It had been a long day. Certainly, one that was unexpected but one that had brought some change to Riverdale and hopefully for the better. For Jughead, mixed feelings passed through him; all he wanted was to return home and sit with a few comic books. As Jughead made his way to his trailer, his expression still saddened from the day his eyes landed on Tabitha Tate inside his trailer. As he opened the door, she rose from the chair she was sitting in, wearing a rose-pink dress and a light blue blazer, smiling at the sight of him. Seeing her brought some excitement to him. It had been a few weeks since he had last seen her, and he did keep his promise this time, sending over her homework as well as communicating with an occasional letter, so It was nice to see her in person again.“Tabitha!” Jughead said as a smile stretched across his face as he closed the door behind him and rushed over to her. It was certainly a surprise to see her. He had been keeping in contact with her through letters just as he had promised her while also sending her her homework.“Hey stranger,” Tabitha replied as she opened her arms as Jughead rushed to embrace her in a hug. It had been so long since she had seen him. Since she had held him in her arms, feeling the comfort he had always managed to give her, and in those few seconds, Tabitha felt a feeling she hadn’t felt in a long time. A familiar feeling, one that made her feel safe. As she released him, he stared into her eyes, keeping his excited expression as she smiled up at him.Jughead took a deep breath “You’re a sight for sore eyes,” he chuckled. "It's so good to see you.""Yeah..." Tabitha breathed, "It's good to see you too. You have no idea," She half smiled as she stared into his eyes. She truly had missed him. Missed being with him.Jughead returned her smile he then realised something different about her, “Wait... what happened to your glasses?” Jughead asked curiously, tilting his head.Tabitha sighed, her smile slowly fading, turning into a more serious look “Jughead…" She breathed, preparing herself to tell him everything "I’m not the Tabitha from 1955. She’s still on the tour with the NAACP with her parents. I’m the Tabitha who you’ve forgotten," she said."Uh," he chuckled nervously, clearly confused, not knowing how to react to her statement, "What are you talking about? What do you mean forgotten?"Tabitha sighed before continuing, “We're not from the year 1955. All of us, you, me, all our friends, most of the town… are from the future. From the year 2023."“What?" Jughead said in disbelief, "I don't… I don’t understand. What do you mean we're from the future? How can we be from the future, How is that even possible?” Jughead asked, scrunching his nose as his head rushed with questions, unsure of what she was talking about.“I know it sounds crazy, but I swear everything I am telling you is true... and I promise... it will all make sense in a moment, but I need you to trust me on this…" Tabitha paused for a moment before asking her question. "Do you… Trust me?” Tabitha asked, looking directly into his eyes. She looked almost sad but tried to keep a hopeful expression in the hopes that Jughead would believe her, that he would trust her with what she was about to do.Jughead looked at her for a few seconds as if he were trying to read her mind. He wondered what she meant by trusting her, but he knew he did. Without hesitation, Jughead nodded slowly before speaking, “Yeah. Of course, I trust you,” Jughead replied.Tabitha grabbed his hands gently “Good,” she whispered as she smiled again as she leaned in and kissed him on the lips, which caught him off guard for a moment. Instead of pulling away, Jughead leans in closer. There was something familiar about it. Something that just felt right. With that feeling inside him, he moved his free hand to her waist, pulling her in closer to him. As she let go, she slowly took a step back and looked at him with a worried look; she had hoped that getting his memories back wasn't too much for him. “Well?” Tabitha asked, still holding onto his hand.Jughead took a moment as he breathed slowly, taking everything in as he sat down in shock, letting go of her hands. His memories started flowing back as if his life was flashing before his eyes. “I remember,” Jughead breathed softly. “I remember everything,” Jughead whispered as a tear slid down his cheek. He lifted his head and met Tabitha’s eyes as she sat opposite him.Tabitha nodded her head slowly, her eyes almost saddened. She placed her hand on his again, trying to comfort him. "That I sent you and everyone back to 1955?" Tabitha asked, unsure of how much he remembered, "To save the people of Riverdale from Bailey's comet?" She continued. Jughead nodded, unable to come up with anything to say. Tabitha decided to carry on talking, "And that, while you and our friends worked to make this timeline less dark and nihilistic and hopeless, I was trying to untangle the various timelines that had gotten jumbled. Shore up the multiverse, in other words.""Were we successful?” Jughead asked, his eyes slightly welled while smiling at her, hoping the answer would be yes.Tabitha smiled softly at him. "You were. You all did great. All of your collective innate decency. All of your struggles have started to reshape this town, this world, and it will just keep getting better and better."“Neat,” Jughead chuckled “Awesome,” he quickly added as he remembered that he no longer thought he was from 1955.“Yeah, It is,” Tabitha said as she held his hand.“Um... were you successful too?” Jughead asked her, hopefully, his eyes still filled with tears.“After much trial and error, I finally managed to untangle and rearrange all the timelines and universes, so yes, I was successful. Everything has gone back to normal... well normal for Riverdale at least," Tabitha joked, trying to lighten the mood and making Jughead chuckle through his misty eyes. "Everything is as it should be,” she smiled."That's great news," Jughead said with a deep breath filled with both relief and happiness."Yeah... It is," Tabitha replied. "It's finally all over."“So, what happens now? Can we go back home? I mean... back to the future, or present... our timeline,” Jughead asked.Tabitha nodded firmly “We can. If that’s what you want. I will send everyone in Riverdale home, everyone who doesn’t belong here will go back to our timeline, back to our present. Back home,” she said.Jughead chuckled as he stood up, still holding onto her hand, and Tabitha followed as they both embraced in another hug. Jughead moved a little, placing his forehead against hers, still smiling with relief. It felt good to be with her again after so long.“We have a lot to catch up on, so much to talk about,” he said as he leaned in slowly, his lips brushing against Tabitha's in a tender, lingering kiss. It was a kiss filled with all the longing and affection they had been missing out on for so long. Their lips moved in perfect harmony, their connection deepening with each passing second. He brought his hands up, sliding them up her back, keeping her as close to him as he could.“Yeah, I guess we do”, Tabitha whispered as she let go of his lips, placing her forehead back on his. It felt so good to be in his arms again. To be able to feel safe again, “You have no idea how much I’ve missed you,” Tabitha whispered as she continued to smile. "How much I thought about you while I was away."“I would say the same, but unfortunately, until about five minutes ago, I couldn't remember you, or at least this version of you”, Jughead joked, his nose brushing against hers.“Yeah, I guess that one’s on me,” she giggled along with him. Sorry I took so long, fixing timelines was harder than I thought.""Don't be, I am glad you're back, though," Jughead smiled, kissing her softly again. She leaned into the kiss, forgetting everything else but him."Well, It's good to be back," Tabitha replied, leaning back as she broke from the kiss. "I'm just glad it's all over," she replied.Jughead stroked a part of her hair from her face, holding it and staring into her eyes, knowing everything in the world was right again. “I love you”, Jughead whispered as he kissed her again, keeping his hand on her cheek and holding her as close as he possibly could. Tabitha slid both her hands up his chest and wrapped them around his neck as their kiss continued to get deeper. She didn't realise how much she missed being with him, the comfort of being in his arms, of him holding her, of being in his company.“I love you too,” She whispered between their kisses. After about a minute, Tabitha pulled away a little bit, knowing she still had some things to do “As much as I would love to continue this reunion of ours," she began, her hands moving to his cheek ", I think we should probably go find the others and see if we can give them back their memories as well. Tell them our news.” she raised her eyebrows.“Yeah, probably,” Jughead smiled "Hopefully, they believe me this time. Last time, they just thought I was crazy, I mean... I almost ended up at the sisters of Quiet Mercy," Jughead laughed."I mean, to be fair, you did kind of give off the crazy vibe... like when you suggested to blow up Betty and Archie," Tabitha grinned."Yeah, fair point," Jughead chuckled while scratching the back of his head. "I guess claiming that we're from the future does make me sound like a madman. Let's hope they believe it this time.""Don't worry, they will," Tabitha laughed along with him. "This time, you'll have me to back you up," she smiled."Well, I guess they would believe it if it came from you," Jughead chuckled."Just part of my charm, I guess," Tabitha winked."Yeah, that and the fact that everyone loves you," Jughead raised his eyebrow."Hey, I can't help that," Tabitha giggled.“Wait?” Jughead said as he pulled back slightly. “You don’t have to kiss everyone else to give them back their memories. Do you?” Jughead asked worried. Tabitha laughed at Jughead’s statement. “Cause if you did, that would really suck,” Jughead pouted while looking down into her eyes.“Oh, I don’t know about that, it sounds kind of fun to me,” Tabitha raised an eyebrow while smirking.“Tabby!” Jughead said playfully while making a puppy dog face. "Don't joke about that," he said playfully ensuring her that he was just playing along.“I’m joking, Jug, Of course, I don’t have to kiss everyone. I can do it a different way. In fact... I can give them all their memories all at the same time with a little help from a light,” Tabitha smiled as she lifted her head high." So why kiss me to give me my memories back if you can do it another way?" he asked playfully."Because I had to kiss you to erase you're memories, remember, so... that was the main reason, well that and because I wanted to," she smiled nervously."Oh right," Jughead smiled. "Well then, shall we go and find our friends, and give them their memories too?" he asked offering her his hand to hold looking down at her."Yes, Jug, Let's go and give our friends their memories back," She breathed as she took his hand again, and they walked out of his train car together and headed out to gather everyone and share their news.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
