There was panic and the mutants were either trying to flee or fight back, but there were too many. "Get out of here you scumbags!" cursed a man with a shotgun, pointing it at a young boy. "Why did you have to come back?" screamed a woman. "Run away!" screamed a mutant woman with the ability to manipulate water. She created a protective wave and gave her friends enough time. "Into the tunnels quickly" yelled a teenager. "Samuel wait! We'd be trapped!" said a wolf-eyed girl, Rhane. "What are we going to do?" asked Roberto, wincing as shots were fired. Out of pure instinct, Rhane howled. Shortly after, a loud noise was heard. "Angel help us!" screamed a mutant with snow-white skin. A young woman with large white wings flew toward the group of people and attacked with the wind. "You monster!" aimed the man with the shotgun and Angel grabbed the shotgun with her bird legs. I eyes bulged blue and the man held his head. ~Run! Hide!~ she transmitted in her mind and helped a mutant up. They ran while Angel dominated the thoughts of the attackers. She let them fall asleep and flew after them.In their new hiding place the extent of the attack became visible. They were to begin 50. women, men and small children. Even babies. Now they were down to 20, barely children and no babies. "They just attacked us backwards" said Roberto a mutant with fire powers shocked. "We didn't even know they were there" Rhane began to cry and Angel took her in his arms. ~We should rest. Recharge our batteries and move on tomorrow~ she conveyed, shaking her wings. Played some more with the children and other mutants used their abilities to cheer the others up.~The Next Morning~
The mutants got ready to leave and were about to follow Kiri when helicopters appeared overhead. "This is the GRC, Global Repatriation Council. You are trespassing and are therefore under arrest. Any act of aggression will be stopped by force of arms" came from a loudspeaker. No one knew who it was and both the mutants and a few soldiers were shocked when the first shot rang out, hitting a young boy. "Cease fire! Cease fire!" heard Angel dully and saw the boy losing more and more blood. "Can you save me?" he asked her and she sadly settled down. ~I will~ she let him fall asleep, that he didn't notice his death. She opened her mouth and if she had a voice her scream would have been heard. A large vortex of lightning opened and the mutants and a few soldiers were pulled into it.~In another world outside a city~
A vortex opened and humans and mutants were thrown out. Only slowly did they straighten up. "Where the hell are we?" asked a soldier, looking around in confusion. For a brief moment, there was peace between the parties. "We are in America. But it's different!" said a mutant with sensory abilities. "You fucking freaks! This is your fault!" the mutant was pushed to the ground by a soldier. "You ass," Rhane growled, scratching him. "Angel? He's dead" a mutant with tattoos knelt down to her. "You need to let him go" he said softly. "Hey you freak! This is your fault so fix it" a soldier pulled her up by her hair. "HEY!" a fight broke out and the mutants used their powers. Soon the soldiers were dead or running away, but didn't get far and were burned by Roberto. Angel saw one manage to escape. ~I'm going after him. Find a place to hide, I'll find you~ Angel transmitted to her charges and they nodded. The soldier ran as fast as he could and turned around again and again. He knew that he was being followed and that he was being played with. Something was in his mind. ~Stupid man. Where are you going?~ ~What is he doing?~ ~He's so ugly~ "What do you want from me?!" he yelled, spinning in circles in panic. He instantly kept running as Angel flew at him, almost catching him. He kept running and running, not knowing for how long. Until he tripped and fell down a slope. He rolled down, bumping into trees and rocks every now and then. Deep cuts and abrasions adorned his body and exhausted he remained lying as he fell on a hard surface. "Oh my God! We need help urgently! Call an ambulance!" he heard before he lay dazed. Only slowly did he straighten up.Jordan Pov
"I want peace Courtney. I disbanded the Injustice Society, in return I want the same from you. Only then will I allow your relationship with Cameron" I chatted with Courtney, her family waited a bit away. "It's not that easy. My father died at her hands. I can't just forget that. They almost killed my mother, threatened my friends" she said angrily. "I just want my son to be happy" I replied honestly. "What about your plans?" she asked seriously. "I'm planning to go a different way," I nodded. "Cameron is a good..." I began but was interrupted by a scream. "Oh my god! We need help urgently! Call an ambulance!" someone yelled and stood up tensely. I saw Pat Dugan calling someone and moving towards the crowd."Hey stay down! You are badly hurt" I heard him and something stumbled out of the crowd. It was a soldier and he was badly hurt. I held him as he walked past me. "You need to go to a hospital" "N-no" he immediately shook his head. "S-she...is going to kill me. She's going to kill me" the panicked. "Who, who is going to kill her?" i asked. "It was an order" he began to cry. "Aahhhh!" someone screamed and before I could react the man was snatched from me. Something big flew past me. "Up there! Look!" pointed Mike Dugan upward and I saw a person with white, large wings. It kept flying up and dropping something. I had a hunch it was the soldier. I could not take my eyes off the figure and watched it fly away. Despite the murder, the creature seemed like an angel. "What on earth made you do that?" I asked myself, pulling back. I got Cameron and we drove home. Cameron immediately went to his room and ignored my questions. Ever since he knew about my powers and about the Society, he was furious with me. Wanted to move out to get away from me.
