It was the day of the royal wedding. It was such a long awaited day for many after the official engagement was announced months ago.Anubis himself wasn't among those numbers, or at least not for the same reasons as everyone else. After Set's attempted coup and the truth of His Majesty's birth, it was needless to say there was much unrest in the Kingdom. It took time to subdue the sorting squads and those who had sided with Set. Regarding Lady Sariphi, there was still some pushback against her for one reason or another, especially with the wedding. They were also deep in their talks with Yoana. That's to say nothing of everything they still had to deal with on a daily basis.Suffice to say, the royal palace was extremely busy.Anubis stood with Jormungand behind His Majesty as he gazed out the window. It was a day His Majesty was looking forward to for quite some time, a fact that was obvious to even the untrained eye."Tomorrow, our second meeting with Yoana will proceed as planned. Forgive me for rushing you, Sire, but please prepare immediately after the ceremony." Anubis reminded as the last piece of information he had before the ceremony.Anyone in the palace would think his apology was insincere and merely for the sake of it, but he truly meant it. While Anubis still had his reservations regarding Lady Sariphi, he couldn't deny that His Majesty was truly happy. That was something he wouldn't want to take away from him."I understand. This is the most vital time. Even newlyweds must attend to serious matters." His Majesty replied in such a fashion he expected. While Anubis knew quite well that the chances of His Majesty being able to rest were rather slim, there was the hope he would be more relaxed even. As infuriating as he found the hum-Lady Sariphi, she was able to bring peace to His Majesty that it still baffled him how she did it.At the moment though, she was still getting ready so she could not aid him.It was his task at the moment, one he was happy to do. "Have no fear, Sire.""We will devote our hearts and souls to Your Majesty more than ever before." Jor chimed in.Ever since they were young, they both pledged their lives and loyalty to His Majesty, something neither wavered on no matter what. While Anubis may not have always agreed with His Majesty, he would always stand by him for as long as he could. A sentiment he knew Jor shared.Sire turned to face both of them, he wasn't quite smiling but it wasn't his usual stone face he put on for the public. "That is fine. However, we must not presume on you forever. We would like you to treasure your beloveds as well.""Sire?" Anubis choked out, utterly surprised by His Majesty's words. Jor made a startled noise next to him, clear he wasn't alone in his befuddlement. Now, Anubis did understand where the sentiment was from. After all this time, His Majesty was happy with someone he loved, a feat that seemed impossible. It made sense that since he was happy, he wanted those close to him to be happy like he was.It was unlikely though. "I have no one who fits such a description, so…"With all the time he spent on affairs of the state and his duties with no intention of deterring, it was unlikely he would meet anyone. Not unless they came to the palace or he ended up encountering them while on duty. Regardless, he wasn't intending to find anyone so the chances truly were zero of him meeting anyone. Even brushing that aside, all of his time was devoted to aiding His Majesty that to even ponder such was unlikely.A situation he and Jor shared. At least, that's what he was sure of.The captain said nothing, causing Anubis to turn to look at him, surprised he hadn't said anything."Ahem!" Jor cleared his throat, turning away from him."Your Majesty." The Priest spoke up, all turning to face him. "Lady Sariphi is ready."Everyone bowed to His Majesty as he left to go now that his bride was ready."Come, I will escort you to your seat, Abi." Jor offered, walking away without waiting for a response.Anubis walked with the Captain, eyeing him suspiciously. In all the time he's known the Snakeskin knight, he's only ever been concerned with his duties as a soldier, protecting His Majesty and the people. It was Anubis himself who was there when he pledged his life and sword in service of His Majesty. He allowed himself very little time for leisure, training physically or mentally. He had also turned down several marriage proposals he received throughout the years, which didn't surprise him.Now wasn't the time to ask about it though. They had a wedding to oversee and ensure it all went as it should. After that, they had to finalize preparations for the talks among other things. There was too much to do now.Though, Anubis kept it in the back of his head to question Jor later about it. It was far too odd of a thing to leave alone. Even if he found nothing, he couldn't just leave it be. His interest was piqued.