So Once again, Jughead gathered all his friends into a classroom and explained how they were all from the future, how they could get their memories back if they wanted to and most importantly, that they were able to go back home to their original. However, just like last time, none of them believed him. All of them were either smirking, giving him awkward stares or biting their tongues trying not to laugh.“Seriously Jughead! Not this again. I thought we had already gone over this two months ago. We are not from the future,” Archie said, rolling his eyes, then turned his head to Betty, who was standing next to him, smirking while trying to hold in her laughter.“No, I know, but it’s different this time. Like I said, you can get your memories back now. We can go back home If you guys want to,” He repeated.“How?” Veronica asked, scrunching her nose and narrowing her eyes.“Okay, so you all know Tabitha, right? Well, she is part angel, and she also has time-travelling powers. She is the one who can give you all your memories back." The room began to fill with small giggles from everyone as they all eyeballed him."Okay..." Cheryl gritted her teeth "He has officially lost his mind," Cheryl laughed while glancing at Toni, who was also smirking and shaking her head.“Yeah. While I agree Tabitha most definitely has the personality of an angel in every sense, I very much doubt she is a literal one, and besides, she’s not even here. She's still on the tour,” Toni commented as her eyes shifted from Cheryl to Jughead, still smirking.“Aww, thank you for the compliment, Toni. That's very sweet of you to say,” Tabitha said as she entered the room smiling, standing near the doorway.“Tabitha!” Toni rushed to her, embracing her in a huge hug. "I can't believe you're back," Cheryl and Betty also followed, hugging their friend.“Hey you guys, I’ve missed you all... so much,” Tabitha said as she smiled, holding on to them tight.“What are you doing here, I thought you were still on the tour,” Betty asked, smiling as she released her from the hug.“I am. Sort of. That Tabitha is my 50s counterpart. I’m the Tabitha that you all originally knew, or at least used to know and don't worry, Jug is not crazy. Everything that he has just told you is true."
"Really?" Cheryl said in an unconvinced laugh.""Yeah," Tabitha replied. "I know it sounds crazy, but It's what happened."“Wait, so... you're really an angel?” Betty asked, raising her left eyebrow still a little in disbelief.“Well, kind of, Part angel would be more accurate,” Tabitha corrected “I’m still technically human like all of you. I just have special abilities at the moment,” she smiled.“And were really from the future?” Cheryl asked, also raising an eyebrow.“We are. I was the one who sent you here to save you all from the comet before it destroyed Riverdale. Our timeline's version of Riverdale.”“So you can give us our lost memories? Everything that we have forgotten?” Archie asked, still unsure if this was real.“Yes, I can, well, most of you, at least. Clay and Julian, there are no memories for you to restore. Clay, like my 50s counterpart, you originate in this timeline you were born here and have always been here, and as for Julian… um well, it’s a bit more complicated”. Tabitha bit her bottom lip, knowing he wouldn’t like what she was about to tell him.“Complicated how?” Julian asked, slightly scared of the answer.“Umm,” Tabitha hesitated to answer the question. “Apparently, you were a doll in our original timeline”."A what?" Julian answered, confused, his eyes widening."A doll," Tabitha repeated, biting her bottom lip.“I...I don’t even know how to respond to that, how is that even possible? How can I have been a doll?” Julian said looking at his sister who shrugged her shoulders looking just as confused as he did even though she did know a little about it.“I’m sorry," Tabitha said. "I know it's not the best way to explain it, and I'm not sure how it happened. It’s just how it is…or was at least,” Tabitha cringed almost feeling bad for Julian.“I think we are getting a little off track,” Jughead cut in before the situation got too awkward for her.“Right, yes okay so I guess the best way to do this would be that if you want your memories back then stay in the room, if not then I would advise you to leave, for now at least,” she said as she looked around at all her friends.Everyone stayed where they were wanting to know the truth except for Julian and Clay who began to leave the room knowing that there was nothing for them to return. Kevin's head turned to him realising that he was leaving.“Wait! Where are you going?” Kevin grabbed Clay’s hand stopping him from leaving.“You heard what Tabitha said,” Clay smiled softly “I have no memories to return. Apparently. So I might as well leave the room for now”.“Wait I’ll come with you,” Kevin said as he began to follow Clay towards the door.“No," Clay said stopping Kevin from moving. "You should stay here. Get your memories back. It might be good for you to do so. But don’t worry. I’ll see you soon okay,” Clay said as he softly let go of his hand smiling.Kevin thought for a moment before answering “Okay,” Kevin nodded although he didn't want him to leave. “I’ll come and find you as soon as it’s over.”Once they had both left everyone else in the room stayed silent and all eyes were on Tabitha waiting for her to make a move. “Okay, are you guys ready?” Tabitha asked raising both her hands in front of her.“Woah hang on one second, is this gonna hurt, because if it is then maybe I’d rather not do it,” Reggie raised his hands as if he were protecting himself.Tabitha chuckled a little “No, no it won’t hurt, It will be like your life flashing before your eyes. Completely painless, but that being said… There will be memories that you might not like. It will be a mix of good and bad memories. Light and dark. Everything you have ever done in your life, you will see it all, remember it all, so I guess brace yourselves for that," she gave a small smile. “Let's just get this over with,” Veronica said tapping her high heel on the ground while getting impatient.“Are you guys ready?” Tabitha asked as she scanned the room and as she did everyone nodded. With that, Tabitha held out her hands again and shined a bright light in the room making it almost impossible to see anything. A minute passed and the light faded away the room filled with shocked faces, some had tears, and others were too in shock to speak a word.LaterEveryone's memories had now returned. Everything they had done and gone through in their previous lives was now back. They had all gathered around and sat together discussing their newfound knowledge. Remembering what they had done together both in this timeline and future. Now came the hard part. Discussing what was next for them and what they were going to do now.“Now you know. The lives you’ve lived, the adventures you had, the people you’ve lost and loved. Everything you went through back home.”“The good, the bad…the bear,” Jughead continued his gaze shifted to Archie from the mention of the bear.“So, what happens now?” Archie asked looking at Tabitha. As did everyone else waiting for her to answer his question.Tabitha took a deep breath her hand on her lap “Well…” Tabitha started “That’s up to you. For each of you to decide.”“What does that mean?” Veronica asked raising an eyebrow.“A choice,” Tabitha answered “I can give you all a choice. The choice to leave and return home… to become our original ages and continue our lives from where we left off... or the choice to stay here in this timeline and live out your lives here.”The room stayed silent for a moment. Everyone looked at each other unsure of what to say. “What happens to everyone else in Riverdale? Are they staying? Or are you going to send them back as well? Betty asked.“I will take them back home. Those who don't belong here and are from our timeline. They won’t remember any of what has happened here, but I wanted to give you guys a choice. A lot has happened here and some of you your lives have changed. Some of you met people here that you have become close with and some of you are reunited with lost ones. Some of you may want to stay here."