To all Gem Kind, Blue Diamond meant a lot of things.She was the third Diamond. Coming after her sister Yellow Diamond. The pair were the second most powerful in all Homeworld, only behind their mother Gem White Diamond.Unlike White, who was known as the absolute power, and Yellow who was the military tactician, Blue is known for her wisdom and her more peaceful ways. She much rather use diplomacy than an army. Still, when she had to fight, she could do it well.She is also known to be softer than her fellow Diamonds. Blue is less strict to the gems on her court, and is also more amendable on taking off colors and runts in, and find them a use.Her gems adored her, praised her.But. There is something almost no one knows. And that is that Blue Diamond is in constant pain.It was no secret Blue ADORED her younger sister, Pink Diamond. She had practically raised the youngest Diamond. She was also the softest to her.So when she got shattered, Blue was destroyed.To this day she still blames herself for what happened. She wishes dearly for a second chance. Years of reflection had also showed her the error of her ways when raising Pink. How she could have done better.Yellow was angry with her. She wanted her to move on. But Blue is simply unable to. And White...well White barely speaks to them since it happened, and Blue is too afraid to find out.The only one that truly knows her pain, is her Pearl, her dearest and most trusted Gem. Even though she is meant to be a servant, to Blue Diamond her Pearl is her best friend and the one Gem she truly trusts. The other gem that once held that title went missing many years ago.Blue Diamond found herself going to Earth again and again, to mourn. To cry for her precious Pink, who she’ll never be able to see again, never be able to apologize for the things she did.“Oh Pink....I only wish I could speak to you, one last time.” That was her dearest wish, but it will never come true.Blue sighted and stood up from her sister’s palliquin.“Come Pearl, let us...”Before she could finish, she heard something.It sounded like....like crying.Someone was crying, close by.“Pearl....do you hear that. The crying notices.“Yes My Diamond. It sounds like they come from close by.”“Hm....do me a favor, and check what it is.”“Yes My Diamond.”Blue Pearl went to the nearby bushes and gasped lightly.In them, was a human boy. A very young one. He was curled on the bushes. Sobbing.“What is it ?”“It’s a child My Diamond. A human child.”A human child ! Here ?“Is there any sign of his parents.”“No, there isn’t.”“Hm.”A simple human child should not be a concer for her. She knew that.Netherless, something deep within her gem told her to check this out.Blue Diamond walked forward to see the child herself.It was indeed a male. With Curley black hair, pink shirt, and blue pants.The poor thing was soaked on his tears. It made Blue’s core shatter. Yet she could not explain why.“Hello there young one.”The child suddenly turned to her with a scared expression.“No no ! Don’t be scared. We aren’t gonna hurt you. My name is Blue, and this is my friend Pearl. We promise you’ll be in no harm.”The boy looked at Pearl.“Pearl...your name is Pearl ?”“Yes.” She said kindly.“Wow.”Blue gently grabbed the child in her hand.“What is your name child.”“I...I am Steven. Steven Universe !”“Steven...That is a lovely name. Tell me Steven, you seem quite sad. Is everything alright.”“It’s just.....I think my family hates me.”“Huh ?”“They think I’m my mom...and I’m not my mom. I’m not as strong or great as her. And I heard them say how they wish she was here and...not me.”That...that sounded awful to Blue.To wish a person gone...it didn’t make sense. From what Steven is saying, she can deduce his mother died giving birth to her. But...making sure the ones that you care for are well, it’s the greatest thing.Blue would gladly have been shattered for Pink if she could have.Yet there was also something familiar on his story.“I sadly also fight a lot with my family.” Blue said.“Really ?”“Yes. You see Steven, I lost my younger sister, a long time ago. I haven’t been able to mourn her. My older sister Yellow, constantly gets angry about it. She has good points, but...I just wish she would allow me to feel what I feel.”Yellow was her twin. White had created them both at the same time. They had come out of the ground almost at the same time as well, with Yellow only a few moments before her. It was tragic that they fought so much now.And speaking of, Blue has no idea how her relationship with White is. The barely talks to the mother Gem. So far. White refuses to speak about what happened that day.“I...I am so sorry for your loss Ms. Blue.”Oh that child was so sweet.Blue knew the earth had a dark fate. She and Yellow had built the cluster to...make sure the planet that killed their own was destroyed.Strangely, White was against the idea of the cluster, but it was one of the few times they outvoted her. Even so....Blue has had doubts of the plan lately.Even so....Steven did not deserve to share the Earth’s fate. He...reminded her too much of Pink for it to happen.“Steven, do you have somewhere to go ?”“No.” He started crying again. “My family hates me.”“Then perhaps you would like to accompany us. My Pearl And I will take you to a wonderful place.”“Really !”“Yes of course. You are a lovely child, I’d love to speak more to you,”Had Steven been older. He might have realized the choice he was about to make, would change the course of history.People that would have been his enemies, would be his allies. Allies will now become enemies. Some will stay the same.He didn’t know that by making his choice, those he would grow to call family, would change.At las, He was just a fourth year old, who thought he wasn’t loved. Who wanted a family that loves him for who he was.“Let’s go !”
