Sitting down on her bed, Uzi groaned as she stretched.Her tail moved around as she did so. A little hiss left it as it looked around. In recent weeks, she had decided that she didn’t half mind her tail being out on occasion. It made her look badass. Some of her classmates even stopped picking on her due to it becoming snappy at them. She liked it like that. At least they weren’t bullying her.Sighing, she looked over to N to say something. He was sitting on top of the bed facing her. The disassembly drone and her had become a lot closer recently. Close enough to the point that they had started to date. He loves her more than anything. Not hard enough to leave any injuries thankfully. The taller drone giggled as her tail kept doing what it was doing. Uzi let out a little laugh at how cute N was being. Then her tail did something neither of them expected. It pressed its snout against N’s crotch. N froze as Uzi quickly grabbed her tail. She’d get off him though if he wanted.“I can fulfill that interest of yours, N. Do you want that?”N was staring up at her in shock. His breath hitched before he swallowed. Looking up at Uzi. Opening her mouth to reveal her fangs. The disassembly drone squirmed a bit as she did so. “Righty-o! It should be the way!”J sighed as she watched Tessa bound away from her. Following close behind so the human didn’t get injured by anything. She loves the human but sometimes she could not believe how much energy she had. Especially on a planet where a lot of things want to kill you.“Tessa, slow down!”She flew after the human as she jumped over an abandoned car. Not paying attention to anything that was around her. Tessa was lost in her own world. Something J had noticed shortly after Cyn killed the entire mansion except for them plus V and N. A coping mechanism that worried J more than it probably should.“Don’t worry so much J! It’s not like anything will collapse underneath me.”Which is exactly what happened. The sidewalk she had started to walk over caved into itself. Tessa let out a yell of surprise as J dove after her. Thankfully, the fall wasn’t too far off the ground. Tessa now sitting in the dirt with a hiss of pain. J landed right next to her to make sure she was okay. Her hands out to make sure she didn’t injure herself further. She had heard the hiss of pain.“Robo-Jesus Tessa…”Tessa shrugged her shoulders.“At least I didn’t die!”J was about to kill Tessa herself. Letting out a sigh, she began to study the human for her injuries. She then saw Tessa’s injured foot. It was twisted from the fall. Not broken but injured.“Looks like you twisted your ankle.”Tessa was silent for a second and only a second.“Oh, that’s nothing.”“Nothing?! Tessa, this means that we can’t go out and find the labs for a bit. That’s our mission and I want to finish it as soon as possible.”“But, that means we can cuddle while I heal!”J couldn’t help but sputter at Tessa looking on the bright side of this. She had also been wanting to finish this mission so they could hang out more. Especially not on a dead planet. The cuddling sounded nice though.“Damn it Tessa…”She let out a sigh as she picked her up. Carrying her in a bridal-like style as she flew out of the hole. Abandoning their previous plans to look for the labs. Her sudden flight startled Tessa who grabbed onto her like a lifeline. J couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle at the movement. A mischievous smile on her face as she flew a bit faster. The human buried her face into J with a yelp as she picked up speed. Eventually, J made her way to the ship she and Tessa had arrived in. Landing in front of it as snow got kicked up. Making a small empty spot of ground that would be covered again soon.“J, don’t ever do that again.”Tessa was shaking a bit in J’s arms as she pushed open the door to the ship with her body. The disassembly just laughed as she bent down to “kiss” Tessa in her arms. Bonking her head against where Tessa’s forehead would be when not covered by the suit. Closing the ship’s door with her leg. Walking deeper into the small ship, J placed Tessa on a chair before going off in a certain direction.“No promises. Now, do you want to watch a movie?”Tessa laughed as J dug through a cabinet.“I thought you wanted to get finding the labs over with.”J turned around with some bandages in her hands. Pointing a finger at Tessa with a small, almost unnoticeable blush.“I do. I don’t want you to suffer alone or whatever.”She then went back over to Tessa and pulled over a nearby box to prop the human’s foot on. Taking off her boot as Tessa removed the helmet covering her face. Dropping it onto the ship’s floor with a small bang. A sigh left her as she watched J wrap her foot up. The two said nothing until J was certain that the bandages wouldn’t come unwrapped.“There, now you’re not allowed to walk with an injured foot. I know you will say that you can handle yourself but let me help you, Tessa. The quicker you heal the quicker we can get this job done with.”The last sentence she said could have easily been mistaken for her being upset or even angry. Tessa knew that she wasn’t though. It was just how she expressed how much she cared for the human.