“Wait what does mean?” Kevin asked looking at Tabitha while grabbing Clay's hand who had come back into the room along with Julian.Tabitha sighed before giving the answer she knew they might not like. “Anyone who died in our original timeline and has resurrected here, anyone who was originally in this timeline won’t be able to come to our original timeline. I may have restored the timelines but bringing people who have died or don’t belong in the future could damage it again. It just wouldn't be safe.”"Why not?" he asked."I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, I just know what I know, all of which came from my guardian angel," Tabitha frowned.Once again, the room went silent. Everyone was unsure of what to say. What can you say after all of that? Eyes shifted from person to person. Wait for someone to speak first. Some to make the first move.“Tabitha?" Toni spoke quietly, she had been waiting for a while to ask a very important question "Where is Antony?” She asked with her eyes watering up worried and scared for the answer on the whereabouts of her son.“He’s safe," Tabitha reassured her. "I promise... I mean he’s a baby again but I made sure that he’s safe. So are Polly’s twins Juniper and Dagwood. They are all already back home in the present,” Tabitha said looking over at Betty and giving her a soft smile of reassurance. Both Betty and Toni nodded in relief at Tabitha’s statement unable to say anything else. Like everyone else, they weren't sure what to say. The entire process of this was surreal... almost unbelievable.Archie decided to break the silence and speak up “How long do we have to decide?” he said looking over at Betty who was sitting in a chair beside him.“Till tomorrow night. That’s when I must take everyone else back. That is when the timelines and universes will close off forever." she paused for a moment looking at everyone who all still looked confused but also almost sad, "I know it’s a lot to think about. So, take some time and think about what you guys want for yourselves because this is a decision that will change the rest of your lives and you can all let me know what each of you want tomorrow at Pops,” Tabitha said with a half smile. Everyone looked at her giving slow nods processing the information they had been given. They began glancing at each other giving knowing glances indicating for them to leave together.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Once their discussion was over everyone began to get up and leave the room. Some leave in pairs while others leave alone. There was much to think about now knowing they had this choice to make with little time to make it. Cheryl and Toni left together hand in hand, Archie, Reggie and Betty left to go to their homes, Fangs left by himself wanting to make a call to Midge to tell her everything, and Kevin and Clay also left as a pair. As for Veronica as she began to get up she looked over at Jughead who she had hoped would leave with her but noticed that his eyes were fixed on Tabitha. Realising what was already obvious she decided to leave by herself. Jughead and Tabitha were the last ones to be in the room. Tabitha rose from her seat and began to follow everyone out the door.“Wait where are you going?” Jughead asked grabbing her hand gently in the hopes that she doesn’t leave his side.“Well… I was going to go stay at 50s Tabitha’s house and rest. You know while I wait for everyone to make their decisions. You know since it's empty, She and her parents are still on the tour so I might as well” Tabitha smiled while looking up at him.“Or…" he said taking a step closer to her "If you want you could come with me, we could go back to mine,” Jughead gave a cheeky smile, which made Tabitha giggle a little shaking her head. She had forgotten how cute he could be sometimes.“As much as I would love to, I don’t think that’s a good idea. At least until you figure things out,” Tabitha said stroking her thumb against his hand.“What do you mean?” Jughead asked tilting his head to the side. "Figure what out?" he asked tilting his head back up while shaking it slightly."Things like... like what you want for your future," Tabitha smiled warmly. "There are things you need to think over. Things you need to do.""Like what?" Jughead said his nose scrunched up confused.“Like talking to Veronica for one,” Tabitha gave an awkward smile. "You two are pretty close now," Tabitha said as her smile turned slightly into a sad one.“You know about that?” Jughead asked his face turned into a frown too while he scratched the back of his neck. Tabitha replied with a nod glancing up at him unsure of what else to say.“Oh God!” Jughead said as realised how badly he screwed up. “I completely forgot about that,” he said biting his bottom lip.“Yeah,” Tabitha’s eyes shifted to the ground for a moment and then back into jughead’s eyes. "Guess that’s one of the things on our list that we needed to talk about huh, probably should have mentioned it before,” she smiled even more not knowing what else to do or say.“Tabitha..." Jughead breathed deeply "I’m… I’m so sorry. I mean I don’t even know where to begin to tell you how sorry I am... I messed up, you were out saving us and I... I was-”“Hey…" She began sweetly "No, no don’t be sorry, none of this is your fault. You didn’t know. How could you?... Honestly, I thought something like this might happen..." She paused for a moment looking slightly sad thinking of what to say next "But I think you need to take time and figure out what or… who you want” Tabitha said as she began to release his hand.“What? No!” Jughead said as he gently grabbed her hands again and lifted them slowly holding them with both of his. “I don’t need to think anything over. I have already made my choice and my decision. I chose you; I chose us and where you go, I go. Whether that's staying here or going back, I don't care. As long as it's with you okay?” he said leaning in even closer to her.Tabitha smiled as a single tear fell from her eye “Really? Because I would understand if you…” Before Tabitha could finish Jughead cut her off by pulling her by her waist into him as he kissed her holding on to her tight.“Does that answer your question,” Jughead smirked as he leaned his forehead against hers still holding on to her waist holding her against his own body.Tabitha closed her eyes smiling “Yeah, I guess it does,” she whispered against his lips as she kissed him back and then let go again."Good. Because I'm not gonna lose you again." Jughead said as he brought his hand up to stroke her cheek with his thumb.Tabitha smiled at his words leaning into his touch but knew he still had unfinished business. “Okay," she whispered "But you still need to talk to Veronica. It’s the right thing to do,”"Do I really have to?" Jughead bit his bottom lip. Tabitha raised her eyebrow giving him his answer. Jughead sighed for a moment. “Yeah, I know. You don’t think she will kill me for cheating on her, do you?” He cringed.“The Veronica that I know and remember... Probably,” Tabitha replied with a small giggle. "But you have to do it."Jughead nodded “Okay, I'll talk to her; I’ll go see her now, but will you come over to mine later? We can continue our reunion," He smiled "Catch up more and talk about what has been going on for you.”Tabitha's smile grew wider as she looked into his eyes “Sure, I’ll be there,” Tabitha smiled."Great. I'll see you tonight," Jughead smiled back."See you tonight Jug," Tabitha smiled as she leaned in to kiss him once more. Andrew’s house“So what are you going to pick Andrews?” Reggie asked as they sat on the porch in front of Archie’s house. Archie looked at Reggie for a moment silently. He knew before he decided anything, he would need to talk to a certain someone. Since his memories had returned he had kept replaying a moment in his head over and over again.“Umm not sure yet, Before I even think about that I need to talk to Betty first,” Archie said as he shifted his eyes to her house knowing she was inside with her mom.“Ah because you two were going as we call it here “going steady” weren't you” Reggie joked playfully shoving Archie with his shoulder against his. Archie chuckled along with him.“It was more than that Reg," Archie said turning his head to face him "Before the comet hit,” Archie paused for a moment remembering the moment replaying it in his head. His happiest moment despite the circumstances of the day. “We got engaged.”“Wait seriously…? No fooling?” Reggie said surprised but excited straightening himself up.“Yeah,” Archie smiled “Pretty much. She asked me to marry her and without a second thought I said yes.”“She asked you?” Reggie said with a surprised tone while raising his eyebrows.“Well technically I asked her first that same day but that didn’t really go as planned,” Archie chuckled scratching the back of his head. “But that night she asked me and it was honestly the best moment of my life, despite our circumstances of course” Archie chuckled. "I had never been so happy in my life."“And I’m only finding out about this now?” Reggie said offended. "Why didn't you say anything before?" Reggie shoved him playfully.“Well, we didn’t really have time to tell anyone,” Archie laughed. “And you were with Veronica for most of that day so I didn’t even see you much.” Archie gave a smile biting a part of his bottom lip.“Okay then. So what are you doing here with me? Go to your fiancé man,” Reggie said as he grabbed Archie’s shoulder.“She’s at home with her mom right now. I wanted to give her a moment. I suppose in a way we are all a little on edge since getting our memories back,” Archie replied.“Yeah I guess. It is hard to believe that we’re here. Back in high school as well,” Reggie laughed.“Yeah, how did we end up in high school again?” Archie laughed and Reggie laughed along with him.“Riverdale never ceases to surprise us” Reggie commented “but even through all the crazy things we have been through, we have had good times too," Reggie smiled.“Yeah, we have. And we all became so close. Both here and back home” Archie returned his smile and then looked down at his feet as his mind trailed back to Betty. “I love her Reg and I don’t want to lose her. I just don’t know what I’m gonna do”.“I’ll tell you what you're going to do Andrews. You’re going to go over to Goldilock's house and have a little heart-to-heart talk with her and I’m sure you will decide together on your future,”“Yeah,” Archie lifted his head. “You’re right. I’m going to go,” Archie said as he rose from the steps. “Wait! What about you? What are you going to do?” He said looking down at him.“Don't worry about that, I’ll tell you later, for now, go and do what you need to do,” Reggie said smiling.Archie hesitated at first before giving a small nod “Okay,” Archie said as he began to speed away.“HEY ANDREWS!” Reggie called out causing Archie to stop halfway through the driveway. “I love you, bro,” Reggie said as he waved.“Yeah, I love you too Reg” Archie replied nodding as he headed for the girl next door. Also known as his fiancé and the girl he loved.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
