Langa lounged on the couch, one hand holding his phone, the other buried in peppery fur. Haakon's head was on his lap and she was fulfilling her role as an adorable phonestand well. Reki was about to start streaming and even though Langa could look up from his screen and see the door Reki was behind across their living room, he was still going to watch it. He was on puppy duty anyway. Although, she wasn't a puppy anymore. Two years old now in dog years, twenty something in human years. She was the size of their entire couch, definitely not the small ball of fluff she used to be, but she was still their baby. Haakon had been their baby since the day Reki brought her home for Langa's twenty second birthday. All adorable with eyes and ears too big for her face. She grew into those, and those massive clumsy paws. Reki taught her a little bit of grace by getting her to skateboard. Which made her super popular online, skateboarding dogs always were. Langa liked to think that was the reason Haakon hated when Reki streamed, she didn't wanna share the spotlight. Langa ran his hand between her ears and prayed it wouldn't be as bad as the last time. He would have just taken her for a walk but they had a guest coming. Who had lost her house key, meaning Langa had to be there to let her in. He didn’t mind. In fact, house-soon-to-be-husband was his favorite job. Getting paid a stupid amount of money to skate and snowboard was awesome, but there were other obligations attached to it. Supporting and loving Reki had no downsides. Langa loved everything about living with and being engaged to a successful business owner. Well, maybe not cleaning in general. Dark wood floors with a dog that shed white hair.. Langa grimaced at the thought of the spring shed a few weeks ago that turned their apartment into a snowglobe.Much like visitors had the warning that they better text before they just show up lest they see something they probably wouldn’t want to, they also had the warning that they were bound to get covered in dog hair. Like the time Claudio came to stay with them. He was so happy to have the couch as a bed and a giant dog as a blanket, but his massive hair was filled with Haakon’s in the morning and Reki teased him mercilessly for it. It was really funny. His beard turned white and he panicked at old age approaching far too quickly for someone in their early twenties.
Regularly.Reki is now live.
The notification came through on his phone the same time Haakon picked up her head and knocked Langa’s phone from his light grip. Langa sighed, she must have heard Reki. Big ears were good for that he supposed, he couldn’t hear past the soundproofing. She practically fell off the low couch in her determination to cross the living room as fast as possible. Her big fluffy tail knocked over a Shadow-insisted plant off the coffee table as she pushed her way through the two chairs in her path. However, to Langa’s great surprise, she didn’t try and bust down the door like the last time. Haakon flopped to the floor in front of it instead. Crawling on her belly to get her nose as close to the little crack of space at the bottom of the door. She let out an utterly pathetic sigh and Langa’s heart ached. “Haakon.” Langa called with a frown. She ignored him, as she was very fond of doing. “Come here. Let your dad work.” She turned her face at the word dad, knowing that meant Reki. Langa was a sucker for those big eyes. One icy blue and the other a deep chocolate brown. She was the best pouter in the house, and because of that she got her way just as much as the two men did with each other. Spoiled. All of them. Langa sighed and peeled himself off the couch to cross the room. Reki was just giving an update today, he wouldn’t be mad at an intrusion. He never was. He was just worried about her getting tangled in cords and being in the way when he was actually using tools. Two years ago, Reki said “We have to get her used to being locked out so she doesn’t cry so bad when I’m working on boards.” He did not follow his own parenting instructions. He made Langa hold her and stand in there with him so she could see. When Langa stopped being able to easily pick her up is when that ceased and the extra walks started. She got used to Reki actually working eventually, the pouting would stop when she heard the whirr of a sander. Streaming without her just wasn’t okay in Haakon’s book.As soon as Langa got close to the door, her tail started to wag in subdued excitement. Like she knew she was about to get her way but didn’t want to act too knowing. It wasn’t until Langa’s hand hit the doorknob did that act drop. She flew to her paws on and did three or four pouncing spins in a circle before she sat patiently like the best dog in the entire world, that she was. Sweet baby just wanted her dad. So Langa opened the door and let her have him. Reki didn’t stop talking to the camera in front of him but he did turn his head and when he met Langa’s gaze, that adorable lopsided smile pulled up his lips. The cute expression lasted all of two seconds before those beautiful amber eyes widened at the sight of his forty kilogram puppy jumping at him. Haakon set her massive front paws on the arm of his chair and Langa’s sight of Reki was thoroughly blocked by fluffy fur. He heard the giggle though. “Haakon.” Reki sputtered, probably getting covered in wet dog kisses. She had to inherit something from Langa after all. Covering Reki’s cheeks in smooches was it, it definitely wasn’t snowboarding. She was an awful snowboarder. “Baby- pft. Blech, hair in my mouth. Haakon, down.” She heaved herself off of Reki’s chair, listening to him much better than she ever did to Langa. Reki smiled and ruffled between her ears with one hand and hit some buttons on his keyboard with the other. “There, you’re on stream now. Are you happy?” The answer was obviously yes. She sat perfectly in front of the camera Reki had set up just for her. Langa rolled his eyes fondly and was about to shut the door when Reki called his name. “Langa, you’re not gonna jump on my lap?” He smirked, eyes shining in playfulness. Langa debated it and decided to whisper his response. That fancy camera picked up everything. “Did you reconsider doing things on camera? If I’m on your lap..”“Stop.” Reki turned bright red but his smile didn’t drop. “Shh, none of you heard my fiance. Especially not the baby.” “You started it.” Langa replied with a shrug. As he was closing the door, Reki was cooing at Haakon. “She’s just gonna miss her dads. That’s the point of the stream today anyway! To let you all know where I am gonna be for the next week, well Langa will be there too for some of it.. I'm headed back to California for some stuff! Like the SLS and..” A well timed bang coincided with the door shutting. That was Hana, who did nothing in her life quietly. Langa took his time heading to open the front door for her. How she was so put together and managed to keep Reki put together, but lost things all the time was beyond him. Well it actually wasn’t, she and Reki were far too similar for their own good. “Hi.” She chimed with a bright smile when he opened the door. “I have compensation.” Langa tilted his head in question but a fabric bag was being shoved into his chest as she pushed her way past him into their apartment. He peeked in to see an assortment of Hana’s incredible snack tastes. Okay maybe her and Langa had some things in common too. Like their shared junk food cabinet in the kitchen, that these were definitely getting added to. “It’s not actually compensation. I saw we were getting low on Friday and picked up some more. There’s fruit snacks in there too.” Hana kicked off her shoes and looked around at the floor. “Where’s my niece?” “With Reki.” Langa shut the door behind the two of them and followed her down the hallway. “Oh, checks out.” She made herself right at home on their couch, like she usually did. “So.”Langa set the bag down and looked over the island counter. Hana was pulling her fluffy hair half up and clipping it behind her head. Her explanation didn’t continue, she dug into her bag and produced a huge binder she slapped on the table. “What?”“This is wedding stuff..” She tapped the folder and pulled out another one. “This is SLS stuff.” and another, the same size as the second. “This is eighth gear stuff.” “Okay?" Right as she opened her mouth to explain, the door to Reki's office opened back up and in a blur of black and white, Haakon found her third favorite person with a pounce. It was decided one night after Hana and Shadow had been arguing over who the puppy loved more. It wasn't Miya, who was terrified of Haakon at first but slowly warmed up to her. It wasn't Yuki, who insisted she'd get their future human child's favoritism. It wasn't Cherry, who did not like the hair. And poor Joe, it wasn't him either. Langa really thought he was going to cry when he got completely ignored by the puppy for Shadow. The deciding trial was Hana and Shadow standing on opposite sides of Reki and Langa's apartment, each calling Haakon's name. She barely knew it at that point and sat there like the clueless puppy she was. Head tilting to one side, then the other. Ears flopping each way trying to figure it out. Hana's coos and babbles eventually won out over Shadow's and Haakon trotted to her with enthusiasm. Hana scooped her right off the floor to declare her victory with a smug smile that Shadow never got over.Hana soothed the giant dog's excitement in some other language and Haakon settled in her favorite spot on the couch (The entire right side of it) and set her large head right on Hana's lap. "She's gonna be such a mess while you two are gone." "I know." Langa frowned. He didn't want to leave her. The last time they had to was for the Summer Olympics and they'd sent her off to Okinawa for a whole month. Yet they would be taking her with them in five months. One airplane trip was enough for one year. "Good thing you'll be staying here with her. Don't lose your key." "I'll make five extra." Hana waved off his concern. "So, this is the first time you guys are traveling for work without me. Hence the binders. Which I know Reki will not read, he's never read anything I've ever given him. That's why I'm telling you." "You act like I'm the most responsible one." Langa rounded the counter and took his second favorite spot in the living room. The wide yellow chair. "You are, sometimes." He shrugged and grabbed the SLS binder to page through it. Hana had laid out flight details and obligation times as well as the hotel reservations for the night of the competition. She must be psychic or something. If Reki won, which he very well might, Langa was not going to want to spend a celebration night where they were staying that weekend. "Shadow and I just have different management styles. We both tell you the information, he texts you the day of. I put it in the binder for Reki to not read until he panics that he forgot something. And it's easier for me to memorize it all anyway if I type it out and organize it. A whole system." Langa met her proud smile with a soft one. "You're awesome. Why did you bring the wedding one?" "Cause I'm scheduled for a call with Masae soon and I promised I'd wrangle Reki into it." Hana put her finger to her lips. "Don't give him a heads up and a chance to escape." "Got it." He nodded in affirmation and left Hana to deal with Reki and his habit of not calling his mom as often as he should. Langa never had that problem. In fact, he and his mom may or may not gossip on the phone on a weekly basis now. He blamed Reki for that. It was why she knew all about him the first time they met. Back then it was monthly chats about pining and adult life in a different country. Mid twenties, a granddog, and an upcoming wedding just changed the frequency. "Eighth Gear one goes with him when he leaves tomorrow too. It's got all the important meeting notes for the potential deal with that new clothing supplier. Which is huge because the office is getting too small to do printing there anymore. With the boxes of clothes and boxes of hardware and boxes of paint and stacks of lumber.. You get the idea. Growing pains." Hana ruffled Haakon's fur and reached for the other binder. "Why aren't you going to that? Like patched in on a phone call or something? How you usually do." "Reki's got it." She said with confidence. "He's much more competent at making deals now than when I first started. He was just selling himself short.""Which I am not." Reki appeared behind Langa with a wrap of his arms around his shoulders and his clasped hands fell on his chest. The chin on Langa's head barely startled him. "That was a quick stream." "Yeah, well, Haakon heard Hana and then chat lost all interest when she left." Reki pouted. "They love her. Speaking of, you will be sending me pictures every day I'm gone. Both of you."Hana rolled her eyes. "I know. Promised morning, noon, and night." "Of me or our baby?" Langa leaned his head back to “innocently” blink up at Reki. His fiance's smirk was positively delightful. Even better when it pressed a lingering kiss to his forehead. Reki spoke against his skin in a tease. "Baby in the morning and at noon. You at night." "I hate that your lack of shame rubbed off on him, Langa." Hana snickered. "Not the only thing he rubs-" Langa interrupted that with a loud laugh of his own. "Stop trying to kill Hana on purpose.”