“Oh come on J, I know you love to cuddle with me! You’ve been so busy on this planet that we haven’t had any time to hang out.”J sighed as she pulled over another chair to sit by Tessa.“I’ve missed you a lot. I want to get this over with so we can just find another planet to live on. Not having to worry about this Solver bullshit.”The human nodded in understanding, feeling a similar way to her partner.“I do too, J. JCJenson has been… particularly silent about other solver controllers in this system. I think we’re close to done.”“I sure hope so. I don’t think I can take any more of hunting down drones.”The disassembly leaned back in her chair and stretched. Her tail swished around a bit in thought.“Sure it’s fun but I hate how it’s kept us from each other. If they try to send me off on another mission, they can kiss my-”“J, I get it. I don’t like that they’ve kept us from each other for this long either. The only problem being that JCJenson would do a lot worse if they found out about us.”“Fuck them.”Tessa looked at the drone with shock.“J-”“FUCK THEM! Why does it matter who we date?! Sure I’m a disassembly and you’re a human but we’re happy! Why does that matter?”She groaned as she covered her face with her hands.“I love you so much, Tessa. JCJenson is just afraid of people wanting to kiss drones. I’m intelligent, we’re both adults, and I can speak for god's sake. It’s not right my ass.”J looked over to Tessa who had a sympathetic look on her face.“J, I’m extremely sorry about them. I wish that they weren’t so dumb. For now, though, we have to keep this a secret. I don’t want you to be scrapped.”The drone let out a sigh as she nodded.“I know.”Tessa then smiled. A hand was placed on J’s arm as she gestured towards the TV in the ship.“Let’s not focus on that right now. How about we watch West Side Story? I know you like that one.”J couldn’t help but chuckle. She did enjoy that film.“Alright, fine. If you cry again then we’re not watching it again for a month.”The human let out a laugh. Knowing very well that the threat was empty.“Oh alright. You don’t see me complaining when you cry during Lion King.”“Shut up! It’s a sad movie.”J crossed her arms and pouted. Tessa laughed again as she tried to get closer. Placing a kiss on J’s cheek.“I’ll let the big, bad disassembly drone keep her honor for once.”J gently swatted her away as she stood up. Trying to act upset about the teasing.“When I get the chance I’ll expose you for crying during Finding Nemo.”Tessa did a fake gasp as J grabbed the DVD collection.“My own drone!”J just chuckled as she grabbed the West Side Story DVD and put it into the DVD player. Going back over to Tessa and sitting down on her lap. Holding onto her as she buried her face into her neck. Purring slightly.“At least it’s not V. She wouldn’t be so nice about it.”Tessa laughed softly as she kissed the top of J’s head. Just enjoying the small moment they were sharing. Even as the TV sprung to life and started to play the movie trailers. The two stayed like that for a bit. Just enjoying each other’s presence until the main menu showed up. J needed to move to actually start the film. Once it was started, J went back to her spot. Still purring but much more focused on the film. The human couldn’t help but smile as she hugged J closer.Both of them wished that this moment would last forever.

“Day 50. Subject 002, Nori, has become more aggressive in the past few days.”Tessa let out a sigh as she stared at the large cage in front of her. A tape recorder in one hand. The one-way glass allowed her to look into the cage but the subject couldn’t see her back. At least she sure hoped so. There was no knowing if the glass truly worked on the subjects infected with the Absolute Solver. She didn’t want Nori to escape and beeline it to her. She wanted to live thank you very much.“None of my assistants have been able to get close to her in the past few days. All except for a worker drone named Khan. We have been relying on him to take vitals and make sure she is stable. So far she hasn’t been showing any signs of distress or hunger. Eating normally and even acting like herself when he’s around. Sometimes she becomes overly aggressive when Khan tries to touch her but hasn’t attacked him. This behavior is almost similar to an animal protecting something. We don’t know why she is acting like this though. Will update you as we continue to study her. Tessa James Elliott signing off.”Sighing, Tessa pocketed the recording device in her coat. Staring directly at Nori who was fast asleep. The once worker drone now an almost eldritch being. Looking similar to something that was if a slug and a cat had a baby. Cute looking on the outside but very dangerous. A black, unknown substance covered Nori, dancing around her body in an almost protective manner. Her eyes were one of the only truly distinguishing features that made identification easy. Purple. A very bright purple. Even as she crawled around her cage and lay in a lump of nothing, Tessa could tell it was her. The spikes on her tail that looked like spears helped also.Looking over to an open door, she spotted Khan talking with another drone. Liam, she believed his name