“I’ll have the strongest drink you have,” said Azula, slamming the bar door behind her and storming over to the table. She sat down on a stool and waited for the bartender to come over.“I’ve seen you before,” the bartender said, setting a menu down in front of her new customer, “Aren’t you Azula, the Fire Lord’s daughter?”“Correct,” Azula sighed.“My name’s Tifa Lockhart,” the bartender gave her a friendly smile, “Is this your first time at a lesbian bar?”“Yeah,” Azula grumbled, “I just came out to my parents, and my father kicked me out of the house.”Tifa’s expression twisted into a grimace, “That doesn’t surprise me. Everyone here knows what your father thinks of us.”“You don’t think that way of me, do you?” Azula asked.“No, of course not, we don’t judge those we don’t know,” said Tifa, “Now, what’ll it be?”Azula looked over the menu and pointed dejectedly at a yellow cocktail.“The Seventh Heaven, huh?” said Tifa, “Great choice, it’ll do you wonders. Do you want any food to go along with it?”“I haven’t had eggs in a while, I suppose I’ll have some.”“Excellent, I’ll get Aerith on that right away,” Tifa nodded, taking Azula’s menu.“Who’s Aerith?” Azula asked.“Aerith’s the one in charge of the food,” Tifa giggled, “She’s also my girlfriend. We met in the slums at her flower shop…it’s a long story. We’ll have your order ready for you shortly. She went into the kitchen, and Azula slumped down in her seat. Her eyes drifted around the bar, looking at all the couples around her. Some were dancing to the music playing from the speakers, some were romantically feeding each other, and some were just making out against the walls like no one else was there. They all seemed so happy, like their lives had never been better.Azula sighed sadly. She’d known she was attracted to women ever since she was a young teenager, but her father’s violently homophobic nature made her too scared to come out to anyone for years, especially after her brother came out and was subsequently kicked out.The little bell on the doorframe rang as the bar door opened, and Azula instinctively turned her head to see the newcomer. She wasn’t sure what she thought she’d see, but she definitely wasn’t expecting the prettiest girl she had ever seen in her life. The woman was about Azula’s height, with a slim and slightly curvy figure in a long brown dress. Her skin was olive-colored, and she had shoulder-length wavy brown hair, with bangs that almost reached her eyes. She had reddish diamond tattoos peppered across her nose and cheeks like freckles, her eyes were a brilliant piercing blue, and she had full, plump lips coated with maroon lipstick.“Excuse me,” the woman said in the sweetest voice Azula had ever heard, “Is this the Seventh Heaven?”“Y-yeah,” Azula’s voice shook a bit when she spoke.“Thank goodness,” the woman giggled softly, “I’ve never been here before, and I was afraid I’d gotten the wrong address.”She held out her hand, smiling warmly.“I’m Barriss Offee,” she said.“A-Azula,” Azula replied, shaking Barriss’s hand.“It’s so nice to meet you, Azula,” Barriss laughed gently, “Are you a regular here?”Azula shook her head, “No, it’s actually my first time here too. My father banished me from my home for the ‘unspeakable crime’ of being a lesbian.”“Oh dear,” Barriss gave her an apologetic look and put her hand on her shoulder, “I’m so sorry, Azula. It’s tough having to deal with people who can’t accept you for who you are.”Normally, Azula would’ve cringed at such a stock line like that, but hearing Barriss say it felt different. The tone in Barriss’s voice hinted that she most likely went through a very similar situation, and her look of sympathy was completely genuine.“That’s alright,” Azula sighed, “So why are you here?”“I’m waiting for my girlfriend,” Barriss explained, her expression brightening, “It’s our first date!”“Oh…,” said Azula, her heart sinking like a rock. Of course the pretty ones were all already taken.“I hope she has the right address,” said Barriss, “This place was pretty difficult to find.”