" We ought to teach them a lesson, y'know? "
Ying tied a ribbon around their hat, the dark silk standing out on the white, star-speckled cap. She shook her head a few times, giggling as the bell made an annoying Jingle Jangle sound. They turned back to Yang, who was staring at the wall. She huffed, snapping their fingers a few times.
" Brother? Sibling? YANG! " Yang snapped to attention, glancing around the room frantically before meeting his sister's gaze. " My apologies, sibling. " Their voice was low and timid, a contrast to their siblings loud expressions. She grinned, continuing on their little rant.
" They think just because we're weaker than them means that we can just be thrown around. Like the spirits! " Yang knew exactly who she was talking about. The damn Sun and Moon. They'd been.. Well, an unwanted variable. Ying seemed rather pleased with this plan she'd come up with, though.
" No need to panic, dearest brother, " something about the term Brother made
their
skin crawl. Maybe it was just nerves? They didn't know.
"I don't think this is a good idea, Ying.. "
Yang pulled at their sleeves. This was a bad idea. A REALLY bad idea. "So what? Didn't you say we--what was it? 'We shouldn't be looked down upon?' That's just what we're doing! Making sure that won't happen." She replied swiftly.
"But.. Do we really have to, y'know, kill people to do that?" Ying grinned, tilting her head towards them. "Of course it is. Listen, listen. What did that, er.. Sun tell you?" They thought for a minute. "That.. That we're weak."
"Exactly! The Sun and the Moon are gonna keep looking down on us, and so will everyone. To them, they think we can't, y'know, snap them in half if we want too." She held something out towards them, grinning.
They narrowed their eyes at the object.
The sharp blade gave it away almost instantly.
"No.. No, I can't--!" Ying shook her head. "Yang, you are my brother,
but if you aren't useful i won't hesitate to.. Get rid of you.
" That seemed to shut them up.. Or so they thought. They replied again. "Ying, i.. I don't kill people. What if someone sees me!?"
"So what if they do? It's none of their damn business,
brother.
"
Yang sighed, closing their eyes. "My sister.. There's no one else quite like my sister. That's a negative comment, by the way." They brought there knees up to there chest, lightly rocking back and fourth. Moon stood in front of them. He'd only asked for information about Ying. They couldn't help but be worried, though.
"Yang.""Yes?""You do realize how bad that is, right?""Excuse me?" Yang replied softly. Moon glanced around, sighing. "Yang, you just said your sister convinced you--against your will, if i might add--to kill someone. Someone i know. And you still think that's fine and dandy? Normal, even? Yang, you were manipulated. Gaslit."
"Excuse me?" Their voice was shallow, the tinge of remorse it once contained sapped out. Soon replaced by anger. " What gives you, the right, to just assume things about me!? " Yang stuck a finger in Moon's face, gritting their teeth. " Yang-- " Moon began, quickly being cut off.
" Do you want to know what you are, Moon? " They paused, inhaling sharply. " You are an ignorant, self-obsessed, WASTE OF A PERSON! DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY TIMES PEOPLE--Sun, Eclipse, those interns--have gotten hurt, because you're too busy worrying about yourself!? "
" Too many! You think you know everything about everything. But guess what!? You don't! You don't even know everything about yourself! Do you even know what you are, outside of a spirit? Do you know why you spend every day guiding the little spirits away, instead of not existing at all!? "
Truthfully, Moon barely understood anything about what they were saying. They were lying. Moon thought they knew that. Yang lied, just like his sister. "Yang.. You don't have to be like her." that hit home. They blinked, their eyes glossy. Yang clenched their fists, lowering their head.
" Get out Moon. "" What? "" I said GET OUT! "
Yang inhaled again, their voice a bit more strained than before. " Get.. Get out, Moon. Take control. Just.. Leave. Please. " Moon nodded slowly, turning and walking away. They paused. "I'm open to talk if you need it. Just..don't do anything rash. I'm giving you an out, it's your choice to take it."
And then they were gone.