was. Didn’t really matter to her though. The workers were a bit terrified of her and she couldn’t blame them. She found and caught Nori with her own hands. Her close friend and assistant, Jane, helped her with the process. Even if she was just a prototype of a special kind of drone built for this line of work. Khan seemed a bit off though as he had been recently walking with a slight limp. Something she couldn’t explain. He’s had it for a bit though. She knew damn well that Nori didn’t injure him. Drones would have been constantly screaming at her until her best friend yelled at them to shut up. Likely an injury he got from outside the workplace. At least she hoped it was. She didn’t want to explain to whoever came down here what she was doing.Unlike another planet in the system that was a dead and cold planet, the current planet she was on was full of life. A breathable environment that had a few human and drone colonies on it. All the planets she had visited treated the drones like they were just mindless robots. At least until she came to this one. The humans liked the drones here. Treating them as equals which made everything a lot easier to do. Drones weren’t mistreated so a lot didn’t speak out about secrets others held.JCJenson was a different beast but at least they paid the bills. Especially since she worked with one of the most dangerous creatures to ever exist. Nori used to be a worker drone. A very interesting one but she was a worker drone. Then she was infected with something that had also infected one of Tessa’s friends. It made her dangerous. Blinded by rage and bloodlust. Something that needed to be caught and controlled. Tessa was tasked with trying to heal and save Nori. Changing her back into a normal worker. The public wasn’t ever going to know about this. Walking away from the observation station, she walked past Liam and Khan. Lost in thought until she heard Khan say something.“That Nori is a handful sometimes! I love her but-”Tessa cut him off almost immediately.“Khan, she doesn’t have a stable mind. You and I both know this. I know she was once a worker but that intelligence is mostly gone. She can’t feel any love or attachment.”Khan went silent as Liam just looked at her. She could almost swear that he was glaring at her. Something that wasn’t like him at all. Assuming she was just seeing things.“O-Of course, Tessa. What if she did understand us though?”Had he been hiding something from her? This was extremely important information if so.“Well, that would be an extremely important discovery if so. You wouldn’t hide that from us now would you?”Khan shook his head as he laughed nervously.“Of course not! J-Just curious…”She sighed as she adjusted the lab coat she wore.“I want to discuss this more in the morning. It’s late and we all need some rest. Sleep well you two.”She then turned away from Khan and Laim. Making her way to the mini apartment that was set up in the lab for her. Questioning if she could even trust the workers she worked with. Sighing, she pushed that thought out of her head as she opened the door to her apartment. Letting it slam behind her as she threw off her lab coat. The couch looked very inviting but she held off on sitting down. She needed to eat. There wasn’t much in her fridge meaning she had to go to the surface to grab a few things soon. A trip she really didn’t want to make. The sunlight that entered her room was enough for her. Even if the lab was half jutting out of a cliff face overlooking an ocean. It was well hidden enough from the city not too far from them.After staring into her fridge for a few seconds, Tessa grabbed some leftover meatloaf that she had made the other night. She didn’t feel like making something else. Scooping it onto a plate, she began to think about Nori. There was no way she was more intelligent than what her group originally thought. She put her trust in the others to report any proof that Nori was more intelligent. If that trust was broken, she had no idea what to do.As she put her food into the microwave, she slammed the door to it a bit harder than needed. Putting in a time for it to cook before sitting down on a chair. It wasn’t the couch but it would do for now. As she sat there, her mind began to wander to her parents. Would they be proud of what she was doing? She was saving their butts from a monster who would happily kill them all. At least, that’s what she assumed. That’s what she was told. JCJenson was less trustworthy than any other company she’s worked for. She had to trust their word when working with something so dangerous. She didn’t want to harm Nori. Wanting to save her from whatever had gotten a hold of her. Even if the company refused to call her something other than her subject number.The harsh beeping of the microwave broke her thoughts. With a sigh, Tessa stood up and took out the meatloaf. Finally being able to sit down on the couch. As she sat down, she turned on the TV to the news. Wanting to see if there were any reports of strange activity or monsters. It was her job. One she swore to keep doing until she died. At least until she managed to control what was happening. She couldn’t wait for the specially designed