“Stop being a tease when I’m streaming.” Reki stood up in a huff and dragged his ringed hand up Langa’s shoulder. “I just opened a door?” He asked in general confusion.Reki playfully tugged on Langa’s pulled up hair with a stick of his tongue out of his mouth and moved to flop into the orange chair next to him across from Hana. “Binders. Yay.” “Shut up Reki.” Hana pulled the one she was holding to her chest in protection. “I will text Claudio. Don’t try me.”Even Langa grimaced at the threat. “He’ll make sure you’re on time for that meeting.”“He’s already got a whole makeup and hair plan..” Reki laughed. “The most supportive weirdo. His collection has grown by the way. He sent me pictures. I feel kinda bad for being so obsessed over Langa for the longest time. It’s super strange when your friends got like.. everything you’ve ever released or done.”Langa did not see a problem with Reki being obsessed with him. He didn’t even have a problem with Claudio being obsessed over the two of them. Langa didn’t realize it back then, but now he knew he really was just the most supportive weirdo. “But!” Hana countered with one finger in the air. “It isn’t just you. He’s got Langa’s too. You know how they make like royal wedding merch in England? You two should make some.” “No.” Reki shook his head adamantly with a chuckle. “Nope. Because there are three people who would actually buy it.”“Your mom.. Langa’s mom..” Hana’s giggles burst out of her mouth every other word and she was almost unable to finish her list. “And Claudio.” Her phone ringing interrupted the collective snickering at the truthful teasing. Hana shot Langa a look. A don't tell him look. But Langa accidentally looked at Reki and because he was brilliant, he figured it out instantly. "Oh looks like it's time to go pack." He pushed himself up with two hands on the arms of the chair. That movement was oddly reminiscent of how Langa's dad got up when he was trying to Canadianly leave a conversation. It made Langa laugh. "No, Reki, she wants to go over wedding stuff and I may be planning it but it's your wedding." Hana argued while she dug her phone out of her bag. Her tone switched from stern to cheerful as she answered her phone. "Kyan-san hello!" "It's Langa's wedding too!" Reki countered and tried to sneak away through the space between the coffee table and Langa. "Have her talk to Langa." "Yes, Reki's right here and-" Hana continued. The knocked over plant from earlier slowed Reki's escape enough for Langa to grab him. He pulled Reki by his hips straight into his lap. Hana beamed at the entrapment. Reki didn't even fight it. He dramatically went limp in Langa's hold and let his fluffy hair hit Langa's shoulder. Arms and legs spread wide to the side like a goofy pouting starfish.Langa nuzzled his nose into Reki's hair and whispered while Hana was caught in an immediate conversation about flowers. "Why are you so grumpy?""I'm not." Reki shifted just slightly to look up at Langa. "I mean I kind of am. I don't wanna leave tomorrow but if I wanna actually be awake by Wednesday I have to. And my mom's gonna talk for like.. ten hours and that takes up all of our time tonight." "Hana wouldn't do that to us." "Hana wouldn't do that to you." Reki emphasized with a tap to his nose. Then he stuck his hand out to receive the phone and brought it up to his ear. "Hi mom." Langa could hear her excited voice even if the phone was on the opposite side of their touching faces. Everyone in the Kyan family was so loud. Except for his step-dad, he was a quiet man who watched all of the chaos of his family with a little smile. Langa liked him. He liked all of them. They all immediately made him feel like part of the family on his first visit to Okinawa when he was so worried about being introduced as a boyfriend. But that dissipated in five minutes of being there and he was comfortable after. He wasn't even nervous about asking for approval for the proposal the second time with how loving they had been. Plus, Koyomi's death glare had nothing on Miya's. "So I really don't care about hems or whatever, mom. Let the twins wear whatever they want. They are kids!" Reki rolled his eyes. Langa smiled. "Then talk to Hana or Nanako-san about it. Why me?" He sounded so exasperated. It was kind of cute. He kept sinking further and further into Langa. An adorable totally-over-wedding-planning ooze. It was completely understandable. There were too many details that everyone but Langa and Reki seemed to care about. It was why Hana was getting paid so much to handle it. They picked the venue, the food, and the date. Everything else, besides vows, was her job. Langa ran his hands up and down Reki's sides in what he hoped was a soothing touch and not teasing. Although, getting in a bit of trouble for it later would be fine with him. Hana had put her full attention on Haakon while Masae continued on the phone.Reki was barely arguing until he suddenly stiffened and slowly rose off of Langa. "What do you mean boyfriend?"Hana and Haakon's ears perked up. One of them spoke. "Who has a boyfriend?""No. She is not bringing a boyfriend to the wedding." Reki sounded more firm about anything than he had in a while. "I don't even know who it is! She can't have a boyfriend.""Oh!" Hana squeaked and started to grab at the air with her hands. "Reki! Gimme! I wanna hear about Koyomi's boyfriend!" Langa laughed and got glared at. "She can bring her boyfriend. It's my wedding too.""Mom, no. Put- yes that was Langa. No.. I don't- Fine." Reki sighed heavily in defeat and handed the phone off to Hana. Then promptly fell back into Langa's lap. "We both know what happens in Hawaii. They are not sharing a room." Langa bit into his lip to try and stop his amusement. It didn't work. He hid his face in Reki's hair instead while Hana excitedly chatted with his mom. She was also quickly adopted. By everyone's families. Reki's, Langa's, and Miya's. "Big brother Reki is adorable." Langa told him softly. The compliment received a huff. "So protective. What will you do when Haakon wants a significant other?" "She's two." Reki said flatly and turned himself to give Langa a look. "And a dog." "Older than Koyomi in human years." "Don't remind me." Langa gently kissed that annoyed expression right off Reki's face. He started along those furrowed eyebrows and moved to his pinched nose. By the time he made it to his pouting lips, they had curled into a smile. Reki met the light press with one of his own and then a playful lick. Hana made herself apparent again with a delighted squeal. Reki gave Langa one more peck and turned to the ladies on the couch. "Hana are you done here?" She nodded and hit the mute button on her phone. "Take the binders with you. It's got the numbers. I'm serious." "I'm seriously going to start stripping Langa." Reki retorted and Langa was totally fine being used as a threat to get her to leave faster. “I have to take care of something before I leave.”She scoffed but couldn't hold back her grin. "Oh, oops, I didn't mute. Sorry, Kyan-san." "Liar." "I know- like teenagers honestly..""Haakon." At her name from dad’s mouth, she sat all the way up on the couch. Giant fluffy head tilting to listen. "Get Hana." Before Hana could react more than a surprised expression, Haakon was jumping on her. Two massive paws straight to poor Hana's chest as she exploded into laughter at the onslaught of dog affection. Reki gave Langa a proud smile at successfully tormenting Hana, like he usually did. He was so cute when he was mischievous. Langa was going to miss him so much the next couple of days. He squeezed Reki's middle as hard as he could. His fiance's giggles were much softer than Hana's. "I'm gonna miss you too." Reki said fondly and pat Langa's hands gently as a cue to let him up. Langa begrudgingly dropped his arms to his sides and Reki went to save Hana after what he deemed a reasonable amount of time. He took his time walking the few steps to the kitchen where they kept the jar of expensive dog treats. He didn't even get it fully into his hands before Haakon was rushing to his side. Good ears.Hana sat up with an unserious huff and dusted herself off with little success. There was dog hair all over her shirt and she shot Reki a glare across the room while she brought the phone back up to her ear. "I'm so sorry, your son treats me so terribly." Langa stifled his laugh at the immediate outrage from Reki. Hana continued on complaining about him while she shoved the wedding binder back into her bag. Once her hands were free she held one out and Langa just blinked at it. She shook it in exaggeration and he was even more confused. "The key, babe." Reki reminded with a laugh. "Oh." Langa had to dig in his pocket to grab it. "I don't understand how you got that from just her hand." "Hana is awful at communicating. Took me forever to figure it out.""You of all people. Shut. up." Hana squeaked in offense and forgot she was on the phone. Langa handed her the key while she backtracked. "No I'm so sorry I meant Reki.. Reki, your mom says shut up." Reki narrowed his eyes at her and just pointed to the front door. "See you in a few days." Hana whispered with a smile to Langa before she rushed to playfully push Reki in the kitchen. "You got this. Good luck." Despite all their banter, Reki picked her up off the floor in a hug and carried her to the front hall. Little brother Reki was adorable too. Langa was proud of his own growth because now watching Reki be affectionate with everyone just made his heart feel like exploding in fondness. Langa's soon to be husband was incredibly caring and loving. Reki loved all of his friends and family so deeply and when he expressed his adoration towards them, they probably felt like Langa did. Lucky to have someone so special in their lives. It was a really good feeling. One Langa didn't mind sharing. Especially when it made Reki happy too. He walked back in the main with a giant smile and a humongous ball of fluff on his heels. Langa grinned at the sight. His little family. Reki distracted Haakon with one of her favorite pastimes, trying to get frozen treats out of one of her toys. Which meant that fantastic wink over the kitchen island was a cue for Langa to get his ass into their bedroom. He almost jumped at the opportunity but Reki was already so fiesty and-"Langa." He pushed himself up out of the heavy lean he was doing with a husky warning. It went straight to Langa's dick. "Yes?"Reki was amused at the playful innocence at least. He usually was. Langa loved the way he dragged his hand along the counter as he strolled around it. "Bedroom." "Not office?" His glittering amber eyes flickered between the door behind Langa and back again. Reki wetted his bottom lip before he sighed. "Fine. Only because I love you and-" At the acceptance, Langa flew out of the chair eagerly. Reki's own charming laughter cut his words off and he followed quickly behind Langa's haste to make it into the still dimly lit room. The led lights Reki used for streaming had multiple colors and Langa set it to his favorite one as Reki slammed the door shut behind them. Langa was promptly pushed up against said door and Reki devoured the immediate pant of excitement. Langa was so lucky. Even though Reki was leaving the next day and the five days separated by an ocean would be the longest they had been apart in two years, he was enthusiastically granting Langa's desires to have something for when he was gone. So, so lucky.________♡________