“Yeah, but I get why,” Azula shrugged, “Seventh Heaven is relatively hidden on the outskirts of town, and most people who come here probably don’t want attention drawn towards them, like us.”“That makes sense,” Barriss mused, “We all need places where we can be ourselves without the scrutiny of the general public.”“As long as there are plenty of cute girls,” Azula snickered.“Yes, of course,” Barriss laughed along with her.The little bell on the doorframe rang again, and Barriss stood up.“That must be her,” she said, and quickly rushed to get the door. The newcomer walked in, and…oh no, she was just as pretty as Barriss. She was about their height, with long, flowing white hair that went down to her waist, with pale skin and stunning big blue eyes. She wore a long-sleeve red jacket over a black button-down shirt, with black dress pants and shiny black boots. She had no makeup, but she was so beautiful that she didn’t need any.Azula gulped. It was bad enough that she was sitting with one gorgeous girl, but TWO? She felt like was going to die.“Edelgard, I’m so glad you could make it!” Barriss exclaimed, giving the new girl a peck on the cheek.“Hello, Barriss,” said Edelgard, kissing her back, “Sorry I’m late, I couldn’t find this place for the life of me.”Barriss giggled and ushered her over to the table.“Edelgard, this is my new friend, Azula,” she said.“Nice to meet you, Azula,” said Edelgard, holding out her hand, “I’m Edelgard von Hresvelg.”“N-nice to meet you too,” Azula replied as she shook Edelgard’s hand.Edelgard sat down across from Azula, and Barriss slid in next to her. The two lovers talked to each other for a bit, occasionally laughing and sharing kisses. They looked so happy together, and Azula couldn’t help but feel slightly envious of their relationship, though it was drowned out by her growing crush on both of them.“Azula, your drink’s ready!” Tifa called out as she rushed over to the table with the Seventh Heaven cocktail.“Here you are,” she said, setting the drink down in front of her.“Thank you,” Azula nodded, “By the way, why do you have a cocktail that has the same name as the bar?”“I dunno,” Tifa shrugged, “It was called that long before I took over.”“Here’s your eggs!” a brunette girl said cheerfully as she hurried over, holding a plate of deviled eggs over her head.“You’re Aerith, right?” Azula asked.“Yep, that’s right!” Aerith beamed. Her eyes drifted over to the two women sitting in front of her.“Oh, are these your girlfriends?” she asked innocently.Azula nearly spat out her drink, her face turning red as a beet.“WHAT?! N-no, nonononono…,” Azula stammered, “Th-they just c-came in and sat down with me, that’s all. That…that’s it, definitely it.”“Oh, I’m sorry,” Aerith apologized.Tifa leaned over and whispered into Azula’s ear, “She loves guessing who’s with who. She’s a huge romantic sap.”“I am not!” Aerith’s face twisted into a very unconvincing pout, “That’s it, you’re not getting any snuggles for the next three days!”“Aw, shoot,” Tifa tried her hardest not to laugh, “Whatever will I do?”She wrapped her left arm around Aerith’s waist and kissed her cheek, dragging her back over to the kitchen. Azula, Barriss and Edelgard were left in a collective giggling fit.“Wait, they didn’t take your orders,” Azula noted.“That’s alright, we’re not really here for a meal anyway,” said Edelgard.“Oh,” Azula looked down at her plate of deviled eggs, “Do either of you want any? It feels kinda rude to just eat my fill when you two have nothing.”She placed some of her eggs on a napkin and pushed it across the table.“You don’t have to offer us anything,” said Barriss.“Please,” Azula insisted.Barriss and Edelgard looked at each other, shrugged, and each took a fork and ate up.“Mmm, this is quite good,” Edelgard mused, “It’s been a while since I’ve had eggs, but these are delicious.”“I agree,” Barriss nodded, “Thank you very much, Azula.”“Yeah, thank you, Azula,” Edelgard gave her a grateful smile.“Hey, I didn’t make the food,” Azula grinned, “But I’ll take it.”The three women sat in silence for a bit, looking around the bar. They could just barely see Tifa and Aerith making out in the kitchen.“So,” Azula finally said, “How did you two meet?”