it all began with a virus over around 2 years ago to date.
some silly, little experiment on newly discovered creatures' toxins and old elements, combined into concoctions hoping that it would not only provide new medicine, but also money to the greedy rich who'd cap it, sell it off for thousands, knowing people were desperate for their love ones to heal and live.however, unfortunately this experiment was ultimately catastrophic. instead of creating a cure for terminal illness, the chemicals combined and created a horrible virus that instantly plagued the laboratory. it was unstoppable, unknown and deadly, and within a couple of hours had made its escape out of the confinement and into the streets, stopping for no-one, claiming more victims.what was rather peculiar about these victims was how the virus affected them. instead of killing them, it would change them. instead of being human, the virus changed them into something akin to a fictional zombie (like from the games and movies). it was instant, here once humans thrived over nature and animals became a waste land that began deteriorating. buildings began to collapse, dirt and rubbish trashed the streets with a horrible miasma, busy cities even became isolated, deserted, absent of the once thriving human life. and instead, took it's place were these 'zombies' monsters.like the games, they looked disgusting. how the virus took the shell of the once human, slowly eating away at its colour, these creatures were ghastly pale, a sort of sickly green flush, with pure white pupils within the bloodshot eye, mouth and teeth decaying as salvia just dribble down oily skin. they could be fleshy full of fat or boney, borderline underweight, just bones walking the street no longer needing human food to live.grunting instead of words, gnarling, snaring, groaning - it was a horrible ensemble of sounds, ones that could haunt your night and make it absolutely impossible to ever sleep again, poisoned with these horror-movie like sounds. what made it even more eerie, was that without humans the earth had become rather quiet, even a pin drop would make a breath shattering noise (which ultimately would draw the walkers to them).no brain, no soul, no thought. and instead of craving human food, they craved humans themselves.if you weren't affected by the virus, you'd more than likely be a targeted victim of a walker attack. they weren't too fast, but they weren't slow either. and with the lack of food and water, that were safe and not toxic nor out of date, non-virus humans were rather slow themselves, all weak and vulnerable to the walker's hoards.'regardless, that was the lore, ' jin recalled, as he leant against the truck he was seat within to protected himself from the rather cool sunlight. he sat in his darkness, just listening to the faint chirps of the birds and the distant hums of walkers as they patrolled around, just looking for food (and he was that food). seokjin was still human, and by gosh he was perplexed to how come - it wasn't that he was immune of anything, not that he'd know he would rather not risk it, but just fucking lucky.having been out at sea when the virus first made its way through his city and gathering its first victims, so when he had returned with thousands of fish and cute little trinkets from the ocean for his friends he had come to a rather odd surprise. the streets were bare, like dead empty, as in bodies were pilled among thrashed furniture - some had heads missing, some limbs.he felt violently sick then, throwing up in an alleyway unsure what mass murderer had ripped away these innocent lives. but when he had turned the corner, sick still upon his face, he had been greeted by a walker itself - all snarling, blind, hungry. luckily avoiding its bite, he ran, and he ran, and he hide, but fucking hell he ran. just trying to survive.and that's how it had been for these 2 years under captive to this virus' evil. he laid all weak and aching upon this abandoned truck, his bones in agony from countless days of walking through the city, hoping he'd find food that wasn't out of date, hoping there would be water or even another human. i mean, he'd never been a huge social enthusiast, but even a little chat would be nice around now. he had once tried to find his friends, sought them out and plead that they were like him, lucky, but when he had found one it was like all his hope had shattered. for instead of his lovely namjoon, was a grunting zombie.so he kept no luck for the rest, not wanting to go through that heartbreak again.*the glowing hue of the silver night moon had fallen upon the eerie city, as the long shadows reflecting from the skyscrapers grew into the dirty streets below, the sudden chill blew through tall buildings and echoed silent cries from the zombie crowds. jin was seated clothes in a bundle of barely clean blankets (he'd wash them the river earlier than morning), shivering to stay warm. his dinner for the night was corner shop snacks, not the healthiest, but chocolate was full of happy chemicals and fuck him, he wants to be happy.so dinner was chocolate biscuits, beans and stale bread, not to mention a whole bottle of pricy (!! i know right, what a steal) wine. so he guzzled in down, wiping away at the red liquid that escaped his desperate mouth, and let of a hiss of pleasure, just leaning back against the bed he was seated in front of (who cares if he had broken in into someone's house, they're more than likely dead now, or at least walking among the rest of the zombies).just humming softly, sipping wine every few minutes, his eyes glazing over as he looked out of the window to the desolate city below. even if there was no light in the night anymore, no longer beaming from billboards or business boasting out their produce, it still felt so pretty. and optimism was the key to survival.. 'fuck, i'm out.' jin threw the bottle to his side and huddled himself closer to produce heat.his cheeks felt all warm and achey, a red roughness planted upon them for sure. as he felt himself succumb to the exhaustion, letting himself be whisked away to a happy reality within his dreams, all alone, all.... alone.*there was a fresh crispiness when jin stirred in the early morning, easy to tell with how even with his eyes shut, a generous white colour bled into the horrible black. 'another day, another day, " he thanked, opening his eyes and hissing at the shrill light - without humans, pollution was at its all time low, the stars could be seen at night, the sun ever so bright, and the air just felt cleaner. but stretched as a way to get himself up ready for the long day of walking, running, avoiding, hunting.the room was the day, jin admired. the bed was still messy, the floor still full of trash, the zombie in the corner was still here, the smel- jin fucking froze, the sense of alert and fear coursed through his body as he felt paralysed to move. zombie? zombie! there shouldn't be a fucking zombie.he turned his head violently back to the corner, praying he was just seeing things due to an illusion of his fading sanity - but nope, fuck him i guess, his sanity must be perfect, for he wasn't seeing things and that was indeed a rotting corpse staring at him with unblinking eyes. "fuck fuck fuck shit!" jin yelled in surprise, he frantically began to thrash, trying to hurry away from certain death. but ultimately failing.his legs felt like jelly, as he rocked and fell to the floor. but unable to give up, he pushed himself upon it and tried hurling himself towards the window (breaking his legs would definitely be better than being eaten alive, sue him for the truth). his clothes burned his skin as he tried to push himself away from the zombie, but it was futile at this point, and sooner than later he would become the walker's dinner. the pain in his legs only grew, especially a sudden teething ache within his ankle.glancing back with tears welled in his eyes, he watched as the rather built zombie came over - it was slow, walking ever so slow, like it was teasing its prey with a sense of false security. with wide eyes, all bloodshot and gross with those haunting white pupils, its mouth slightly ajar grunting, making soft groaning noises - just before shadowing over the pathetically shaking jin."please!" jin cried out, voice all shaky and raw. he knew he wasn't the prettiest crier, so dying this way felt like an insult, snot all over his face, unable to distinguish between his salty tears and said snot. could zombie's still understand human language, was jin pleading for it to fall upon deaf ears? "puh-please don't eat me!" jin wailed petulantly, but life or death situations make people erratic. the unnervingly quiet zombie obviously didn't reply, only crouching down so now they were face-to-face. "i-i can be of use! i'm a healthy y-young man!"jin looked up and felt sick.
