"AND THIS IS WHY NEW YORK'S SPIDER IS A MENACE TO EVERYO-" The loud voice gets suddenly cut off as a bus gets thrown at the huge billboard which was streaming that loudmouth again
"Man, I seriously hate him don't you?" I said jokingly as I dodged random objects getting thrown at me and even sometimes cars but still trying to evade Doctor Octopus's claws
"Stay still bug" replied a sharply yet annoyed voice
"Not much of a talkative type are you? Say who sent you here anyways?"
"You never stop talking do you?"
"What about it? Woke up on the wrong of the bed and grumpy I see" I said jokingly referencing the dark eyebags under the self-proclaimed brilliant yet twisted scientist 'Doctor Otto Octavius'
which to no surprise just made him more mad
Unfortunately for the spider, Otto controlled a set of mechanical tentacles that extended from his back each appendage moved with a life of its own striking at the shadow spider from multiple angles
but while I joked around he managed to grab my leg and threw me against the wall which did hurt more than I would admit
"Hey! Have you considered not doing that and being a regular scientist?" The spider just added on quickly while getting back up
"You should really try some hobbies doc. You know something that doesn't need your face to be outside in the open. How about knitting? You'd produce sweaters or plushies rather fast? If you are even a plushie guy tho"
Yet it seemed like I hit his pride and he really didn't like that, I joked again but yet to no surprise of mine and my spider sense started to go off but it was too late as he just launched one of his claws at me
I was trying to hold it away from my face and while trying to not have my face crushed by this octopus/cockroach hybrid (whatever he is) mechanical tentacles
"Enough with your childish quips!"
Yeah he's about to kill me literally
"This won't hurt…much" As he added it didn't reassure me and in fact it just made me wanna get rid of that mechanical in front of my face more in fact
So not wanting to die by this octopus who was getting closer to the point where I was staring straight at his face I tried to kick him in the face which momentarily staggering him, his glasses flew off revealing a pair of bloodshot eyes and dark circles underneath the villain's frustration grew but he couldn't help but feel a twisted admiration for the spider
and it gave me a chance to be freed from his mechanical arms It was quite the struggle but I managed but he stood up back fast with these mechanical claw-like tentacles
Although he looked pleased with himself and a smile crooked across the face of his just before just saying in his somewhat sickly yet victorious voice
"I got all I need"
While holding a small tube of red liquid which made me to look at my shoulder where there was a wound and it was bleeding and it didn't take long to put it together but the captain cockroach was off in a swift motion with a sinister grin he taunted the so-called hero claiming he had all he needed but I tried to chase him but to no avail, he disappeared into the depths of the city after all he did know new york better than I did and knowing I couldn't catch him if I even wanted it just made me frustrated
After scratching my head I decided to prioritize my personal life for a moment and just gave up for the time being and with bruises and cuts from the intense battle I couldn't help but to wonder how I would explain everything to my mom yet quickly the thoughts from the battle were replaced with my forgotten promise,
I remembered that today was my mom's birthday and I promised to buy her the cake so with no time wasted, I quickly started to swing in the direction where I hid my extra clothes to change into my civilian self but I seriously had no idea how to explain the bruises as I thought to myself while swinging but I couldn't help but to feel like something if off I tried to shake it off but failed.
Chapter 1: the beginning of the hell maze

Yet the fight didn't go unnoticed as the spider thought
General Ross, a man hungry for power has been observing the footage of the entire spectacle which was the recent fight The vigilante had such serious combat movements and agility which was perfect for the twisted and sick plan of his, he saw a potential weapon a force that could be harnessed for his own sinister agenda
their body could sustain an impressive amount of damage to his body
And the strength itself. He couldn't be more impressed
He thought to himself Maybe it's possible to lift a truck with that strength or even more yet it's similar to the criminals Avengers more specifically Steve Roger's yet the vigilantes had more abilities besides just lifting trucks and maybe many tricks up their sleeves which he was quite curious about yet didn't know yet
If in the bad hands, this vigilante could cause trouble and but in Ross's mind, it was a race between time who could get their hands on it
Yet time isn't something he can afford easily
He couldn't help but let out a small chuckle he knew he would do anything to get his hands on this sneaky spider and no one could stop him No matter what he would get his hands on this much-deserved specimen so determined to capture it, Ross began to mobilize his resources, assembling the perfect team of skilled operatives to track down and apprehend the vigilante
so the stage has been set for the beginning of a hellish maze that the spider would find itself entangled in as soon as forces beyond her imagination would close in.
