Work Text
Aziraphale
Mother says you have to drive me to the library???
False
Lies
Nothing but liesAziraphale
Mother says you do???
My mothers are next to me
And they have confirmed that they did not in fact say anything like that Aziraphale groaned. Right. Just what he needed. He had accidentally put the wrong number in for his brother. Aziraphale
I think I may have the wrong number???
Really? I never would have guessed Aziraphale laughed before putting in his brother's number and sending him the text, which had been meant for him in the first place. Aziraphale
Mother says you have to drive me to the libraryGabriel
🙄
in front of the house in 10 min
if you aren't there in 20 secs ill tell mom you weren't there Aziraphale sent a thumbs-up back. Quickly he grabbed his messenger bag, threw the books that he needed to return and the book he was reading in it and stepped out to wait. He knew his brother and he knew that he really would leave if he wasn't there. He read until Gabriel turned up in front of the house. Then he scrambled up and into the front seat before his brother could take off without him.“Seatbelt,” Gabriel said before taking off once more.Aziraphale tutted as he fastened his seatbelt. As Aziraphale was taking his book out, his phone vibrated in his pocket. Curious to see who it was he opened his messages. It was the unknown number that he’d texted accidentally. ???
So you find the right number? Aziraphale smiled down at his phone before replying. Azirapahle
Yes.
I apologise for the inconvenience.
I’ve just gotten a new phone and got a few numbers wrong when putting in my brother's number???
How old are you???Aziraphale
17???
And you talk like that??
I’m 17 and ive never heard someone my age talk like thatAziraphale
I am not sure what you are implying but I am actually 17???
Alright
Just checking that you aren’t a 40 yr old creepAziraphale
I am not a creep
And I am 17 years old
???
Whatever you say creep
Aziraphale laughed at his phone once more and ignored the glance he got from Gabriel.
Aziraphale
You can call me whatever you want but I don’t even know your name
You could be some creep yourself
???
Crowley
And I’m not a creep
Plus I don’t know your name either
Aziraphale
My name is Aziraphale
Another message pinged in but Aziraphale didn’t have time to read or reply to it because they had arrived at the library.
“Who have you been texting this whole time?” Gabriel asked.
“Huh?” Aziraphale asked as he unfastened his seatbelt.
“You’ve been staring at your phone with a lovey-dovey smile this whole time. Who’ve you been texting?”
Aziraphale flushed red. He hadn’t been ‘staring at his phone with a lovey-dovey smile’ had he? Oh god, he had hadn’t he? He didn’t even know this boy and he was already acting like he had a crush.
“No one,” Aziraphale said quickly, closing the door and walking briskly up the stairs to the door.
Once he found an empty table he put his things on the chair. He picked up the books he needed to return and went to do that.
As he browsed for some new books to borrow he pulled his phone out of his pocket and checked his messages.
Crowley
You said you were going to a library
Do you have any recommendations?
My friend Ana dragged me with her and now she’s looking for witchy books and I’m bored
Aziraphale
What kind of book were you thinking
Old or new? Slow or fast-paced? Long or short?
Crowley
God
That’s a lot of questions
Probably new and fast-paced
And something short though I can read something longer if needed
In that case it’s fine if it’s long
Aziraphale
I think you’d like the Magnus Chase books, though they aren’t very short
The Author is Rick Riordan
I also think you’d like Percy Jackson
But Magnus Chase seems more your cup of tea
What with the swearing
Crowley
Oh fuck off
I don’t swear that much
But what section would I find that book in?
Aziraphale looked around himself to find what section it was in.
Aziraphale
Young Adult Fantasy
Under ‘R’
Unfortunately, I cannot help you further since I am at a different library
Crowley
Thanks
Gimme a sec to find this book
Aziraphale was looking at some other books in the Young Adult section when he remembered he had forgotten to tell Crowley a key factor of the book. It was the first of three books. And more, if you wanted to be technical.
Aziraphale
It is a trilogy by the way
Aziraphale heard someone scoff beside him. He glanced at who it was. He was left speechless. The boy was around his age and absolutely gorgeous. He had long hair that was in a sort of half-up, half-down hairdo. He wore black jeans that were basically painted on and, from what Aziraphale could see, his shirt had at least the first two buttons open.
The boy happened to be scoffing at his phone.
It took Aziraphale a few moments to notice that his own messages were on the screen. And the name was ‘Aziraphale’.
Was this Crowley?
God. It couldn’t be, could it? That would be a big coincidence. He had to try something.
Aziraphale
Look up.
The boy scoffed at his phone once more and crouched down by the ‘R’ section.
Crowley
Good try
Aziraphale
I am being serious
Look up
To the left
The boy looked at his phone confusedly and then looked up to his left. Right at Azirpahle.
“Aziraphale?” he asked, dumbfounded. His cheeks were red and he just barely stuttered the words out.
“Crowley,” Aziraphale said. He wasn’t in much better shape, his cheeks red and his breath caught in his throat.
Well, this sure was a coincidence.
