Work Text
hi! my name is ebbott and this is the first story i'm attempting in roughly ~6 years this is based in world of munchymc and a computer screen, except instead of skeppy being a griefer, he is a thief instead. being within a computer is like being able to check emails and join minecraft, but the characters listed are not actual people. there's no one actually using a computer to control badboyhalo and skeppy.. think of it like, that inside world from wreck it ralph, except not as big. if this storyline confuses anyone, please ask questions , comments or concerns here <3 i have not written in so long and kind of wanted to try again. let's see how this goes. thank you. note: when a textbox comes up in italics, that's a message that someone is receiving that is not in conversation. think of textbox in italics being from like a text message. text boxes that aren't are just read in normal conversation. when a textbox comes up in bold letters, that's the chapters main character responding to said message. ex: "Skeppyyyyy how are you?" Bad messaged Skeppy via Telegram. "i'm good how are you?" Skeppy responded back in less than a minute. "I'm great thank youuu :D""I'm so happy that Skeppy is doing great," Bad set the phone down, relieved for his friend. if anything is confusing, please let me know 😖 this introduction will be updated more as anything else requiring clarification is added, so if confused ever, refer to this before commenting. also written on wattpadthank you, enjoy ~
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"I'll see you all tomorrow on stream, yeah?
Of course I will~ gn you potatoes :3"
BadBoyHalo has left the serverBadBoyHalo had just clicked off of his server, MunchyMC, supposedly for the night. Munchy, one of Bad's current lifelong projects, racked up players as the years went on and slowly but surely became one of the biggest servers during that period on Minecraft, known for its active community and fun events. The owner, BadBoyHalo, runs the show and behind the curtains too; constantly making sure all properties work along all devices, checking codes, reading through ban appeals. All of the time that you think a Minecraft server owner would have because, it's just a video game? Alas, would be surprised on the copious amount of work Bad puts on himself. However, maybe it's just Bad piling all of that onto himself for other reasons. It's not like his work doesn't pay off either; Munchy averages 60-110 members on a normal day, and on days that he's streaming on YouTube, it ranks up to the two and three hundreds. It's all thanks to the work Bad does, so can he really complain? Bad planned to stream tomorrow too, as he did every Saturday, slightly excited for the amount of players his server may gain during his streaming hours. He even tweeted about it, which he hasn't done in VERY long. It read:BadBoyHalo: ITS TIME! Stream on Saturday at 7:30pm for all you memers to come hang out on MunchyMC <3 Hope to see you there owoChecking his emails before he clicked off for the night, it was mostly all of the regular things. Various ads for different assortments of games and social medias, influencers begging him to check out their channels. There were a few emails that related to Munchy and some bugs Bad would deal with later, because only God knows how long he's been working for already. Quickly glancing through them all however, one particular caught his eye;
To whom it may concern;
The fame has gotten to your head, you are losing yourself to what you stand for and you don't even understand it. Tomorrow at 7:55pm, 25 minutes after MunchyMC's stream will begin and the owner along with most admins will be too busy to watch out for any hackers. A man with a blue, diamond shaped mask will appear, stealing various codes and kits from random players within KitPVP. 3 things will be taken from Munchy tomorrow night: code, kits and confidence. I hope to see you there, Mr. Halo.
From, The Phantom Thief of Diamonds
Bad knew he shouldn't have sent out that tweet about his stream tomorrow. He read it over, again and again, trying to make sense of the words written onto the screen; his confidence? What did that mean? Bad is confident in what he does. While he assumed it was just some random troller trying to trick his server into submission, he still got a few of the heebie-jeebies wondering what this could be about. So, he messaged Callahan. "Callahan, I need your help," Bad typed out onto MySpace. "Uuuuuuuugh @Callahan @Callahan @Callahan @Callahan"No response came for a while, roughly 10 seconds. Bad felt stupid for even worrying about a dumb spam email anyway, and was about to click off and just go to bed for the night when:"hi.""Callahan. I need your opinion," Bad grinned, messaging back almost instantaneously."what," roughly 3 minutes later."I recieved this odd email earlier today, something about a thief on Munchy tomorrow?
I'll send you a screenshot
Any idea on what it means?" Bad typed so fast his fingers nearly flew off. Going back to his email before closing it for good, Bad sent Callahan a photo of the letter.
"erm
what the f
i don't know that's really weird lol
probably some guys weird prank or fetish
i wouldn't worry about it tho lol
i'll keep an eye out""Yeah... Probably so T.T I guess we'll see tho haha.