When she finally arrived in the alleyway she checked around to make sure she was indeed alone before proceeding with changing from her hero suit to civilian self
As Vannesa changed she couldn't shake off the feeling that She was being watched,
but her spider-sense didn't alert her, So she tried to dismiss it as she put her mask and gloves in her backpack and headed to the nearby cake store
Since her mom gave her the choice to pick the cake so she picked a chocolate one that she and her mom would enjoy
and since she wanted it to be special She asked the baker if she could write a message on the cake which the baker said he Could so the baker wrote it as Vanessa said it out loud the message
So the baker wrote, "Hope You ARe having the best birthDaY!"
yet it seemed weird how he wrote it, my message but I didn't think about it and just paid and thought to myself that my day just couldn't get any more weird
First Captain Cockroach (her nickname for Otto) taking my blood then the baker writing my message on the cake weirdly it may be a consequence but still what is next? Yet weirdly thinking about it sent shivers down her spine which she shook it off
so she tried to not think much about it much at least so she set the cake on the store's outside table and took out her headphones and started to play music to help her to take her mind off today so she picked up the cake again and headed home
As she arrived at the apartment she took her keys from her pocket and unlocked the door and while holding the cake in one of her hands she opened it with her free hand and went it while closing the door behind her
A grin was on her face as she greeted-
No one. Vannesa paused her smile fading from her face as she stepped in further looking around the small yet comfortable apartment which she had grown to call her home It was quiet the only sounds that were heard were the refrigerator's never-ending buzz so she took off her shoes and placed the cake on the kitchen counter
"Mom?" She tried as she looked around with no response from the quietness which was the apartment so she just thought to herself "Maybe she is out?." In order to comfort her from the unwanted thoughts so the teen took off the headphones and went to the living room to turn on the TV
So the apartment wouldn't be as lonely Before deciding to check her phone in case she received a message from her mom which to her surprise there was only one message from her mom that she missed so she opened it and read it
"I got called to work last minute so go ahead and cut a piece of the cake for yourself,
Don't wait for me :)"
Yet she didn't feel like wanting to cut a piece of the cake for herself without her mom although the unusual urge to close her eyes and sleep overcame her as she sat down on the bed yet she quickly remembered that she hadn't locked the door so she went and did just that before actually laying down and letting her urges to overcome her and falling in the hands of sleep
But someone unlocking the door quickly awakened her from the well-deserved rest and curiosity got the best of Vanessa so she went to check it out and noticed her mom taking her shoes off and jacket
"Back already?" curiously Vanessa questioned her mom
"Have you been sleeping?" Vanessa's mom just asked while pointing out the messy hair and seemingly ignoring the question Vannesa had presented
"Yeah actually I fell asleep while waiting for you and the cake is on the counter" while debating if she should tell her mom about her weird interactions with the baker earlier
while her mom was getting the knives and plates ready. Vannesa took a photo of that weirdly written message for her future self because it really was too weird for her liking and it didn't seemed like a weird mistake in her eyes
because now current-self will enjoy the cake and celebrate her mom's Birthday and as they celebrated it, and talked about their days yet the word written message kept popping up in her mind and about a million of unanswered questions went along with it,
and it didn't take long for her mom to notice her worried daughter
"What's wrong? You seem worried. You wanna talk about it?" said in a motherly concerned with tone
which quickly got the daughter's attention and brought her to reality and giving it no thought she quickly spit out the first thing that came to mind
"Well-uh… well I'm just worried about school that's all"
She hated to lie to her mom but It was only half a Lie since She really was worried about school and that came with being a high schooler which included almost daily tests and long and boring yet somewhat important lessons
Up till now, it seemed like her mom didn't really want to believe it fully but she didn't question it and went along with it.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
spoke again the mom breaking the dreadful silence which filled the small kitchen
"No, not really. It's really nothing!" Vanessa insisted
"Well, if you say so"
said the mom who seemed like she was a bit hurt or even disappointed that her daughter was hiding something but she didn't push it anymore
Yet it still hurt seeing her mom that concerned
As they continued their evening and eating the cake until neither one of them wanted to eat more so Vanessa's mom took it and put it in the fridge with the leftover soup from the other day
She didn't want to drag her mom into the mess that she already was in and her other "life" her train of thought was broken again. As she heard the water from the kitchen sink switched on to run so She decided now was the best time to figure out the message on the Cake since her curiosity was killing her from the inside out so she took her phone from her pocket and went to her room.