where clearly once laid a pretty face had become slightly tainted. still the walker had pure, wide eyes which were probably once full of life and love, with small and thin perky lips, it had a rather prominent nose that was quite lovely and curved, a small freckle under its purple lips and such unblemished skin for a zombie. and in all of the best, it actually smelt decent (for as decent as you can be as a dead zombie and living in a desolate world)."grnnn."jin closed his eyes tightly, knowing the end was coming."gnrnrnnn?"when was the end coming?"grnnnn nngghh grnn."there was a rough hand gently stroking his cheek, softly as if he was delicate like glass or made of porcelain like a doll. slowly brushing away the wet tears with its thumb, and then brushing through his hair ever so carefully like a lover. gasping for air as if he felt incredulous, jin re-opened his eyes to still see the zombie. but here, instead of gorging him down like the creature and brute that it was, the peculiar zombie only gazed at him with those cautious, weary eyes, and kept petting him like a terrified child - which he might as well be."what the fuc-" his voice dropped, still so numb within his legs, by now he potentially had snapped a bone within his ankle from the sudden awakening. "grnnn nnrn?" the zombie grunted as a supposed question, pulling away as jin suddenly mourned the loss of the 'warmth', zombie or not, he hadn't been touched nor cared in such a long time that he craved it, even if it was from the undead. he side-eyed the creature. even if the undead was acting off."i-i don't understand.." regretfully replying, and the zombie paused for a second. it then lifted its grey finger towards jin's red ankle and groaned again, following the gesture, jin glanced down at his swelling ankle with a hiss. the adrenaline of the appearance of the zombie had killed the pain, but now that he was sobering, fucking hell was it unbearable. "my-my ankle?"and then in some miraculous event, the zombie nodded with a faint smile upon its face. did zombies even smile, how could his one understand him, why was this creature so pretty despite being a monster, so many questions flew through jin's unstable mind, but he knew no answers would come."y-yeah, " jin moaned in pain, trying to sit up but failing. perhaps the floor is better. "i-i think i snapped it when i fell onto the floor." giving a sad look, the zombie placed its cold hands onto the ankle - and though jin teethed at not only the touch of the thing, but also the cold, but just how nice it felt on the throbbing fire."gnnrnn gnnn nrnnr." it pointed to itself then to the ankle. but jin only shook his head lost within translation, and the creature lowered its head disappointed. "um, " jin felt the sudden silence anxiously, afraid to upset the thing incase he became a late breakfast. "i-i'm seokjin, you can call me jin.. oh, no you can't speak, but i am jin." and shit, he was rambling. but the zombie seemed unfazed, in fact lighting up as if he was pleased with the new discovery."grnnn gnrnrnn ggrrn-ggrnn." the little zombie pointed to itself with a happy smile, jin paled unsure.
"your name?" the zombie nodded, "sorry i couldn't understand it." then it frowned.
"grnn grnnn.. grrnnnn grgnnn! juuunnngg.. jungggggrnnn kookkgggg."perking up, jin softly whispered, "jungkook?" and to which the little zombie smiled so brightly that it felt contagious and jin giggled too. " nice to meet you, jungkook.. are you going to eat me?" the zombie looked outlandish and insulted, biting down onto its lower lip and furiously shaking his head, that jin was afraid that his rotting corpse would break."why?"
"grnnnn nggnn."
"oh, yeah, zombie.." jin frowned as he closed his eyes nursing the pain. he then looked around and trying to get a hold of the rather unfortunate/fortunate conundrum he was now situated within - a helpless, weak, vulnerable (such negative words, seokjin) human with a sprained ankle that absolutely hinders his escape in an apocalyptic, zombie infested world.. and a potentially non-human eating zombie who can't speak but looked famished. he was screwed beyond belief."gnn nnr?" jungkook the zombie growled softly, as jin looked back to the grubby boy with a perplexed hum in reply. but he followed the male's oddly clean finger to his ankle and put two and two together, "my ankle?" he suggested, and to his surprise the zombie nodded. bitting his lip, "it'll heal.. but it might take a bit."just then as he finished his sentence, there came a sudden choir of growls and grunts. paling and pleading that it was just jungkook, he felt utterly sick when he came to the revelation, when staring at the close lip zombie, that it was indeed not this zombie but a new gathering hoard outside. and they ought to know that a weak easy dinner was in here: jin."shit.. shit!" jin frantically began heaving, trying to push himself up again dismissing jungkook's clear distaste for that, but ultimately falling back onto his arse, pouting furiously at his hindering ankle. he was going to be someone's dinner! "no no no, i can't!" he manically chanted, becoming erratic as he crawled across the floor like a fool - any sane human knows there is no escape from a large hoard, especially if the human was injured.below them came a loud shatter of glass and wood breaking, a horrible sound that he had heard many times before, in which it froze jin who laid paralysed upon the carpet. his skin ached like fire from the carpet burns, and his ankle was swelling making it impossible to run let alone stand, and now, he'd die, malled to death by hungry walkers.he prayed, begging like he was chanting, that they would ignore his smell, that they couldn't sense him or his blood and cuts. but of course, all that luck he must of had prior was sheer chance, for there came a bang on the bedroom door. then a groan. then a moan. then silence.jin choked back a loud sob, but who cared anymore, they knew he was here so noise meant nothing no more. curling up on himself, his final moments holding himself just like his mother did. when the door started cracking and the wood began to splinter, he began to shake furiously as if he was ill or chilly - memories of his life before the zombie pandemic generally flashed before his eyes, which he gave a sour laugh to, 'suppose people weren't joking when their lives flash before their eyes..'his happy life before this hell - his loving mother and strict but secretly caring father. his older brother who played pranks on him, he even missed him, his ex boyfriends, friends and crushes - all probably either dead or the undead by now. his pet dog, hotpot, probably in a zombie's tummy. all those hamsters that died in peculiar ways - he missed them all dearly.and when the door banged again, and again, and again, and then finally it snapped.jin began to sob loudly, not caring for how he looked. just letting out the biggest wail, eyes all blurry and nose running like crazy. within the doorway stood at least 12 zombies, all ugly as the other. grunting, groaning, licking their lips at the shaking, easy meal (jin) upon the floor. pushing against one another, greedy to taste the human - gluttonous bastards, snarling their disgusting teeth all mouldy and rotten.a gross green hue on their once lively skin, eyes all white and bloodshot, grim stuck to them like the flies and the horrid stench that emitted from them. he wanted to be sick, was it the horrible scent or just the concept of being killed? he wasn't so sure, but at least make the last moments of his life quick and not being eaten slowly, painfully.as they crept closer to the never ending crying human, jin whispered prays despite being an atheist - in any other situation, he'd find this hilarious and probably condemn himself. their feet dragging upon the rough carpet with that groan that had haunted him for years, all smelly and revolting just ready to put their disgusting hands upon jin, groaning.and then.silence.silence?where did the groans go? where was the grunts? did they eat him quickly? or was he one of them? questions and questions just waiting for answers to be delievered.jin opened his eyes feverishly, afraid to see what heaven was like. but alas, to his complete utter surprise when he did open his eyes, he was still stuck in this measly little room with the 12 starving zombies and the now standing jungkook zombie."jungkook?" but his voice was too thin.said jungkook was standing in front of jin looking furious, as furious as a walking corpse could conjure on their bloodless face. his arms stretched wide just like a human would defend another, and his stance confidence. far too cocky for his own taste. feeling sick, jin paled once again, poor jungkook, it was 1 zombie compared to 12 - he had no chance, especially considering jungkook didn't seem to kill, but these bastards, jin thought as he glanced over to the ugly 12 zombies, had definitely killed before. ruthless monsters."grnnnr dead gnrnrn food, " the big zombie growled at jungkook, spitting flying everywhere from it's dislocated jaw, but jungkook remained unfazed.
"grrnnn no hrnrnn mine." english words occasionally could be deciphered from the grunts and groans.
"grnnn traitor gngngr kill gng you ngn too." shorty snarled, all vicious with the few teeth he had left.
"gngngg try!"and then jungkook flew at the big guy with all his anger and rage combined into one, and jin swore if he was not here he wouldn't believe it either, but jungkook slammed his jaw down onto the big brute's neck, teeth sinking into the rotting skin and ripping it right off the other zombie. spoiled blood began to spurt from the zombie's neck, spitting out like a waterfall of blood - and by gosh it was horrific, jin clutched his stomach praying not to be sick.but jungkook didn't seem to be done. as the big zombie spluttered out groans, blood dribbling down inhumanely (and no case for survival with that amount of blood shed) he fell to the floor, twitching, choking on blood. but jungkook seemed alive, he rose his leg and slammed his foot down upon the zombie's head, barely avoiding it's bite, and bashed his foot harder and harder each slam. the zombie's face crushing, falling apart.he then spun to a small one, who had tried to creep behind him silently. avoiding a hit, jungkook gripped his right hand tightly, and with such a devious smile upon his face, punched his hand right through the other's chest; pulling out a rather dull looking heart, not pumping, not breathing, but full of dark blood. the smaller zombie choked out in surprise, clutching its chest, looking up with fear in its eyes to jungkook.but jungkook was unfazed by guilt, as he gripped the heart tightly in his hand with a wicked smile upon his thin, purple lips. the blood dribbled down his hand, puddling onto the floor, before slowly put it into his mouth. blood spurted against his pale skin, trickling down his chin and staining his decent looking clothes. as jungkook chewed, his eyes gleamed, practically glowing, licking his lips and the heart soon disappeared into his mouth."w-what, fuck." the shorter zombie fell to the ground. "jungkook watch out!"