Ok, that's perfect. Thank you
Have a good night ragamuffin"Bad clicked out of MySpace. It didn't matter anyway, probably some random hacker that would be banned a second after getting on. The most Bad will have to do is maybe give someone Elite for a week for a stolen kill (or something) and it'll all be fine. That's what he told himself anyway, as Bad turned off his monitor and went to bed for the night. - The next day went just about as normal as Bad could've expected. No weird hackers, some annoying donations sure; but it's not unexpected. His stream went just about as it usually did, maybe a few 50 or so more members than usual thanks to the tweet sent the night prior. His servers' player count skyrocketed too- it was going to be a good Saturday evening for MunchyMC and BadBoyHalo. They were playing Red Rover, one they play only every few weeks rather than every one like Simon Says. As the stream progressed into the night, people kept joining, wanting to be a part of the stream. Everything went according to plan, all through the stream. Maybe a few problems progressed after the stream ended, but it's fine. Right after stream ended, a person spamming in chat caught Bad's attention. He was about to just mute them, until he read what they were actually saying to him;"bbh help me!
i don't know where my kits went
it said I had access to basically all of them except for vacuum
now it says i only have pvp and archer
bad please
that took so long to get to :(
@BadBoyhalo
you better be trolling"Bad read it over a few times, assuming trolls or something. His mind flashed, however, to a particular message he was sent the night prior:"A man with a blue, diamond shaped mask will appear, stealing various codes and kits from KitPVP."Thoughts swirled through his head, thoughts of failure taking the forefront of his brain. He teleported to the spammer, finding a seemingly newbie player at the corner of the map. "What... Happened?" Bad almost began, before several pings from moderators and players caught his eye."badboyhalo," Callahan."badboyhalo??" RedVelvetCake. "something is wrong with kits spawn," Callahan messaged again. "come quick, wtf did you do???
it has been going on for a while now apparently"
Bad quickly scrolled through his mod list which is currently online, teleporting iNateCo to the kit-less person. "Hey," Bad spoke to his senior moderator, slightly concerned. "There's something wrong with the server, whatever this player says, they're telling the truth. Help them out, will you?""Sure thing, boss," Nate went to go help the kit-less solve their issues. Meanwhile, Bad went to go fix the issue at KitPVP's spawn. - Really, what happened at Kit's spawn was a simple error that was easy to fix, but did do quite a headache of damage. The code for no PVP at spawn was deleted, resulting in many people getting constantly spawn killed and havoc. It was an easy fix on Callahan's part, and while many were a little startled by what had happened, no serious damage was done. Bad was thankful for the fact, however, something else was nabbing at him. There wasn't anything in console showing who did it or why. However, Bad was able to retrieve a time that people started to complain. 7:55pm.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
"What the muffin..?"The following day, Bad found something.. slightly unexpected. Through his YouTube notifications, one caught his eye that he wouldn't have expected. Skeppy mentioned you in a video.Bad wasn't... 100% sure on how that worked, but it was irrelevant. Skeppy? Might just be a random fan tagging him in an edit or them playing on his server.. Probably unimportant, but Bad has some serious jitters after what happened to his server the day prior. Whatever, you Skeppy person... Besides, he likes to engage with his community all the time. He's sure it's not anything bad. He clicked on the video, processing the title:
So I Logged Onto MunchyMC And Did This...
"Hm," Bad cleared his throat "Okay. Ten minute video... Let's see." It was taken on video? The thief.. turned themselves in?The video started off simple enough, a vlog from a player on his server. The camera is being held by a separate camera man, facing a rather.. peculiar looking boy. "Yooo, how's it going guys?" The man said excitedly through the screen. 'This must be Skeppy,' Bad concluded, before continuing the video. Overall, Skeppy was rather normal looking. He had tan skin and hair so dark brown it almost qualified to be black, sides shaved all around. He was wearing a rather blue outfit, simple blue hoodie with a derpy face on the hood and black jeans. He looked like the next guy, except for one thing.. Skeppy wore a blue diamond shaped masquerade mask, covering over his eyes and the bridge of his nose. It wasn't abnormal however; lots of people add their own little twists to their outfits! Bad, for example, was literally a demon. He didn't know why he kept focusing on the mask so hard, but for some odd reason, it gave him the chills.He continued to watch. "..Yeah, and I guess we will just see what happens when I completely destroy. Munchy. MC." "..Kidding!! Kidding, come on, come ONN," Skeppy flew off screen, which caught Bad mega off-guard. What the muffin.. How did this guy get OP?BadBoyHalo continued to watch Skeppy fly around and mess with the server. He joined during Bad's stream, just as he suspected, while him and all of his mods would be too busy to watch for something like this to happen. Bad was already online and banning Skeppy's account, skimming through the video to double check all of this is confirmed to be from the supposed thief. Alas, Skeppy did everything he said he would in the note. He stole kits, he stole code... He stole Bad's confidence?Blah. Blasphemous. Confidence was just added to create alliteration in his note, it wasn't actually anything serious. Right?BadBoyHalo assumed, or moreover hoped that Skeppy was a one-and-done deal, Munchy trolling just being a one time Youtube idea and he'll never log on again. And besides, Skeppy was already banned- what more could he do? Grief purgatory? That place was already trashed. It was definitely funny enough to tell someone about it though, and considering... Bad didn't have many friends, he resided back to Callahan for his daily dose of tea. "...And I mean, it's crazy, right? Because how in the WORLD did some random Youtuber get admin rank, let alone get access to the code of the game and toy with it? I don't know... He didn't do a lot, but I feel like he would do more if he wanted to." Bad grinned, awaiting a response.......
