All New Year's night, a snowstorm raged over Vermont. But as soon as the first morning of 2024 arrived, the blizzard subsided, and the sun appeared from behind the clouds, as if symbolizing a good omen.Sarah Connor entered the kitchen and saw the steaming coffee pot already on the table. "Cameron is as impeccable as always," she thought, smiling slightly. She poured herself a full cup of hot drink, and inhaling the perfect aroma of coffee, took a sip.A minute later, a quiet knock sounded at the door of their small house nestled amidst the snow-covered mountains. Sarah placed the cup on the table and approached the door, pondering who it could be.Sarah opened the door and couldn't believe her eyes. Standing on the doorstep was a young girl with fiery red hair peeking out from under a ski hat, and a radiant smile on her beautiful face."Savannah!""Mom!" - the girl rushed into the arms of the woman she had considered her mother for over ten years and hugged her tightly.Sarah hugged her daughter tightly.Cameron entered the hallway at the commotion and froze in surprise, watching what was happening."Look at our guest, Tin Miss" - Sarah said.Cameron approached and hugged Savannah - "How did you manage to get here? And why didn't you call to warn us?""You know I couldn't miss congratulating you. I wanted to make a surprise. When I realized the roads were snowed in, I contacted the mountain rescuers, and they brought me here on a snowmobile," - the girl explained."We know how determined you are," - Sarah smiled at her."She's just like you," - Cameron added."And she has your stubbornness," - Sarah teased.The trio entered the cozy living room, where a small fireplace crackled in the corner next to a decorated Christmas tree."What's new in Los Angeles? How's your studies at the university? How's everyone there?" - Sarah asked."I'm preparing for a cybernetics course. Our folks are doing fine. Sabina, Felicia, and Tarissa send their regards," - Savannah replied."And how's John?" - Sarah asked hopefully."John is fine. He's very busy with some new project. He went to a New Year's party at Zeira Corp. Catherine sent an invitation to both of us, but instead, I decided to come here," - Savannah said."You did the right thing. You know how much we love you," - Sarah couldn't hide her emotions and hugged her daughter again.Their meeting was full of emotions and joy. Savannah told them about her adventures over the past few months, her studies at the University of California, and how she decided to make this unexpected visit on New Year's.Soon they decided to take a walk in the snow-covered mountains. All three dressed in warm jackets and mittens and went outside. The sun sparkled on the snowy landscape, and the air was filled with freshness and purity. They walked in silence, enjoying the moment and the beautiful views that unfolded before them.Upon returning home, they had a real New Year's celebration and prepared a delicious dinner. When evening came, they lit garlands and candles and sat by the fireplace, reminiscing about the times when Savannah was still very young. Sarah took out an old photo album from the closet, and they looked through the photos together, recalling funny moments from past New Year's celebrations.Their evening was filled with warmth, coziness, and happiness. Savannah felt that no other holiday could compare to the magic they created together.