After receiving their lost memories both Toni and Cheryl decided to retreat to Thornhill to re-evaluate everything that had happened. They sat inside Cheryl's living room together right in front of the fireplace discussing their returned memories and their lives both past and current.“Toni…? Can I ask you something?” Cheryl’s said softly as she leaned her arm on the couch resting her head on her hand.“Of course babe,” Toni replied with a half smile as she tilted her head while looking directly into Cheryl's eyes.“What’s going to happen between you and Fangs?” Cheryl asked almost worried.“What do you mean?” Toni asked confused while taking her hand noticing some fear in her eyes.“I can only assume what your decision is,” Cheryl said.“Cheryl… I have to go back. If Antony really is back home and is a baby again I must back for him. He’s my son, and I love him, but what does that have to do with Fangs?”.“Fangs is Antony's father and you’re also married to him in our original timeline.” Cheryl reminded her looking down at their hands as they were intertwined.“Yes, he is, but we're not even together anymore. Since being here so much has changed for the both of us” Toni assured Cheryl stroking her hand with her thumb.“Yes. I suppose it has." Cheryl formed a small smile on her face.“He has midge now, not to mention he is having a child with her. My guess is... that he will choose to stay here with her but so much has changed for you and me too. You and I were able to find each other again. We’re here together again and I never want to lose that. And if I’m being honest... I don’t think I ever loved Fangs the way I love you. The way I have always loved you. You have always been… and always will be the only one for me”.“I love you too Toni. And I will never let anything separate us again” Cheryl smiled while her eyes watered.“Neither will I,” Toni squeezed Cheryl’s hand.“Oh TT. Who knew it would take erasing our memories and travelling to another timeline for us to find each other again.” Cheryl said as she placed her hand against Toni’s cheek pulling her in for a kiss.“Yeah. Who knew” Toni laughed as she pulled back and leaned her head on Cheryl’s shoulder.“I guess Heather was right,” Cheryl whispered.“Right about what?” Toni asked confused.“Before the comet hit she broke up with me and told me that you and I were soulmates. That our fate is written in the stars and that our love transcends time. That we were destined to be together again.”“Really?" Toni smiled proudly. "She said that?”“Yeah. She knew we would find our way back to each other.” Cheryl gave a small laugh. "That we were meant to be."“Cheryl there’s something I have to tell you” Toni stared into Cheryl's eyes. It’s about that night. The night our bodies were possessed… I think is the right word by our ancestors”.“What about it?” Cheryl asked tilting her head.“When you asked if I remembered anything about that, I may have lied a little. I mean I didn’t remember everything but there were little snippets in my memory. Small parts of it that suck in my mind." Toni glanced at her smiling softly.“Me too” Cheryl whispered smiling at her. "I wasn't sure why though"“Maybe they left it for us. Maybe they knew” Toni returned her smile while Cheryl nodded. “For the record babe. I never stopped loving you. Not for one moment.”“Me either TT. Cheryl rested her head against Toni’s as both continued to hold each other's hands.“And when we get back home things will be even better for us. We’re gonna be happy. You and me. Just as it always should be” Toni said as she leaned into Cheryl's lips pulling her into her body as she kissed her."That is a future I am looking forward to" Cheryl smiled between their kisses." And if you're up for it maybe you could raise Antony with me, Something we could do together?""I'd be honoured" Cheryl smiled leaning back into the kiss. And who knows... maybe sometime in the future we could have more kids," Toni smiled."Any life with you TT would be a blessing, whatever happens," Cheryl smiles at her leaning in to kiss her.
Cooper HouseArchie had walked over to Betty's door. Before knocking he checked his pocket making sure he had the poem he had written for her a while ago. He figured that now was as good of a time as any to finally give it to her. He gave a gentle knock standing up straight trying to look presentable. A few seconds passed by before Betty opened the door and their eyes met filled with relief.“Archie,” Betty smiled softly as she said his name.“Hey…” Archie chuckled “Am I disturbing you?” he said taking his hands out of his pocket.“No... not at all. Please come in. I was actually on my way to see you myself,” Betty said as she moved to the side letting him pass. Both made their way up the stairs and entered Betty’s bedroom where they sat opposite each other on her bed.“So here we are once again,” Archie chuckled grabbing her hand softly.“Yeah, here we are,” Betty smiled while she held tight to his hand. “I can't believe all of this has happened, So much has happened for us Arch. Never in a million years did I ever expect to have my memories wiped and living in 1955 of all things,” Betty laughed."Yeah," Archie chuckled "That and becoming teenagers again," Archie laughed.Yeah... that part is insane too, having to redo high school again is not something I wanted to do," Betty laughed.“Yeah, I suppose our lives have always been messy and complicated. It's never been easy for us, but we made it. From serial killers and cults and us getting powers, in all the darkness we lived through, we always had each other. Since the beginning, You and me... we made it,” Betty paused for a moment. "You've always been my light Arch."You've always been mine too Betty... since the day we met," Archie smiled.“Yeah. It’s always been us Arch. Us against the world, and something that I have noticed that it always has been, whether it is in our present timeline, here in this one or even in a parallel universe... It's always you and me, we always find each other,” Betty shuffled closer still holding his hand. “And now we have this choice. One that will change our lives forever,” Betty continued.“Do you... Do you know what you want to do?” Archie asked.“I’ve given it a lot of thought, you know as to how we have lived here these last few months. How we lived back home. How things ended for us, all of which have influenced my decision.”“Which is?” Archie spoke softly as he leaned in closer.“I’m going to go back. I want to go back. Back home where I believe I can be who I am. But this time I’m going to live in the light. I want to live in the light. I truly believe I can, back home where I belong.” Betty smiled. Archie returned her smile stroking her hand with his thumb and pushing some hair back behind her ear with the other one. "What about you? What do you want?" Betty asked as she into his touch.I want to be happy, doesn't matter where... but I know I want to be with you... only you."Oh Archie" Betty whispered.“Do you still love me?” Archie asked stroking her hand slowly.Betty looked at the boy who sat in front of her and smiled “I don’t think I ever stopped Arch. Not for one moment. It was always you,” Betty placed her hand on Archie’s cheek stroking it gently as she stared into his eyes full of love. "I will always love you," she smiled.“I’m glad you feel that way because I have been meaning to give you something for a while”. Archie said as he pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it over to Betty. "I have been carrying this with me for a while, waiting for the right moment to give it to you".“Arch… what is this?” Betty asked as she took, the paper from his hand.“Read it,” Archie said gesturing to the paper and smiling down at it.“The morning light
Washes over her window
As she pulls back her blonde hair
Sparkling like a thousand suns