Did I miss something? Have fun in California and good luck!! ________♡________"Reki!" Claudio's delighted exclamation was easily identifiable in the crowded airport. Reki paused his walking and grinned at his friend barreling towards him in a blur of long curly hair. He spread his arms wide and braced himself for the inevitable tackle. Claudio slammed into him and knocked them both down to the tiled floor. "I missed you. So much!" Claudio punctuated his sentimentality with a painful squeeze. Reki was wheezing and laughing underneath him. "Oh my god dude. I missed you too." "It's been like twenty years." He whined right into Reki's ear before he pushed himself up with a hop and extended a hand down. "It's been a few months." Reki rolled his eyes in fondness and took the assistance to get to his feet. "You shaved your beard." Claudio nodded before he tucked his curls behind his ear. "Gets too hot in the summer.""You had it in the picture you just posted." He was tired but not that tired. It was just last week. "Yeah and then it was too hot." Reki decided not to question it further and Claudio didn't give him a chance to. "So you said you're gonna need to sleep but you should probably eat. I have a spot in mind unless you wanna head to my house right away and I can make anything from pizza to pastelon." "Wait, Claudio-" "But I totally get it if you wanna just sleep, man, it's not a long drive but you could probably nap.. I'm really hoping you don't need to actually sleep for three days because there's so much I want to do with you here like I want to-""Claudio." Reki had to jog after him as his friend was excitedly rambling and leaving him behind in an airport. "I won't actually. We can do whatever. I just need to sleep before the meeting." "Your meeting! Big huge important successful business owner meeting that I will have you looking handsome for." Claudio wrapped an arm around Reki and smashed him against his side. He slowed his rushed pace at least but it was very awkward to walk like that. "Have I told you I am so proud of you?"Reki's face flushed bright red and he pushed Claudio away with a laugh. "Yes you tell me all the time.. Now stop, let's go get food before nap time." A humongous amount of nostalgia rushed over Reki as the bright sunshine of San Jose stung his sleepy eyes. He was back where his skateboarding career really started. Except they weren't in the city for long, it was just the closet to fly into. The Street League Skateboarding competition was in San Francisco that weekend and so was the meeting. Claudio lived in Santa Cruz, which was nearby both of those places. Or so he said but a half hour into the drive, Reki was wondering if they had different ideas of not long. They certainly had different ideas of what constituted a city because when Claudio gently shook Reki awake from an accidental nap, they were definitely in a forest. “This part of the drive is the prettiest.” He said with a huge smile. Reki rubbed his eyes and glanced out the windshield to see a winding road ahead and huge trees. Reki couldn’t even see the tops of them and he leaned forward and looked up and the window to see that they were absolute towering giants shadowing the entire area. Out the of side window, there was a steep embankment right next to the road. Where trees lined the entire hill in dark bark and bright green leaves. It was beautiful.“Woah.” Reki was a little awed by the scenery. Okinawa was a little swampy and Tokyo’s parks were nothing like this. It wasn’t like the snow covered forests in Canada either. At times it was like the sprawling forest would swallow the road with how near it got. Claudio’s large car felt too big for the space they were driving through, especially when another car came from the other direction but it was kinda cool. It got cooler the longer they drove, taking the turns in the woods was pretty fun. Reki wasn’t even the least bit bothered to be woken up for the view. It was awesome. They passed by a few houses either set back in the brush or down long driveways but there were barely any signs of civilization by the time Claudio turned into his own driveway. It was a circle drive with a tree and flowers in the center. Reki’s assumptions about his friend were being thrown out the window. He lived in the woods, in what looked to be a tiny olive green house. In front of was a deck surrounded by big leafy bushes. It was a few steps to the left of the glass paned door. Reki was letting his disbelief fall out of his mouth while Claudio helped grab his luggage from the trunk of his black sedan. “When you said, I live in Santa Cruz, I thought.. I don’t know a California city. Not the middle of nowhere.”Claudio laughed brightly and led the way underneath a pergola to his front door. “We are twenty minutes from Santa Cruz. An hour from San Francisco and San Jose. It’s the middle but not of nowhere.”“You live in the woods.” “Kind of.”“I don’t picture you living in the woods.” Reki said with certainty. That was where he pictured Langa’s dad living. In their cabin. Claudio's house was nothing like the cozy Christmas place in the mountains. His house was bigger on the inside. Huge vaulted ceilings covered in knotted pine which matched the trim of the loft and all the railings. There were multiple skylights and large windows in the open concept space that allowed the sunlight to douse the sunken living room and little kitchen. The furniture was matching. There was a large sectional couch that looked comfortable set along the wall opposite a fireplace. In the bright dining area was a pub height table with coordinated stools. It was very adult-like. Nothing like the bachelor pad Reki had imagined from the few pictures of Claudio’s merch corner. Reki stood in shock at the doorway while Claudio was heading around the half wall into the kitchen. “You’re a whole adult.” “Last time I checked.” Claudio shot him a grin before he disappeared. “But I do have the money to make inner child Claudio very happy.”“What does that mean?” “Hold on, I'm grabbing you a snack first.” Claudio didn’t give Reki the chance to debate on shoes on or off in his surprisingly very nice house. He was back as quickly as he left with a sandwich that he shoved into Reki’s hands. “I’ll show you the yard before the room you’re staying in.”Reki followed behind him through one of the three doors that led outside. There was another deck that wrapped around the back of the house, this one with leaf-covered railings from the small garden set between it and a retaining wall. The house sat higher above the lower side yard with a slab of level concrete set in the sloping dirt. Vert ramps were in the process of being built near the back of the yard and on the concrete at the front there was a single bar rail that led to some curiously placed plywood. Like a makeshift downhill path. “Why not an inground pool?” Reki immediately thought aloud at seeing his friend's cool backyard skatepark. “Instead of that slab. It’s good for street practice but not for park.”Claudio whined. “See I knew you were gonna say that! Criticism right away Reki, I am offended.”“I didn’t mean to! It's dope, I’m just confused.”“Well the vert ramps are gonna be done by the end of summer. I didn’t need to rush it since it’s not like Langa, Tess, and I need practice. But I had a cool idea for the concrete. How much would I have to pay you to make it?”Reki was about to bite into the sandwich in his hand but it stopped just short of his dropped mouth. “What?”“Make a street set up. Like mini ramps and a box and stuff. I want you to paint it too.” Claudio said airly like that was a thing to ask for randomly. “Like, this week?” Reki’s eyes widened further. “I don’t think I can-”“Noo.” He laughed during the interruption. “Like eventually.”The breath of relief was very audible. “Oh. Yeah, eventually. That’s very doable.” “Me hoping my hospitality wins out and you want to come back to Cali.” “I like California.” Reki nodded with certainty and finally took that bite. He talked around the food. “Wouldn’t need to pay me. Just have all the supplies next time.” “Bet!” Claudio stuck his hand out for a fist bump that Reki hit with a matching grin. “Reki said next time.. Gonna pay him anyway..” His excitement radiated off of him like it usually did as he continued to talk to himself like Reki wasn’t there. It was adorable, hilarious, and it distracted Reki from questioning the weird rail set up. Claudio led the way back into the house and gave a tour of his huge house while Reki stuffed his face and nodded along. Thankfully he got the embarrassing merch corner out of the way first. Although Reki was a little proud to see Claudio’s commissioned board had clearly been used even if it hung on the wall in between posters from WorldSk8. Reki didn’t realize they made those. His fiance on another man’s wall was a little weird, but their plushes sat beneath it on a shelf covered in medals and magazines. It reminded him of his own office.. Guess he really shouldn’t judge Claudio. Reki was staying in one of five bedrooms. It was a bright room with a three-paned window above the king sized bed and yet another door that led outside. That one had a little patio and a pretty view of the lush forest just beyond it. The second best bedroom in the house, Claudio said, with an attached bathroom. A fancy glass shower too. Once again their opinions of what constituted the best were different because his own room was upstairs and much smaller but with a nice beamed ceiling. Claudio explained he preferred the skylights and being upstairs when he had guests, which was pretty often. Yun was going to stay up there too while Kendrick and Tess would be on the main floor. The question of how he had such a nice house was answered easily by the explanation of the arrangements. It’s how his parents used to place guests when they used the house as their vacation spot. After the home tour was finished, and Reki complained that he wanted to build up that treehouse in the yard too, he was sent off for a nap before Langa would wake him up at five local time. Claudio had a whole list of stuff he wanted to do while Reki stayed with him, starting that night. And even though Reki was beyond exhausted by that point in explanations, he was just as eager to spend a fun week with his friends. Even if there were a few obligations sprinkled in. Work was never really work, especially not when he got to travel and hang out with amazing people.

