in excitement, senpai grabbed the logs and cut them into equal pieces, soon rolling out the dough with a nearby rolling pin. As senpai carried on, I continued adding whatever spices was closest to my hand, ones that seemed reasonable. Once the wrapping was flattened, Beethoven-senpai covered them in plastic wrap once more. I admired how dedicated senpai seemed to cooking perfectly, their face lined with thought."We should mix and knead the filling quickly, before the wrapping goes stale." Beethoven-senpai advised. I smiled and nodded, immediately grabbing a spoon. Senpai put his hands out and let out a forcefully silenced sound, as if they started to talk but stopped themselves. I looked back to them, awaiting for what they'd say, yet to no avail. Slowly looking back to the bowl, I began mixing the filling carefully, making sure everything was evenly spread. When I noticed I was done, Beethoven-senpai snatched the bowl from me and started kneading the mixture. I looked at them, surprised at first but welcoming to the help. The sudden burst had made my cheeks fluster even a little bit, as I wiped off small grains of flour from my apron. After a while, senpai stopped kneading and set the food in front of me."Thank you, senpai." I murmured, smiling as I set some filling onto a wrap. I tried my best to shape the gyoza, going over parts that I couldn't get perfectly right. Beethoven-senpai, noticing my struggles, leant over to me and grabbed my hands gently but forcefully. My heart suddenly felt as if it was racing, and the butterflies in my stomach in a crazed frenzy. I felt my cheeks grow warmer, as senpai guided my hands to help me shape the gyoza."You need to do it like that, or else they'll fall apart." Beethoven-senpai advised, their cheeks a slight pink. "Understood?" I nodded, intensely nervous."Yes, of course!" I stuttered, smiling as calmly as I could, which proved itself to be difficult.Once all gyozas were organised, we placed them into the pan to cook. As I prepared myself to wait, I noticed two daunting eyes staring at me. I looked outside to where I thought these eyes were fixed from, to notice a shoebill- standing completely still. It was Hasshie! Hasshie and I shared a long glance, before Beethoven-senpai seemed to notice."Schubert-kun, what are you looking at?" Senpai asked, sliding towards me. He then noticed Hasshie staring at us from outside the window, but shrugged and brushed it off as normal. Suddenly, I jumped to the sound of taps onto a microphone, turning around and promptly standing next to Beethoven-senpai."Alright, chefs! Just letting you know, the judges, Tchaiko and I will be walking around, viewing your cooking. Good luck!" Bada announced, smiling as they looked around. I turned my head back to the window, where Hasshie still stood."Senpai, what do we do about Hasshie? We can't just leave them here!" I asked, approaching the window slowly, pressing my hand onto the glass as I tried to think of a plan. Beethoven-senpai peeked over, staring back at Hasshie."We could get the girl to-" Senpai spoke, getting interrupted by footsteps approaching us from behind. I looked over to see Mitsuru staring out of the window with an expression of surprise."Why is that there?" Mitsuru asked, looking down to her pad and back to Hasshie as she noted something down on said pad. I shrugged, looking back to Hasshie myself. "I must tell Bach-sama about this..." Mitsuru slid away, looking around the kitchen to find Bach-sama. Beethoven-senpai and I looked at one another in conjoint confusion, but I began to laugh and smile uncontrollably. This whole situation was not one I expected, and it amused me- that was for sure. Senpai smiled, and looked back to Hasshie. Hasshie stared unblinkingly, a terrifyingly daunting sight. I felt slightly unnerved by their cold eyes piercing me, but looking back at senpai I felt at ease again. We heard footsteps approach us again, greeted by both Bach-sama and Mitsuru."Right over there, Bach-sama. What do you suppose we do with it?" Mitsuru asked, pointing out of the window. Bach-sama paused for a moment to stare at Hasshie."Diminuendo. Presto." Bach-sama announced, refusing to break eye contact. I was close to opening my mouth, wanting to oppose the removal of Hasshie before I heard the murmurs of Tchaiko and Bada approaching us."What are you two doing just standing here- what is that?" Tchaiko yelled, their snarky voice turning to pure confusion. Tchaiko glared at the poor bird, and I looked back to senpai to see them visibly annoyed by the crowd. I slid closer to senpai, as if to non-verbally console him. Beethoven-senpai looked at me, seemingly calmed even a little bit."I don't like it... It won't blink. It's scaring me." Bada murmured, their face lined with irrational fear. Tchaiko clenched her fists, getting increasingly annoyed at Hasshie continuing to stare."Stop staring at me you creepy-" Tchaiko yelled, being cut off by Bach-sama strongly pressing his hand against her mouth. Tchaiko tried to rip Bach-sama's hand off, yet failed. He let out a long sigh, and stared at Tchaiko."Caesura." Bach-sama murmured, his voice very clearly tired. Tchaiko let go of his arm and groaned under her breath. Bach-sama's arm slowly retreated as he continued to look back at