The relationship was very strained and I wished so much that Christin would here. She always knew best what to do.~In the evening~
"I have to go out again" I heard Cameron at the door. "Where are you going? He's already dark" "Paper with Courtney" he shrugged. "Still now?" i asked tensely. "It's only 6:00" he nagged back and opened the door. "It's not safe outside. You were there this afternoon, too. It's still out there somewhere. I don't want anything to happen to you" I closed the door again. "You can't lock me in" he said coldly and opened it again. Sadly I looked after him and closed the door with a sigh when he was out of sight.I tried to distract myself, but I couldn't and I had to get out. Out of the house, away from Christin's room, away from the garden. I went for a walk to switch off. At some point I realized that I was unconsciously walking our favorite path. The path led to a park with a large lake. A large weeping willow was the park's distinguishing feature. "I wish you were a Christian here" I shed a tear as I touched the tree. I had sworn to myself not to cry again so I quickly brushed it away and turned around. In the corner of my eye I saw something scurry by and turned around.Fascinated watched the creature in front of me across the lake. It was a woman with long blond curls and large white wings. Her legs looked like those of birds, one was slightly bent and the other stretched out. She hovered over the lake with her back to me and eyed the full moon. Her wings shone brightly in the moonlight and it seemed like a dream. I wanted to get closer and stepped on something. She had immediately turned around and flew away. "Wait!" I yelled after her and unconsciously activated my powers. I had hit her and she fell. I ran towards her but she was unconscious. "I'm sorry," I said in panic. Hurting her had never been my intention. I took her in my arms and quickly carried her back home. I laid her on the bed and nervously paced the room. "What do I do now?" I asked myself. The risk of her betraying me was too great and, if I was honest, I didn't want to let her go. Without further ado, I got special shackles and tied her up. It will be fine. She won't hate me. Will she?She woke up suddenly and looked around in panic. She realized that she was tied up and tried to free her. "You will only hurt yourself" I addressed her. She stopped instantly and looked at me. Her blue eyes were inscrutable and I felt like she already knew everything about me. "You are safe here I promise. I will take care of you" I smiled lightly. She made herself smaller and wrapped her wings around herself. "I know it's unexpected but you'll understand soon" I assured her "Get some rest. You won't feel the cold soon" I opened the door."Dad? I'm back!" I heard my son and locked the door. "God why is it so cold in here" he complained. "I was worried about you" "Jeez, how could you even hide it" he muttered annoyed and pulled away. I sighed tiredly and laid down. The next morning I waited until Cameron got to school and quickly prepared breakfast. Just before the door, I took one last deep breath in and out. A cold mist appeared in front of my mouth. "Calm down" I reassured myself and opened the door. The bed was empty but I had found her quickly. She pressed herself into a corner and tried to make herself smaller. "I made breakfast" I smiled slightly and walked towards her with the plate. She tried to jump past me and I held her. It was getting freezing and a few feathers froze. "I don't want to hurt you but will if you make me".The next few days went about the same but eventually she was numb enough from the cold for me to touch her. "Cameron? What are you doing?" "D-dad you're home?" "Just got here" I replied."I'm looking for my...my sneakers," he stuttered. "Have you looked in the hallway?" "Uh...not yet. I have to go now too" Cameron was always a bad liar. I pushed him back a little. "What's going on?" I asked seriously. "What's in your room? Why is the door locked?" he got angry. "There's nothing there" He just shook his head angrily. "I'm sleeping at Courtney's tonight. I need space from you" he pushed me away. "Cameron please" I called after him. I walked into the room, taking a little while to get used to the temperature difference myself. "I'm home again" I whispered, stroking her hair. She was shivering and barely unconscious. Only weakly did she lift her head. "Today was a hard day and Cameron seems to hate me more and more" I began to tell her about my day and squared my shoulders. A wing wrapped around me and I had to smile a little. "I'm really sorry" I broke down. "I'll let you go tomorrow. I promise" I promised and lay down across from her. "Can I hold you one last time?" i whispered and let the cold disappear.