jungkook spun around at the warning with curiosity, as two other zombies had gripped onto him, pulling him around like a rag doll. but it was futile, jungkook was just superior, and instead of faltering to the double attack, jungkook pulled down his weight, throwing off the two other zombies and knocking them to the floor.gripping tightly at their hair, jungkook smashed their skulls together as teeth, spit and blood flew towards jin. he yelped out in shock when his face became red, all dirty and gross - shaking uncontrollably at the gunk on him. oh, bile was definitely coming up now, as he bent over and threw up all onto his dirty shoes and the lovely carpet. as jin sobbed at the sudden sickness, wiping away at his plump lips with the back of his palm, he looked back over all numb.he had killed the others as jin was being sick, but he was able to see how jungkook had snarled at the female zombie, snapping her into two far too easily. her body crumpled into nothiness, as he threw her aside to the floor without a second thought. that was the last one. the last one. the room was absent of growling and hungry, inhuman eyes of a vicious monster. just now, only, just him and a bloody jungkook were left.then jungkook snapped his head towards jin, who felt utterly sick at the vile state of the zombie. painted in various shades of blood, pieces of organs stuck to his clothes and his looked unstable. pupils dilated with his mouth watering, practically glowing in his success. "no." jin whispered, terrified at the sight of the zombie, especially when jungkook began prancing towards him."no!" he cried, hands wavering in front of him uselessly.
but jungkook continued. he paced slowly, slower, small steps like one would do to a stray. shutting his eyes, petrified, jin succumbed to the darkness that began to overwhelm him. black spotted dots overruled the light that would bled in, and as he felt the flow of dizziness flush him, a small but cold hand touched his face.then it was nothing but darkness.*there was a wet cloth on his skin. it felt rather nice, sort of like a loving mother cleaning their silly, little child after a day of splashing and playing joyfully in the icky mud. warm hands traced over his skin, pushing small dents into the plush of it. goosebumps rose upon his fair skin as hairs rose at the sensation, just a slow but gentle finger drawing upon his skin."hgggm?" his voice was all croaky, perhaps after all that crying it was still recovering from being hoarse. actually, now that he thought about it, the ghost of his hand traced the bump within his throat: was he alive? 'there came the warm hand again, ' he softly thought, a trace of a smile upon his plump lips. it was weird, for it wasn't humanly hot, just comforting hot, and that was just pleasant enough to crave.jin glanced around, but there was nothing to see. just floating in this abyss like purgatory, was he awaiting death or was he returning to life? perhaps, he thought sullenly just floating in this imaginary space, this was what it was like as a zombie. 'that's a nice thought, ' he decided one, it was nice to think his love ones were also being embraced by this warm hand and floaty space, instead of nothing and being held captive as they watched but could not pilot their body as a zombie.'what about jungkook?' he thought with that smile still stupidly embedded upon his lips...'WHAT ABOUT JUNGKOOK!'so suddenly jin's eyes shot wide open, hissing as the bright light of a foreign room blinded him, burning his bloodshot eyes with a friendly but unwelcome 'hello!' there was a horrible, pungent scent that remarkably still smelt sterile, hospital-like, even though it had possibly been 2 years since any hospital had been functioning. so alert and ever so afraid, jin startled as he shot his head around frantically, trying to analyse the new space he resided in.'this isn't that house anymore, ' he thought in well deserved distress. and sure enough it was not, for instead of a messy bed and a dirty floor, or colourful walls stained with blood and grim grub, or even just the resemblance of a 'house' were hospital beds, iv drips, medical equipment and produce, beige unappealing walls and no zombies."w-where?"
"grnnn nngg."instantly within a heartbeat, jin jumped highly at the zombie sound, before catching sight of a concerned looking jungkook and feeling a rather odd and not used to feeling of relief. hand on top of his heart, he let out the most relaxing sigh he'd had in 2 years of horror. "you-you scared me, i-i thought you were a zombie." okay, so perhaps that was a stupid sentence, and seemingly jungkook looked like he agreed, for he gave such a deadpan expression it was humorous.jin laughed sheepishly, eyes wavering and unable to look at the blood stains on the zombie, "oh yes, you."there came an awkward air of silence for a moment, jin not knowing what to exactly say and jungkook being practically non-verbal. barking out a cough, jin glanced down to where his purple, swelling, gross looking ankle should have been, but came to a surprise when all he actually saw was a medical patch and something that looked like an ice pack."so, you.." jungkook looked up with his pouty lips and eyes all glimmery, sort of like he was looking for something. "you, " jin paused, trying to think what it might be, and yet when his mind provided no actual idea he just assumed basic manners. "thank you for that.. that, um, saving me, kil-kill-stopping those creatures. you, uh, you did a good job, jungkook." and he supposed it must have been the correct thing to say, for the younger practically grew dog ears and a tail, would of been wagging it too excitedly, and grunted some happy chirps."and my ankle?" jin gestured, to which jungkook happily poked his own chest rather violently, as if to say 'me! i did it! me me me!'"wah, " jin laughed airily, his head falling back as he let out a sigh in disbelief. "i can't be-believe it!" the laugh he let out was incredulous, disbelieving his reality right now. "so you-" jungkook perked up listening in great depth. "you don't eat humans?" it might have been an insulting question, but at this rate sue jin for not knowing not human but acts human zombie courtesy.fluffy haired jungkook looked up as if he was thinking, again a rather odd gesture for a zombie, and then shook his head rather furiously. his fluffy hair poking into his white eyes, but now that jin had a good look under the fluorescent lights, they also seemed a rather icy blue. "no?" jungkook grunted in agreement.okayyy, so jin now felt a little sick. was jungkook playing with his prey until he did the same thing he did to those zombies to him. jungkook seemed to have picked up the unease from jin, for he backed away a little with a shattering sad look within his doe eyes, hands up as if to say 'i'm not going to hurt you' - that felt like an insult to jin now! he was a human, not a dog."so y-you eat humans?"
"gnrnnn nrnrr mm!" jungkook sparkled - was he a zombie or a vampire huhu.then jin pointed at himself with a frown, "and me, you'll eat me later too?"
"gnnnnr gnnn!!" jungkook shook his head, but jin gave a wrinkled looked.
"why not me?"jungkook paused, for a zombie he sure thought a lot. and then began chewing on his jacket as if he was stressing with this concept, though jin tutted reaching out to pull it out the baby's mouth. then slowly, as if he was still thinking carefully and cautiously, jungkook made a heart gesture towards jin with his fingers.flabbergasted at this point, maybe the zombies should have eaten him because a zombie falling in love with him was not on his calibrate this year. though, in retrospect, he was sort of honoured, always knew he was truly beautiful, then he blanched, though it was a zombie that fell in love with him.. should he be insulted again?"heart?" jin copied jungkook's gesture, to which the younger gave a square smile to, nodding and repeating it on loop. fuck sake. "you're kidding." but jungkook shook his head. "grnnn grnrrr love grnrnnnn nnn pretty nrnrnrnf gg mine!" he chirped like a little happy otter, so peculiar to the other zombies and their dead attitude.. literally.sighing, "it's not love, jungkook. you're a zombie, you don't love, you eat me." jungkook pursed his lips with a slow growl, sort of like a wild tiger, stomping his feet almost petulant like a bratty child. "ggrnn love!" he repeated again, but jin just stared with his mouth open and face dead.this seemed to piss off jungkook, for the younger spun around and kicked the medical cart, which ultimately slid across the room at record speed and slammed into the wall. it shattered against said wall, equipment flying onto the floor and letting out a horrible clanging sound. alarmed with a growing intensified terror, jin froze watching the angry little thing glance back."o-okay, love, you love me.." he tried earnestly, hoping to calm the easily tempered zombie (wouldn't want to mess with a walker at all, especially jungkook the muscular killer). "you are an adult, right?" jin stressed, hoping that this little shit wasn't a minor, because no way!jungkook hummed, "grrnnn 21!"