And she turned on the news on her tablet for some background noise before
Taking a piece of paper from her sketchbook which she usually drew on during class if she had time and a random marker from one of too many pencil cases she owned and had around on her table and began rearranging the letters
yet it still Didn't hit her completely that she was already tangled in someone else web and everything went according to their plan
and
she was a simple chess piece on a board game
played by a much more powerful person
as she started to dig into solving what seemed a simple mistake on the baker's behalf
yet her crime podcast-loving part of herself kept telling her that it was some Secret that just needed solving but she just kept getting nothing that made sense to her:
"Indra, Darya."
She mumbled under her breath just enough for herself to hear
It just seemed like random letters to her and part of herself started to believe maybe it really was just a mistake? Yet her other half kept telling her that there was a secret message or something so she decided to just give it up for the time being not being sure which half of her was right and she was getting a bit stressed from not being able to make out the seemingly random letters
Yet something caught her attention on the news she had playing in the background
"Breaking news: the death of King T'Chaka of the Wakandas Royal family has been confirmed by the Wakandas Royale family T'Chaka passed away earlier this morning after a tragic accident at a diplomatic reception in Vienna.
Officials have confirmed that the accident was caused by a gas explosion and is believed to have been the result of an assassination attempt
Sources say that T'Chakas's body has been returned to Wakanda and his funeral will take place after this week.
Now, for the weather-"
She turned off the news app.
It all seemed connected in one or some way yet it just wouldn't make sense on how nor why although there is a possibility that she was just really overthinking this and being paranoid so wanting to clear her mind she turned on some music on her tablet
and went to pick the clothes that she would wear for tomorrow, and pack her backpack with tomorrow's Lessons so she wouldn't stress about tomorrow morning nor miss anything important before giving her random letters guessing game one lost glance before putting it in her drawer and turning off the music on her tablet and turning off the tablet itself and Changing into her pjs and going to sleep. She really didn't want to patrol tonight
She had enough of that today after all.

"Indeed and easier to turn" the man in a suit just agreed

as the one alarm of many she had set in case she would miss any one of them began to ring telling her that she that it was time to wake and interrupting her sleep yet still filled with sleepiness all she did was mumbled "S-shut..it.. up" said as she weakly got out of bed to knowing she really didn't have a choice to stay in bed even tho she would love to
Yet still sitting on the bed rubbing her eyes before Reaching for her phone that's been charging overnight "shit" was heard as it was her reaction to the missed messages from her friend Bee yet it wasn't her real name but a silly Nickname shared between the both of them messages filling up the lock screen of her phone and the time.
She was late and worst is, she already missed multiple of her alarms and she would definitely get scolded by her teacher which she tried to shake the thought off it she quickly grabbed her clothes that she prepared yesterday and started to get ready as she finished getting ready and grabbing her backpack on the way out before heading out the door
and not wanting to be any more late than she was she went into the alleyway again and took off her hoodie revealing her suit underneath she took out her mask and gloves which she had in her backpack's pocket and shoved her hoodie in her backpack and put on her mask and gloves
as she was still wearing sweatpants she didn't bother taking them off and plus it would just take more time taking and putting on again the sweatpants
As she started to swing in the direction of her school until she saw a car flying straight into a shop but she used her webs to stop it and saving the person inside
As the person got out of the car "I'm starting to think James Jonah is wrong about you!"