I need her love"“Oh, Archie..." She smiled "It’s beautiful,” Betty said beginning to tear up. You wrote this for me?" she asked.Archie smiled chewing slightly on his bottom lip, "Yeah, of course, I did, a little while ago. Figured now would be a good time.""It reminds me of when you wrote me that song during senior year," Betty gave a small laugh. "But back then things were so different, So complicated."“Well, they're not anymore. Betty, I Love you too and where you go, I go. I mean It’s always been us, right? A boy and a girl. Next door to each other. Best friends who have always loved each other and fell in love. A story that started with us, and one we will continue together till the end” Archie smiled “I want to go back too. I want to back with you. In the hopes that we will continue our story from where we left off”.“I would love nothing more Arch. Moving forward with you. My best friend, the one I trust more than anyone and the one I have always loved and always will” Betty said softly pausing for a moment as she focused on his eyes that slowly began to become cloudy from almost tears. “Remember when I asked you to marry me? We were in this very room. On this very bed... you said yes” She gave a small laugh as she spoke.Archie's smile grew as she talked about their proposal “Yeah. I haven't been able to stop thinking about that since we got our memories back” Archie smiled, "You asking me to marry you... honestly, it was the best moment of my life." Betty's smile grew even wider listening to his words “That’s the life I want to go back to, The life that we can have. I mean we don’t have to rush into anything, we can take our time to settle back into our lives." Betty tilted her head. "but that is what I want to do and only with you. Everything we did in the past, everything we went through and fought was for each other and our future."“As long as we’re together Betty. That’s all that matters to me,” Archie replied. "I want to be with you always.""Well then, how about this time we lock the door and you can spend the night, so it's just you and me," Betty smirked widening her eyes. "Hopefully this time no one will interrupt us," she giggled."Already way ahead of you," Archie chuckled as he jumped off the bed ran to the door and locked it rushing back to her climbing back on the bed and leaning on top of her as she giggled. She cupped his face as he closed the gap between them and pressed her lips against his. She ran her hands up his chest, over his shoulders, and then down his back, feeling the play of muscles beneath her fingertips. He shifted, his hips moving rhythmically against hers, and she arched into the sensation, moaning softly. She wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers tangled in his hair, holding him as close to her as possible.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Jughead wandered through the Babylonium looking for Veronica. Knowing and fearing the conversation he was about to have may ruin their friendship. Which wasn't what he wanted and he definitely didn't want to hurt her but he knew they had to have this conversation. He had to be honest with her and tell her the truth even if she didn't like it. When he found her he noticed her at her desk writing on a piece of paper. Her shoulder dropped as low as possible as her head was facing down.“Hey Veronica,” Jughead said as he knocked on the already open door to the office.“Jughead... hey come in,” Veronica said giving a half smile as she placed her pen down and straightened her papers on her desk. “What's up?” she sat up in her chair.“Are you working? Like now? With everything going on,” Jughead asked curiously raising an eyebrow.“What else would Veronica Lodge be doing at a time like this?" Veronica chuckled. “Please sit,” She gestured to the chair opposite her desk. “So, what can I do for you, Jones?” Veronica grinned.“Jones?" Jughead raised an eyebrow as he sat down "Nice to see that we’re being formal now.” Jughead laughed as he leaned back in his chair. He paused for a moment before speaking again “I just figured we should talk; you know about everything going on” Jughead took a pause again giving the room an awkward silence, “How are doing? You know with your memories coming back and having to choose between staying here or going back home.”“Honestly… It’s a lot to process. Remembering everything that I did in the past, everything we went through and what my life has been like here. Having so much power in one single choice that will potentially change my life forever, I don't even know what to think." she shrugged her shoulders.“Yeah. I know it’s not easy. I don’t think in a million years we would have thought that our lives would have led to this. Even in Riverdale” Jughead laughed at his joke.
“Yeah, somehow Riverdale never ceases to amaze me. I mean us being 1955 is pretty unbelievable,” Veronica joked through her frown. Veronica looked up at Jughead for a moment. “What about you? How are you dealing with all of this?”.“Not too bad. I mean still in a little in shock that we are actually in the past and that we are teenagers again but other than that I think I’m doing okay.”“Have you..." She began pausing for a moment unsure of what to ask "Made your decision?” Veronica asked moving her hands from the table to her knees. Her eyes seemed sad. Almost as if she knew his answer already. She had noticed him being pretty close to Tabitha earlier. How he had chosen to sit next to her during their group conversation and Veronica wasn't stupid. She knew the love he had for her before they came to the past. She knew the life he had lived with her while they were together. She knew where his heart was.“I have,” Jughead nodded his head “Actually It’s part of the reason why I’m here to talk to you,” Jughead gave her a small smile.“You’re going back… aren’t you?” Veronica said in a low voice but returned his smile.Jughead replied with a nod before taking a deep breath Yeah... I am, but... there’s something I need to tell you,” Jughead bit his bottom lip. He hesitates, as his throat tightens. He knows that this conversation will most likely hurt her and will change their friendship, but he also knows it has to be done. He had to be honest with her.Veronica notices his unsure expression and gives him a soft smile “You don’t need to say anything Jughead. I think I already know what you're going to say... You’re back with Tabitha, aren’t you?” Veronica said softly.Jughead nodded his head again “Yeah... I am,” Jughead answered. He watched her expressions as he spoke hoping that his words hadn't hurt her, but her expression remained calm, her eyes glistened with not anger but understanding. “I’m so sorry Veronica… I… I should have-” Jughead began stumbling on his words but she cut him off.“You don’t have to explain anything or apologise for that matter. I understand, and I'm happy for you and for Tabitha. I mean If anything, I stole you from her while she was busy saving us and I know she is the one you love, the girl you belong with so… so it’s okay.”Jughead was taken aback by her response. He expected disappointment or hurt, which was the last thing he wanted to cause her but instead, he saw an understanding nature and with that, he was able to relax. He took a deep breath of relief before speaking again.“Really?” Jughead asked as he leaned forward towards the desk. “I genuinely thought you might kill me for this” he laughed.“Of course,” Veronica reassured him. “That girl has had your heart for a very long time now, and after everything she has done for us… for you, for this town, it would be foolish to let a girl like that go” Veronica leaned forward as well. “You two are perfect for each other, there is no denying that and I wish you both happiness.” Veronica smiled gently.“Thank you, Veronica... for understanding,” he took another breath of relief.“No problem," she winked. "Besides I sort of made a vow before the comet hit. Now that I remember said vow, I intend to keep it, at least for now,” Veronica raised her eyebrow smirking.“So..." he began with a slightly longer pause than he meant to "What about you? Are you going to stay here or come back home?” Jughead asked.“Oh I haven’t decided yet. But fear not whatever I pick I am sure my life will be fabulous either way.”“I have no doubts about that,” Jughead chuckled."Well I guess I'll see you around," Jughead smiled."Yeah... see you later," Veronica returned his smile as he got up and left the room.Kevin's houseKevin sat at the dining table of his house. He sat there in silence thinking about what everything going on. Clay joined him bringing a small plate of food placing it in front of him and then sat across him. He looked at Kevin with a worried look knowing that what he was going through couldn’t be easy.Kev… are you okay?” Clay asked his boyfriend as he sat in silence with his eyes fixed on the plate of food.“Yeah, I'm just…thinking,” Kevin said looking up for the first time in a while.“About what you're going to choose?” Clay gave a weak smile.“No. Kevin answered without hesitation. “No, I already know what I’m going to choose… I’m going to stay here. With you”. Kevin said as he grabbed Clay’s hand across the table.“You are?” Clay smiled.“Yeah” Kevin nodded “Since being with you don’t think I have ever been so happy, I was just thinking about how I lived my previous life, how many things I messed up or how many things I regret doing or not doing, and how my life never seemed right. But here… with you…It feels right, and I’ve never been so sure in my life about anything. I want to stay”. Kevin locked his eyes with Clay.“But what about your friends?”“That’s what I was thinking about” Kevin answered. “About what they were going to choose” Kevin looked back down for a moment then back up at Clay. “I’m sure that some of them will choose to go back. Actually, I think most of them will” Kevin smiled while biting his bottom lip.“And you’ll miss them?” Clay asked.“Of course I will. I mean they are people I have known for most of my life, I have grown very close with them. some more than others. you know once I actually dated Fangs" Kevin chuckled."Fangs really?""Yeah, pretty surprising huh""Do you think any of your friends will stay?" Clay asked breaking the silence."Maybe, It's hard to say but it’s their choice” Kevin paused for a moment smiling at his boyfriend. “For me, this is what I want and what anyone else chooses doesn’t matter to me. I'm choosing to move on. To move forward with you If that’s what you want too?”.“It is Kev. I want to be with you too” Clay said softly.“I believe we could have a good life. After high school, we could do so much, maybe even away from Riverdale” Kevin suggested.“Yeah, I think we can too. Nothing would make me happier Kev. Than to be with you”. Clay smiled.“Me too” Kevin replied as he tightened his grip. The day was almost over, It had been a long day, an emotional one. From getting their memories and then spending the rest of the afternoon having heart-to-heart talks, confessions of deep feelings and reuniting old flames. Everyone had practically made the choices that would determine their lives and their futures. Riverdale was now a peaceful town, after so long but they all knew that tomorrow would bring a change that would not only be permanent but also emotional.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