As the Blue Diamond hand ship lift off, the warp pad activated.The Crystal gems, Garnet, Pearl, And Amethyst rushed in.“STEVEN !” They yelled.But they had come in too late. The had ship took off, and Steven was in it.“NOOOOO !”The Crystal Gems could do nothing as they watched Blue Diamond take the son of their leader.“No....we are too late.” Amethyst mumbled. “Why....why did he had to listen to us saying those things ? Why did we even say them ! It’s just....ARGH !”Pear fell to her knees. She had lost Steven. The thing Rose asked her to protect...she failed.“Rose....please forgive me.”Garnet did not speak.“What do we do Garnet ?” Amethyst asked. “How do we get Steven back ? What are we...”Suddenly, Garnet glowed and vanished, and two smaller figures came out.“Ruby ! Sapphire !”The pair that made Garnet stood together. One burning the ground in anger, the other freezing it in sadness.“Steven is gone.” Sapphire said threw tears. “He’s gone....”Amethyst could say nothing at that. They...they failed. They were supposed to protect Steven...and they had failed.Pearl just sat on the ground crying, begging for Rose’s forgiveness.Ruby started burning up, until she could not hold her anger any more.“BLUE DIAMOND !” She yelled in anger.Sapphire just watched her lover yell threats against their former leader. A foe that they could not hope to defeat, even as Garnet.“In the end....you won, Blue Diamond. You finally had your revenge.”
Blue took Steven to Pink’s zoo, but instead of taking him to the other humans, she went to the main room. She also thank fully managed to avoid the annoying Agate she had running this zoo. She is thinking of finding a new gem to take care of this place.“Pearl. Make sure no one enters this room.”“Yes My Diamond.”Blue gently placed Steven down.“Wow. This place is amazing !”“Isn’t it. This is where I spent my time with Pink. She loved bringing Earth life here. After she was gone, I made sure to preserve her legacy.”“Was Pink Diamond as huge as you ?”“Oh no. Pink was the smaller of us. Yet it was also fascinating. She didn’t have to constantly look down to see other gems. ““Wow....you know, I have a gem stone too !”Wait....what ?“You....you have a gem ?”Steven proudly nodded his head and lifted his shirt.And sure enough, a pink gem stone was there.At first glance, it looked like a Rose Quartz. But....Blue knew that gemstone. She felt a close connection on her gem, just like she feels when White and Yellow are close, or when....Pink was there.This gem stone....it’s Pinks !“Steven....what was your mother’s name ?”“Eh...Rose Quartz.”But that would be imposible. There is no way Steven would be the son of the traitor while carrying Pink’s gem, unless...Oh...Unless....her sister and the traitor....where the same.Pink had never been shattered...she faked it. Pink had led the rebelión.At that moment, Blue felt many things.She felt angry at how their sister would dare to turn against them.She also felt sad and shameful. She really failed Pink if she saw fit to rebel. Likely the only way she felt they’d listen to her....and it was worst to know she was most likely right.Yet. Blue did not express that, because the child in front of her, had nothing to do with this.Yes. Steven carries Pink’s gem. But the energy, the essence of the gem, it wasn’t Pink’s, it was Steven’s. A half human half gem. Something so misterious, yet also fascinating.“Steven, do you know how special your gem is.”“My Gem is special ?!”“Of course it is ! You’re a Diamond ! Just like me !”“Wait...I thought mom was a Quartz.”“It seems there was...so,e confusion. But I know a fellow Diamond when I see them. You and I Steven, are family.”“But...I’m not mom.”“No you’re not. You’re Steven, you’re her son. It doesn’t change what you are to me Little one. You’re your own being...a very special one I believe.”To the four year old boy. That meant everything. At last. A gem saw him as himself...and cared for him for who he was.Steve gave Blue Diamond a hug, and the leader gently returned it.Blue Pearl saw the scene with a small smile. It was the first time in a long time she saw her Diamond this...happy.To Blue. This was what she had asked for. A second chance, a chance to redeem herself.She had failed Pink, but she will not fail Steven.From this day, Blue Diamond will protect this gift the universe sent her.It was her new hope. Something she never thought she’d have again.“Thank you Steven...thank you.”
