It’s a common term of endearment, which started almost two thousand years ago when Per’sus began using the term for Egeria.
In fact many of the Tok’ra’s courting rituals began when they followed Egeria’s and Per’sus’s lead.
The blue proposal ribbon, for instance… Many of Egeria’s children were trying to court her, which was and still is the traditional means for a queen to find her mate.
Per’sus gave Egeria and a bouquet of flowers held by blue ribbons. He then declared that she would in fact court him. The bold move won her over, and the blue ribbon has since been a symbol of marriage.

It was their voices that caught her attention.She lifted her head, feeling lighter as she saw them.They were…alive.

Egeria had feared that he wouldn’t survive his first blending. He clearly had. What was his new name now?She had tried telling them her identity, but as soon as the squeals came out, she realized she was basically muttering at them.So she watched them as they worked, happy that they lived. That meant that other children lived as well.She could die happy now.“Malek…“ Kelmaa started.So her last Tok’ra child was named Malek. “Ruler.” It was precisely what he had been bred to be. Just knowing his name made her feel happier.~+~+~.The team named SG-1 left when Kelmaa did, but Malek remained, and he approached the tank.Egeria realized that the host was in control.He took out a brush with hard bristles and opened the lid of her tank.“What are you doing?!” A Pangaran demanded.The host ignored the man, reaching over her. Egeria flinched down and cowered. It’s not your fault. You don’t know.He held a hand over her, keeping her in place so that she couldn’t take him.I won’t hurt you, she promised.His grip was firm, but gentle, and it felt so good that she squeaked in joy. Then he brushed against her, sloughing off layers of dead skin. It had been tight and heavy on her, and finally having all that removed felt like bliss. Egeria saw fear in his eyes. I would never hurt you. She was touched. The risk he was taking, thought he was taking, just to be kind.“What are you doing?” The Pangaran asked. “You are making the water filthy.”“Your methods of keeping her alive are barely adequate. The water is too cold. The current is too strong. Do you ever even brush her?”“She needs to be brushed?”“Of course, she needs to be brushed. You have her in a tiny tank, constantly breeding.”Finally, she was clean. She felt so much lighter. She gently nipped at his hand as a thank you.His eyes glowed as Malek took over, pulling his hands away. They looked at each other, and his eyes were filled with confusion, then anger.“You are not taking him,” he said as he locked the tank. "I will not allow you to hurt him."Egeria, unfortunately, knew that feigning kindness to get a potential host to let their guard down was very common among the Goa’uld. She had imprinted that on her children as a warning.Malek continued working. Her water was cleaned, and she saw him adjusting the temperature. The electric current was adjusted as well.For the first time since the Pangarans found her, she actually felt comfortable. She even felt good.Malek left.~+~+~.That must have hurt, Sam thought.

It’ll be a while before anyone can talk to her.”“I’m not surprised. Kelmaa said she was very weak from…what was done to her,” her dad said.She saw his anger. She realized that Selmak must be furious.“Where is Per’sus?” Sam asked. “Egeria was sure he would be right here.” She looked over, then saw Einar and Amb lying on the floor. Kelmaa, having healed, was tending to them both.Egeria wiggled in worry.“The Pangarans opened fire on them. It looks like Amb took the brunt of the fire, but Einar was hit in the head. He is stable, but we don’t know the full damage.”Sam went to Per’sus and knelt down.“He needs a new host?” Jack asked.Egeria squirmed in offense.“No. As stated, Einar is stable,” Garshaw replied firmly, angrily.Jack didn’t reply when he saw that most of the other Tok’ra were glaring at him as well. Daniel had that “Did you just say that?” expression that Jack knew all too well.~+~+~.Amb slowly woke up, and he looked nervous.“How do you feel?” Martouf asked.“Achy.”“We weren’t sure if…” Martouf smiled. “I am glad you woke up.” He glanced to Gete. “We both are.”Amb smiled.“Do you know why they shot you?” Jacob asked.“We sabotaged the latest batch. Added poison. Then…when they realized that Malek and Councilor Per’sus were the same species…” He took a sharp inhale, looking around. “They knew what Malek was before. They were reacting to the sabotage.”“I don’t excuse them for shooting you, but they are desperate. It would help if you could find a solution to their problem.”“Unfortunately, finding an antidote to the Tretonin may be more problematic than Malek had first hoped.”“And… why's that?,” Jack asked with suspicion.“I know why,” Sam said as she touched her head. “Egeria sabotaged her young.” Sam looked to Kelmaa and Amb. “She can tell you how to create the antidote.”

