Inside of a quiet and somewhat empty café of Leblanc. Lies a young couple, currently spending their time and comforting each other for tomorrow.Earlier today, the Phantom Thieves receive a terrible news from Sae. According to her, the general public suddenly deny the Phantom Thieves' existence and are more worried about the future of Japan without Shido leading the country. Support for Shido suddenly rises abnormally as his confession was covered up as 'mental instability' with all the proof that the Phantom Thieves change his heart was denied completely, despite his lackey admitting to the fact that it was a Change of Heart about a week ago. If things weren't bad enough, the new SIU Director (likely one of Shido's lackey) initiates a cover up on Shido's crimes, starting by firing Sae and mobilising the police force to arrest the Phantom Thieves. This, prompted the Thieves to discuss on what they should do In order to snap the public back to their senses, in which none of them knows how; until Morgana spoke up. The not-cat suggested that they should travel to the Depths of Mementos and steal the public's treasure, at the cost of them losing access to the metaverse and their powers, forcing them to retire. After a few discussion, everyone unanimously agreed to steal the public's treasure and initiate their final heist.Back to the present, Ren and Makoto sat next to each other, with a hot cup of coffee placed in front of them. A tense and uneasy silence, permeated between the two of them, with only the sounds of their breathing can be heard.Breaking the silence, Makoto decided to spoke up "You're still thinking of what we discussed earlier today right?" She asked him. The boy didn't answer, as he looked down at his cup, clearly in deep thought, before taking a sip of his coffee.With a deep sigh, he finally spoke up "I mean... kinda hard not to. This is most likely gonna be our last heist and..." He paused, grabbing his glasses before pinching his nose, clearly anxious. Makoto reaches her hand to comfort him."I know... I felt pretty anxious that this is gonna be our last heist as well." She told him. Ren let out a deep breath, before turning his head to face her. His face looked as stoic as ever, but Makoto knows that he was tense. She cleared her throat, before she spoke in a comforting tone "Ren, you know you can talk to me about what's on your mind. I know that something is troubling you during our meeting."Ren looked at his partner, a reassuring smile plastered to his face. He let out a deep sigh, turning his head to now face his cup "I'm afraid Makoto... I'm afraid that we'll fail our heist tomorrow... I'm afraid that... that we'll be captured by Shido's men..." He paused before facing Makoto again, as he held her hand "I'm afraid... that they'll capture you... I'm..." He grit his teeth before he continued "I'm just afraid of losing you..." He confessed.Makoto frowned at that. Seeing Ren this vulnerable was a rare sight, that only she herself has witness in person. It was understandable for him to think of those thought of course, especially with the police hunting them down. Still, she wanted to comfort him and rid him of those thoughts. She stands up from her stool to approach him, before giving him a comforting hug. Ren was taken aback from her action, not knowing how to process it. She let go of the hug to face him, her hands now placed onto his cheeks as she move her head to gave him kiss on his forehead. She backed away to face her as she gave him a reassuring smile.Not knowing how to process her sudden affection, he decided to ask her "M-Makoto? what are you-" He was interrupted by a sudden finger placed onto his mouth silencing him."Shhh... don't question it, alright? You deserved this after everything that you've done." She told him, her voice was soft and reassuring. Her crimson red eyes gazes at him lovingly, her soft lips formed into a smile that she always gave him whenever he dropped his mask in front of her. Not knowing what to do, Ren felt hot tears falling from his eyes.Makoto grabbed his glasses and gently put it beside the countertop, before wiping his tears "I get it, you're worried about me; and I'll be lying if I wasn't worried about tomorrow as well." She admitted to him.Ren's eyes widened in surprise at the revelation "Really?" He asked her.She scoff "Of course I do you dumbass. Why wouldn't I be worried? I almost lost you before." She paused, sighing deeply before she continued "I've been worrying about you since the interrogation, since Shido's palace and now this bullshit... I'm not confident that everyone is gonna survive when we go tomorrow; the depths of Mementos is uncharted territory to us, to Morgana as well. So really, I'm not lying if I say that I'm anxious right now." She told him with full honesty.Ren was taken aback by her respond. He knew that she was anxious, but he was unaware just how anxious she is. Hearing her fully admit her feelings, give him a weird sense of relief. He let out a contented sigh, before shooting her small smile "You know, I guess I really did have too much stuff on my plate this past few weeks that it starting to get to me." He quietly laugh to himself "Now that I think about it, everyone's probably anxious as hell about tomorrow..." He theorised.Makoto giggled "They most likely do; though, I don't think they're as anxious as you though." He raised an eyebrow at that "What? its true you know? besides, it's not like anyone other than me and Morgana knows this side of you." She leaned her head forward, allowing their forehead to touch each other as she closed her eyes with a smile on her "I'll always be there for you on your times of need, no matter when and where we are in this world. If you're afraid then let's be afraid together, if you're happy then let's be happy together; no matter what circumstances it is, let's face them together no matter what, ok? Don't forget that." She told him, before pulling him into a heartfelt kiss, taking him by surprise.It took him a second to register what's going on, before he, eventually, deepen the kiss as he pull her closer to him. The young couple stay like that for a while, before they broke off the kiss.Ren smiled at her, gazing his steel grey at her beautiful crimson red eyes. Makoto then asked him "Feeling any better?"He chuckled "Heh. Yeah, I do..." He paused for a moment, before pulling Makoto into a deep hug, which she reciprocate. "Thank you... for always being there for me..." He told her."The same goes to you too... Ren." She replied.They fell into a comfortable silence as they continue to embrace each other for a few minutes, before breaking it off. Ren wiped his tears, before he gazes at his girlfriend, a small smile starting to form on his mouth "Say Mako, since this might be our last night together. Mind staying here for the night? Morgana said that he'll be sleeping with Futaba to give us some alone time." He told her, the proposition he gave her took her by surprised. "Well, what do you say your highness? wanna stay?" He asked her with small smirk on his face.'Staying with Ren huh? Well... I'm sure sis wouldn't mind if stayed here for the night.' She thought to herself. She gave him a nod as she tell him her answer "Sure. I was planning on staying over for tonight anyway." She told him.Ren offered a hand to her which she took "Well, let's go upstairs then." He pulled her in, surprising her, before putting her in a bridal carry, prompting her to yelp in surprise "After I carry you upstairs that is." Makoto covered reddening face with both of her hands, as she mumbled something to herself, getting Ren to chuckle as they made their way to his room to enjoy their night together.
Sojiro POV
23/12/2016, Yongen-Jaya, Night
Sojiro made his way to Leblanc after parking his car near his house. He was tired from buying groceries and the traffic jam today didn't help either. He sigh in relief when he arrived at Yongen after a long trip back from the market."I should make myself a coffee after dropping this off." He told himself. When he finally arrived at Leblanc, he was surprised to see that the place was still well lit. He pull out his key to unlock the door, only to found that the door wasn't locked "Huh. Guess there's someone meeting him right now." Sojiro entered the establishment, expecting Ren and his guest to sit at one of the booth, only to see two cold cups of coffee at the counter top. As he approach the cups, he suddenly heard something from upstairs.
*Creek*
He heard the bed upstairs creek a bit more than usual, as he realised why the cups was left downstairs. He simply drop off the groceries at the countertop, before exiting and closing the door with his spare key and walk home, not wanting to interrupt what's going on at the attic.