________♡________After Reki got used to having to ride in the car everywhere, staying with Claudio was awesome. He had taken him to a bunch of really good restaurants, a lot near the beach. They’d joked about being on a date while watching the sunset at the Santa Cruz Wharf. They also went surfing there and saw sea lions, which was really cool even if they smelled so bad. The day of the meeting they explored a little bit of San Francisco, mainly to see that famous bridge. It was a whole experience. Reki was definitely coming back to California, often. He wanted to show Langa all the cool things too. His favorite travel partner. Who he missed terribly. Sleeping without him once the jetlag wore off was pretty awful. Langa was such a sweetheart and talked to Reki every night, which was afternoon for him, and texted him a bunch of pictures of himself and Haakon so it wasn’t like Reki was missing too much at home with the way he got updates. Even if they were mostly food and occasionally friends, it was much appreciated. Especially the sexier pictures. Those got added to the giant folder of just Langa’s beautiful face and body on Reki’s phone. The only downside to that was Claudio was still incredibly nosey and wanted Reki to tell Langa hello from him, like he couldn’t just text him himself, and he ended up looking at the wrong moment. That was the first time he’d seen Claudio blush and it was hilarious. Reki almost died laughing in the car on the way to the airport to pick up the rest of their friend group. Kendrick, Tess and Yun got in on Thursday and the lobby was full of tackled hugs that might have given at least one of them a concussion. They weren’t as jet lagged so they went out to dinner in San Jose before heading back to Claudio’s house for shenanigans that Reki was a little bit glad that Langa wasn’t there for. They were incredibly dumb. The purpose of the rail and the plywood was revealed. Drunken skateboard bowling. The stupidest thing they could have possibly done two days before a big competition. Risking an injury for the laughs. Reki and Yun were the most apprehensive, as they should have been, but by the third or fourth drink and how fun it looked, they joined in. Claudio’s backyard was lit up with string lights between the trees, perfect for hanging out outside in the cooler night time air. They were sitting on that slab of concrete on their boards with drinks in their hands watching whoever’s turn it was grind down that rail, hit the plywood, hit the second rail, and try to get a strike with the pins set up at the bottom. “So this is.. Definitely practice.” Reki laughed as he took his position a few steps back from the start of the course. “And here I thought that was tomorrow after we get Langa.”“We are still going tomorrow.” Kendrick assured with a volume level of pure drunkenness. “We gotta complete our brilliant idea!”Reki remembered with a grin as he turned around to the smiling faces behind him. "I missed you guys." "I just saw you!" Yun teased with a wink. "I'm in Tokyo all the time. Now go down the death trap." "Okay okay." Reki conceded while Claudio loudly defended his homemade game and Kendrick yelled at her for interrupting the sentimentality. Tess just laughed. Reki couldn't help but giggle either. Mostly at the stupidity.Balancing while tipsy was enough of a task. Add in on top of a skateboard and his first grind was so clumsy. He landed so off and almost ran right off the middle plywood. Reki had to hit the second rail with a more technical grind that he somehow nailed and managed to get back on the path only for his good luck to run out. He flew forward while his board went backwards and he ended up rolling into the pins on the bail. A "you good?" rang out from somewhere up the hill and Reki stuck a thumbs up in the air as it was all he could manage with how hard he was laughing. When he was finally composed enough to heave himself off the ground, the group sitting on the concrete cheered far too loudly for such an awful run. The celebration was only warranted for the strike he managed, with his body. Reki took his drink back from Tess at the top of the hill with a wide grin. "That's fun as hell." "Reki and his jazzy ways!" Kendrick was already trashed, leaning his head on her shoulder. Not much has changed with him, just the new addition of a nose piercing he rocked. "No wonder our baby won a gold medal.""You act like he is our child." Tess snickered and patted her drunken husband's head gently. She had grown her hair out a little on the top and dyed it red. The new style looked really good on her and Reki liked that they kinda matched. "I mean I totally take credit for Reki's success. That's basically being a parent." "No it's not." Reki scoffed a laugh that was met with an exaggerated wink. Kendrick was so goofy when he was drunk."Gosh the Olympics were fun." Yun reminisced with a smile. Her long dark hair was down and she pushed it behind her ear when she got up to take her turn at bowling.Claudio nodded eagerly in agreement but had to swallow before he could talk. "All of us together and competing again. That was awesome. Except I wish it wasn't separated. Freestyle and mixed would have been cool.""Yeah really only Reki and Kendrick competed and Claudio and Langa." "And only one of us got a gold medal and an engagement ring." Kendrick whined. Tess rolled her eyes. "We decided to not do the engagement thing or the wedding thing." "I know but it was so romantic! Why is Langa the most suave dude in the world? In Paris, in front of the world. Who can live up to that?" Reki blushed despite the very public proposal already being a year ago. "I love him so much.." "We know." The collective acknowledgement was followed by a round of laughter. It followed Yun to the bottom of the hill as she knocked half the pins down but managed to stay on her board all the way to the bottom. It made Reki wish they would be in the same group on Saturday and it gave him a far fetched idea. He took a sip of alcohol for good measure and waited for Yun to get back into their little skateboard circle before he spewed it to his friends. “What if we set up our own competition?” Reki started with and when there was no immediate disagreement he continued. “Not like.. soon, ‘cause of the wedding and the winter olympics but in a couple years. Then it could be freestyle and mixed. Like tour.. But better.”Everyone was far too quiet. Reki got nervous but thankfully Claudio spoke up. “Like tour but better.. So no stabbing.”“Okay.” Reki snorted and Claudio smiled. “No stabbing. So indoor and we could invite everyone from tour plus some more people, like the ones we met in Paris. Lower the age to twelve and get some of these crazy good kids in it too. I could sponsor it..”Kendrick suddenly flew up off of Tess. “No, that's a really, really good idea.”“It is.” Tess nodded. “I mean there’s the x-games for park and vert but that’s as separate events too.”Reki was becoming more certain in his idea. “They don’t do amateur events either. I think doing something local in addition to it would be really cool.”Yun hummed in thought. “We could make a series.. Multiple cities.” “And a mixed course to encourage street and park skating. Like a park but carefully crafted so runs could incorporate both.”“You would be perfect at planning that.” “No.” Kendrick put his hand up in a gesture to stop which confused Reki for a second but luckily he spoke fast. “No, Reki. Seriously. This is fucking brilliant. You’re taking the idea for tomorrow and turning it huge. Encouraging a new generation of skateboarders dude. I’m serious, what other tours are about more than just the pros? Only the local ones. We take the global stage and make it local. And we do it better than world skate.” Oh, Hana was going to kill him because the second everyone was completely in and pitching even more ideas, Reki was sold on his own vision. The problem with coming up with plans with the announcers was no one could decide on a name. Generally names were what really solidified things, they would get there eventually. They had all night. ________♡________
Sunshine so.. HYPOTHETICALLY
If there was a freestyle comp
That was kindaaaa like world skate
But better

#1DADDY we could set them up like targets too! Have to hit them down with a trick.
Nyan Carla could calculate the best spots in the warehouse to put them for maximum difficulty..

#1DADDY good night Reki!
________♡________Langa was so god damned cute when he was tired. Reki's beautiful fiancé shuffled through the airport like a zombie until he caught sight of Reki then Langa beamed. He must have seen Reki's hop in excitement before he started running and spread his arms in anticipation. Instead of tackling Langa, Reki jumped right onto him. He squeezed him tight enough for Langa to make a noise but he returned it with just as much enthusiasm before Reki sat up in his arms to bring their lips together. "I missed you baby." Langa said in between kisses. Reki was smiling too wide to meet most of them but that was alright because only a few were on his lips. The rest were peppered all over his face. "I missed you too. Were you able to sleep?" "The last half." Langa nodded lightly. "Still want a nap." "Okay. I'll make it happen." Reki bonked their foreheads together and took a second to savor Langa's embrace before he got down. "And food." He added while tangling their fingers together. "Course. We have plans for that, don't worry." Langa waved before he switched languages. "Hi Kendrick." "Hey Langa!" Kendrick looked excited to see him too. "I'd hug you but you're attached." Langa smiled and held out his free hand for a dap which Kendrick met with a delighted noise. That was cute. Reki tugged sleepy, but surprisingly in a good mood, Langa towards the exit of the airport in excitement to snuggle him on the drive back to Claudio's. Tess was waiting by the car with a smile. She didn't care about Reki being attached to him. She hugged Langa without hesitation and was very chatty as they made their way out of the busy airport. Reki took over on catching up talks while Langa slowly slumped further and further into Reki's side. He pulled Langa to lay on his lap and traced his skin idly as he fell asleep. Reki wouldn't wake him up for the cool road, Langa would have another chance to see it and he was exhausted. Sleeping was harder for him while Reki wasn't home.Kendrick was having the time of his life driving Claudio's car. Especially through the forest. Apparently it was a really nice car and he was shocked Reki didn't notice. To which Reki argued that he only paid attention to one thing with four wheels, which reminded all of them they needed to stop at the local skate shop before they headed to the parks that day. First on Reki's agenda was feeding Langa. Yun and Claudio made a huge brunch in the two hours they were gone and that woke Langa up from his position slumped over Reki's shoulders as they made it through the front door. In Claudio's kitchen he had a breakfast nook where the table was covered in everything from fruit and yogurt to pancakes and bacon. Reki was pretty sure he got drooled on before Langa tried to make straight for the food. Claudio hugged him before he let him pass with a loud laugh. "Aw, I am so happy right now.""Your two favorite people are in your house." Yun teased and whipped the towel she was holding at his ass. He squeaked and hid behind Reki to avoid the second attempt. "All my favorite people." Reki immediately moved out of Claudio's defense to take the seat next to Langa. Claudio tried Tess next who did the exact same thing. Only she didn't get a forkful of food shoved at her face like Reki did. Reki pushed it away to kiss Langa instead. Who grumbled against Reki's mouth but the noise changed to pleased when Reki's hand found his thigh under the table. Plus he dutifully opened his mouth when he pulled back. Langa's light laughter joined Kendrick's ringing through the bright kitchen as Claudio was far more successful at using him as a human shield. This was how mornings tended to be when they were all together. Tons of food, day drinking, and goofing off. Only, Reki and Langa were a bit more affectionate in front of them than they usually were. Everyone in their lives got used to the sappiness eventually. This supportive group encouraged it as teasing while the family tended to mock. Reki wasn't sure which he preferred, most of the time it went on one ear and out the other but once Langa got a drink in him.. By then they were all