"you're 21?" jin repeated, jungkook nodding. then quickly pointing to jin. "me?" the zombie nodded again, and without violence or anger, the little zombie was rather cute. again, appearing to look nothing like the other walkers outside in the horrors of the world. so pretty, the prettiest zombie he'd seen so far!"oh, i'm 30.."
"grrnn old.."jin really wanted to kill him.*"jungkook look!"the little zombie quickly came running over, his little legs hard from quasi- semi rigor mortis therefore the overexcited puppy stumbled over his own legs. though jin was able to grip him tightly enough to prevent the zombie from tumbling onto the pavement, as jungkook let out a rather impressive laugh, all beam with his teeth."gnnrr rrr?" jungkook asked intrigued to what had caused jin to be so excited, as his eyes scoured over something that look rather lacklustre. he gave a nicely done unamused expression to the human, but he gave no response to jungkook and dragged the zombie towards the shop."this was my favourite bakery before the zombie pandemic!" jin enthused dramatically, and jungkook watched the taller male climb over an upside down table to peer inside. he poked his nose against the window, looking so much like a child. jungkook gave a huff, which anyone could of told you sounded much more like a laugh than anything, and came prancing over (a little more warily about the zombies than jin it seemed)."i wonder how jimin is doing, this was his when he was.." jungkook acknowledged how jin's voice slowly died out, and how his eyes glassed over deep in thought. he grew a new habit of anxiously biting his lip, which right now he was acting upon, and jungkook wasn't too much of a fan to jin ripping the skin off his lips. but he couldn't tell him, he couldn't speak."no, i must keep optimistic, maybe he survived, like me?" jin gave a small smile to jungkook, and though jungkook adored every smile of jin's, this one was a little melancholic and one jungkook wished to never see upon jin's pretty features again. he slowly reached out, as if to press his hand upon jin's cheek, but once again the elder had flinched, looking away so suddenly, as if he was pretending that he hadn't.. but jungkook saw it, and it hurt."a-anyways-"
there came a grunt from the alleyway beside the abandoned bakery, as both the human and zombie balked at the sound, hushing one another and jumped into the shadows to disguise themselves. jin stood with his back firmly pressed against the dirty glass, the development of his friendship with dirt and muck over the 2 years of horror was surely a friendship he'd never expected to grow - and he wasn't too fond of it still..they waited for a little, jungkook peeking a glance at the shaking jin wolfishly. he wasn't so sure actually why he came to like jin, what was it about jin that made him fall for him in particular? was it how pretty the elder was, soft round cheeks slightly gaunt from the lack of nutrient, how pretty his eyes were (especially when he smiled) despite how lonely and sad they glowed. was it how nicely proportioned his body was, or perfect his skin was despite the lack of skincare? his curly brown hair moped on top of his head, his silver, sweet voice or his personality. who knew. but it made jungkook feel human again. something he craved."i-i don't get it still."jungkook grunted, looking over to jin as if to ask 'what?'. jin returned that look, "why you're a zombie and yet you're you." he then poked himself, "why you haven't eaten me, why you protected me..?" but jungkook shrugged, again he wasn't so sure either, for he had eaten plenty of humans before jin, what was so special about jin to not be his dinner? "and that!" jin cried loudly, before hushing himself hoping not to have alerted that zombie. "you have far too many human characteristics, are we sure you're a zombie?" but jungkook grunted and the conversation ended there, though not before jin quietly whispered, "i just wish to understand."and oh my, jungkook wished he did too.*before jin there was nothing.before jin jungkook was just another mindless zombie. walking among those who had also been infected by the virus that plagued the street many moons ago. in fact, jungkook was one of the original humans to be infected by the virus. though his memories have sort of faded from his past life, the virus seemingly (like a zombie) had begun eating away at memories he kept as a human, overriding them with zombie urges, something like out of a video game.it made him furious, everyday trying to recount parts of his past life, just hoping he wouldn't forget it. sometimes he'd get a flash of a memory, you know? like a sudden pained ache in his head as he saw what could be a hallucination that projected his memory before it. it was all supernatural and surreal, but then again, so was this virus and zombie apocalypse.he knows why he was one of the first..it started on a regular afternoon when the sun was barely high, funny enough with human intervention the sun was definitely hotter back than now. in a small isolated lab just quarter right of the large city, a rather large gathering of scientists were gossiping about their newest development.it was a migraine to jungkook, he recounts vividly, loud shrill chirps of excitement and curiosity as these scientists broke laws and regulations for this new 'vaccine'. especially when they advocated that it would not only become the number one best vaccine on the market, able to cure everything and anything, even the 'incurable' but also make those who invested in it rich. that was the main catch, money, and that really irked jungkook as a scientist. but alas, he was much lower on the hierarchy to be acknowledged as a valid voice - so he went quiet."come on, jungkook man!"
jungkook rolled his eyes, deepening himself within the blazing beam of his laptop light. he was investigating a rather interesting collection of atoms he found whilst using the microscope on the newly developing vaccine, a little warily as his gut felt all fluttery and anxious when he thought about it so he had decided to just be cautious and look into it."i don't want to go out for a 'celebratory dinner', taehyung, " jungkook groaned, eyes rolling so far to the back of his head that it ached. but said taehyung seemed not to be taking 'no' as an answer, instead he fluttered his rather long eyelashes and pouted his lips in a manipulative way. no wonder why half the staff in this district had already slept with him, jungkook could easily tell you taehyung was beyond gorgeous."we can order in~" but jungkook only placed firm hands on the elder and gently shoved him away, "do whatever, but count me out. i don't trust that thing for one minute, and i'll prove it!" sure his obnoxious determination would be the death of him (literally he'll soon come to learn), and snarled at the elder for giving a disappointed look.sighing as he placed his hands on his dainty hips, taehyung frowned miserably, sort of like a silly puppy. "JJk2.7 was a huge success, all thanks to your intelligent brain. we neeeeed you to be there!" but jungkook only scoffed."taking my name just because i finally was able to find the correct compatibility with the element we were working with is nothing, i told you to change it! i don't want to be associated with something that COULD go wrong!" yelling, they were yelling now. even the loud scientists from before had gone a little quieter, perhaps their banter was more superior, or perhaps they were greedy for entertainment. then again, they never really liked jungkook other than his brain."you're so lame, jk! i would be so honoured if something that would cure everything, give life, was named after me!" taehyung whinged, but jungkook had picked up his laptop and began storming down the sterile laboratory. taehyung shortly on his tail of course. "i would call it taetae52, because i really enjoyed that song from that new singer.. what was his name again?""i don't care, leave me alone taehyung." but the elder didn't seem to be bothered, prancing around like a puppy barking out nonsense. "august? winter d.. autumn..""agust d?"taehyung suddenly lightened up like a bulb, his face practically glowing. "thank you hobi, my love~~" he sung, voice every so loud and banging into jungkook's already crazed mind. he was a busy man, and this bothersome interruption could potentially harm his discover. said hoseok peaked out from an isolated office, he wore a lovely grin upon his chubby face and brushed through his incredibly short hair. "no worries, cub!" and now jungkook wanted to be sick.
"hobiiiii, tell jungkook to stop being so moody and come celebrate with us! the boys and i (the girls are getting sushi) are going to order pizza and wine!" taehyung whined again, but his lover only huffed a sharp laugh. "you know jungkook, he'd rather eat with the vaccine instead of you guys. he hates you especially!""he doesn't hate me!"
"i don't hate him."taehyung spun to face the honey eyed boy with a ridiculous smile upon his face, "see!" and then he puffed out his chest so proud and ever so cocky.
"i just don't particularly like you." and then taehyung drooped like a waterless flower or a puppy with its floppy ears down. shrugging off any sort of guilt, because big, mean scientists like him didn't need guilt to weigh him down."anyways, go, shoo. i need to study this odd looking potential mutation!" jungkook tapped his finger at his screen, the image showing two atoms holding onto one another - something that should not have happened according to his calculations. which then suddenly flipped the logical switch in taehyung, as the joking male became solemn laced with seriousness and his voice grew deeper and concerned."that looks.. wrong."jungkook's heart began to flutter anxiously, if taehyung was claiming it also looked off then this could be a potential hazard. they both froze in the hallway, hoseok long shutting himself back in his office fiddling around with documents. the loud sounds echoed off the white walls of the lab, their cheering and childish behaviour becoming mute into a shrill ring."what do you think?" jungkook bit his lip anxiously, as taehyung took the laptop off and began tapping around imputing some data and some forumlas. he pushed up his glasses as his brow furrowed, "this.. this looks dangerous."