Hasshie. I turned to look at Bada, who seemed disgusted in something. Bada sniffed the air a couple of times before clenching her nose."Is something burning?" Bada asked, my heart skipping a beat as my smile very quickly diminished. It couldn't be! I looked to senpai with worry in my eyes, and they immediately looked down to the pan. It was what we had dreaded - the gyoza we spent so much time preparing, burnt heavily. An overwhelming sense of guilt overcame my heart, as I looked to Beethoven-senpai, who was very visibly furious. Bach-sama, Tchaiko, Bada and Mitsuru noticed and tried to leave in a hurry, murmuring about the situation in pity. Beethoven-senpai and I were left in painful silence, and even Hasshie's staring eyes had a glint of sympathy."Senpai... I- I'm so sorry! I should've kept an eye on it!" I apologised profusely, guilt overpowering all of my emotions. Beethoven-senpai looked at me, his furious expression loosening slightly."Don't. It's not your fault, so don't be sorry." Senpai stated, staring the gyoza up and down. I looked at them with worry, but I felt ease as Beethoven-senpai made sure I knew I wasn't responsible with his no-nonsense words."Well, senpai, I'm sure it can be salvaged somehow! Worst case scenario, we have to make new gyoza wrappers." I reassured, smiling warmly to try and convince them. Beethoven-senpai shook his head."No, it's unsalvageable. You must get rid of it, we must try again from the start." Beethoven-senpai announced calmly, making me almost gasp in surprise."No- we can't! We worked so hard, and I'm so certain we can salvage it! You can do it, I'm sure you can! I believe in you, senpai!" I yelled, truly wishing I could persuade them. Beethoven-senpai's eyes glimmered with softness, but he shook his head."Schubert-kun, we can't. Don't make me use my power glare to convince you otherwise." Senpai warned, I supposed he was perhaps teasing me."But I refuse, senpai! We can't let our hard work go so easily!" I responded, staring deep into their eyes, trying to convince them. Beethoven-senpai sighed and kept eye contact with me, bending over. He closed his eyes, but when he opened them again they had an overpowering charm to them. I admired them as they twinkled, as if there was a starry night captured in his vast eyes. My cheeks started to grow warm, and my lips trembling as I was unable to speak. The butterflies in my stomach intensified to ridiculous amounts, and although I believed we didn't have to get rid of our batch I couldn't say no to his eyes. Each second I looked into his eyes the cuter they got, the more he seemed like a begging puppy. My throat started to tense up, and tears built up in my mouth. The conflicting emotions were overpowering, and his eyes were truly moving! In a flurry of emotions, tears began flowing from my eye. "Senpai..." I wailed, wiping tears from my eyes. "Fine, I'll do it- I'll get rid of it. We can try again!" I grabbed the burnt gyoza and wrapped them in a plastic wrap, my vision blurry from the tears. I looked back to senpai, their eyes still adorable and charming, as an assortment of tears dripped down my cheeks. After a moment, I ran off, clenching the burnt gyoza as my feeling of butterflies followed. I slammed open the back door, stopping to wipe my tears. I then closed the back door, a cold gust of wind brushing against my skin. I looked around the trash-filled area for a dumpster, which I found to my left. Bracing myself for a hideous smell, I kept my breath in and held it tight. Opening the dumpster, I yelped at the sight of a figure sitting inside, dropping the lid as I backed away swiftly. I slowly slid back to the dumpster and carefully opened the lid to reveal Chopin nestling in the dumpster, playing on a portable console of his, one with two screens as he drew on one with a stylus. Chopin looked back at me fearfully, but calmed when he realised it was me. Chopin slowly slid an abandoned plushie closer to him, whilst maintaining eye contact with me. The plushie donned a long nose and circular glasses, yet looked slightly different from I. Chopin noticed my gaze on the plushie and snorted, and continued with his game."Do you mind if I... Put this in here?" I asked, pointing to the burnt gyoza. Chopin nodded, not looking back at me. I dropped the burnt gyoza in, keeping eye contact with Chopin, looking to their console every so often when I heard a noise emitted from it. I opened my mouth to question why Chopin would hide in such a place, but I figured the answer was clear. I closed the dumpster lid and readjusted my clothing, if I was to help senpai cook once more I must do it right this time- I refused to be distracted. Opening the back door, I was drowned in the sound of cooking and chatter. I strode my way to senpai, smiling proudly as my posture straightened. Senpai stood upright, looking back at me."Let's try this again, senpai!" I announced, grinning as I reached for a clean bowl. Senpai smirked alongside and nodded."Let's, Schubert-kun." Beethoven-senpai responded, using my tone of speech to seem friendly. We seemed just as excited as each other.I sighed, leaning against the counter. As fun as it was, I was glad it was over with. I looked back to Beethoven-senpai, who held the plate of gyoza proudly- his grin