One of her wings settled on me and I pulled her closer. She dried my tears and I fell asleep.~The Next Morning~
"This is a JOKE OR?!" someone yelled, jolting me out of my sleep. "C-cameron?" i startled. "You're a fucking MONSTER!" he yelled angrily. "Cameron. It's not what you think" I jumped up, feeling dizzy. "Not what I think!? SHE'S BOTTOMED UP!" he yelled and ran off. "Cameron! Wait! Let me explain" I begged. "I was going to let her go..." "You don't believe that yourself" he went on. "It's a shame. I'm really ashamed to be your son" he slapped me and I fell to the ground in shock. "From now on I am not your son" "Cameron please give me another chance. I can change" I pleaded. "Too late. You're turning me off" he said full of disapproval and ran out of the house.I didn't know how long I sat on the floor crying, but eventually someone hugged me. I pulled myself together and turned to her. "You must be impatient and just want to go" I said calmly and undid her bonds. "I-I...I'll walk you to the door yet" I forced myself to smile. I had already walked a few steps and heard her following me. At the height of the kitchen, something held me in place and it was like I was running into a wall. ~Sit down~ I heard over and over again. "W-what?" shocked, I turned around and saw her eyes light up. ~Sit down~ she took my hand and led me to the dining table. She went back into the kitchen and made some food. "You don't think I'm a monster?" I asked and she shook her head. "You should go. I'm a little possessive" I warned her. ~You shouldn't be alone~ I heard in my thoughts. I ate something and called in sick to the office.I would have preferred to be alone, but I was grateful that she had stayed. Just knowing that she was there helped my grief. It had now been a week and slowly normality prevailed again. We were together in the dining room and the phone rang. I got up to answer it and Angel as I christened her cleared the plates away. "I can bring you some things if you want" "It's ok dad I just wanted to know if anyone was home, that's all" Cameron hung up and I went back into the dining room. I almost got hit with a wing. She's been doing it for a few days now. She was flapping her wings and shaking them. She was trying to hide it, but I could see her pain. Her wings wanted to fly. She wanted to fly. "You can fly if you want to" I said to her. "The weather is perfect for it" I said to her. She smiled softly and gestured for me to follow her. ~Come, come~ "Oh no. Flying is not for me" I said nervously. She flapped her wings vigorously and pushed herself off the ground. Once again she seemed like an angel and flew through the garden. She didn't fly any further than the property line and I felt guilty. Was she perhaps still afraid of me? Was she afraid of being hurt and therefore did everything? Would she worry if I didn't come home in the evening?Tense, I circled my shoulders to release the tension. "You didn't let her go?" I heard sadly behind me. "She's here by choice Cameron. I had sent her away several times but she stayed" I explained to him. "Is she still tied up?" he asked and I shook my head. "You look tired" "I'm not sleeping so well right now" I rubbed my eyes. Angel came flying back and stayed suspended in the air in front of us. "This is Cameron, my...my" I began. "He's my dad" he finished and I swallowed down the toilet. "Are you okay? Did he make you stay here?" he asked her and ashamed I looked down at the floor. "I see" he said after a while and I looked up again. "I...I'd like to live here again if...that's okay?" he asked nervously and I immediately locked eyes with him. "You don't know how happy that makes me right now" I kissed him on the forehead. "This is totally embarrassing" Cameron grumbled. The days turned into weeks and the weeks into months. We were happy again, I was happy again. Cameron had soon accepted her as his mother and we became a couple. I never thought there would be anyone else like Christin who changed me like Angel did. We were all together on the couch and Cameron was watching a movie. Angel's head was on my lap and I was stroking her hair. "She's not a fucking cat. Do it somewhere else please" Cameron complained. "We're not doing anything" I looked at him confused. Angel just smiled and pulled me downstairs. She gave me a kiss and when we disengaged she exhaled cold air. "Go to the bedroom. Please" my son whined and we laughed. "Alright" I smiled innocently and we pulled away. Since that night, all I felt was peace and warmth like I hadn't since Christin.
