“I have good and bad news!” Tech announced as he entered their rented room. “I was able to get five costumes, however, two of them are dresses.”
Crosshair lifted his head off of Wrecker’s lap to grin. “I’ve always wanted to see Hunter and Echo in skirts.”
“Wait, why do you assume they are for us?” Echo demanded and Crosshair raised a leg pointedly.
“Do you really think there were any dresses there to fit Tech, Wrecker or me?”
“I am two inches shorter than you.”
“And yet, he isn’t wrong.” Tech said as he dropped a large bag on Echo’s lap.
“This thing weighs as much as a full kit does!”
“It is very puffy.”
Crosshair sat up and held out his hands for whatever Tech brought him, eyebrow raising when he saw the all white ensemble. “Are you trying to make me invisible?”
“You’re a snow king.” he said with a shrug. “Clearly you’ll be all white.”
“Tech, how much money did you spend?” Hunter asked as he pulled out a long white wig. “This looks expensive.”
“We want to blend in, yes?” he demanded. “These Imperial fat cats are going to be very, very wealthy. A bargain bin costume is not going to be good enough.”
“Omega is going to be so sad she missed this.” Wrecker laughed while putting on a tall dark blue hat.
“We’ll take holos.” Tech said with a shrug.
“Tech, what exactly are we?” Hunter had set aside the wig and had pulled out a long, silky white dress. “This is a slip.”
“No, that is a dress. There is a lace overcoat for it. Though, I wouldn’t really call it a coat. I don’t think it will keep you warm.”
“This slit will go to my thigh!”
“Good thing you have nice thighs.”
He glared. “You still didn’t answer my question.”
“You are the snow queen to Crosshair’s snow king. Echo’s is a sugarplum fairy, mine is called cavalier, and Wrecker is a nutcracker. It is from a show of significance here.”
“What a beautiful royal pair we make.” Crosshair grinned at Hunter. “I get a fancy five piece suit, you get to be half naked. I think it's perfect.”
Hunter glared at him and Tech snorted.
“Well, your back will be on display.”
“What?!” he exclaimed, pulling the tops out to see that the back of both shirt and vest were completely sheer while the back of the coat was a lace design of snowflakes. He eyed it in annoyance for a moment and then shrugged.
“Well, at least I won't accidentally flash anyone.”
“Fuck you, Cross.”
“Sorry, kitten. We have to get ready for a party.”
He laughed and caught the shiny white high heel that Hunter tossed at him before it hit him in the head. He then studied it and raised a perplexed eyebrow.
“How are you supposed to walk in those?”
“Exactly! I am really beginning to regret taking this mission!”
Crosshair knew he didn’t mean that. They all knew how important it was to find the coordinates for the clone slave camp. But he understood the sentiment. The plan had just been to break into the base and have Echo hack into their systems. They hadn’t realized that the planet was in the middle of some sort of winter festival, though. Which meant the entire town was
full
of celebrating citizens. The base included. So, a simple break in had changed to an undercover operation. And a holiday party was
not
Crosshair’s idea of a pleasant mission.
He was starting to change his mind on that, though. While, yes, he had to dress up and that was horrible, his loves did too. And seeing the four of them dressed to the nines was well worth it. Especially Hunter.
Wrecker looked dashing as what he was sure was a toy soldier, the formal red jacket suiting him perfectly even if the tall blue hat was really odd. Tech looked suave in a form fitting, classy plum and white suit. Echo, despite his slightly put upon expression, was beautiful in the puffy plum dress he was forced to wear. The long white gloves and elegantly curled purple wig added to the look, and though Crosshair knew Echo would kill him if he ever voiced this opinion, complimented him perfectly. And Hunter, well. The only word to describe him was sexy.
It didn’t matter that he had a shy, unsure look on his face. The sleek wig and even sleeker dress gave him an illusion of height he didn’t have. And while, yes, the giant heels helped, it was absolutely the long, bare leg that sold it. From the moment Crosshair laid eyes on him, it took all the strength he had to not keep his gaze locked on where white silk met bare thigh. It took even more restraint to keep his hands to himself.
Restraint that he lost nearly the moment they gained entry to the Imperial base. He, Hunter and Wrecker were meant to be lookouts for Tech and Echo as they slipped away from the party in order to break into the base’s systems. Crosshair had no intention of allowing harm to come to them, but he was also unable to resist guiding Hunter away from the dancing, tables and crowds of socializing Imperials.