wide. We somehow managed to cook the gyoza in time, which was a surprise to both of us. I grinned with them, feeling truly fulfilled that senpai was proud, my world truly becoming brighter as his smile widened. We heard the thunderous taps of the microphone, and the sound of Bada clearing her throat."Time's up, chefs! Please get your gyoza samples and place them on the judges' table. The best of luck to you all." Bada announced, Tchaiko nowhere to be found. Her absence confused me, but I figured they were busy doing something else. I looked to senpai, as they slid the plate of gyoza into my hands. I felt surprised, was senpai letting me do the honours?"I thought you were..." I murmured, reaching my arms out to give the plate back. Beethoven-senpai shook his head, and crossed his arms. I stared at them for a second, a sense of pure bliss hitting me like a bullet. Senpai had trusted me, Schubert- a nobody in his eyes, to do the honours and gift the judges our gyoza! I found it hard to believe the day could get better, but I held more hope for an even better event. I practically danced to the judges table, feeling as if I was floating. My smile was as wide as it could ever get, and I felt truly content. Even if Mozart was watching my every move from the seats, I didn't care. His presence no longer bothered me. I slid the plate on the table as I looked back to senpai, to see his reaction, he smirked for a second but went back to his blank expression. I slid back to him, my smile still beaming. We watched from afar as the judges tasted the competitor's gyoza, taking an array of reactions. When the judges grabbed our plate, I looked back to senpai and smiled, they seemed to notice and smirked back for a second, before looking to the judges' table once more. I crossed my fingers as tight as I could, wishing silently that we were given the best of luck. Bach-sama and Mitsuru both took a bite of our gyoza, and to our delight they seemed content. Bach-sama smiled and nodded, looking up to us in approval. Mitsuru looked at Bach-sama and tried to copy what they did, which still made a contagious emotion of excitement. The force I had with my fingers crossed weakened, as I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming emotion of pride. Then, Bach-sama and Mitsuru picked up a clipboard and murmured to each other, yet I doubted Bach-sama was saying anything other than musical terms. Mitsuru picked up a pen and jotted down something on the clipboard, and handed it to Bada when she was finished. As Bada made her way to the microphone once more as she read the writing on the clipboard, my excitement only made itself more intense. Suddenly, I heard a deafening bang coming from the back door I had came out of earlier- making me jump. Looking over to what was happening, I saw Tchaiko looking immeasurably furious. Tchaiko sprinted and pounced onto Bada, creating an array of gasps from the audience."Why the Hell would you lock me outside?" Tchaiko screamed, directly into Bada's face."Because you kept disrupting the competition, which is what you're doing now you elderly bother!" Bada yelled back, very clearly irritated. I then heard a laugh coming from the audience, a high-pitched, shrill voice."Hey, that looks fun!" Mozart announced, bursting through the kitchen doors as they jumped onto the now pile of people. My ears were deafened by the sound of yelling, screaming and laughing all coming from the same area. I noticed Sousuke looking confused and hesitant just behind the door, until they slowly slid it open. They tried to whisper to Mozart, yet found themselves yelling to get himself heard."What do you mean 'You should join in with us, I'll go jump in now!'?" Sousuke hissed, looking around as groups of people looked at them. Mozart stared at them for a minute, unimpressed. Sousuke, now anxious as the people staring at him, yelled as he jumped into the pile also."Sousuke, what do you think you're doing?" Pad-kun cried, muffled from being inside of Sousuke's pocket. Liszt and Kanae, both looking extremely provoked, burst through the door. As they dragged Sousuke and Mozart away from the pile, and back into the room where the audience now stared, extremely concerned. I looked back to senpai, who seemed mildly displeased. I then looked to the judges' table, both Bach-sama and Mitsuru looking panicked. Tchaiko slid away from the pile in a huff, holding the microphone as Bada attempted to stand."Anyway, now that the results are in..." Tchaiko announced, snatching the clipboard from Bada's hands. "I'll now say who won." I looked to senpai, excited as we both grinned in anticipation. I crossed my fingers once more, even tighter than before. "In first place there is..." My heart began racing, my hands shaking in pure excited frenzy. "Wagner and Dvorak?" My smile dropped. It couldn't be- me and senpai lost to that awful younger sibling of Kanae's and their hippo. I looked to senpai, opening my mouth to reassure them. They seemed otherworldly frustrated and disappointed."Senpai... We did so well. This must be unfair! A man as great as you simply can't lose to a child and a hippo unless cheating was involved, I just know it!" I reassured, reaching out to grab Beethoven-senpai's hand in a flash of impulse. Noticing my