seated and Reki was snuggled up under Langa's long arm getting fed occasionally while they were talking about the weekend ahead. "We are absolutely playing games tonight." Claudio nodded along with himself."No more bowling." Kendrick said with a shake of his head as he set his mimosa down. "I fell so hard on the last one." "No I mean like cards or DND or something." Tess clicked her tongue in disappointment and stole the rest of the orange juice. "Damn. I was hoping to kick your ass in video games again." "I won last time?" Langa sounded so smug. It made Reki laugh. "Langa seriously destroyed us all." Claudio grimaced at the memory. Reki didn't even make it to the end of the game. It was Mario party night. Where you had to take as many shots as what you placed in the mini games. He had lost the first one and it was all downhill from there. And not the fun downhill. He could hold his alcohol pretty well and still ended up dying on a bathroom floor the entire night kind of downhill. "I thought for sure I had the best fingers." Yun smirked from her perch on one of the tall stools. "Well then Reki shouldn't have done so badly." Langa said airly. "Because he -"Reki's hand flew up over his mouth but it got immediately licked by Langa. Who was determined to be raunchy at the breakfast table. "Because he is good at fingering. Don't censor me." Langa shot him an unserious glare that turned into a tipsy giggle. Adorable. Reki wasn't even mad. "It's too early for you to be spilling details." He argued anyway. "They know everything."Tess snickered. "We know everything because you are loud and Olympic arrangements were very close together."Reki's blush started on his nose but quickly spread all the way to his ears at the laughter. "That was an accident..""Did you guys know his office is soundproof though?" Langa smirked. "Oh!" Something about that fact piqued Kendrick's interests. "Did you finally get him to do it Langa?""Yep." That pretty smirk turned into a dangerous grin.Reki was lost but Claudio got his question out first and so loudly it shook the table. "Did you guys make a sextape?!" Yun barked a laugh while Reki's jaw dropped. His head snapped to Langa who started to nod but both of Reki's hands flew to his face to stop the confirmation. That was far too much information. Langa started to laugh and by the time Reki had successfully changed the movement to say no, he was almost fully bent over. "Stop encouraging him." Reki whined as his lovely fiancé fell straight onto his lap. "How the fuck do you even know?"Kendrick took the question directed at him with a smile. "We text all the time dude." Langa nodded. "Kendick and I talk about everything.""I know." Reki smiled down at him before he covered those beautiful shining ocean eyes with his hand in playfulness. "I didn't think sexual fantasies were included in that." Kendrick shrugged. "I asked." "Why?" “We took a quiz.” He shrugged again after explaining nothing and started to laugh. “Oh Langa, you’ll agree with me. Look at this pinecone air bnb that's close by. We should have stayed here! Imagine. Just imagine.” Reki released his blindfold on Langa so he could sit up and see what Kendrick was showing him. His laughter had faded back to a charming smile but Tess was still giggling. There must be more to that but Reki wasn't sure if he wanted to know. Confirmed when Langa and Kendrick started to go on about windows and the perfectly placed bed.Claudio made some sort of hum before he shook his own head as if clearing his thoughts. Yun teased him when she noticed the movement. "Were you imagining it?""How could I not?" He sounded defensive instead of flustered. "Although since they switch I was wondering-""Okay." Reki cut off that before Langa decided to go into explicit detail to enlighten him. "So we should focus on skateboarding. Where switching means stance and not-"Langa interrupted him by grabbing both sides of his reddened face and planting a gentle kiss to his lips that made Reki's heart thrum in fondness. "God damn, they are cute." "I hate it and love it at the same time."Reki smiled as Langa brushed their noses together. He spoke low and only meant for him. "I missed you so much. Sorry for teasing.""S'okay." Reki assured him with a pat to his thigh followed by a playful grab. He really didn't mind. They both liked to show off in different ways. Reki just kept his a little more 15+ nowadays while Langa was 18+. To their friends while drinking. Not the internet like Reki did. Thank God. He was still in trouble with his family for blocking them after the implied video. Reki had posted enough after it to re-add them and kept the content mostly family friendly after.Surprisingly Claudio was the one to steer the conversation back on track. He took his role of host very seriously and insisted Langa go sleep off the drinks before they headed out for the day. Reki didn't need more than a tug on his shirt to lay down with his fiancé. He was eager to get cuddles and would happily miss out on cleaning up breakfast. Reki showed him the room they were staying in and when they shut the door behind them, the wood did a decent job of blocking out the noise from the house. There was some muffled laughter right as Langa face-planted into the mattress and started to whine. "I am so tired but I don't wanna sleep the whole day away. We are only here for a little bit." He turned his head on the pillow to let Reki hear him. Reki nodded and lifted Langa's spread arm so he could slide in underneath it and nudge Langa into rolling to his side. As soon as he did, Reki was pressed up against his chest and tangling their legs together. His clinginess was well received.Langa let out the happiest sound and held Reki tight. "Fuck I missed you.""You said that." Reki teased and nuzzled into Langa's shirt. Langa’s soft hand slid into red locks and his fingertips started to massage Reki’s scalp. Reki completely melted at the affection."I know. And you missed me.""Course I did, beautiful."Langa lifted his face to press a light kiss to his forehead. “Don’t let me sleep too long. I’m excited to go skating with you.”“I’m excited too.” “And I wanna go to the beach you sent pictures of.”“Okay. Langa, go to sleep silly.” Reki laughed lightly and was hugged tighter in vain obstinance. “We are going tonight and we have all Sunday to explore too.” “Kay.”________♡________

That’s where Langa, Tess, and Claudio headed straight for. Leaving behind the other half of the group in haste to be the first one to skate in it. Reki laughed loudly when Langa was slowed by making sure he placed a kiss on red hair before he ran off with them. They completely ignored the people that were clearly there for them too. Kendrick and Reki were left to deal with fans, fitting as it was their idea in the first place. Although Yun helped. There were lots of adults looking to get boards that Kendrick was turning away with charming mocking about the state of their graphics. No scratches, no new board. It was a good way to make sure they didn’t run out in the first five minutes of being there. Reki was mostly chatting with the kids, which was so fun. They were so excited to show off tricks, they didn’t even care about free things. Reki had to pretend to be really into scooters for a few of them. Yet it was easy to enthusiastically cheer for their tricks after he tried one, it almost took out his shin. Once they managed to get through the initial rush of pictures and questions, they were finally able to get into the park with a seat right in the middle of the street skating area and near where their lovely park friends were having some sort of competition like they usually did. Then Kendrick could practice. Reki sat on the other side of the speaker completely content helping the little kid with the most chipped board and best ollie pick out the wheels he wanted. “Look at Tess’s grab!” Kendrick completely caught her off guard with his first words into the microphone he brought. Reki saw her glare because he actually looked and burst into laughter. “Did you not tell her?” Kendrick shook his head and winked. “And there’s Claudio with a beautifully executed exit from the pool to laugh at me. Wait - that kid just nailed his nollie. Let’s go! So structured!”“Structured.” Reki parroted with a grin. His giggle was picked up clearly into the microphone. “No doubt. Do another one, kid with the blue helmet- yes you.” The kid in the blue helmet was absolutely beaming. He adjusted his feet on his board and popped his board up successfully and stuck his arms up in a triumphant cheer. Reki, Yun, and Kendrick cheered for him too. It wasn’t possible for the little dude to smile any bigger but he tried. He ran up what had to be his mom pointing at them with that excitement. He was the first of many people to be excited by getting their tricks "professionally" announced and cheered for. “Here you go bud.” Reki handed off the fully built board to the young kid who had waited so patiently. He bounced on his feet in excitement and showed off the graphic of the pop art dinosaur right to the person it was inspired by. Claudio bent down to get a better look at it as he pushed his hair back with a huge smile. “That’s rad, dude. Eighth gear exclusive like me and Langa!” “Yours doesn’t have a gear on it.” The kid astutely pointed out. “Yeah Claudio.” Reki teased. “Where’s your eighth gear board?”He spun on his heel with a wave and ran straight back to the pool to presumably hide in the tunnel. Reki snickered at the dramatics. “Okay go try it out! Have fun.” “Thanks Reki! You’re the coolest.” Reki kinda felt like the coolest. He’d gotten much more used to getting recognized and it was almost always for skating these days. Everyone at the park was super nice and most of the chatting was about the SLS coming up the next day with him and Yun. She helped build a few boards with Reki while Kendrick was announcing his heart out and teasing his wife. When Reki actually got up off the ground to skate, Langa came and stole him. He pulled Reki by the waist to the edge of the inground pool with a smile. “With me please?” It was so incredibly hard to say no to those sparkling eyes, but Reki had to. “I have to practice street.” “You can hold my hand for five seconds and practice street after.” Langa countered with a perfect pout. Reki loved to argue despite caving immediately. “It’ll be longer than five seconds.” Langa just ignored it and grabbed Reki's hand. He set his board's tail on the coping and innocently blinked as he waited for Reki to join him. They couldn't exactly skate hand in hand on the curved walls but that didn't stop Langa from trying. Always attempting the impossible that one, and usually succeeding. They dropped in and Reki let Langa take the lead. The speed Langa got on the curved walls was far too much to keep up with, but Reki could get pulled along just fine. When it came time to hit the tunnel, they were back side by side. Langa went up one wall and Reki went up the other, still attached by a strained hand-embrace as Reki was laughing and trying to remain attached. He couldn't wall ride as high as he would have liked to, but neither could Langa. After the brief trick, they ended up smashing into each other on the flat ground. Their boards collided right as their bodies did. Langa's laughter echoed much like Reki's did when he somehow managed to catch both of their balances with his free hand on Reki's waist."You're ridiculous and impressive." Reki complimented his bright eyed boyfriend with a grin. Langa smiled, all large and toothy. "That's you." A kiss planted right on Reki's cheek before they started to skate again had Reki completely enamored with seeing what they could do synchronously with park style skating. It wasn't as easy as street and definitely not what he should have been practicing but he didn't care. Being attached to his forever skating partner and trading innocent enough affection after landing tricks was always so fun. They ended up staying in Santa Cruz and not making it to the other park. Everyone was busy skating or chatting with people to realize it had been much longer than they expected it to be. The only, extremely reliable, notice of the passage of time was Langa’s stomach making itself known to Reki who was holding around it. Reki nosed into his damp from the summer sun hair with a smile and was about to ask Langa if he wanted to corral their friends with him but his name from someone who sounded very excited interrupted the thought. “Reki! Oh dope we caught you!” Reki set his hands on Langa’s hips and turned in the direction of the lively voice. A guy with pale pink hair and a bright smile was crossing the street space and almost got run over by a skater coming out of a grind. He stepped out of the way with an apology and a laugh. Reki recognized the board in his hands, one he had made. The guy was crazy fast, he took three more steps and was right next to Reki and Langa, who startled at the proper hello he gave. “Hey! Oh. You’re all here.” The guy smiled wide and looked around. “Yun too! That’s so cool.”