As the day was nearing an end after talking to Veronica, Jughead went back home and began to cook dinner while waiting for Tabitha to come over. He figured he should make them something to eat and so that they could have a meal together and talk about everything that had happened. It wasn't too long before a knock at the door occurred. Jughead turned around as he saw Tabitha through the door's window. A smile grew on his face as she opened the door and began to walk into his train car. She closed the door behind her smiling as she looked into his eyes while she walked over to him. Seeing her made his heart skip a beat. He missed her so much and was glad that she had finally shown up.“Hey, you okay?” Jughead said to her as he also walked over to her."Hey," Tabitha smiled. "Yeah, yeah I'm okay" she replied. She had changed into a light purple dress a white cardigan and black heels. Her dark hair was neatly brushed hanging behind her back.“You changed your outfit,” He said as he stood in front of her and placed his hand against her cheek stroking his thumb and brushing gently across her skin.“Yeah, I decided to borrow one of 50s Tabitha’s outfits. I’m sure she won’t miss it,” Tabitha smiled into his touch.“Well, you look beautiful," Jughead smiled still stroking her cheek.Tabitha blushed a little looking down while patting down the skirt of the dress. "What about you? How are you doing?" she said looking back up at him."Better now that you're here. I've missed you, so much," His hand moved from creasing her cheek to her hair that hung over her shoulder as he started to play with it."I've missed you too," she smiled. As they gazed into each other's eyes Jughead suddenly remembered by the smell of food that he had made them a meal. "Are you hungry? I just made dinner” Jughead pointed over to the pot on the stove.“You cooked dinner?" Tabitha raised an eyebrow speaking in a playful tone.“Hey, I can cook”. Jughead said defensively in the same playful tone as hers placing his free hand against his chest making Tabitha giggle. "I guarantee that you'll love it. Here taste the sauce" he smiled as he brought her over to the stove then grabbed the wooden spoon and took a little bit of sauce and brought it over to her mouth."Oh I'm sure I will" Tabitha tilted her head up slightly smiling as she opened her mouth to taste it."Well?" Jughead's eyes grew wide, "what do you think?" he asked."I have to say, Jug. This sauce is pretty great" She said grinning.“Told you," He said proudly smiling and putting the spoon down. "So, what have you been up to?” Jughead asked now grabbing her hands and holding them softly.“Just resting. You know I’ve been so busy the last few months that I just needed some time to rest and relax... take a mental and physical break,” Tabitha smiled.“Well, you deserve it. You know after everything you’ve done for us for this town,” Jughead stroked her hand with his thumb bringing them close to his lips and placing a gentle kiss. They stared at each other for a moment enjoying the silence and each other's presence. Jughead soon broke the silence “So, I... I talked to Veronica.”“You did? Is she okay?” Tabitha frowned almost afraid of what the answer was.“Yeah. Surprisingly she took it well. In fact..." Jughead said standing even closer to her "She understood and said she was happy for me and us.”“She Did?” She smiled at his comment as a huge amount of relief fell over her.“Yeah, she knew even before I told her. She knew what I was going to do, what I had chosen. She knew that my heart belonged to you,” Jughead said as he placed his hand back on Tabitha's cheek stroking It before leaning in to kiss her soft lips. As he did, she kissed back, and each kiss got deeper and more fervent than the last. Jughead’s arms encircled, Tabitha’s pulling her close as if he never wanted to let her go. Tabitha’s hands found their way to his chest, feeling the rhythm of his heartbeat beneath her fingers. Jughead found himself pushing off her cardigan and then undoing the buttons of her dress as Tabitha did the same with his shirt helping him remove it. Once Jughead had gotten her dress off letting it fall onto the ground he moved down kissing her collarbone as she moaned through his kisses. Tabitha kicked off her heels as he grabbed her by the waist lifting her off the floor, holding her against his body. As she wrapped her legs around him he carried her to the bed as she giggled. He lay her down gently on the bed and then crawled on top pausing for a moment to look into her eyes smiling at her beauty. His fingers moved slowly up and down her waist while she reached up to hold one side of his cheek."Making up for lost time huh?" Tabitha smiled looking up at him as he lay on top of her."You have no idea," Jughead whispered as he leaned down and kissed her once again. "You're so beautiful," he murmured against her lips, leaning in to kiss her again. She closed her eyes, feeling the love and connection that she had missed the months they had been apart. "I could look at you like this all night," he continued, moving his hands across her body, her own hands making their way through his hair. He held her close, their bodies pressed together, and their breaths grew deeper as they continued to enjoy their moment as the night grew later. LaterThe soft glow of the bedside lamp bathed the room in a warm, intimate light as Jughead and Tabitha lay side by side in the cosy bed. The only sounds they could hear were the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze and the occasional distant chirping of crickets. It was a perfect setting for a quiet, late-night conversation. They talked for a while Jughead talked about his time in the 50s and how he had been writing comics, he also asked her about her time away and how she fixed the timelines. After a while, they lay in silence still embraced in each other's arms. For the first time in a while, Tabitha felt at peace. She was with the one person who had been on her mind for months while she was away fixing the timelines. Her head leaned against his chest while she held one of his hands. While the moment was perfect her mind would occasionally trail off. She would think about her other friends and what their choices would be. She thought about how so much was about to change for them and how they might never see them again."What are you thinking about?" Jughead asked softly while he played with a few strands of her hair."Just thinking about everything that has happened recently," She replied. "How complicated it all got,""Yeah, but pretty soon we'll be back home and our lives will be okay again. Everything will be okay" Jughead reassured her.“What do you think the others will choose?” Tabitha asked as she shifted closer to Jughead and she she did his arms wrapped around her holding her as close to him as he could.“I don’t know… I think we’ll maybe get a mix." Jughead paused for a moment thinking about what to say "I think at least a few of them will have a reason to stay here since their lives have changed so much,” Jughead replied as he stoked her arm slowly. "Some may stay here so they can be with people that they care about here.""If they do choose to stay here then we'll never see them again, they'll never see us, I mean those who stay... some of them may be dead when we go home," Tabitha frowned."It will be their choice, they will have gotten to live a lifetime here," Jughead said trying to comfort her.“I suppose it’s partly my fault. All of this,” Tabitha said as she leaned into Jughead's chest even more hiding her face.“Hey!" Jughead said lifting himself up also making Tabitha lift herself up as well to face him. He brought his hand to her face moving her hair back. She looked into his eyes as he stroked her hair “None of this is your fault. We would all be dead if it wasn't for you. You saved us. You protected us. You worked so hard to save the world for us. You risked your life time and time again for us. I can’t think of a single person who would do that other than you,” Jughead noticed a tear fall from her eye as he spoke and wiped it away with his thumb. “We owe you so much and we could never thank you enough for what you’ve done for us. I mean honestly, I think you deserve a statue. Maybe we should get you one when we get back home” Jughead laughed. As did Tabitha through her tears.“I don’t think I want a statue” Tabitha cringed. “Besides no one else in Riverdale will remember this, well except us and once I do send everyone back, I will lose my powers forever.”“Wait really?” Jughead asked almost sounding worried.“Yeah. No more time travelling or being an angel… I’ll just be me again. Plain old human.”“Tabs you and I both know that you have always been an angel even before you got your powers. The love and compassion that you have, that you’ve always given. The way you help people no matter what,” Jughead spoke softly fiddling with her wavy hair that hung over her shoulders. Tabitha blushed at his comment as she fixed her eyes on his. "You're one of the most amazing and bravest people I have ever met and I can't believe how lucky I am to be here with you, to be apart of your life.""There isn't anyone else I'd rather be with Jug. Just you." Jughead smiled still stoking her hair. "You know, since getting my memories back I keep thinking about the future we saw together.""You have?" Tabitha smiled."Yeah and how I can't wait for it to happen. How I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to help you franchise Pops, have a family together, and grow old," Jughead gave a little chuckle. I want that more than anything." "I want that to Jug. I want nothing more than to be with you. To have that life with you, every part of it.""I love you, Tabitha. more than anything," His hand moved slowly finding its way to her cheek."I love you too Jug," and with her reply, Jughead leaned in and kissed her once more. As they pulled away, she stayed silent thinking about how perfect this moment was. How peaceful and safe she finally felt back beside the man she loved while taking a deep breath of relief. She looked into his eyes picturing their future together. Thinking about how everything will be okay.