"spread the word!" I just replied and to see who did this
It was Trapster of course. "hey gluestick can we just end this quickly? I have to be somewhere"
"spider, you will pay for it earlier!" as he started shooting his glue gun at me and he managed to get me stuck so in a quick decision I shot webs inside of it which caused the glue inside to build up and blow up and he was covered completely in his own mess
As I got out of being stuck on the ground I webbed him more and left a note for the police and started to swing away
didn't take her long to get there so she landed in a brush and quickly took off her gloves and mask and put on her hoodie and got out the brush and as she started to run to the school's door she noticed it was looked but then something got her attention it was my best friend Ashley waving at me outside an open window
So as I ran to the window and got inside the school Ashley closed it behind me
"Man, if we wouldn't go to the same school you would probably lose your head" and she started to chuckle a bit
"Yeah, probably thanks"
"How did you even manage to sleep through your multiple alarms and my multiple attempts at calling your ass?"
And I wish I could tell you but I can't.
"Uh.." as I look around looking for something to say
"I was tired..?"
"Yeah right"
"Anyways what lesson is next?"
"Your favorite Russian"
Said jokingly sarcastically knowing damn well I hate Russian and literally don't understand one bit of it and before I knew it we were standing outside the Russian classroom but we had to wait for the bell in order to come inside so we just found an empty spot to sit and continued talking while wishing that this day would already be over but that cake message kept bothering me no matter how much I've tried to push it away
And as the bell rang me, Ashley and our other classmates who also had been waiting for the bell walked into the class and sat in our seats, the teacher did the roll call and the class began
As the day continued to the 4th period which was the break me and Ashley went to the cafeteria brought food and found a non taken spot and started to eat and talk yet the sound of people talking and almost shouting like was disturbed when some villains broke in and completely destroyed the wall
As my spider sense started to warn me I dropped the Spoon and forced Ashy to duck as the Cafeteria wall got destroyed and out of the dust I've started to make out the shadow outlines of whoever did this but to my surprise it was.
"rhino… shocker"...
As I mumbled that under my nose as the dust cleared as if on command and revealing that I was indeed correct as I quickly glanced over at Ashley, she seemed shocked and disoriented which if I was in her place I would also be
Yet it seemed Rhino and Shocker weren't the only ones Shocker made an announcement
"your fellow principal has something to say"
And Rhino just added
"and you all better listen or else" as he mimicked smashing someone's head
Shocker as he threw the principal on the ground but the poor principal up quickly for a scared person
"e-everyone o-of the t-the School is now under control o-of the.. "
the principal threw a quick glance at the two villains Standing and listening to everything
"Sinister Three"
And the principal repeated what one of the villains just said fear showing on his face more than ever
"s-sinister three.. "
And one of them just added
"Unless the spider surrenders we are going to tear this place down without showing mercy"
and one of the students in the crowd a student just spoke happily "Yay! "
But the villain quickly corrected the student "It's serious!"
"oh" and the student just said and just covered their mouth
"But there's only two of you guys?" a student pointed out as If everyone couldn't see that fact, and the rhino replied
"before that spider got in our way."
And shocker just added
"yet our teammate found out that the little spider goes to this school before he was captured"
and then he added to his comment
"Who could the spider be? A student? A teacher? The cafeteria lady?" as he walked around and looked at various of students standing there
I instantly knew who they were talking about. It was Trapster or as I call him gluestick man. But how?