“We came here because you said they would all be here.” Another guy, this one with dark hair that flew every which way and a very unamused look on his sharp face, said with a bite. He stood next to the pink-haired boy and punched him in the arm. It didn’t phase him at all, and that was wild because it looked full strength. “Hey.” Reki said with a nervous laugh at the weird violence. “Yeah everyone’s here. What’s up man? Nice board.”Langa moved out of Reki’s hands and placed himself protectively between Reki and the two guys. Which was unnecessary but sweet. Reki stepped forward and put them side-by-side instead. The pink haired guy bounced on his feet, a grin still firmly spread across his face. “You made it!” He said excitedly. “I was wondering if you’d sign it,"“He knows he made it.” Dark-haired guy rolled his eyes and looked away. “I remember making it.” Reki smiled despite that guy’s attitude that didn’t seem very serious at all. The board was truly one of a kind and he was trying to remember the name on the order. “The only longboard I’ve ever made. Umm.. I can remember your exact dimensions but not your name. I'm sorry. What is it again?” His glittering brown eyes widened. “This is the only one you’ve made? Are you serious? I thought you made all kinds because you had some surf style ones and I was gonna get one of those but I really like long boards and -”“Oh my god, Yuji. He only asked your name.” Once again the puncher interrupted him, this time he was blushing. Presumably Yuji did too and smiled a little softer with a laugh. “Sorry! I’m excited. You’re my favorite skater. I’m Yuji and this Megumi. Who I dragged along and is not as grumpy as he sounds right now.” “Nice to meet you in person.” Reki said with a grin and a nod. “Yeah, only longboard but I liked the design you wanted. I don’t usually do traditional Japanese stuff but the tiger and shrine were a cool idea.” “Oh, the tiger.” Langa realized softly. He liked that graphic too, not that he didn’t like all of Reki’s, but he was particularly complimentary over the tattoo kind of style Reki had tried and was nervous about. Yuji adjusted his board in his hands to beam over the top of the colorful graphic. He took good care of it but there were signs of use that made Reki extremely happy. “Will you sign it? Please!”“You could have asked when you ordered it but yeah of course dude.” Reki looked for Kendrick who had the permanent marker in his pocket. He was in the middle of getting shoved off his skateboard by Yun right before she hit the ledge box with a flawless backside crooked that Reki wanted to immediately try. Kendrick dragged his board back to his feet and pouted. “You thwarted me!”“No one says thwarted.” She laughed and whipped her hair over her shoulder. “And I’m one up in the competition now.” Langa perked up, predictably. Reki interrupted whatever was going on by sticking his hand in Kendrick’s pocket to grab it. He was unphased but whined to Langa about being groped when Langa left Reki with the Yuji to join them. “Are you guys here for a little bit?” He asked as he handed over his board. “I’m gonna watch the SLS stream at home but it’d be so cool to skate with you.” Reki took it and signed near the trucks where it’d actually show up. “I think so. If they have a game going on. Supposed to go get dinner soon though.” “Oh. Since you're visiting the bay area, you gotta go to Togos here. They have the best sandwiches. Especially the number twenty six but be sure to get it on dutch crunch.”“Yeah?” Reki smiled and handed his board back. “I promised Langa he’d get to choose but he’s not picky at all and recommendations are nice.”“He’s not picky either.” Megumi actually smiled but he hid it by looking away. “He would eat anything. Even trash.”“That’s not..” Yuji started but then burst out laughing. “That was one time, and they just threw away perfectly good food! It was still wrapped and everything.”“You ate out of the garbage. Like a raccoon.”“I got free food.” The complete nonchalance and clear disgust was hilarious. Even if it wasn’t, Yuji’s amusement was kind of contagious. Bright laughter that didn’t only make Reki laugh but his seemingly grumpy friend too. Reki would bet that the next roll of his dark blue eyes was in fondness. “Reki you’re up!” Claudio yelled from nearby. “Backside crooked on the ledge. Langa missed it. Redeem your combined name.”Reki turned to see Langa’s narrowed eyes on Claudio. “He missed it.” Claudio reiterated before Langa could argue whatever technicality he looked like he was about to. “But so did I. Tess has to go yet but one of us park people gotta advance so we can get you guys on the next trick.”Reki didn’t understand any bit of that besides doing a trick, which was fine. He turned to the two guys still standing near him. “You can join if you want. If you could land a grind like that on your longboard I’d be impressed.” He teased but gestured to where they had left some of the leftover Santa Cruz boards. “Or go ahead and grab a street one to use and keep.”“You serious?” Yuji asked with a glance to where Reki had pointed. “We can just like skate with the pros?!”“Yeah.” Reki nodded enthusiastically. “We aren’t pros right now, just skaters.” “Megumi!” He jumped and turned to his friend who startled at the quick exclamation. “C’mon I’ll hold your hand!” “No. That sounds incredibly moronic.” Megumi shook his head adamantly.“Please! Come on!” “Nope. I don’t want to fall. My head isn’t as hard as yours.”“There’s helmets..” Reki chimed as he walked to where Langa was waiting for him. “And it’s fun!”The convincing went on in the background when Reki made it to the group standing around. His beautiful group of friends, all of them with smiles. Langa was the prettiest and even though Reki was supposed to be there to take his turn, he let Langa pick him straight off the ground and thoroughly distract him from skating once more with a squeeze of an embrace and kisses peppered all over his hair. Langa’s good mood was beyond contagious, it was intoxicating. Reki loved when he was delighted. He usually was, but there was always something special about traveling with Langa. His playfulness in unfamiliar surroundings was nostalgic and new at the same time. Sunshine was always so beautiful on him, hitting the blues of his eyes perfectly, and the Californian sun wasn’t any different. Reki didn’t think it was possible but every time he got to see Langa smiling with a new background behind him, he loved him a little bit more. That was just one of many of Langa’s specialties, making the improbable completely realistic. ________♡________

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
The atmosphere at the SLS was a little more competitive than the X-Games was. Or at least that's how it felt for Langa. He wasn't sure about how Reki was feeling besides excited. His beautiful fiance was a bright and shining ball of energy like he usually was and even when that smile faded to concentration as he practiced, he would be back to beaming even when he missed a trick. The course was pretty neat, not as gimmicky as the last street setup Reki had skated but still creative. Langa thought the ramen noodle planters were funny, an interesting way to incorporate sponsors that wasn't just a logo plastered on pristine concrete. He was standing at the top of the course, next to a monitor where the scores would be displayed later in the day, watching open practice. The arena was pretty big and even though it was empty of fans, it was full of the sounds of skateboards clacking, wheels popping, and chatter. Besides the announcing group, every pro-skater knew each other in some capacity. Either in passing, online, or from competitions. Reki was talking to everyone he was near but with Yun mostly. Because she was in the woman's group, he was also with the younger girls. Who were insane for their age. So incredibly talented, the youngest being only thirteen. It was much different than the men's groups. There were four of those. Reki was in the third one with four other guys. Ages ranging from sixteen to thirty-six. The way the SLS worked; there was a knockout round within the groups first, then the highest score would move on to the finals. Both included three forty five second runs for the skaters to utilize the course and try and get the best score possible but they also had two opportunities at something like a best trick competition. Two chances to earn a score that, pending on how technical of a trick it was, could replace one of their low scoring runs and bump their overall score up even higher. Reki had made Langa watch the last three SLS competitions with him in preparation and it seemed the system created far more drama than the X-Games did. Most of the competitions came down to the last trick or the last run. There wasn't a clear winner until all the scores were in. Exciting and nail biting. Langa was looking forward to it, especially being able to cheer on Reki. The way Reki skated was so casual, like he wasn't even in a competition. He had so much fun just being on his board, if Langa didn't know any better, he would assume that Reki didn't even know he was doing high difficulty tricks with ease. He absolutely knew better. Reki was very proud of what he was able to do and as he fucking should be. He was amazing. Olympic gold medalist his second year of professionally skating. But Reki was still considered a rookie because this was his first time at SLS but that title didn't bother him. Langa was so proud of how far Reki had come in terms of self-esteem, especially related to his skating. When the story finally was told about why Tokyo Skate three years ago was his first competition, Langa understood a bit more. He wished he knew him back then beyond just a series of videos and streams so he could have told Reki how incredible he was. He deserved to hear it but Langa could then, at every and any opportunity, and he took it. Reki made his way back to where Langa was standing with a beautiful smile. "Did you see that half-cab?" "You didn't do one." Langa pointed out and made grabby hands for his fiance's waist. "I saw your tre flip and it was perfect, like you." Reki let Langa grab him and plant a kiss right to the corner of those smiling lips with a light laugh. "No, Chloe is so good. Yun has some real competition today and she's so excited about it. I have competition today too, it's like having to compete against Miya again. I wish he was here, sucks the timing didn't match up." "He's been asking me for footage of practice." "That why you had your phone out? Here I thought you were adding to your collection." Reki teased and brushed Langa's hair behind his ear. "I did both." Langa said honestly before he tried to recall Miya's exact words. "He said.. um tighten up on the second rail and dont be creative." One of Reki's eyebrows raised in a cute arch. "Don't be creative, what kind of advice is that? I know the judging is a little harsh but I'm gonna skate like how I want to. If I win, I win. If I don't, it's fun regardless." "And that is why you are my favorite, and everyone else's." Langa pulled a little harder to get Reki flushed against him so he could kiss him more easily. The charming laugh Reki gave hindered the effort but Langa managed to capture those pretty lips for himself. He tasted a bit like the energy drink he'd had, sugary, and Langa's sweet tooth had his tongue running along Reki's bottom lip. Which was a tiny bit too much in public when Reki was supposed to be practicing. A ringed hand on his chest stopped Langa from getting too carried away in his admiration. Langa spoke quicker than Reki did, fully expecting a reminder. "I just love you so much." Reki beamed when he pulled away. "I love you too and I'm going to want to kiss you after every run but we gotta look at least a little professional today okay?" "Okay. So not until the end?" "I just mean no running out on the course and stealing me. We get to hang out on the sidelines through everything but I might not go by you during my knockout round. Don't be mad." "I'm not gonna be mad." Langa assured those sparkling eyes looking right into his with a brush of their noses together. "I understand. I'm happy to be here cheering for you." Reki wrapped Langa up in a quick squeeze of a hug. "Ah I just love you so much.. See! This is what I mean. You're distracting. Wearing my shirt and looking all cute."He tugged on the hem of it and stepped away. Langa begrudgingly let him go but felt a bit satisfied at being a good distraction. He smiled at the compliment. "I'll go by Tess for the rest of practice." "Okay, one more hour until the arena opens." "I know." Langa nodded and made sure Reki's expression was still excited and not nervous. Crowds took a long time to get used to again. "I'm proud of you, good luck." Reki flushed a beautiful red and smiled wide before he got back on his board in haste. Langa didn't have to worry, that was just flustered Reki. One of his favorite versions of his favorite person in the entire world. ________♡________