“You, okay?” Jughead asked noticing her sudden silence.A smile stretched across her face again as she snapped out of her thoughts. She gave him a small nod of reassurance. “Yeah. Yeah, I'm great,” she said as she leaned back against his chest allowing him to wrap his arm back around her. He held her tight not ever wanting to let her go. “Everything is perfect,” She whispered to him as she closed her eyes feeling a little tired and slowly began drifting off to sleep.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Once again everyone would gather together. Only this time it was at Pop's Diner. It was early morning on Saturday, so the diner was empty. Tabitha and Jughead were the first to arrive taking a seat in their favourite booth. The one where they had lived out their lives together. Only a few minutes would pass by before Betty and Archie arrived in the diner. They looked down at the far end and saw Jughead and Tabitha sitting next to each other talking and laughing and decided to go and join them."Hey guys," Archie said waving as he sat opposite Jughead. "Mind if we join you?""Hey," Tabitha smiled at them "Sure go ahead," she gestured to the seats opposite them. "Are you guys okay?" She asked."We're Okay. What about you?" Betty smiled as she sat opposite Tabitha."Yeah we're okay, we're just enjoying our morning together," Tabitha said as she glanced over at Jughead who was also looking at her smiling."What have you guys been up to?" Jughead asked turning his head slowly to face them." Oh we just went on a small walk and decided to stop here for some breakfast," Archie smiled.Betty nodded at Archie and then turned her attention back to Tabitha "I hope you've been resting Tabitha. After everything you have done to save us, you must be tired," Betty smiled while reaching her hand out to her."Oh I have been. Thank you for asking," Tabitha smiled while also reaching out her hand and holding it gently."That's good" she smiled."I think we all owe you a huge thank you, Tabitha, for saving us," Archie said."Oh it's fine. Couldn't let my friends die now could I," Tabitha laughed. "So, I can safely assume that you two are back together?" Tabitha asked as she smirked."We are," Betty smiled leaning against Archie. "And we couldn't be happier.""I'm glad," She replied."It's pretty obvious that you too are as well," Betty raised her eyebrow."Yeah," Jughead said smiling while turning to face Tabitha as she did the same. "Thankfully we found each other again," he said grabbing her free hand from under the table."Well, everyone else will probably be here soon," Tabitha said. "But I suppose It's still a little early though so we could be waiting for a while,""Well in that case let's order some breakfast together," Jughead said as he grinned. "I'm starving.""You're always starving, I mean you just think about food 24/7 don't you Jug," Archie laughed while shaking his head."Hey I can't help it if I'm hungry," Jughead said defensively."Well, I could definitely eat something. And It's been a while since I had food from Pop's," Tabitha chuckled."Yeah me too," Betty said. "I'm craving pancakes.""Huh, so I guess this could be our first official double date," Archie laughed."I'm surprised we never did it before," Jughead added."To be fair we were spending a lot of time fighting to save Riverdale," Tabitha laughed."Well then, there's no time like the present, pun not intended," Betty smiled. The four of them spent the morning eating their breakfasts filling up on pancakes and coffee while they enjoyed each other's company talking about moments from the present.Jughead placed his fork down after being the first to finish his breakfast, he looked across at Betty and Archie "So, have you guys decided what you want to do?" He asked."You mean whether or not we want to stay here or go back home?" Betty asked looking up from her plate and tilting her head giving him a half smile.Yeah," he said nodding. "Or are you gonna tell us later?" he gave a small laugh.Betty glanced over at Archie for a moment who smiled nodding his head at her "We might as well tell them," he smiled. Her gaze shifted back to both Jughead and Tabitha as she smiled at them, "We have decided to come back home to our timeline, it's the right thing for us and what we both want," she said."Well then, I guess that means we can probably go on more double dates then," Tabitha smiled."Yeah that sounds good, and we have some unfinished business back home that we want to do there." she blushed."What unfinished business?" Tabitha asked raising her eyebrow and tilting her head."Well," Archie chuckled slightly "The night of the comet we kind of got engaged.""you did?" Both Jughead and Tabitha said at the same time. Both Archie and Betty nodded holding hands under the table. "That's amazing guys, I'm so happy for you," Tabitha smiled."Congratulations," Jughead said equally happy for them."Thanks Jug," Betty smiled.Once they had finished their meal, It wasn’t long before they watched everyone else enter the diner. Both friends from their timelines and ones from this one who all gathered in booths near to each other. Once everyone had arrived and was seated in the booths, they waited eyes glancing at one another for someone to make the first move. For the right moment to speak for themselves and explain each of their own decisions.“Well, I suppose I’ll go first” Jughead began as he stood up holding onto Tabitha’s hand. I have decided to go back home” Jughead said as he lowered his head towards Tabitha. It's where I want to be and where my future is and a future I can’t wait to have with the person that I love”. As Jughead spoke he looked down at her she smiled right back at him not caring at the fact everyone was watching them with smirked faces. Jughead sat back down and wrapped his arm around her as she leaned into his shoulder.“I guess it’s our turn to go next go next” Archie began as he scanned the room. He stood up from the booth and Betty followed him. “We have also decided to go back home. The both of us… together” Archie said keeping a hold of Betty’s hand.“It’s where we belong and where we want to continue our lives”. Betty smiled as she spoke. “Where we believe our future will be beautiful and full of light, continuing right from the moment we left off.”A moment of silence passes before someone speaks. “Who wants to go next?” Tabitha asked softly looking at everyone who was left to speak. Cheryl, Toni, Veronica, Reggie, Fangs and Kevin. Who all gave glances at each other from across their booths.“I’ll go” Veronica spoke as she stood. “After much consideration and evaluation… I have decided to… keep living here”. She said as she turned her head towards Betty. “I feel as if my life could be different here like I could make something of myself here. Something meaningful. I've realised I'm happy here. Back home I didn't have much but maybe... maybe It will be different here” Betty looked at Veronica with her eyes beginning to become cloudy. “Oh, Bee don’t cry or else I’m gonna cry and I’d rather not mess up my make-up" Veronica joked trying to lighten the mood. "But fear not Our day is not over yet” Veronica laughed attempting to hide her sadness. All Betty could do was nod and put on a brave face as she gave a half smile holding onto Archie. saying goodbye to her best friend wasn't going to be easy, knowing that she may never see her again broke her heart a little.Next Kevin decided to take his turn to tell everyone what he had chosen to do. He was sat beside Clay and opposite Cheryl and Toni. “I have also decided to stay here,” Kevin said leaning on Clay’s shoulder. "Honestly, back home I never felt at home anyway. I never really found where I belong. I never really had anything to look forward to... but here I think I finally found happiness, someone to love, to have a future where I can be happy,” he said as he turned to Clay. “I truly believe I am better off here”. He smiled.“Well on that note,” Cheryl began lifting her head high “Toni and I naturally have decided to return to the little place we call home. Together. As it always should be”. Cheryl said as she leaned her head on Toni. Toni smiled as she shifted as close as possible next to Cheryl hand in hand.“It’s where we want to be. Where we will always be together always”. Toni said as she kissed Cheryl’s head raising our little family.Next was Reggie’s turn. He looked around at his friends and then his attention turned towards Archie. His best friend who became somewhat like a brother to him. He knew this was a difficult decision but deep down he knew he was making the right choice. “I have decided to stay here. As much as I appreciate what I had in our original time, I'm not sure running a gambling business is the right path for me anymore. And with my recent offer, I really think my future here could be bright. Who knows I may become a basketball star one day and maybe even become a coach one day. Carry a legacy” Reggie grinned still looking at Archie.“Oh Reg!" Archie frowned suddenly remembering their conversation from yesterday before they had their memories restored.. "I completely forgot. I promised I would help you on your parent's farm” “Don’t sweat it, Andrews. I’m sure I’ll figure it out” Reggie reassured Archie smiling.