"they seem like they don't wanna talk," Rhino said to shocker
rhino suggested and Shocker agreed so Rhino began to cause chaos as rhino began destroying tables and scaring people around them then shocker came near me and Ashley
"Who could the mysterious wall-crawler be?" before looking at me and the other students beside me
As Shocker looked around "It seems they don't wanna speak. Rhino" As if on command rhino started to scare people even more and potentially hurting some of the people while doing quite a bit of damage to the cafeteria and Soon Shocker also joined and started Shocking people with his energy sound waves. "Stop It" I felt like I was screaming it out.
which got the shocker's attention, "definitely not the Spider"
"I'm gonna crush this kid" Rhino was also coming closer I felt the eyes of everyone in the cafeteria but it didn't matter
"don't crush Let's make an example" and he started to blast his energy sound waves at me
which caused me to fall to the ground due to the extreme pain and scream even with enhanced senses this was a nightmare "I'll talk!! I'll talk! Just make it stop!!" and once it stopped I used the nearest table to me, to help me regain my balance
"So what do you know?" as one of them spoke
"Listen up everyone needs to hear this'' and I quickly added a food fight!" as I threw soup at Shocker and it caused others to do the same which brought me time to get to the one of many pillars Supporting the Cafetra's structure, and I hid myself and Changed to my other self
"How did they find me?" as I spoke to myself and changed I noticed a tracker on the suit side which I destroyed and put on my mask but it made me recall the fight with the Trapster
"Hey, don't point that it is dangerous!" as I used my webs to pull shockers gauntlet from people and making it go off near shockers ears making him temporarily unable to fight
"I warned you, didn't I?" as I just jokingly commented on it
"hey king stone brain!" as I shouted to Rhino and apparently he didn't like that
"WHO YOU CALLING STONE BRAIN BUG?!"
rhino replied with bitterness and started to run in my direction with his horn pointed at me but all it took was just moving out of the way and the rhino ran and hit the wall which also got his horn stuck but it didn't keep him there for long before he went for round two
"spiderman there you are finally, Doctor Octopus Transmitting video" as shocker said to his earpiece
"Who are you talking to Mr. Bluetooth speaker?" the spider just spoke while struggling against the rhino
"Has anyone told you that you are annoying? " shocker just responded to spiders comment
"yeah I get that a lot but thanks"

"Okay"
"Although a small matter of witnesses shall I tell the team to destroy Midtown High?"
"midtown? Are you insane? my son goes there!" as the bussismen on the other end of the call got angry and stormed off
as I Jump around avoiding being hit by the rhino
And Shockers blast I attempted of webbing up Rhino but he's too strong for my webs but I attached Webs to Shocker gauntlet and used it against Rhino which worked and slowed him down a bit
Before I went in with a kick in his rhino face
honestly, I admit it, it felt good yet it didn't seem so for Rhino.
"Tsk, this school is filled with wannabe heroes" spoke shocker so I kicked him in his side which made him fall down and make damage to the wall so I webbed him up completely in a web cocoon
"Stupid spider you'll pay for this!"
As the rhino spoke and started to run at me with his horn pointed at me again.
But suddenly he stopped and I heard the familiar sickly voice coming from the rhinos headpiece
"We settle this next time" Rhino spoke as he grabbed Shocker and started to run away as police alarms were coming closer and becoming louder so not having a lot of time I turned invisible and hid in the vents
Knowing Ashley would look for me
As I saw a group of people in the cafeteria surrounding and talking to a boy
"Harry, please it's gonna be alright"
"MJ, it's all my fault.." and he quickly added as he saw a man in a suit approach who I think might be the boy's father
"Mr Osborn this is all my fault I'm sorry"
But Osborn replied
"You shouldn't apologize, Peter, what could've you done? There wasn't anything you could've stopped"
And it seemed like it hit him. What could've he really done?
As Osborn picked up his son and walked away guilt filled me, the poor kid thinks this whole mess is his fault and his friend got hurt because of me I was careless
Due to the whole mess in the cafeteria, we got the rest of the day off.
"In a shocking betrayal of the justice system, it claims to hold spiderwoman today, led known super-criminals in an attack on innocent school children
Believe me, ladies and gentlemen it gives this humble commentator less pleasure… to say I told you so!

As he kept screaming on and on about the spider-"man" (why do people even think I'm a dude?)
