Work Text
It was a cold day, and I was already feeling down. As I walk on the road, I feel like my feet weren’t even touching the ground. As I look behind me, I saw my phone on the ground, shattered from when I threw it.
My girlfriend of six months, Chifuyu Tsukimi, was cheating on me with my Senior, Kirishima. She was doing it behind my back, and probably even when I was talking to her when she was up on the roof that one day. Kirishima told me on text that he was going to use Chifuyu even after he graduated, so I felt even more like shit.
I go inside my house, and my mother and father immediately notice my expression.
“What’s wrong, boy?” Dan asked, his usual but albeit, natural intimidating voice accompanied by concern and worry.
“Did anything happen?” Ari adds, her low and smooth voice also displaying concern.
I did a quick pause, thinking back to how I masturbated to pictures Kirishima sent me of him having sexual intercourse with a “Woman similar to Tsukimi”, who was literally just her. I almost barfed, and my father instinctually got up from his chair and rushed over to me, putting his hand on my back and rubbing it.
“Boy, boy! Calm it son!” Dan blurted, he was rubbing my back as I hovered his other hand.
Ari quickly stands up and grabs the nearby trashcan before putting it in front of me. I couldn’t hold it and barfed into the trash can, falling to my knees as I do so. Afterward, I was panting with quick but very shallow breaths, wiping my mouth with my sleeve as my dad helped me up.
“There must be something wrong.” Dan urged to Ari, rubbing my back just in case I needed to barf again.
“Do you think it has something to do with Chifuyu?” Ari mumbled to Dan, positioning the trash can better just in case.
Both of them paused, thinking about possible reasons why I could be acting this way. My father thought maybe I was sick or got food poisoning. My mother thought maybe I was nauseous or I ate too much. Then it lingered on both of them at the same time. A few months ago, I had told them that Tsukimi was slowly distancing herself from me.
“Boy, I want you to listen to me, and I want you to tell the truth, alright?” Dan asked as he kneeled down to look up to my face as I looked down at the trashcan, not being able to look up.
“Did Chifuyu do something wrong?” He questioned, his face turning stern yet concerned.
I pause, I don’t know what to do, to lie or to tell the truth. I couldn’t decide, but my body decided for me.
“She cheated on me.” I blurted out, still looking down at the ground as I clench my fist on instinct.
There was a long pause, but my dad made an unreadable expression before he stood up from kneeling and walked toward the phone, but then he hesitated before looking back at me with a softer expression.
“Do you want me to call her parents?” He asked, a bit hesitant but still firm.
I pause a bit, our relationship was fine until she started becoming distant, maybe there was something deeper to this.
“Not yet.” I reply, still unsure but still a bit angered.
My father nodded and retracted his hand from hovering over the house phone.
“What can we do to help?” Ari asked, still next to me.
I paused, I didn’t know what to do, I was too weak to confront her directly, but I wasn’t going to let this stand. I remember someone who can help me with this.
“Can you call Uncle Jason here?” I say, firmly.