Einar was essentially in a coma for several days as Per’sus healed him. When he finally came to, he was confused as Per’sus informed him of what was happening.“Einar.” Sam took his hand.“Samantha.” He closed his eyes. “Per’sus says I have lost some of my more recent memories.”“You were shot in the head.”He nodded. “I don’t remember, but Per’sus does.” He squeezed her hand gently, then smiled. “There is no longer a need to fret about me. Per’sus assures me that I will make a full recovery.”Sam smiled.“He wants to talk to you.”Sam nodded.His eyes glowed, indicating a switch, and the lack of a bow or long blink told Sam that they were both still recovering.“I must thank you for saving my queen.” His expression was different, exhausted, but very happy.“We thank you for saving our lives. Egeria says that she wouldn’t have been able to heal me on her own.”He smiled. “How is Amb?”“Malek has healed him.”“I feared my impulsive reaction to sabotage the last batch of medicine might have gotten him killed. I just could not bare the thought of my siblings being turned into medicine.” His lip curled in disgust.Sam bowed her head, and Egeria took control.“You were always a good brother,” Egeria replied.“My queen.” He was so happy that his eyes glowed again, and his expression was pure joy.She kissed him softly.Per’sus brushed his hand on her side as he kissed her in return.Garshaw walked in, then waited.“Has Jacob figured out that you are part of the relationship yet?” Per’sus asked.“No. I figured I would wait until you were awake to share the blame.”Per’sus laughed.Garshaw approached, then took his other hand. “Samantha, Malek, and Kelmaa have made a new version of the Tretonin, one that does not use symbiotes.““Despite everything they have done, I do not wish for thousands to die.” Egeria frowned. “That was never my intention.”Per’sus nodded.Egeria kissed him again, retreated once more and approached Garshaw. Sam blushed slightly. “This is…”Garshaw smiled.Sam touched her sides, letting her hand relax. She felt Garshaw doing the same, and Egeria was encouraging. Sam leaned in and kissed her.She was warm and soft. Her hands slid up her back. Her head tingled with excitement.“Sam?!” Was her dad’s voice.Sam would have blushed if not for Egeria, and Garshaw laughed a bit.“You! What! You! Per’sus! It was you two!” Jacob was shocked and angry.“Are you going to lecture us?” Per’sus asked, very amused.“Yes! And you are going to listen to every word. Selmak!” He gestured angrily, then rubbed over the back of his neck. It’s not funny!

“Sam get out,” Jacob ordered.Sam kissed Per’sus’ temple before leaving.Per’sus did his best to not smile.He failed.“You’re not touching her until you marry her.”“Of course not,” Per’sus replied.“Good.” Jacob looked to Garshaw. “Neither are you.”“You may recall, it is traditional for Yosuuf’s people to wait until marriage.”“And she’s broken that tradition multiple times.”They smiled.“You’ll treat her right. You’ll-“Seriously?! Selmak thought as the two high councilors began laughing.“You are going to hear this speech, so stop laughing.”Per’sus smiled. “Very well.” He gestured with his hand. “Continue.”Jacob continued on as they smiled and did not laugh at him. It usually scared men away from Sam, or at least intimidated them.They were just highly amused.

Jacob went on for fifteen minutes.Per’sus nodded his head after. “I will treat her with respect and dignity.”“As will I,” Garshaw replied.They both retreated.“Are you going to lecture us as well?” Einar asked.“Ha ha.”~+~+~.Sam smiled when Per’sus sat by her. “Did Dad give you the lecture?”“Yes.”“He has insisted that we have a ceremony,” Garshaw said as she approached.Egeria wiggled. I finally get a wedding.