As I walked into the living room and I just wasn't in the mood to even turn off the loudmouth on the TV, I really felt terrible and I saw my mom cleaning again yet she paused, lowered the TV volume and asked,
"Ve, are you hurt? I heard what happened at your school today"
"Yeah, I'm fine don't worry about me" and I added
"those crazy weirdos didn't touch me
but I wish I could about a kid from my school"
"Do you think he will be alright?"
"Hopefully…" I just said to my mom ready to go to my room but
"I'm just happy that you are safe"
"Yeah.. me too…"
Before my mom's voice faded as I sat on my own bed thinking about everything and just let it sink in

But I knew sitting around and doing nothing won't help so after resting up a bit I decided to change into my suit and sneak out through the window and started to swing through the sky trying to take my mind of today's events
although it didn't take long as Something caught the spiders eyes.
It was smoke, a lot of smoke The overwhelming force of panic came to the spider and hit her like a train on tracks and there were screams to be heard from afar due to her enhanced senses, so the spider went into the hell of smoke to save lives if it meant destroying her own in the progess
And afterall lives can never be brought back from the dead or fixed easily like grades or anything school-related can be
"Fuck it"
she said to herself reminding her that being a hero is someone who is willing to sacrifice everything to save the world and isn't sunshine and rainbows as much as she wished for honesty
And she started to web in the opposite direction of her schools as she swung towards to the direction of the smoke and cries of help that were needed
As she landed on the nearest apartment building from which she could see the fire and the people trapped in the apartments so she decided to focus on saving them and started to swing and started picking up people from nearby buildings which the fire had spread to
And swung them to safety and as she landed on the ground she started to pick up the debris that's from the suspected explosion it was so overwhelming and the stress and panic didn't help the spider, and let people escape from being stuck from being under the debris as she helped a dad and a little girl to escape her spider-sense started to throw up a quite the storm
As she looked in the direction of what seemed like a wall of fire she saw who was behind and responsible for the damage done, it was vulture

And he just looked at the spider with a quite pleased look with the lives that he may have taken and the damage done to everyone
"It seems like it took the spider quite a while before they finally decided to show up didn't they?"
He spoke in a twisted sick tone and was just pleased with the destruction that followed with what he did.
"Why…why did you do this.?"
That's all she could say while Looking at those around who had suffered or lost someone close to them even tho they all were strangers she wanted to cry for them if she had just been here sooner maybe they could have been saved, she really felt like she was responsible for the casualties
Vulture just spoke in a mocking yet so cruel and twisted tone.
"Why?.. why?! BECAUSE it's fun seeing those weaklings Beg ME, not to kill them because, I love hearing their cries for help while I cut the throats of those so-called "loved" ones" he mimicking cutting someone's throat with his mechanical wigns and cutting it before laughing as to sound more insane as possible which just sent all the spiders hairs on her body to jump up
Seeing vulture so happily mimicking the death of innocent people and Hearing about that just made the spider unbelievingly sick to the stomach she felt today's lunch coming up, she couldn't believe what she just heard she was frozen and processing what she just heard
villains are supposed to be the bad guys and she did fight many of them in her gig as Shadow Spider but this... this is a new level. A whole new level
She fought vulture multiple times yet she never could really understand why would he go this far
before I knew it, I felt like my guts were twisting and the pain before I went literally flying yet I've managed to catch my balance but not for long
"hey now let's not zone out shall we?" Before the vulture started to grin like the devil making a deal with someone and getting something more powerful than the deal itself, it was so twisted she couldn't help but feel the urge to knock the grin from the vulture's
face
It seemed like her body was on autopilot and went for the hit yet it seemed like her attacks got blocked and she got another punch in the gut but she sucked it up and didn't give up get the spider managed to duck just in time as vulture swung his bladed wings at her yet she didn't dodge it completely and got a cut on her mask that she felt blood bleeding from
Vulture attacks were relentless and rather fast for a nut job-like villain like vulture yet it seemed like it enjoyed this battle as it has begun to get more intensive
those innocent lives that were killed because of vulture and just because it felt like doing it, no she had to avenge those lives for the families, friends and everyone. That was killed, that was her responsibility as the hero that she became