"shit, should be quickly go isolate it?" jungkook suggested, but with the way taehyung sprinted down the corridor with such fury, jungkook took that as a silent reply.*they came to the barricaded door with a heavy breath, taehyung panting and gasping as if breath couldn't come quicker. "q-quick open!" and jungkook did as told, scanning his retina as the door swung open with such velocity it blew them back slightly. the room was chilly, rather unpleasant, the gang had frozen it hoping that the cold would keep the 'vaccine' alive.when the two stepped it, "w-what do you think would happen by looking at it?" jungkook teethed in a hush whisper, as if he didn't want to believe what he thought could be a possibility. "hopefully it will just be a runt, nothing. but.." then taehyung took a sharp inhale, anxiously scratching at his palm as they looked for the vaccine."but if it's what we think it is.. then the end of the world as we know it.."the two stood in silence for a bit, the words felt heavy and unrealistic, both hoping it was the former result than the latter (but they knew it would be too lucky if so). "ah ha!" jungkook gripped small circular pot containing the mixture, as taehyung bit down on his lower lip anxiously. "what do you think is the issue? the stabilisers, the preservatives?" but jungkook could only shrug."in some way, i'm glad we didn't do this traditionally.. or legally.. if this was tested on people, shit, what could of happened.." jungkook gripped onto the pot tightly, and began walking towards taehyung. "what virus is in here anyways?" jungkook inquired, taehyung had slipped on some goggles and gloves, holding a pair for jungkook to copy him.
"a little bit of everything, i think, i'm not sure.. how do we dispose of this?"jungkook frowned looking at the vaccine closely, "hyung?" taehyung hummed slightly from the side, "oh i forgot to shut the door!" he exclaimed a little bit calmer than before, walking over to do so. but jungkook's weak voice came again. "hyung!"
"mm?" turning around to stare at the now paling jungkook. "what? what jungkook!""i-is it meant to be dissolving the fucking pot!" and sure enough it was, the lid was slowly decaying and the vaccine was throbbing. it almost looked like it was moving, which would be silly to the mere human eye, but in a state of panic jungkook dropped it down onto the floor. both taehyung and jungkook let out a horrible scream for help, alerting staff outside the room to come rushing in."w-what's going on!" wooseok (head manager) hurriedly asked, staring at their vaccine on the floor.
"it's dissolving! it's alive! it's not right, fuck it's going to kill us all!" jungkook cried out, then chaos struck. the vaccine on the floor became foggy as some staff began coughing, altering taehyung to hurriedly rush to the gas masks and throw them at all in the room. "it's changed! it's both a solid/liquid and a gas, quick hold your breath!"but jungkook stood frozen, paralysed with fear as he stared down at the throbbing vaccine, no, virus, mutation. unable to do anything. but alas, taehyung came over and tightened the mask around jungkook's face, as he barely could whisper a 'thank you'. but alas, that was the only good - for suddenly sunny screamed and pointed to jungkook's lab coat.they all glanced down at the male, and upon jungkook's sleeve.
"it's on you!" taehyung cried, as jungkook began to frantically rub it away. but it was futile, eating away at the material as he began to scream in agony at the pain. ripping off the face mask, he tried super hard to pull off his coat (the staff having set the emergency alarm off and made a run for it), but taehyung remained, pulling off his mask too and helping."get away!" jungkook cried, tears welling in his eyes but refusing to fall. he was a scientist, he needed to keep his composure at all times! but taehyung bit his lip and snarled,
"no, we are a team and we work together!" then he gripped the younger's hands tightly with a sad smile upon his face, "you'll live, we'll live, okay?" but jungkook heard the lies underneath, giving a slight nod but knowing there was nothing.. all futile.. all fucked."what d-do you think will happened?" by now jungkook had got the coat off, but it was already staining his skin a soft blue hue.
"oh hyung, it's on you too.. i'm sorry.." taehyung glanced to his exposed thigh, and sure enough the chemicals were on his thigh, all glossy and blue. he gave a dry laugh, as the two laid back with their heads on one another."nothing hopefully, let's wait for the medical team.." taehyung coughed, jungkook looking over as the room became slightly grey.
"i really do like you, actually hyung. and hobi hyung. and wooseok, even if he did just abandon us." taehyung laughed again, this time jungkook coughed. it was a rough horrible cough, hurting, aching, like he was loosing his voice."i like you too jungkookie, i'm so sorry, you're only 18.."
"I hope hoseok hyung got out.."taehyung glanced towards his office, "me too."they sat together for a little, just small chat about what their lives could have been and little things they'll miss (taehyung said his puppy dog, hoseok and pot noodles, whilst jungkook said his mum, street food and the sun). just sharp coughs and a couple of dizzy spells, jungkook felt light headed by now, and yet no sight of a recuse team."ah, we're fucked, " taehyung joked, his arms had gone grey and his head was a little floppy - inhuman. his eyes had glazed over slightly, a crystal snow colour that hid beautiful muddy eyes, jungkook wasn't sure if he could see anymore. "mm, you could have been a model, hyung." taehyung didn't reply initially, only a faint hum.jungkook glanced over instantly, pressing his left hand into the now freezing body of the elder. "hyung?" taehyung gave another hum, but this time it was weaker, less distinguished, slow. he pressed his fingers to taehyung's weak blue wrist, but the heartbeat was too faint to count accurately. "no.. no! taehyung! taehyung wake up!" he turned his stiff body to the elder, hands pressed upon his nimble, floppy body, crying, repeating his name like a broken record."taehyung, no think about hobi! yeontan! your pot noodles!" but taehyung was no longer humming in reply. it was just.. silence.. silence!jungkook pulled back now, his tears beginning to fall onto the floor. sobbing loudly, without a care who could hear him. he wanted the world to know that his hyung was gone, he wanted to mourn his hyung. slowly, he dragged his stiffing body into taehyung's freezing one. allowing himself to be wrapped in taehyung's arms, just one last time, as his breath slowly gave out, slowly, slowly breathing. his eyelids felt heavy and his heart felt light, and slowly he became nothing.*jungkook couldn't recall when he woke up, or even why and how he woke up. just that eventually, his eyes reopened and he saw light once again. it was like he was nowhere, nothing, death. but it still haunts him to this day, unsure and terrified.when he glanced around the lab he was still in, taehyung's body was missing. again, uncertain if a rescue team had finally come (of course far too late).. but why take taehyung's and not him too? when he finally was able to stand, taking in the state of the room, his legs wobbled and he felt sort of sickly.the room almost looked the same if it wasn't for a couple of errors. the glass window was smashed, like a fist had drawn through it and there was a discoloured blood stained in the centre of the mark. glass shards plastered on the floor, surrounded by used needles (ones that were valid vaccines), but it was rather odd to see so many drugs.scattered pills were among the mess, equipment tipped over and books ripped on the floor. along with the petri dish that he had hold and ripped clothing. it was like a monster had come in and ransacked the entire lab, leaving a ghost shell and him. did the monster take taehyung too? jungkook really hoped that was not the case, that taehyung had come back to life like him and escaped to find help. but the hope was weak like his heartbeat, faint like his mind, numb like how he felt.he felt funny - his body so light but so heavy, and his mind so fuzzy and distant. when he tried to speak, only a slow groan escaped his lips. slowly taking in his hands, they were a slight greyish colour with prominent blue veins, throbbing as they tried to escape his skin. in a state of panic, he turned to stare at his reflection and gasped in horror at the sight.speaking of 'coming back to life': he was a zombie.
and there was a chance taehyung was too..*"so jungkook, did you have any friends before this?" jin asked.the two were scouting out the abandon shopping centre, luckily it was early morning and it seemed like the walkers refused to come out before the sun shone and lit their way to their meals. though surely there was not enough humans left for the zombie to human ratio to consume."grnnn grnnn hyung, " jungkook tried to safe, his mouth clenched but unable. jin seemed to give him a pity look,
"me too. i had hyungs and younger brothers. i miss my mum the most, and my dog.. maybe pot noodles too though, ha, i really loved them as a child!" he watched how jungkook suddenly tensed at the sentence, had he seemed to grow paler, but shake his head and continue searching through the clothing rack for new clothes. how odd."maybe you're like half immune to this virus?"
ever since jin had asked jungkook why he was quite different to the other zombies, they had being coming up with crazy theories. some of jungkook's favourites were: 'you got bit and then bit yourself', 'you're actually a vampire and now you're a hybrid', 'i don't know, you got lucky'.. but this one was nice."grnnnn nngg maybe?" jin gave an apple smile, the one where his cheeks would squish up and give a small smile in the fat of them.