drones to arrive for her though. They’d make everything easier. N and V. Noel and Vale. The names she had decided on. Deep down she hoped that J, or Jane, would get along with them. They would be a lot younger than Jane. Especially since they were coming to her as pill babies. It was cheaper that way. At least that’s what the company told her. They didn’t want to waste money on something that might not even work. This wasn’t how she saw herself becoming a mother but she would accept it. Even if Vale was from a different code from Noel.They’d be her mini family. A weird one but her own. Sighing, she finished her meatloaf and turned off the TV. There was nothing to report. Just normal news that wasn’t that interesting. A part of her hoped that with the two new drones in her family, the TV might begin to show more interesting things. Kid shows that would bring some life into the dull apartment she lived in. Standing up, she placed her plate on the coffee table. She had plans to deal with it in the morning. Mornings were never that crazy. That would never change. With a stretch, Tessa made her way to her bedroom and closed the door. I decided to start this report early today.”Tessa sighed into the tape recorder she held. Her morning was pretty boring like usual. Certain that nothing big was going to happen.“A worker of mine has been acting odd about Nori recently. I have plans to talk to him about it. He was asking if she had more intelligence than we thought last night. As he is the only one who’s been able to see her up close, I fear he may be withholding important information from us. I currently don’t know how to give him a proper punishment if he is. Nothing too harsh as he’s been good about giving us information but it is odd that he might be withholding info about her intelligence. Like normal Nori’s charts are-”Without warning, Jane ran towards her. A panicked look on her face.“Tessa, something is wrong with Nori.”Tessa’s eyes widened at those words. Releasing her finger from the button to record her daily report.“W-What?”“She’s in pain. Khan had just gone in to check on her when she suddenly collapsed. We don’t know what is happening.”This wasn’t the kind of excitement she’d been hoping for ever since taking this job.“Get the medic right now. I’ll be down to her cage as soon as possible.”Without any hesitation, Jane nodded and rushed past Tessa. As she did so, Tessa began to make calls to different departments. Ones that could help her if anything bad happened. She couldn’t afford for the asset to die. Any kind of help was needed. Running down towards Nori’s cage without stopping to breathe as she made the calls.Once there, she heard the pained howls of Nori. The eldritch creature was in much more pain than Tessa had expected. Standing around the entrance to the cage were multiple drones. Some were ready to help her in case something happened. Others were around another drone. Getting closer, she realized that it was Khan. The drone looked more panicked than her.“Khan!” She cried out to the drone. “What is happening in there?”He turned towards her before closing the distance between them. Breathing harder than she was.“Nori, she, I don’t know how to explain it. One second she was perfectly fine. Eating and drinking her normal rations when she suddenly froze and collapsed. I had to run out of there to call for help.”Tessa nodded as she approached the cage’s door. A pair of drones joined her as she entered the code for the first door. Some more drones and even humans joined the small group that had formed. Medics mostly. All ready to jump in if need be. As the first door slid open, Nori’s cries of pain died out. All that was left was silence.“Medic!” Tessa cried out to the group. “We need a medic over here!”A drone in pink ran through the group and approached her. She didn’t know the drone’s name. Right now, that didn’t matter. With a hiss, the second and final door opened allowing the four to make their way into the cage. A small flashlight was turned on as they made their way deeper into the cage. The two gun-welding drones were ready for if Nori attacked. It was always dangerous entering the cage no matter how well armed they were. Any firepower was appreciated though. Eventually, they made it to the small station the lab had set up for Nori to eat and drink from. The bowls were empty. Some food and water were knocked out of the bowls from Nori's collapse. Said creature not being where they had expected her to be. Was it a trap? A ruse to hunt them? Then, they all heard a small chirping come from the cave that was built inside the cage. Approaching it, the flashlight was shined into the dark cave when a pair of purple eyes looked into theirs. A snarl upon Nori’s face as she wrapped herself around something. The chirping got louder as Tessa got even closer. The other drones stayed behind in case they needed to help.“Nori, it’s okay. We just want to make sure you’re okay.”The beast didn’t drop her snarl but relaxed as Tessa held out her hands. Realizing that she just wanted to help. Letting out a more human sigh than what Tessa had expected, Nori raised an arm to reveal something no one had been expecting.