Reki is featured doing a grind down the main rail. Yun is showcased in a synchronous flip trick with one of the younger girls. Doors are open and group one starts soon! If you aren't here in person be sure to check out the broadcast already in progress on our channel! Approximate event times are below. ________♡________“Dudes are getting ready, butterflies are flapping in the stomachs. We are five minutes away from the first run of the Street League Skating competition here in the beautiful city of San Francisco, California. Who here is ready for some skateboarding?” Compared to the Olympics, Reki doubted another skateboarding competition could be more professional but the SLS felt like it. Maybe it was because of how it was broadcasted and set indoors on sleek looking courses. Different than the outdoor and massive set ups for the X-Games, much different than the disorganized and local WorldSkate tour. Maybe he held it to a higher standard because Reki dreamed of going to it for a long time, longer than the Olympics had skateboarding included. But the SLS was actually kind of a mess. A very amusing mess. Not the unsafe kind of mess. Two of the skaters set to compete couldn't and last minute substitutions had to be made. They had to pull Kendrick out of the announcing booth to compete in the first group. Which meant the next person with announcing experience got pushed up there. Reki went and took over the technical commentary while Claudio kept on color. It was hilarious and awesome. Claudio was such a dork. Reki’s favorite line of his during Kendrick’s run was “He’s got something in his legs today.” He wasn’t wrong, it was just silly to say. The crowd cheered so loud for Kendrick who did his best despite no practice on the course and filling in at the last second. The other substitution was in group two. Kiri was just there hanging out with the professionals when he got asked to replace Klaus. He didn't even have his board with him and had to borrow someone else's. It wasn’t like he was retired or anything, he just hadn’t competed since the World Skate Tour. The crowd was really hyped for him too. When Reki finally got back to the sidelines, he retook his spot between Langa and the first fence. The professionals, friends, and family were settled right on the side of the course near the back, in between the wood surrounding the skatepark and the fence blocking off the seating in the arena. Langa had his back, literally, the entire time. Reki was standing in front of him watching the competitions while Langa held around his stomach and nuzzled into his hair half the time. He was placing “chaste” kisses on Reki’s neck every time he whispered in his ear but Reki wasn’t going to complain too much. Having Langa there, especially when none of their little family could make it to California that time, meant the world for one, and for two, Reki ate the affection up. He wasn’t nervous to compete. Well he was a little bit. The first two skaters headed to the finals, Kelvin and Gustavo, were incredible. They had high scores, 86 and 84 respectively. But everyone competing that day was really good. In the first group there was a guy who got 84 and was only in the running to be in the finals. That was wild, it was so competitive.Because there was an extra spot for the top scorer that didn’t make it in by winning their individual group, Reki was hoping for a good score, at least an 80. Skateboard judging varied so wildly and the SLS judges were notoriously stingy. It was obvious that day how they weren’t praising creativity, Miya’s advice had some merit. Didn’t mean Reki was going to follow all of it. It was his group's time to compete and Reki was third in the line up. A really good place to see the runs before his and only have one person after him. Langa’s good luck kiss was a long one, but it was perfect. It gave Reki not only the lingering taste of his lips but also the confidence to skate to the best of his ability. Combine his fiance’s unconditional love for only him with the electricity of the crowd and general vibe of the competition, Kendrick’s words over the speakers were just bonus energy. “Our third skater in group three is Reki Kyan. The not-so-rookie rookie. It may be his first time competing in the Street League Skating series but he’s no stranger to competitions. His skating career really took off on the World Skate Tour, where I befriended all of my favorite people in the world like Claudio here next to me and the rest standing in the professional section. But Reki not only captured our hearts but also all of the medals. He and Miya Chinen tied for first place and are both now featured in the World Skate game, who here plays as Reki?”Reki’s face was burning when the crowd cheered and not just because Langa was the loudest. Freaking adorable goofball. “Right?” The smile was clear as day in Kendrick’s voice and Reki shot him a look up in the broadcasting space. “He’s awesome. And not only that, my dudes, he’s an olympic gold medalist. It would be unprofessional to have a favorite to head to the finals but I’m saying it anyway. Hey Reki, your time starts now.”And that man called himself a professional. Reki laughed loudly when the timer started. He’d done his first run so many times, he could do it in his sleep. Claudio’s words were loud enough to hear over the crowd that had quieted. “Reki is absolutely feeling himself today. When he gets on early, he’s locked in.”“Reki skates so effortlessly, like he’s just going through the motions honestly. So smooth right there with the first nollie into crooked down the hubba. For those who don’t know the term, and are wondering why we call a ledge a strange word, it actually got its origins right here in San Francisco. Reki’s just out here honoring tradition.”“Oh that was beast.”“Flawless landing and transition into his signature feeble grind on the rounded rail. Seriously, what did we feed him?”“I made the man breakfast and I don’t even know. Why does his skating feel like retaliation? Like we slept on him. I didn’t actually sleep on him, that was Langa. But I mean like the world slept on him and this is his origin story.”“Skating like this is his origin story. I love it. Reki has five seconds left, he’s set up for a big finale.” “And he nails the tre flip that we would normally only see in best trick. Does he know there’s nothing above first place?”“I think Reki is aware of that, yes Claudio, but I think he wants to create it. First place ultra.” Reki’s heart was going to explode. In the best of ways. It was absolutely pounding when he finished his run. He couldn’t help the little hop in excitement he did and his eyes immediately found Langa who was cheering again, just as loudly as he had before with a giant smile. Screw the staying away self-imposed rule. Reki ran right over to where Langa was standing to share his elation with him.“Perfect!” Langa beamed and reached over the barrier to grab Reki’s face. Which immediately got peppered in frantic kisses. “Only you would be that flawless on your first run baby, great job!”Reki couldn’t contain his happy laughter bursting out in giggles. He couldn’t even embrace Langa back. All he could do was get lavished in affection before Langa let go and winked. The gorgeous expression stuttered Reki’s brain but Langa glanced at the screen near them. Reki followed those sparkling ocean eyes to the scores. “Reki is straight to the top with a score of freaking 90!” Kendrick announced right as Reki saw it. “Woah woah woah. That’s sickening. Like it's actually - I can’t. I don’t feel well is what I’m trying to say.” “I feel fucking fantastic.” Reki said with a grin and a look back at Langa. Langa smiled, and maybe drooled a little bit at the way Reki brought the bottom of his shirt up to his face. “You should, you are. Now you have the room to do something fun.” “I will.” Always in sync, the two of them, and Reki wouldn’t have it any other way. “Next run, switch grab for you. Only you.” Langa grabbed at him for one more brief kiss before Reki headed back to where he needed to be. “Only you.” ________♡________

________♡________Langa was going to marry the fuck out of Reki. He was beyond positive of it before he even proposed. The second they moved into their apartment, Langa knew. Certainty slammed into him when Reki was standing in their empty kitchen with a proud little smile on his face. In Madrid, he knew he never wanted to be separated from Reki ever again. In Tokyo, he knew that domestic life with the most beautiful man in the entire world was his future. Then they were back in California and Reki was competing with that shining confidence and bright smile he had shown in Paris, Langa was ready to get on one knee and propose all over again. He loved watching Reki skate before. Always had. Loved when he was silly and completely focused all at once. Loved when he was a little bit smug after a great trick. Loved every bit of him really. But there was something about when Reki was completely comfortable despite a heated competition that made Langa feel like going feral. He was beyond head over heels. Not a cartwheel, like the saying was based on, more like a 900. Not on a vert ramp. Mega ramp. Langa was 900 on a mega ramp levels of in love with Reki. It was down to the last two trick attempts. Reki was first place in scores, thus the last one to skate. The guy before him got a perfect nine, and the two of them were in a battle for first place. Reki absolutely had to nail a harder trick to win. After the eruption of cheering in excitement when Reki got ready, the crowd quieted to the edge of anticipation. He looked at the course in front of him and Langa could see the signature gears turning in his head. Despite the focus, the way he held himself was as if he was looking over the warehouse back home. Like he was about to try something ridiculous just to see if he could, not like he was calculating what would land him the most points. Maybe that’s why Langa liked it so much. He knew it was probably a mix of both. “Allll comes down to this Claudio and I’m so curious to see what Reki will do.” “He looks comfy. Like this is no big deal. Casual day for him.” Reki smiled, dangerously, when he got whatever he was thinking about and Langa was about to swoon. “His last attempt was so close. He barely made the backslide and got deducted points for the scuffed landing but it looks like he’s gonna try it again. Or maybe something different. I have no idea. He keeps me on my toes.” He tapped the tail of his board on his shoe, a cute little habit before a run, and he tossed his board down. Langa inhaled the second Reki kick-pushed and he held it all through the pop of his board up into the air, the spin, and the grind that followed. Langa only breathed the second his fantastic soon-to-be-husband landed the trick with a smirk on his face. Then he could yell right along with the crowd at the insane skill that had to have been technical enough to win while still having the creative flair that Reki was known for. “Are you serious! Reki what the! A nollie backside 270 noseslide! On that! He’s insane.” “Humans can’t do that.” Claudio said in disbelief. “Stop. Stop playing.. Reki.. He didn’t just-”Langa knew it was part of their job to be so flabbergasted but even he was. There Reki was on another level again. Street skating may not be about heights, but with the way Reki consistently raised the bar it may as well be. Langa was going to burst in pride and adoration when those ecstatic amber eyes found him. The smile he wore for Reki consumed his entire face. That was Langa’s entire world right there, eyes only on him in a crowded arena screaming his name. Yep. Mega ramp levels of in love. Maybe even the side of a cliff. Maybe even the height of the moon. Whatever tools of measurement didn’t really matter, impulsive thoughts won. Langa hopped over the fence but stayed on the side of the course. He had to keep the unspoken promise of not stealing Reki. Langa let him come to him but made his eagerness known with open arms that Reki rushed into. Then he could sweep his fiance off his feet and spin him in unbridled excitement. Reki was breathing too heavily and laughing too hard to meet any of the affection again but Langa didn’t care. He liked to kiss all over his face anyway and when Reki’s legs wrapped around his hips, Langa squeezed him as hard as he could. “Oh my god. Langa. I nailed that.” Reki said breathlessly when he returned the embrace and nuzzled their faces together. “Oh god, think it was worth a nine?”