Golden sunlight shone through the chapel's window, illuminating Olivia and her soon-to-be husband. Her smile matched the sun’s radiance as she held Sebastian's hands. Arabella stood by Olivia’s side, clutching a small bouquet. The sunlight cast the priest in a warm glow. She felt proud to be chosen as a bridesmaid, prouder still that her mistress had at last found a man worthy of her love. A ring of sunlight created the illusion of a halo around the priest’s head. And Olivia, she had never seen her so happy! And his bright yet somber eyes were so enchanting and she really shouldn’t have such thoughts about a priest, and on her mistress’s wedding no less! Yet her attention turned to him every time he spoke, which was once despite the ordeal lasting a good two hours. But oh…how sweet it was! And the sunlight made his skin glow, and cast a halo around his head. And then the wedding was over, and the sun was gone. So she retreated with her newly-wed master back to their manor, but still the thoughts of that priest did not fade. How sinful….How exciting! But alas! It could not be! He was a priest; his constitution would not falter. Although…there was no harm in trying….She waited until everyone had gone to sleep before she snuck out. It must have been past midnight, but it was hard to exactly tell. The chapel wasn’t far, but she decided to run anyway. It would add to the effect. When she arrived she knocked on the lusciously long doors, and no one answered. She waited about thirty seconds, then began frantically banging on them. One of them opened. She threw herself on the man before her, “Oh father! I have a dreadful confession. A depraved, truly horrid confession! Hear me please, I beg of you!”The priest stumbled back, startled, but quickly regained his composure and nodded. “Of course. Please, come inside.”He gestured into the chapel then bolted the door behind her. He led her to the small confessional.“Please, have a seat.” he smiled. She was all too happy to obey. The priest made his way into his little box, “What troubles you, my child?”Arabella cast her eyes to the floor, “I’m afraid if I tell you God may never forgive me…”“I assure you he will. Our Lord is gracious, but he cannot extend his grace to you if you are not willing to confess. The path to repentance begins when one acknowledges their sins. So please, go on.”She let out a long, exaggerated sigh, “Well, you see, at the wedding someone caught my eye, someone who..shouldn’t have, and I can’t seem to get them out of my mind!”The priest shifted uncomfortably. “Ah…I see. Who might this person be?”She paused for dramatic effect. “The priest.”His eyes widened, “Oh…oh my….”Arabella drew her hand up to her forehead, “Horrible! I know! And the funniest part is after I got home I prayed to God, begging him to give me a solution. And do you know what he told me? ‘If you have such desires you must fulfill them, and only then can you be forgiven.’”The priest slowly inched away from the window, “I think that may have been the devil speaking…”“I thought so too at first! But I felt no evil presence, only goodness radiated from him.”“Well…even so, I simply could not accommodate such a request. It goes against my own principles-”“But are God’s principles not more important than your own?”The priest was quiet for a long moment. “I...suppose so.…”Arabella giggled as she rose from her chair. She turned the corner and stood in front of the priest’s little box, her hand hovering in front of its curtain.“Then..may I come in?”He hesitated, “You may.”She gently pulled back the curtain. The light from the chapel flooded into the little box, casting the priest in a warm glow; a ring appearing around his head like a halo. She hadn’t noticed how young he looked until now. Though he was muscular his features were still soft, he could not have been above nineteen. When she opened the curtain he stood up instinctually. His arms were straight down at his sides, and on one hand he fidgeted with his nails. She couldn’t help but smile. ______________________________________________________________________________ His heart was racing. She was lying, straight lying and he knew that and yet he couldn’t bring himself to turn her away. Why? He never had much interest in romance; too busy with his studies to care, so why now? Why was the Lord testing him so soon? She cocked her head to the side as she studied him. She looked angelic standing there in the candlelight, “So tell me…do you have any prior experience?”He remained stiff, “No ma’am.”She rolled her eyes, “There’s no need for such modesty. You may call me Arabella.”Arabella…what an ironic name. His cold demeanor did not fade, “Yes ma’am.”She rolled her eyes again, and took a step closer. Her hand carefully cupped his cheek. He fought the urge to lean into her touch. Her eyelids drooped as she spoke, “God…you are beautiful for a Catholic.”He felt his heart flutter, “Please do not use the Lord’s name in vain.”She chuckled, “I’m sorry father, I’ll refrain.” Her thumb gently caressed his cheek as she stared into his hazel eyes, “So tell me, do you want this?”God, how could he answer that honestly? “If the Lord himself suggested this as a remedy then I suppose I can go along-”“That’s not what I asked.” Her eyes bore into him with their intensity. “Do you want this?”He seemed to shrink under her gaze. His composure was falling apart. Was one moderately attractive girl all it took for him to come undone? “I…” He let his voice drift off he stared at her, first into her eyes, then moving down to her body. She was a sight to behold, so elegant in her white gown. He wondered what she looked like underneath it. Lord…give me strength. Do not let me succumb to the devil so soon. Her soft curves were so inviting. Without thought he placed a hand awkwardly on her waist. His mind froze. A paralyzing fear tore through him. What was he doing? His hand gently trailed up to her ribs, then back down. That was all he could manage, that light caress. She pulled his face up to meet her gaze. “Hey, it’s okay..What’s the point of getting into heaven if you die a virgin, right?” She spoke softly.“But- I can’t handle heat! I’m a winter guy, I can’t survive anything over 70 degrees, let alone the fires of hell.” His voice was cracking like he had just hit puberty.“Well in that case, this will help you prepare.” Arabella winked at him, Frenchly. She pushed him down into the chair and leaned over him.“Are you not concerned about being sent to hell?!” He asked.“Oh please, I’m already going to hell. I’m French.” She said.He looked confused, then afraid. “Wait….I’M French! Are you saying…” “Yes. We’re both doomed to the eternal pits of hell. So why not give into temptation, just this once?” She said, seductively. He contemplated her words for about two and a half minutes. “You are quiet...alluring.”She bit her lip, “Come ere babygirl” she said. They French kissed :] THE END!!!!!
