“Chise? Is that you?”Large Green eyes widen taking in the sight before her. Face a bit more wrinkled then the last time she saw him but she would know those grey eyes anywhere.“D-dad?”“It is you!” the man -Yuki Hatori- smiled “Its been so long, Never would have expected you to be in england of all places.”In what felt like a flash the mage ended up on a patio at a small cafe, Her father sitting across from her, talking as if they were old friends meeting for coffee and not a man talking to his daughter who he hadn’t seen in decades, “So what brought you all the way out here? I would have thought you would still be in Japan.”Chise didn’t know what to say. The man who abandoned her. The man who took her little brother with him and left her to fend for -Protect- herself.“Chise are you okay?’ Ruth, her ever loving familiar, whined pressing his snout into her hand. The redhead mage took a breath petting his head as she composed herself.“Uh ya I live here now. Have for a few years.”“Oh wow you do? You brother Fumiki, you remember him right? Well he just graduated so I decided to take him on a trip to celebrate. Never would have imagined running into you here.” The man laughed, Laughed like he hadn’t left her, Hadnt abandoned her “How's your mother?”Ruth growled, Chise felt like she had been slapped, does he not know? How could he not know!” “My mother?” Disbelief colored Chise’s voice as she stared at the man in front of her. Setting her cup of tea down, “What do you mean, how's my mother?”.Yuki sipped his coffee “Exactly that.” he smiled “I haven't heard from her in quite a while I assumed she had gotten better. Made a life for herself.”Chise felt a laugh bubble from her throat harsh and slightly hysterical,- Ruth nudged her hand again slightly giving her comfort- Unable to really believe this was happening. Why now? What purpose did this serve? She should have just ran the moment she saw him. Gathering her strength she told him plainly, “She’s dead.”Grey eyes widened at her admission sputtering into his coffee, Chise had to squash down the bit of joy she felt as the man fumbled with what to say.“Look I’m happy for you, I’m happy you and Fumiki are doing well and that you have a new life and a new family. But I will never forgive you or want you back in my life after you abandoned me like you did.” Chise took a deep breath pushing back her hesitance “After you left do you want to know what mom did? She tried to kill me and when that didn’t work she killed herself. So not only was I abandoned by one parent but the other one decided I wasn't worth it either.” You promised to protect me and you didn’t. Instead you fled like the coward you are.”“I have a good life now, In the world you ran from actually. I married someone who loves me and stays with me through all the challenges life throws at us. I'm a renowned mage who teaches at a collage. I have met so many amazing people who decided to stay with me through the ups and the downs. Something you never did”. Chise stood grabbing her coat off the back of her chair, Ruth stretching as he stood “Now I wont say that I’m happy to see you, I’m glad you're doing well but I don't ever wish to see you again. Have a good life.”With that Chise walked out not looking back once. As soon as she knew the Cafe was out of sight the redhead ducked into an alley leaning against the wall. Ruth transformed, watching her silently as she collected herself. “Are you okay?”Giving a small smile to her familiar she nodded “I will be.” pushing off the wall she continued back out to the street “Let's go home.”