“We’re supposed to be keeping watch.” Hunter muttered pointedly, eyes flickering to Crosshair’s arm around his waist as he maneuvered them to a dark corner.
“We can both see perfectly fine back here.” Crosshair pointed out. “You know that.”
“Yes, but I have a feeling we aren’t coming back here to stand and watch the room.”
“Oh? Whatever gave you that idea?” he asked, crowding Hunter into the cool metal wall.
“A lot of things.” Hunter replied softly. “But the fact that you are only looking at me makes it pretty obvious.”
“How can I look anywhere else?” he asked, fingertips slowly running from Hunter’s knee upwards. “You’re far too tantalizing to tear my eyes from.”
“Sweet talking isn’t going to win you points here.” Hunter claimed, but his voice hitched as Crosshair’s touch reached the seam of his dress.
“That so?” he asked huskily. “Seems like it is to me.”
“Tech and Echo…”
“Are very, very capable soldiers.” he whispered, ducking his head to press his lips to Hunter’s ear. “And they aren’t alone. Wrecker is out there. We can take a couple minutes.”
“Cross…”
“Shh.” he trailed his lips across Hunter’s cheek to his lips. “They won’t even notice. Just a couple minutes.”
Hunter let out a shaky breath and nodded. “Okay. Just a couple minutes.”
Crosshair gave a victorious grin and then slotted their mouths together, dragging out a moan from Hunter as he pressed his full body against him. The hand that had been lightly and teasingly brushing against the other’s thigh flattened against him, wrapping around the soft limb as far as it could and hoisting it up to wrap around his waist. His thumb rubbing into Hunter’s inner thigh had him groaning again and Crosshair grinned once more.
He had just begun to inch his hand a little higher and to the left, Hunter letting out a small whimper of his name, when Tech’s voice sounded through the comms.
“Echo has the data, though I am unsure if either of you cares.”
“Shit.” Hunter gasped. “The comms…”
“Were on? Yeah.” Echo replied. “We have what we came for, but we are going to need a distraction to get out of here safely. And, preferably, one where you both keep your clothes on.”
“That's not really a deterrent, Echo.” Wrecker said with a snicker. “I’m pretty sure that they can fuck without removing, well. Anything.”
“That is not a challenge!” Tech said quickly. “Please, refrain from public sex in an Imperial compound!”
“We are far more classy than that.” Crosshair scoffed as he lowered Hunter’s leg from where he had lifted it up around his waist.
Echo snorted. “Classy my ass. Just, please get the attention on you somehow that doesn’t involve potentially getting arrested.”
“Don’t worry, pretty boy. We will.” he said, stepping back and offering his white gloved hand to Hunter. “Dance with me?”
“He means dance, right?” Wrecker snickered and Hunter sighed heavily as he accepted Crosshair’s hand.
“Yes, Wrecker. Dance.” he stated firmly and then softer to Crosshair added, “I am never letting you talk me into anything ever again.”
“We both know that is a lie.” he whispered back as he led him out to the dance floor. “Especially because you’re letting me talk you into an extravagant dance right this second.”
“Who said anything about extravagant?” he asked with a furrowed brow and Crosshair grinned.
“Echo did when he asked for a distraction.” he replied, pulling him flush up against him. “Ready to dazzle, my love?”
He chuckled and set his hand on Crossshair’s shoulder, the other one squeezing the hand within it. “Lead the way.”
Crosshair grinned and as soon as the song changed over began to lead Hunter through a dance much more elaborate than it really needed to be, but he was going to pull all these eyes onto them even if it meant showing off. Who was he kidding, especially if it meant showing off. Bringing out the bright eyed, wide grinned expression on Hunter’s face was just icing on the cake.
Seeing Echo and Tech among the crowd cheering when they came to a stop was what really mattered, though. Their distraction worked, the mission was completed and now all they had to do was enjoy themselves at an extravagant party. As far as bad batch missions were concerned, this one was an all around success. Important objective was achieved, his team looked gorgeous, and he was able to convince Hunter to have a little extra fun. Now all he needed to do was convince
Echo
to join them in that same dark corner.
He knew that wouldn’t happen, but at the very least now all five of them could enjoy themselves. A rarity in itself, and one that Crosshair had every intention of taking enthusiastic advantage of.