“I’m sure I can find some way to help you Reginald for old-time sake,” Veronica said smiling at Reggie who was sitting opposite her.“Thanks, Ronnie,” Reggie nodded his head returning her smile."Of course," Veronica smiled. "I mean we will still be going to high school together so what are friends for," Veronica smiled.“I guess that leaves me… and I am also choosing to stay here, in this timeline,” Fangs spoke as he looked across the Diner. I have Midge and my child with her to stay for and I love her, and I won’t abandon her, and I seem to have a good career and future in store”. Fangs then glanced over at Toni knowing what he would be abandoning. “Toni I’m sorry I know I will be leaving Antony, but I know that you will take good care of him. As will you Cheryl,” Fangs smiled.“Naturally,” Cheryl smiled proudly flicking a section of her hair back behind her shoulder.“But promise me you will tell him about me,” Fangs gave a small sad smile. “So, he knows who I was,”“Of course, Fangs. I promise,” Toni smiled back at him.And with that, everyone had spoken. Everyone had decided on their fates and what they wanted for their future. Now came the hard part. Having to say goodbye. Knowing this would be the last day they would all be together because tonight they would be separated into two groups and into two different timeliness forever.“Wow this is erm… this really happening…isn’t it,” Betty said, “This is the last time all of us will be together” She looked around at all her friends thinking about everything they had been through.“Yeah. I mean we have all been through so much together, I mean most of us became friends through all of our trials”. Jughead continued." Videotapes, serial killers, boring games, somehow even superpowers came into our lives," Archie chuckled."It's almost too hard to believe, that time would be the thing to separate us," Veronica said looking down at her lap.“Well if this is really the last time all of us will be together in the same timeline, then I say we make the most of it. Making one last memory together before we part”. Archie said, “And I can’t think of a better place to be together than right here in Pops Diner”. Everyone nodded in agreement beginning to cheer up slightly and got themselves ready for their last day together.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Laughter filled the diner as they all reminisced about their shared memories, from previous lives they had lived in the present and ones they made here now. This gathering was a chance to reconnect for the last time. To remind themselves of the deep bond that had formed over the years. All their joys, all their pains and sorrows. Through their heartbreaks and comforts, all the memories that connected them and made them friends in the first place. Every single one of them was important and made them the people they are today. Their day was filled with music, dancing, games and emotional conversations which they would always remember after today. When their meals arrived, the gang dug into delicious plates of burgers, fries, and onion rings, savouring each bite and of course, every meal was complete in Pops Diner with its iconic and signature item on the menu. A milkshake in which the sounds of glasses clashing together, echo into the room.Hours flew by faster than expected and as the evening sun began to set down, casting a warm orange and pink glow over the diner, the friends realized that the time to part ways was nearing by the minute. The moment they knew would come but feared the most. When the time came, they all decided to step outside as the sunset was nearing its end. The sky cast a warm, golden glow over the quiet parking lot setting the moment to be beautiful even though the moment itself was a sad one. but even still it was giving hope to the gang that their lives would be okay even if some of them would never see one another again.Betty, Veronica, Tabitha, Toni, and Cheryl all stood together in a circle, eyes all misty. Holding back tears knowing that this was the end. “Well, girls I can honestly say that it has been an honour and a privilege being one of your girl pals,” Veronica standing tall with her head held high. She looked around at all the girls smiling through her misty eyes trying hard as ever to contain her emotions from spilling. "I love you all so much and I'm truly going to miss you," she said her voice slightly breaking.“Oh Vee… What are we gonna do without you” Betty said smiling through her tears.“You are going to live your best life, Betty Cooper. You all are. You are all going to be happy and thrive in your dreams. As will I and when you return to the future, I guarantee you will hear the most amazing tails of Veronica Lodge.“We will, and you’re going to be amazing too Veronica,” Tabitha said smiling through her sadness.“Thank you, Tabitha. For everything. For your kindness, your friendship and love, for your encouraging words back then, for saving us all now, for this… For being my friend,” Veronica said as she walked forward hugging Tabitha and holding her tight. “I’m gonna miss you... so much,” Veronica spoke as she smiled through a tear.“I’m going to miss you too” Tabitha returned her smile. "And thank you.""Promise me you'll franchise Pops across the country," Veronica said. "It would be a huge shame for the world to miss out on such an amazing place." she chuckled tears still falling down her cheek.Tabitha nodded "I promise, it will be the first thing I do," she smiled as she gave her one last hug.Veronica nodded her head and then turned to face Toni “Well Toni we certainly had some fun times,”“Yeah, we did,” Toni smiled as she hugged Veronica. “I wish you luck Veronica,” Toni said as she released her grip.“You too. And I'm glad you and Cheryl found your way back together,” Veronica smiled as both she and Toni glances shifted to CherylVeronica then shifted over to Cheryl who had just wiped a tear. “Cheryl Blossom, it has been an honour, being your friend,”“That it has,” Cheryl replied giving a proud smile.“I shall always treasure the memories of our epic dance-off, being business partners and fellow vixens. Veronica spoke while she embraced Cheryl. When Veronica realised her, she knew what was coming next. She turned her whole body around to face her best friend Betty Cooper who was smiling sadly. The rest of the girls decided to give them a moment knowing this goodbye would be the hardest one of all.“I guess this is really goodbye Vee,” Betty said struggling to hold back her tears as her eyes began to water.“Oh Bee, we had a good run," Veronica said as she grabbed her hands."I just can't believe this is really happening," she whispered, as her voice was quivering as her hands fidgeted with her dress.Veronica nodded, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I know, Bee. It's hard to believe”.They stood in silence for a moment, the weight of the moment pressing on them. The sounds of the other's conversations fade into the background as they cling to the precious seconds they had left together. They hugged tightly as if trying to absorb each other's essence. The familiar scent of Veronica’s perfume, the warmth of her embrace, and the sound of her heartbeat against Betty’s chest were imprinted in her memory."I'm going to miss you so much, Bee," Veronica whispered, her voice breaking. She held her even closer, her own tears now flowing freely."I'll miss you too, Vee. More than words can say." Betty smiled through her tears.Reluctantly, they pulled away from each other, their hands still intertwined. Betty could see the pain in Veronica's eyes, mirrored by the tears streaming down her cheeks. She reached out to wipe away a tear from Veronica's cheek, and Veronica did the same for Betty. With one final, lingering look, they turned and walked in opposite directions. Veronica heading to say her goodbyes to the others and Betty making her way back to Archie who was saying goodbye to Reggie who was also on the verge of breaking down to tears. Each step took them farther from the friend who had been their constant companion, confidante, and partner in adventures for so many years.“Don’t ever stop playing basketball, okay Reg, I just know you’re gonna be one of the best out there?” Archie said as he stood opposite Reggie.“Thanks, Bro. For everything”. Reggie said struggling to hold back his tears. “I’m gonna miss you, bro,”“Yeah, I’m gonna miss you too Reg. It was fun having a brother smiling”.“Brothers for life,” Reggie said as he held out his hand.“Brothers for life” Archie repeated as he took Reggie's hand and pulled him into an embrace holding on tight to him as he began to let his tears fall down his cheek. The group spent their last moments nodding, unable to speak as their own emotions threatened to overwhelm them. They exchanged heartfelt hugs and shared inside jokes about all their adventures one last time. For their final moment, they stood in a circle, hand in hand, their shared memories and tears echoing in silence. It was a bond that had been forged over years of friendship, love, trauma, and support, and now it was being tested by the unfortunate hand of circumstance. When the time finally came Veronica, Reggie, Kevin, Fangs, Clay, Dilton and Jason all returned inside the diner and watched out the window as all their friends waved across the parking lot as a bright white light glistened surrounding them and the rest of the town as they watched them fade away along with the rest of the town and the people who belonged back home. As they faded away with tears in their eyes, they knew that the memories they had created together would stay with them always. In the years that followed, they would keep remembering holding on to all the adventures they experienced. But for their lives here they would find new friends, experience new adventures, and create families and lifestyles that ensured their happiness.