sudden action, my arm slowly retreated. Senpai looked at me, seemingly calming."No, Schubert-kun. It's fine." Beethoven-senpai murmured, his eyes soft and caring as he spoke. Despite the butterflies fluttering in my heart once more, I couldn't help but feel saddened over our loss."And in second place is..." Tchaiko yelled, sounding extremely bored. Despite not getting first place, I tried to hope once more. "Beethoven and Schubert." My smile lightened once more as senpai looked at me, grinning passionately. I looked to them, my smile imperfect but as wide as it could be. I could hear Liszt, Kanae, Mozart and Sousuke cheering throughout the crowd, which made my smile widen more. Beethoven-senpai looked intensely proud, a great contrast to how he seemed earlier. The twinkle in his eyes returned, and it made the moment so much more worth the time."Senpai! We got second place, it's not first but... We got second!" I yelled excitedly, senpai's smirk widening slightly. He seemed so proud, and it brought me bliss."And in third place is... Uh... What does this say?" Tchaiko asked, curious. "Oh well, whoever this is, congrats." Tchaiko slammed the clipboard onto the nearest table for people to read, yawning as they walked off unbothered. Bada, concerned as they looked back to the competitors, attempted to smile."And, um... Can Wagner and Dvorak please come here, for your winning prize?" Bada murmured, awkwardly looking around the room. Wagner sauntered to them, Dvorak following from behind. Mitsuru handed Bada a bag, which Bada handed the bag to Wagner. "Your prize, 10 bags of coffee beans!" Bada announced, trying to sound positive despite of the events that happened previously. I could sense the atmosphere changing very quickly, looking to senpai I noticed they looked upmost frustrated. It was clear that he desperately wanted the coffee beans. Without a word spoken, Beethoven-senpai sprinted in blind rage to Wagner, pushing them over, wrestling them for the bags of coffee as if their life depended on it. Wagner put up a fight, attempting to kick them off, which angered senpai even more."Spielen wir unsere-" Beethoven started, their elegant baton appearing in their hand. I ran over, trying to pull senpai off of Wagner."Senpai, no! Remember what you said about it being fine?" I yelled, desperately trying to drag them off, to no avail. Senpai then paused, to calm down. His baton disappeared as he collected himself and stood up. "We should... Probably go." I murmured to senpai, as he nodded I looked down to Wagner, trying to pick up his bags of coffee he most likely didn't even want.Sliding out of the restaurant, as many members of the audience did alongside, senpai and I attempted to grab the skateboard yet was stopped by Mozart, who grabbed it first. Mozart glided across on his skateboard, laughing to himself as Liszt and Kanae followed from behind, talking as Liszt dragged the inattentive Chopin, who sometimes answered questions Sousuke asked. But behind all of them was senpai and I, left to ourselves. The sky had now become a vast orange sunset, and I couldn't help but admire it. I then heard Beethoven-senpai laugh to himself, a charming laugh that made me slightly flustered."What is it, senpai?" I asked, smiling as I looked at them. Beethoven-senpai then showed me a bag of coffee that he had hid in his pocket, laughing even more."Senpai! How did you do that? I didn't even notice!" I giggled, noticing senpai's eyes sparkle extensively as I laughed. After the laughter calmed down, we noticed that it seemed to slow us down, as everyone else was now far in front of us. Admittedly, I didn't mind. We then walked in utter, awkward silence- but it was something I relished secretly. Just senpai and I, walking on our own. This is exactly what I wanted. I looked over the same houses we almost flew past when we were on the skateboard earlier, making me reflect on the events prior. Suddenly, I noticed a small nudge on my hand, looking down, I noticed Beethoven-senpai's hand touching mine. The mere thought made me burst into a flurry of emotions, my face as red as it could possibly be, and the butterflies in my stomach intensifying for as long as the touch lasted - it felt like electric. Slowly and carefully, Beethoven-senpai placed his hand in mine, making us hold hands. I looked to his face, he looked down to the floor with his cheeks the reddest I've seen them, he looked back at me a couple of times but tried to make it seem inconspicuous. His hand was warm and gentle, something I had not quite expected. I smiled, staring at them to try and get their attention. When they turned their head to look at me, I was at a loss of words. I couldn't find out what to say, and my throat tensed."Thank you, senpai." I mouthed, uncontrollably grinning. Senpai's eyes were sparkling, it was as if each atom of his eye reflected the light perfectly. He smiled, but not one I had seen before properly. It was not a proud or competitive smile, no, it was a true, content smile. Senpai looked away, back to the floor once more. Although gusts of wind were unforgivably cold, I found my warmth in holding his hand. I looked forward myself, looking to where we would step next. We were in silence, but I was not alone- and that's all that mattered.
