When Alma first told her two younger siblings and her future sister-in-law that she'd found the one for her, they'd been skeptical.
Because their older hermana was twenty and loved too hard and they didn't want her hurt—not when she was all they had and had such a big heart.
And she likely
would
get hurt because she had so many big (reasonable but big) expectations that most people their age wouldn't take seriously.
And yeah, sure, being skeptical of Pedro and Alma's relationship might make Raimi hypocritical given his own age and relationship, but he couldn't help it.
Because his hermana had already sacrificed so much for him and Catalina in the five years that had passed since their parents died, and they didn't want her to sacrifice anymore than she had to.
They didn't want her to end up heartbroken and hopeless.
The fact that Raimi's own partner, Alejandra, was also skeptical didn't calm the pair's nerves in the slightest.
They were nervous and scared and skeptical and already prepared to have to pick up the pieces of their sister's broken heart over a bruja boy. Only for said bruja boy to come swooping in with the sweetest smile, asking about their interests and their days as he set down a basket of slightly burnt arepas that he made himself.
Surprising them in more ways than one as he made Alma laugh and smile in ways she hadn't been able to do since their parents died. Seemingly de-aging and de-stressing her with every poetic word one minute and rambling about whatever story he'd been cooking up at the moment.
All the while fussing over the cut Alma had gotten on her hand minutes before he'd even arrived and offering to bandage it up for her.
Needless to say, Raimi, Catalina, and even Alejandra were no longer skeptical of him and his good intentions by the end of the night. So much so that they all even became friends with him afterwards and stopped referring to him as the 'bruja boy' in their heads. Certain now that he was indeed
the one
who their hermana and that he wouldn't let her down.
Because how could a man as sweet, funny, and creative as Pedro ever let anyone down?