“Absolutely. Ten, really. Eleven, even.” Langa confirmed and spun once more to see the screen. Reki turned in his hold to look behind him as the number appeared. When it did, the crowd went absolutely wild and Kendrick yelled over the speakers. It was all just noise because Reki turned back with the most blinding of smiles at his win and cupped Langa’s face with his sweaty hands. Reki successfully drowned out the entire arena with the rapturous kiss placed on his lips. It was just the two of them then. Langa would consume that joy for as long as he could. Forever, even. Infinitely, really. ________♡________

I should know.” He whined and turned to Reki with what could only be described as puppy eyes. “Please.”Reki was incredibly amused but also a little disturbed. He was sure his expression was showing that. “Stop whatever is going on right now please. We are going to celebrate as a group. You don’t need to be concerned about what happens after.”“I’m very concerned about what happens after.” Langa nosed into Reki’s hair from behind, causing a shiver. The deep voice combined with the press of Langa’s fingers into his hips had him thinking a little about after. “You were supposed to read the binder.”“Oh shut up.” Reki laughed and settled himself further into Langa’s arms. “I saw the hotel information.”“And it would be an inconvenience to me to drive back up here to get you guys in the morning.” Claudio said with a wag of his finger. “I’ll drive.” Kendrick offered in nonchalance. “I don't mind traffic.”“That’s not the point! The point is, it's our weekend together.”“But if Reki and Langa want to fuck in a hotel room in California, let them!” Yun was over the arguing before it really even began. “They are grown ups.”Langa nodded. "Yes we are. I want to."“Yeah! See Claudio! Langa wants to fuck his fiance in California." Kendrick joined in and got distracted easily. "Oh wait, you know what's kinda wild? Only Hawaii.." "One out of fifty states.""Oh you gotta up those numbers. More travels. We should compile a unique air BNB list." "Like a treehouse." Kendrick’s and Langa’s friendship was the cutest thing but sometimes Reki wanted to playfully smack the both of them. He sighed and glanced around at all of the people standing around in the parking lot outside of the arena. “Can we just go get food? I’m so hungry.”Tess was always the voice of reason and as soon as she cleared her throat all eyes were on her narrowed icy ones. “Reki won a competition today and you all are starving him by focusing on weird things. Give me the boy, Langa.”Langa squeezed tighter and shook his head so hard his hair hit Reki in the eyes. “No Reki is mine and I will feed him.” On that declaration, Langa stepped forward without releasing Reki so he had to walk awkwardly in front of him towards Claudio’s car. It barely fit everyone and they definitely broke some laws on the way up there by both couples being shoved into the backseat together. They just did it again. Tess was on Kendrick’s lap and Reki was on Langa’s but also kind of in the middle? It wasn’t very comfortable. Thankfully the restaurant wasn't far. That had been another heated debate. San Francisco had a lot of decisions that their group was not very good at making. Tess had enough and pulled up her phone to input all the options into a spinner wheel to let rng decide. The wheel picked Korean Barbecue. The restaurant was small and crowded. Steam from every table rose to a low ceiling with florescent lights. Booths lined the walls but in the middle were larger surrounded by stools that could fit all of them. When one opened up, they were quick to sit. The delicious smell during the wait had Reki's stomach making itself well known. He could only imagine Langa's. In no time at all their table was covered in options to cook in the grill at the center of it. Twenty different kinds of meat, basically the same amount of sides. All you can eat, they said. Reki looked at Langa in a little bit of worry that his delighted fiance might gorge himself to death but then they also said a two hour limit. The concern changed to whether or not Langa would take that as a challenge. He did, but soju and laughter occupied his mouth just as much as food did. And Reki, who couldn't keep his hands to himself. One on Langa's thigh, the other holding nearly useless chopsticks as Langa kept feeding him. Reki had no complaints, in fact he was just as happy as he had been seconds after winning. Good food and even better company. The alcohol had his sentimentality pouring from his mouth. "I love all of you." Reki said with certainty to the group around him. He sat between Claudio and Langa. Kendrick, Tess, and Yun were across the way. "Langa the most though." "I love you too." Langa said with a mouthful and a nuzzle of his nose on Reki's cheek. Claudio nudged their shoulders together. "I love you too Reki. And everyone else less." "Fucking rude man." Kendrick snorted. "I love you all too and I'm so happy our once a year promise from back in Spain keeps turning into multiple times a year." Yun rested her chin in her palm on the table. "One of these times it's gotta be without skating. I am exhausted but I want to hang out and party tonight." "The wedding is next, right?" Tess asked with a glance up from the food to Reki across from her. Reki nodded. "That's hanging out and partying." "In Hawaii again!" Claudio's trademark excitement was right in Reki's ear. "Did you decide on bachelor party details yet?" "Not really. That's Miya's job though, right? He said it was." Langa shoved another bite right in his still open mouth. "In western weddings, yeah. It'd be Miya's job." Reki shrugged. All the details and differences were lost on him. He was just excited to marry his best friend, love of his life, and idol all wrapped in one beautiful package. "Western weddings just make me think of cowboys." Yun snickered. "Langa in a cowboy hat."Reki's eyes snapped to Langa as soon as that thought was put in his head. "I'm gonna need you to get a cowboy hat." Langa giggled, adorably, and tilted a non-existent hat on his head. "Darlin'.""Stop." Reki squeaked in some sort of weird new fondness excitement. "What is that?" "What is what?" He asked with a tilt to his head. "What are you doing with your words?!"Langa looked perplexed but Claudio jumped in with the same accent. "Howdy partner." "Ahh. What?" Reki kind of loved it and parroted the new "o" sound. "Howdy." "That's adorable." Langa smiled wide. "How have you never heard a southern accent?""I don't know. I like that darlin', do it again!" Kendrick barked the loudest laugh. "Oh my god Reki. You're so fucking cute." "How- how?" Tess was trying to get her words to sound the same. "Howdy. I sound American. Not the right American." "Oh my god Tess, beautiful, please." He was holding his sides. "I can't when you do the American accent. It's so endearing I want to marry you all over again." "Why do you laugh? I am trying." She shot him an unserious glare. "Would it be better if I said hey dude, that's so rad." That got everyone at the table in some sort of snickering and the volume only increased as she kept going. "Oh my god Kendrick, bro. I mean bruh." "Bruhh." Yun sang with a smile and then switched to some other accent. "Like oh my gawd." Reki shook his head in laughter at that one. That sounded so weird. "I don't like it." "You sound mostly Canadian sometimes, it's so cute." Langa laughed all bright and pretty. "Toronto." Reki repeated it with a grin. Claudio tried too. "Toronno. Wait, Langa say about." "About.""Aboot." Kendrick said it more exaggerated. "Ohhh Reki does sound Canadian sometimes doesn't he. He called that kid bud yesterday." "Aw." Langa smiled even bigger and planted a kiss right on Reki's cheek. "You are so cute, darlin'."Reki blushed at the sweet sounding term the second time and oh god did Langa take satisfaction in that. He was practically giddy at finding a new thing to fluster Reki with. He didn't need any more of those. The accents simmered down back to talks of the wedding. Yun was asking more questions about the wedding party, which meant the people included in the wedding, not the reception part. Langa had to clarify. "There's too much to keep track of." Reki whined. "That's why Hana gets paid the big money.""It's not even that much." Yun argued with a smile. "No it is. Langa and I just said Hawaii and in the winter." "Won't you miss out on training time?" Claudio asked Langa genuine curiosity. "Being in Hawaii for a week." "No." Langa shook his head lightly and finished off his drink. "We are doing the honeymoon up in Vancouver so we can go snowboarding together." "Beach and then mountains." Reki nodded in agreement. "And skateboarding at the bachelor party." Kendrick inserted into the plans. "I'm determined to make the dinosaur costumes happen eventually. Miya will be totally cool with skating. I'm gonna talk to him." Tess stopped him from taking his phone out right then. "Wait wait." "Yeah I would not text Miya about dinosaur costumes." Reki laughed. "Skating is in the plan I think? And I asked to go dancing. He said maybe." Claudio perked up. "Yes! We have to. Oh man operation thirsty part two." "Get Reki and Langa married?" Yun teased with a smirk. "I think they are already on course to do that." "Yes." Langa said with certainty and a nod. "Definitely on course to do that and.." His hands were very grabby at Reki's hips under the table. Reki jumped at the suddenness and it made the group laugh.Claudio clarified his idea. "Noo. We try and get them to cave on the wedding night and see each other." Reki didn't understand. "Huh?" "It's bad luck." Reki turned to Langa instead, who was not paying very much attention judging by his eyes right on Reki's mouth. "What's bad luck?""Oh. It's bad luck to see your soon to be spouse on the night before the wedding. But it's not real." Langa added that last part for Reki's sake. Yet the assurance couldn't erase how superstitious he was and it was only confirmed when Reki looked around at the nodding faces. "It's tradition though." Kendrick said. "Reki, no." Langa whined and tugged at him. "I don't like sleeping without you. Don't make me do it the night before the wedding.." "But-""Don't listen to him." Tess grabbed Reki's attention. "Traditions are stupid. We didn't follow any of them. Spend the night with Langa." "Yeah bro. Be as clingy to your fiance as you want. Hawaii is going to be so sappy and so fun." Yun smiled softly. Reki matched her smile as he turned to an adorably pouting Langa. He grabbed his reddened cheeks with his hands and threaded his fingers into blue strands. "I'm gonna be so sappy.." Langa grinned and pulled at Reki's hips to knock their foreheads together. "I'm so excited to marry you." "I'm so excited to marry you." Reki forcefully kissed him to punctuate the declaration. "Everytime I get reminded that we are so close to the wedding, I love you even more. And we should definitely stay in the hotel room tonight, so I can show you how much." The last bit was whispered but with the way Langa reacted, it was probably obvious. Reki was nearly knocked over by the hungry kiss that followed. Langa caught him from falling to the floor by picking him straight off the stool and away from their laughing friends. Their time limit was up anyway, Reki and Langa were just getting a head start on leaving. Medal winners deserved whatever they wanted, and Reki wanted Langa. ♡