"what do you think?" then jin made a triumph sound as he pulled out a non-broken into pot noodle, the best kind, chicken and mushroom! pursing his lips, jungkook tried to formulate a cohesive sentence. "gnng i gnnrr scien ggnn tist!" taking a deep breath, "scientist!""ooo, you were a big shot!" jin joked, holding up an xxl large to jungkook with a firm nod. "you'll look good in this, my fashion sense was impeccable." the shirt was stupid looking, an anime character that jungkook would have probably known when he was human, but with the loss of some memories (and that was only growing), he couldn't. "am.""hmm?" jin inquired, the two now walking away without paying, because who was even working or receiving.. and it wasn't that jin didn't have money, he found a lot laying around and just pocketed it for his own."am scientist!" jungkook growled his veneers on display in like a non-violent snarl, because yeah, if he was to ever recover (and like, that's perhaps never) he still was a scientist until he died. humming with a soft apology upon the thick of his lips, "ah, yes. sorry." the two walked in a comfortable silence among the gentle hum of the city, it still felt eerie, like a ghost town despite how busy London used to be - but now what remained was an empty shell of life."you?" seokjin perked up at the sudden intrusiveness of jungkook's grouchy voice, and though it was slightly slurry, with a heavy accent (the one of someone who hasn't spoken in such a while than someone from aboard) it was still 1000x better than the haunting echos that bounced off of abandoned skyscrapers. "me? my job?" jungkook hummed, his eyes darted to seokjin's free hand, his left holding a ripped but sustainable plastic bag, a sudden urge to hold it overcame jungkook, as he pushed it down confused."hm, i was actually a university student.. sometimes i went fishing and sold them at my aunty's stall in the market." jin took a shuddering breath, the one where you try hard to not cry. he furiously begin blinking, and if jungkook was to assume, jin was blinking away any sort of vulnerable tears. he slowly put one arm on the elder's wide shoulders, grounding him as jin still flinched, uncertain."why you gnrnrr sad?" jungkook started to draw small circles on the elder's tense back. they continued walking through the rising light of the sun, glaring as it felt a little warmer than before.
"i-it's, sorry, " he sniffed obnoxiously, "i-i was so focused on my studies and hardly had time to see my family, the last time i saw them was a stupid video call.."guilt swirled within jungkook's bubbly tummy."s-sorry, i just wish i spent more time with them. i think they're all dead.. you know, " jin gave a dry laugh as he opened the front door of someone's house, it was a cosy home (so it seemed) all nicely painted in one unanimous colour. "I didn't get affected by the virus because i was out at sea that day fishing. my mum had asked me to come around for dinner but i had refused to come early, so i went out to catch us a main dish.. i should of gone early, should of died with them-""NOOOOOO!" jungkook snarled so viciously that it made jin let out a weep drenched in fear, the little zombie growled and slammed his heavy fist upon the coffee table, as it snapped and broke into a thousand pieces onto the floor. dust flew up into the air as jin choked back a cough, eyes all wide and vividly full of fear, watching jungkook thrash around breaking pretty furniture."no!" he pointed a gnarly finger at jin all accusingly, "no die! you gnnn ngngn stupid jungkook gnnn talk talk ngnngg g like human!" his hands gripped into his dry locks, pulling at the brown hair and ripped thin threads out. "fuck! fucking hell jungkook calm down!" jin cried, rushing over now ignoring his stealing goods, trying to pry jungkook's hands out his hair."it's okay, it's okay. i'm okay!" jin soothed with a gentle voice, much like to a baby. it didn't seem to initially work, for jungkook continued huffing and puffing, snarling like a beast. but his chest slowly fell and his eyes became a lot less fuzzy, before the little zombie gripped him so tightly that it hurt. then he pulled himself into jin's taller statue, pushing his cold nose deep into jin's warmth.a small smile pressed upon jin's lips, "it's okay, jungkookie, i am here."
"gnnn nngg can't let you ngnng go nggg like gnnn tae gnnng hyung!" his voice was all muffled, but jin still could hear him. humming like a lullaby,
"taehyung? did you loose him?""gnn i woke up nnggg he gone!" frowning, he pulled away the younger boy and stared into the icy blues and the glacier whites of the younger boy.
"who is taehyung?"*it took a while for jungkook to explain who taehyung was, especially when he could hardly use words and instead only able to produce grunts, groans and other similar noises. and bless jin, for he sat there listening fully attentive, hanging on to each little word like it was a life line. he sat with wide eyes, listening and humming along, gasping at new information, and sniffing at the sad little parts."i'm sure he knew you actually loved him, jungkook, " jin spoke with such a delicate tone that it ached jungkook's no longer beating heart. "even if you were a little brat, all grumpy and fluffed up." the little zombie let out a harmless growl, to which now jin didn't even flinch to, instead baring a hearty laugh that jungkook felt funny to. then the elder sat back, his eyes all glistering and distant - as if he was recollecting past memories too."i'm sorry though."
"hmm ggg?"
jin picked at his lips anxiously, "just everything. it's just this.. this bastard virus that took everything away from you, from me, from everyone." he gestured to the outside world, though it looked so beautifully blue and how gorgeous the nature was restoring its rightful home among the man-made structures, the two clearly couldn't see more beauty with it - cursed to remember that zombies and dead ones inhabited the street."i lost my mum, my namjoon, my life.. all because of that stupid vaccine. fuck!" jin gritted his angrily, staring towards jungkook with those tearful eyes.
"mmmee.""what? sorry?"jungkook heaved, taking a deep breath and trying again. "meee!"
"you?" jin shuffled closer to the zombie with a blank face, though it was certain that he was perplexed. jungkook gestured to the bedside table, where upon the top was a discarded book. curiosity was like a drug, and boy was jin looking for excitement. slowly standing up and walking over, he gripped the velvety journal with interest."what is it, jungkook?" jin inquired, the question upon his thick lips. the book was light but well used, the cover having been a tad bit ripped as the hard cover shone through the velvet purple that protected it. there were pages hanging out with horribly messy handwriting, some scientific symbols that jin definitely couldn't translate, some odd phrases and childish doodles scratched into the page. it was full to life of the past."minn gggg e."