“It’s a long story,” said Barriss, “Edelgard, do you want to start?”“Very well,” Edelgard nodded, “I was going on a walk in the forest, when a group of bandits ambushed me. There were over a dozen of them, way too many of them to fight off, so I ran. One of them grabbed my arm, and I thought I was done for. Then Barriss showed up and kicked my captor’s face in. We drove the rest of the bandits off after that.”“Wow, sounds like fun,” said Azula.“We were completely in sync with one another, even though we had just met,” Edelgard continued, “As admittedly cheesy as it sounds, some part of me knew that she was the one.”“You’re right, that’s ridiculously cheesy,” Azula laughed, less harshly than she would’ve if she was talking to anyone else.“Edelgard had a nasty gash on her back after all the fighting, so I helped her to my campsite,” said Barriss, giving her girlfriend’s hand a gentle squeeze, “We spent the night together after I treated her wounds.”She let out a wistful sigh, “It was wonderful, wasn’t it?”“Apart from the searing pain, yes,” Edelgard chuckled.Azula watched the two lovers as they embraced and started kissing each other again. She was growing less envious than before, watching them was just so sugary-sweet that even her ice-cold heart was starting to melt. But still…“Hey, are you three done eating?” Tifa’s voice rang out loudly from about ten feet away, causing all three of them to jump in their seats.“Oh, uh…yeah,” said Azula, searching her pockets for any cash.“We’ll pay for it,” Edelgard called out, slamming down a handful of coins on the table.“Wait, no, you don’t have to-,” Azula started.“Azula, you gave us your food, it’s only fair that we pay for it,” said Edelgard.“Okay then,” Azula shrugged.Tifa came over and took the coins, stuffing them into her shorts pocket.“Thank you very much,” she said, “Azula, you should really bring your girlfriends here again.”“Th-they’re not my…,” Azula stammered.“We’ll definitely come here again,” said Barriss, as she and Edelgard each shook Tifa’s hand.“Great, see you then!” Tifa giggled as she ran back to the kitchen, probably to make out with Aerith again.“So…uh…,” Azula tried to form her jumbled thoughts into a coherent sentence, “I…I guess this is it.”“Well, thank you for letting us sit with you,” said Barriss, “We had a wonderful time.”“Yes, thank you, Azula,” Edelgard nodded, “We really appreciate your company.”“Y-you’re welcome, I guess,” said Azula, getting up from her stool, “I-I’ll be heading off now.”She started to head to the door, but stopped when she heard both women yell out, “Azula, wait!”Azula barely had time to turn around before Barriss grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her in for a deep kiss. Time seemed to freeze in that moment, and her mind almost imploded from the shock, which then turned into euphoria as she melted into the kiss. Azula had kissed a few girls before, but they were nothing compared to this.Only a split second after Barriss pulled away, Edelgard grabbed Azula’s waist and pulled her in for a kiss of her own. Edelgard was a much firmer and fiercer kisser than Barriss, but that was not a bad thing in the slightest. Once again, time appeared to stop, but Azula had enough control of her brain this time to at least kiss her back.Once they pulled apart, Azula tried to say something, but the two surprise kisses must’ve broken her brain because no sounds would come out of her mouth. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Tifa and Aerith watching them intently, both of them grinning from ear to ear.“W-why?” Azula stuttered, feverishly trying to reform her thought processes.“We really like you, Azula,” Barriss smiled sweetly, “Edelgard and I want you to become our partner.”“Wha- really?” Azula gasped.“Yes,” Edelgard nodded, her face beaming with affection, “You’re wonderful, Azula, and Barriss and I want to spend more time with you, if you’ll have us.”“I-I’d love to be with you, with both of you,” said Azula.Barriss and Edelgard leaned over to kiss Azula on both cheeks, and the three of them walked out of the bar, slamming the door behind them.