yeah that's crazy man
Okay, maybe Callahan wasn't the MOST fun to gossip with. Maybe he takes a second to respond and has the slowest typing speed ever. But he's listening to Bad complain, and it's at least the thought that counts. Bad said his good nights to Callahan and ended call, playing excuses that he needed to work on some things inside the server. But, really, he just wanted some time to think. Who was this guy? What was the purpose of trashing the server if he was going to post about it and get himself banned? Is there a reason, or did he think it would just be some good content? Bad clicked on the account and began to scroll, but everything on there was relatively normal, Minecraft YouTuber things. He knows he shouldn't be thinking about it so hard, but the nonchalance about it all gave him serious heebie-jeebies. Ugh. This was making his tummy hurt. With a groan, Bad turned off his monitor for the night and headed to bed. All of this will be forgotten about by the time the morning comes.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
He loved it.Skeppy absolutely loved it. He loved the grind, the rush it gave him everytime he hit post onto a new YouTube video. Watching the numbers climb, the views just stacking in. The continuous rise of the like button constantly reaching higher peaks than he ever could've imagined, people in his comment section just raving on how much they adored their favorite YouTuber.God, I mean- fuck. Skeppy desired the attention it gave him. He craved for it. Everytime he posted a new video, a near chemical overreaction surged within him just taking in the numbers, and the eyes on him. So, when he finally figured out how to get on MunchyMC and be able to toy around with it, and the incredible increase on viewers those videos in specific made him... It's practically all he can think about.And I mean, Skeppy didn't steal because he doesn't like MunchyMC or something. It's not because he has some weird grudge or infatuation on BadBoyHalo or one of the many admins; he's not a creep. It was more for his personal enjoyment, the content it creates and the surge of energy that runs through his veins at the thought of all of those eyes on him. Skeppy didn't want to hurt BadBoyHalo willingly, but he has to do what generates the most revenue to his name. The letter he wrote to BadBoyHalo wasn't actually anything serious.. The fame has gotten to your head? That would be stupid. Maybe a scare tactic... Or, maybe he was just helping him.However, at some point, one of Skeppy's closer friends even commented on the way his impact changed Munchy."Dude, have you SEEN that MunchyMC server after you posted that video? The owner's running it like a prison." Zelkam and Skeppy have been on InvadedLands for 30-ish minutes, recording some stupid YouTube video of trolling his hackers.. or something. They had just finished, and were about to get off the server when Zelk began talking."Bro, what?" Skeppy suddenly stopped jumping around, turning to face his friend."Oh yeah, you haven't heard? He's going crazy, adding like a daily check-in with some of his regulars and hiring some new mods from different timezones to watch over his server while he can't.. it's actually pretty funny. I found out because I'm friends with one of his devs," Zelk pulled out a bag of chips from his inventory and stuck 3 or 4 chips in his mouth, chewing quite loudly.Skeppy moved away from him, nose flared in disgust. "That's crazy. And also fucking hilarious." Zelk and him kept talking, catching up, but Skeppy wasn't listening to the words being said. He was thinking, however, of his very next video idea.Unfortunately, this would need some planning, which is something Skeppy absolutely hates doing.-To whom it may concern;You have seen the post online and have become wary. Do not fear, I am not hear to hurt you. Tomorrow at 3:14am, directly after you typically get off of MunchyMC for the night. A man with a blue, diamond shaped mask will appear, unbanning various hackers as he sees fit, as well as stealing various kills and statistics throughout the servers code. I hope you'll be there to join me, Mr. Halo.From, The Phantom Thief of Diamonds"I spelt here wrong- shut up, okay?? I just neeeed BadBoyHalo to see this so he will get on and try to baaaaan me," Skeppy whined into the camera, glancing at his watch for the time. 10:37pm.Going to send a new email to his favorite server's owner other than.. Himself, he sent it, making a note in his head to censor out Bad's email address. "Okay, I'll see you guys in roughly 5 hours to fulfill my deeds~"And he stopped recording, following exactly what the note said he would do.Skeppy barely slept for the 4 quick hours before his plan was supposed to go into action. He hopped onto Minecraft around 3:12am, yawning as he loaded back up his recording software.3..2..1..... "Hey guys, it's 3 in the morning.. and I'm so tired." Skeppy loaded himself into MunchyMC as he commentated lazily into his mic. "Unfortunately, I can only follow exaaactly what I say I will in the note... Or else I would just be being a complete ass." With a lazy giggle, at exactly 3:14am, Skeppy loaded into KitPvP and begun his duties.