"do you want me to look through?" and jungkook nodded.'dear diary, journal, whatever this is..' read the first page, but jungkook instantly shot out and gripped jin's fair wrist. it spooked the elder just by its sheer coldness, but hummed as if to inquire what jungkook wanted. the little zombie shook his head, snatching the book and flicking through it, almost to the last few pages. "these?" he nodded.'we finally created the vaccine.. though i can't say i'm fond of how this is going. taehyung said i should be proud of how far our experiment is going, that we'll change lives, save many, give hope.. but these greedy rich men want to make money from it.. i am a scientist, i work for the greater good, i hate this.''they finally have decided we're done. that we've created the ultimate hope.. i wish they named it that instead of what they are going to.. fuck me for completing the last step.. i'm still not too happy with it.. hoseok tells me that i have a great mind and a kind heart - but i feel sick.''i found an anomaly. something's not right with it. i think something bad could happen if we sell this vaccination. but no-one will listen to me because of my age and rank. i'm scared taehyung will also be against me.. for now i'll work alone.''JJK2.7 will kill.'jin froze, his finger once tracing the words of the book but now remained frozen upon the name. his heart began to pounce, beating irregularly as his tummy began to queeze and ache. sweat bundled on his forehead and his mouth became rather dry, turning around to stare at the zombie with erratic, anxious, hopeful eyes. "no, no you didn't.." but his voice was raspy, like it wouldn't come out right, all trapped within his throat.the zombie looked away ashamed. as jin slammed the book shut with a growing anger, and be hold, on the front of the journal was a name, a name he wished wasn't on the front, a name that shook a horrible coldness through him. JEON JUNGKOOK.his finger rose instantly to jungkook in pure rage, throwing the book down without a care in the world and snarling, vicious, angry, horrid snarling. "YOU!" jin yelled, "THIS IS YOUR FAULT! YOU DID THIS ALL! YOU KILLED EVERYONE!" and jungkook didn't, no, couldn't react. he lowered his head in deep shame, unable to even growl, he couldn't talk and give excuses - but to be honest, there were no excuses."FUCK! YOU KILLED EVERYONE WITH THIS ILLEGAL VACCINE AND THEN HAVE THE AUDACITY TO REMAIN SEMI HUMAN AND WALK WITH ME!" jin cried, no longer caring if he attracted zombies with his loud volume or spiked scent. "DO YOU FIND THIS FUN? DO YOU LIKE WALKING IN A WORLD YOU FUCKED UP?"the elder turned to storm away, but jungkook latched onto his wrist stopping him. "let me fucking go!" jin's voice was absent of that warmth jungkook came to love so dearly. "did you think hanging out with the only human left would remove your guilt, that i'll forgive you?" and though jungkook was shaking his head, unable to cry, a silent plea that jin would stay, this jin ignored him. he threw himself out of jungkook's grip and glared."i. don't. forgive. you!" enunciating each syllable intending to harm, such hatred upon his rough tongue, like bullets aiming to injure the zombie - and shit, they did. "you-you killed my mum.. you killed your taehyung!" and then jungkook let out the worst shrill cry, it bounced off of walls and pained jin's ears, as the human backed away hands upon them, tears trickling down his pretty face."fuck you! you stupid zombie!"but as jin turned around, ready to run into the vast unknown away from jungkook, who cared where he went just as long as he got far away enough from jungkook.. even if he died.. but as he turned around, he came to face another horror.there, before him all tensed and furious, was a zombie.it stood smaller than jin, but more well off. the creature had a faint blue hue to its paley, dead skin, and had veins practically protruding, wanting to escape it skin. the zombie had thousands upon thousands of cuts and gauzes upon the flesh, some tainted with dirt and clearly infected - but would it kill the undead, never. it had white eyes, dead unblinking, furious white eyes. with a snarling mouth, ajar as it dribbled saliva and blood down its face.it was hungry.
it was angry.
and it wanted jin.in fear, jin stumbled backwards letting out a horrible cry. as the zombie crept closer, snarling, growling, snapping its fangs towards the human. "s-shit!" but there was nowhere to go, and jin became paralysed with fear, falling onto the floor sobbing loudly, begging for help, 'no' upon his tongue as if it was the only word he knew.but it was futile, jin was screwed, game over, the end, no chance for survival. as he was left to watch the creature violently snap and sink its teeth into the sweet flesh of jin's human skin.it was horrible, the ripping of his skin with human teeth, the agony of his skin being teared away as blood spluttered into the zombie's face. jin began to violently shake, compulse as his body went into shock, jolting up and down like he was shot by lightning, spluttering out incoherent words as his eyes blurred and mind began to feel heavy. there was the sound that felt like fingernails to a chalk board, and the zombie's claws clenched into his skin, further and further until his arm was more bloody than skin.jin let out another cry, a horrible scream for help.
the pain was horrible, unbearable, undescriptive, he just wanted it to end!and then it did all of a sudden?
and as jin blinked away the tears, whining in a horrible slaughter of pain, he glanced at his saviour. jungkook was standing before him with such a strong and powerful stance, snarling like a vicious animal at the other zombie. he spat, growling with his eyes all darted, glaring deadly towards the danger. the other zombie let out a similar grow, but jungkook only grew louder. snapping like a crocodile, and by gosh it was horrible.jin shivered, sniffing as he felt the pain throb, vision still blurring all dusty like a cloud had blocked his sight, and his head was painful like jolts clenching within it. he stared down at his arm, a massive gauze within his arm (if you could even tell it was an arm anymore, it was so bloody and so sickly, it looked more like a raw steak than a human arm). it stung, fucking hell, it stung! and though jin was pressing down ever so tightly, it felt futile to delete such pain."j-jungkook!" and even if jin was still furious at jungkook's betrayal, he didn't want the little zombie to be deadly injure. said jungkook snapped his head towards the small figure upon the floor, then back to the growling zombie, letting out a bloodcurdling shrill cry."nggg ggnnn my!" as jungkook slowly stalked closer to the ashy grey man, who did not back down and stood tall. "gnnn my jin ggnnnn you gnnnnnrr!" and if a man could woe jin, that did it.. okay, not really the time for dramatic theatrics..then as jungkook finally got into the limelight of the sun reflecting into the small apartment's room, and allowing the soft honey hue of the growing sun to draw out the gentle blue tint to jungkook's paling green corpse, or how it highlighted the white-blue tone to his wide, doe eyes, did the other zombie freeze. their growls died down so quickly it gave jin whiplash, and instead the zombie let out an odd gasp.. sort of human that it was freaky."gnnngg jung-kook?"jungkook stood affronted, perhaps even a little perplexed, gesturing to himself with shaky finger. the ashy zombie let out a gentler growl, "my jungkook!" and if jin wasn't literally dying out on the floor covered in his own blood, then perhaps he'd found it sweet.. or fucking odd, how do you know him you little zombie muncher?it seemed like no recognition drew over jungkook's face, for it remained devoid of any other emotion than that previous anger he bore. he even snapped with a vicious bite when it tried to get closer to him. the zombie drew what one could picture as a sad, lonely frown, trying to speak as much as his poisoned mind would allow him to. "gnn me gnnnnrrr tae-hyung!"
then silence, so much that jin could hear his blood pouring out his body.
"tae hyung?" jungkook repeated, now a little shyer. the ashy zombie nodded furiously, coming closer despite how noticeable jungkook flinched. "taeee hyunggg! taeeee hyungggg!" he sung, though it wasn't so nice from a growling zombie. then the smaller zombie wrapped his arms ever so tightly around jungkook, squeezing him into a familiarly human action, as the two just stayed there in silence for a little bit."t-that's c-cute and all, but-but i think i'm duh-dying."so quickly did jungkook rip himself from taehyung's 'warm' embrace, snapping out something in zombie language and limping his way over to where jin was all loose, floppy and weak upon the floor. with crazily concerned eyes, the little zombie bent down and placed his firm, cold hands upon the burning sensation of jin's skin. it felt nice, it did, felt lovely to the aching pain that jin's body felt inflamed within."j-jin?"then the world began to spin, colours flickering from luminous to rather dull and lifeless. jin blinked slowly, sort of like a gecko, trying to stabilise his slowing breaths. in this state of delusion, he was certain jungkook had placed his hand into his own. sounds became muffled as jungkook's voice became numb, jin couldn't make out the murmurs and grunts of the little zombie anymore. there was that constant throbbing pain from the bite mark, and he would yelp out in pain at the thought."su-sorry jungkook. y-you didn't w-want to kill ev-everyone." jin hoped he had a small smile upon his face, "y-you just wanted to s-save everyone."and then he felt like he was sinking, deeper and deeper into nothingness. it was alarming, but he no longer had any fight left within him to argue with it. just speckles of black overriding the world, as he felt the pain numb and his chest heavy, becoming nothing..