Jeyne Poole

Sansa wasn't sure why it bothered her so much, it wasn't like Jeyne hadn't had crushes from time to time on the boys at Winterfell, only the gods knew how many hours she'd spent listening to the other girl sigh for Theon Greyjoy when they were at Winterfell.

But still since they arrived at King’s Landing , whenever Jeyne mentioned Beric Dondarrion, Sansa had to force herself not to roll her eyes.

He was a knight of noble birth and it was very unlikely that he would even think about Jeyne, but soon she realized the flaw in that logic after all she was of noble birth and she was thinking about Jeyne.

Since they'd gone to that place she needed a friend more than ever and all Jeyne seemed to do was focus on other people.

Margaery Tyrell

Margaery seemed to have come out straight out of a song, everything Sansa had always thought a lady should be, Margaery was, but it went beyond that.

She was hope and something sweet in the midst of all the terror her life had become in the last few months.

When they were walking through the gardens together there was nowhere else Sansa would rather be, and she had grown used to being someone who always wanted to be somewhere else.

And soon her light would marry Joffrey and it hurt to think of him with her, of the possibility of him hurting Margaery as he had hurt her. When she confessed her fears Margaery would simply smile and say that everything would turn out all right, she seemed so sure of that statement that it almost made Sansa believe it was true.

Mya Stone

It took a while for Sansa to see the similarity between Mya and Robert.

They had the same raven hair and blue eyes but it was hard for her to put together the burly King she had known and the beautiful girl in front of her.

The person Sansa actually similarities between was her younger sister, if Arya reached that age she would probably look a lot like Mya, her body lean and strong, she would probably even want to cut her hair as short as hers, once that would worry Sansa a lot thinking that such a thing would make her sister way less beautiful, but not so much now.

She was sure Mya would have looked beautiful in silk gowns if she had been raised properly as a royal bastard.

But the truth was, she was also beautiful the way she was now, and also she would probably still look very beautiful with absolutely nothing covering her body as Myranda Royce had once commented.

Just that thought made Sansa blush, and she hoped the other girl hadn't noticed.

Brienne of Tarth

Sansa had prayed so many times for a brave knight to come save her over the last few years. Someone noble, brave and kind like in the songs.

That someone finally shows up, but it wasn't a man. Brienne kneels before her and tells her of the promise she made to her mother to return her to Winterfell and help her regain her birthright. Just pure loyalty and service, protecting her against all those who would harm her. It sounds too good to be true, but even if it wasn't completely true it seemed a lot better than the path Petyr offered her.

Heading to Winterfell her doubts slowly began to fade. Brienne had done everything she'd promised and more, she was someone the world's cruelty and terror had touched but still managed to remain pure. With every word and every act convincing her more and more that she was one of the most beautiful souls she had ever been lucky enough to know.

And when the journey is over, when she is crowned, her first act as Queen in the North is to make Brienne the commander of her Kingsguard.

Daenerys Targaryen

She can't defeat dragons, at least not without losing many lives in the process, and her first duty as Queen was to protect her people. So when dragons appeared at the gates of Winterfell she walked up to the Dragon Queen, heard her terms, looked deep into her violet eyes and then knelt and swore allegiance to her as long as she lived, and then all those under her command knelt too;

When Sansa dared look up, she saw that Daenerys's lips, once so serious, now held a faint smile, and she wasn't looking at the kneeling crowd, only at her.

Sansa offered the hospitality of Winterfell to Daenerys and her army, and later, having dinner beside her in the ballroom, the Queen began to look less frightening.

Talking to her about her life as an outcast and later as a khaleesi Sansa began to understand why she behaved the way she did, and to feel a level of sympathy for the other girl.

And when Daenerys confirmed that she intended to help the North in its war against the others before going to claim her birthright in King's Landing, Sansa began to like her, and had the impression that feeling would only grow as time went on.

At the end of that night and on their way to their rooms the Queen said that she would like it when they were alone that Sansa would refer to her as Dany, and as they said goodbye when they reached the front of her room their hands were clasped together for much longer than would be necessary.

And it felt like the beginning of something she had been long waiting for.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Throughout the meeting Daenerys remained austere, the element of House Targaryen was fire, but she could appear cold as ice when she wanted to, but she did not remain that way after all the Lords left, after only she and Sansa were left in that room. She took a deep breath and took her face in her hands and like magic the ruthless Dragon Queen disappeared she began to look like the seventeen year old girl she really was.

"Is something wrong, my Queen?" Sansa asked.

"Just tired, just thinking."

"Thinking about what?"

"This place, my brother, I spent my entire childhood listening to Viserys talk about Westeros as the most beautiful place there was."

"And the reality was disappointing compared to the fantasy." Sansa said, it wasn't a question.

"They destroyed Westeros, they destroyed everything my family built."

The Targaryens didn’t built Westeros, they conquered it,

Sansa thought but decided not to say.

"They also destroyed Winterfell, but now we are rebuilding it." Sansa said putting her hand on the queen's shoulder.

“Sansa, do you think we will be able to fix all of this?”

Sansa had doubts, too many to count, the Lannisters were strong and winter was here and with it hunger, suffering and death. But saying that to Daenerys in the state she was in would only bring her down, so she said:

"Yes I do."

When Daenerys continued without saying anything Sansa approached and placed a light kiss on Daenerys' forehead.

"You don't need to do this, I'm not a child who needs to be comforted."

"But I want to do it." Sansa said.

Daenerys smiled and began to caress Sansa's face.

"Sansa, I don't think I would have been able to handle these last few months without you, I feel so grateful to whatever god put you in my path, I love you." Daenerys said and then kissed her lightly on the lips.

The kiss surprised Sansa, she had heard rumors that Daenerys sometimes slept with her ladies-in-waiting and some of the women of her khalasar, but assumed it was just malicious gossip rather than reality. But she didn't pull away, and kissed Daenerys back.

If this was something that could bring some peace and happiness to the future ruler of the Seven Kingdoms, and especially to the scared and vulnerable girl that Dany was inside, she would gladly give anything her Queen wanted.

Daenerys’ lips were soft and hungry, while at the same time seeming to feed her, Sansa had been kissed a few other times before, but she decided that one was the first one that really counted.