* "JUNGKOOK!"jin shot up from the medical chair, gasping for a deep relief of air from the black suffocation he was certain he was just feeling. sweat beaded off of him, like a fever, as he began heaving, coughing up bile and saliva. but he was alive! for sure? frantically glancing around this new room, trying to analyse the situation he was in.it was similar to the room he was in a few weeks ago. all beige and a white sterile uncomfortable colour, with that same intoxicated scent. medical equipment scattered, some unused, some all bloody - perhaps his own blood? wasn't he bitten? as the thought passed his mind, he snapped towards his arm hoping to see the cut..but instead it was covered by a massive white plaster, a little bloody from where the blood had seeped through. and oddly enough, his skin was still rather human coloured - his tanned honey colour absent of blue or green or decay! he caught his reflection in a small mirror, gasping at how human he still looked - no rotting corpse, no white eyes, no colour drained from his apple cheeks.. a little gaunt and sickly, but still human."how?" he let out all raspy like sandpaper, it hurt awfully like someone had stuck knives down his throat, but at least he was okay. he was certain that he was bitten by that zombie, no, this alleged taehyung. and yet, here he was.. okay, perfectly fine, alive and most confusing of all: human."gnnn?"in an instant the male jumped at the sudden new sound, eyes catching the sight of something moving in the shadows. in the black fog were glowing white eyes, something he didn't know zombie's had, as they stared unblinking towards jin - as if they were cautious or guilty, just drowning in sympathy.. so it was more than likely taehyung."t-taehyung?" jin spoke with such a small voice, he wasn't sure if the zombie had heard him. but with the way the ashy haired male slowly came out from the shadows, obviously he had. his posture was small despite having a larger mass to him, and he looked ashamed. "h-how did i?" gesturing to himself, not finding himself capable of producing full sentences just yet.taehyung pursed his lips, looking towards jin then out to the hallway. "gnn know.." and he shrugged for extra credit. jin let out an exasperated sigh, head falling back onto the headrest, his head still furiously ached and there was a slight burn on his arm still. "d-did you?" he then asked, pointing to the plaster on his forearm. but taehyung shook his head,
"ho-hose-ok.""who's h-""ah you're up!"startled, jin slammed his head back up, smashing it on the light that floated above it. he hissed in pain, and with a shaky hand held his forehead cringing at the new added injury. but when he stared towards the newcomer he felt breathless.. for before him stood something he'd thought he'd never see again: a human."y-you? alive!" jin couldn't believe his eyes, trying to find any sort of abnormality of this 'human' - it felt far too good to be true, he generally had assumed he was the last human on earth. this man, assumingly hoseok, was rather handsome - especially for a man surviving in a dead world with limited beauty enhancers, must be natural. he was a golden tan with shiny ginger hair, it clearly was dyed for his roots were showing a little, but not enough or 2 years of an apocalypse.. he had soft, comforting eyes, ones of a doctor, that were a nice brown like jin's own. he bore freckled cheeks with a little scar underneath his right eye, smiling towards the elder male with a loving heart grin.pointing at himself with full lips, "me? ah ha! yes, i'm alive.. human if you shall." and paced over, ignoring the sad looking taehyung and instead focusing on jin, overlooking for something that jin wasn't sure about. he flicked on a torch, asking jin to follow it. "imagine my surprise when taehyung returns, but with him he has a dying human and jungkook!" hoseok gasped out with animated joy."i was so so shocked to see jungkook again, i thought he was a goner.. i guess in some way he is." hoseok gave a small smile, it was laced with sadness and it ached jin's heart. but the man flicked off his torch and slipped on some gloves. "i'm going to look at tae's bite here, okay?" a he began to peel away the patch as it made a sticky sound.there was still a prominent bite mark, fangs and teeth marks pressed into the flesh of his skin, and a slightly rashy bump around the side rose from the skin, flared and red. but no infection and no zombification. hoseok paused for a second, intrigue upon his face like a child wondrous in a sweet shop, before hissing, and slowly began tracing a gentle finger around the surface area."this is odd, " he hummed lowly, as he thumbed a tender press into the flesh though jin did hiss out in pain and hoseok immediately gave a kind apology. "you SHOULD be a zombie about now, or at least dead..""but i am not, " jin pouted, all cheeks puffed.
"no you are not." he took his fingers off and stared into his almond eyes, "how?"scoffing lightheartedly, "i don't know, you're the doctor.."
"i'm not a doctor, i am also a scientist with these two dummys."
'oh, a scientist too, ' jin acknowledged with a sort of heavy heart, sure he couldn't fully blame them, but yet?"i wasn't one of the vaccination team members, if you're wondering, " hoseok gave a gorgeous smile, all beaming like it wasn't the end of the world. it did flutter jin's heart. "i'm just on stats and data, i do most of the online spreadsheets work - 'twas was boring.."then hoseok's face dropped to an oddly mature one, the smile long drained off his face. it was amusing how quickly he could remove the smile from his lips, replacing it with a frown or a stern line. "regardless, where were you when this broke out? maybe there's a correlation?"jin watched as the red haired human (his first human contact in years!) picked up a disinfection swab and a new plaster, settling down again beside him to re-clean jin's wound. "i was fishing. doubt any link honestly.." but hoseok shrugged. a little timid, jin glanced down at the hard working scientist, a fond smile graced the ghost of his lips as hoseok seemed to work with his tongue poking out."any illness, past vaccines? medical history? allergies?""i'm allergic to potatoes, garlic, pollen? that helpful? no illness, the same vaccines as everyone else. no bad medical his- oh!" jin shouted, which seemed to surprise hoseok as the latter jumped and dropped the cleanser. "when i was 8 i got hit by a car-"
"the fuck?""yeah, it was brutal. i was in the hospital for a while, a little bit of amnesia and a medically induced coma? but realllyyy, i think it's the potatoes, they're cunning you know.." hoseok seemed to stare at jin with such an incredulous look, seemingly unsure of what to say to that. but he choked, gave a dry cough and hummed, agreeing that it might be the potatoes."but what about you? you seemed to have survived?""i'm also allergic to potatoes-"
"for real?!" but with the way hoseok laughed he was kidding."no. i was in the office when it happened.. wooseok, our team manager, was banging on my window. he said that jungkook and taehyung were careless, released the virus and screwed us all. of course i was wary, but when i looked over my shoulder i saw him.. dead..?the room was a little foggy, seemed like it had mutated. but when i tried to open the door, i couldn't, wooseok had locked me in. said i must have been working with them, see i was a little too chummy with taehyung for his liking. which is odd, because taehyung was 19 and wooseok was A married and B 32."hoseok pulled away with a clap, "done!""anyways, so it had been an hour or so when i finally got the door to come of it's hinges. but shit, they were both dead. so i ran, and i kept running until i found safety. but it was horrible, seokjin, dead bodies scattered across the street, these zombie things chewing away at them, forgetting they were human hours before. i don't even know how i survived.. i just did."jin gave him a kind pat, "me too. i thought i was the only human left.." as he sniffed hoseok laughed, "me too! then one day, taehyung found me. of course i was spooked, he was a zombie, i was a human.. i almost killed him.. but he was.. human?""me too!" jin cried again aghast, "i woke up to jungkook staring at me. scared me so bad i sprained my ankle, weak bones you know." he then knocked on them for dramatic affect, which eased up the sullen mood in the room as hoseok let out a sweet laugh."you know, seokjin.."
"do call me jin or hyung, i'm sure i'm older than you."
"hyung, " hoseok tested it, feeling it light upon the edge of his tongue. "with the discovery of your immunity, we can probably make a cure to this madness."but jin suddenly placed two firm hands upon hoseok's shoulders, "another vaccine. look what the last one did for you." then he gestured towards zombie taehyung who had been listening without a single sound nor movement, another reminder that he wad ultimately dead, unalive, not human. beside him sat a twitching jungkook, seemingly incapable of holding a burst of energy back, as he rocked upon his bottom anxiously."besides, you said you were a 'data collector' not someone who actually produced vaccines.. your only two 'alive' scientists are pretty much dead, " and though he didn't say it, it was clear jin was intending to say the word 'useless'. taehyung growled lowly at this, that uncomfortable feeling emerged once again within jin. "hey now, no need to be rude.." hoseok chastised, standing up with a crack in his legs. "soz." but even if it wasn't said, it was true.what could these two zombies with a hinder in their intelligence do? and all four of them knew it. so when silence overruled the mood in the room, they all lowered their heads bothered. seemed like hell was to remain. "i knew a rather smart man back.. 2 years ago."jin glanced over with sharp eyes, as if they were begging the newcomer to elaborate, to tell more like life depended on it; it did. "he's allusive. sort of an hikikomori, dropped out of med school and went.. well the other scientists say.. 'insane'. he might be able to help, he knew this crap too." bitting upon his bottom lip, jin took a deep breath. it was something."is he still alive?" but hoseok was unable to answer, giving a weak shrug as a reply.
"hopefully, because this is our last hope."
"and who is this man?" jin inquired, because now 'hope' was the only thing they could rely on. it was like an addictive drug, giving placebo effects in return for a short period of blissful ignorance."min yoongi."
