“You can criticize me for something else now, little demon” Finished Tim“What you’re saying makes no sense, I don’t care if you like men or not Drake.” Damian said, looking almost offended by the idea. “It just increases your chance of finding someone from 0.5 to 1.”“Damian!! This sort of thing can’t be put into percentages!” Dick quickly exclaimed, hoping to avoid yet another argument between the two youngest Robins.Despite his intervention it didn't take long for the two to attack each other, but you could still see the relief on Tim's face behind his frustration.Damian as he walked towards his “brother” made a mental note to talk to him later and check on his two close friends, after all they were now suspects in his eyesBefore their quarrels having gone further Bruce who had not said a word since Tim's announcement stood up and stopped them before coming to hug his third adopted son in his arms, he first froze then tightened slightly his arms around the other's figure, the embrace was brief and surprising for everyoneDick looked proud and shocked next to Damian who he was holding by the arm and who had frozen to the point of not getting out of the hold and was simply staring at the two in front of him, Jason who was standing in the corner of the room whispered a “fuck” at the start of the action, and Alfred, faithful to himself, smiled gently as he collected the cups scattered in one of the living rooms of the residenceSilence reigned in the room until the end of the hug where Bruce calmly said "I'm glad you told us Tim, and know that the rules are the same regardless of gender." He left shortly after his sentence, leaving a new blank to fill the space."Mess ! “ Jason soon laughed as he stood up, “Bruce gave someone a hug! I swear he must not be feeling well for that to happen, honestly hats off Tim it was impressive.”“I must admit that it’s quite surprising of him but at least he took it well and be careful with your language Jay” Dick continued much more calmly “Are you okay Tim?” he asked, getting closer to himThe concern had not moved since the embrace and it was starting to seem worrying, he shuddered when Nightwing's alter ego came to place his hand on his arm, he slowly raised his head and a tear ran down his cheek, Dick then rushed to take him in his arms to reassure himTim just returned the hug, sniffing lightly, while Jason and Damian slipped away, claiming obligations to give them privacy.—------Damian who had left his things to study in the living room decided to just go to his room and talk with Jon, he would have liked to discuss his actions with his father but decided that now was not the time.He sat down on his bed and took out his phone in order to chat with his friend when he noticed that his friend had already contacted him.Jon > Damian: Hey, man! I would like to ask you some questions”“Yeah follow me” Tim started walking towards the elevator to get out of the basement wishing to find an unoccupied living room or maybe just go to his roomThe two youngest members of the family were now seated in an armchair opposite each other in one of the many living rooms of the mansion, looking at each other without saying anything.Tim was the first to break the silence; he simply questioned him about the reason for their presence.The young Arabian began to play with the end of his sleeve, a clear sign of his nervousness as he considered how to approach his thoughts with the person in front of him.They end up simply asking gently “Can we not be a man or a woman?”Tim didn't know what to say as his question swirled around in his head and silence reigned in the room.A few long seconds passed in silence and as Tim opened his mouth to answer his younger brother's question, he spoke first.“Forget it Drake I'll manage, sorry for your wasted time” Damian got up to leave as he apologized but the taller of the two held him back.“No, stay, I know it's important otherwise you wouldn't have spoken to me, and of course you don't have to be a man or a woman, there are many other options, but why ask me you that? ” Red Robin quickly exclaimed as he held the youngest not wanting to let him escapeDamian sighed deeply and sat back down before lowering his head towards his legs, staring at a spot on his pants, looking exhausted.It was at the same time 4:30 in the morning and they had both been patrolling for several hours, despite their obvious lack of sleep they both stayed in their places.Despite everything, they end up expelling their words: “I think I'm non-binary but it's not clear and since you're bi I wanted you to help me know what I am and if you repeat that to n “no matter who you will no longer see anything other than the wood of your coffin”Damian was actually nervous about her reaction and didn't want to appear weak, after all asking someone for help to figure out who you are isn't. Still staring at his hands resting on his legs, they did not notice the slight spark of understanding then the softness that settled in his eyes following his sentence.Tim just approached him slowly and smiled reassuringly.“I won't tell anyone, don't worry, and I'm glad you came to see me I know how much it must have cost you” Tim quickly placed his hand on the other's shoulder as a comforting sign before removing it not wanting to make him uncomfortable “Good and if you explained the situation to me a little more so I can help you”Damian backed away slightly from the other's movement but quickly calmed down nonetheless and began to make a list in his head which he then presented to the young man next to him.“I have a lot of trouble with the masculine terms used about me, and I don't see myself in other men, I also have a lot of trouble with my appearance, it's like this one doesn't was not consistent with my feelings and I am used to the league before it happened to me regularly but this is different I wouldn't know how to explain it”Tim came to sit next to him looking thoughtful, Damian moved slightly next to him, still a little nervous.“Actually this seems rather significant to me, I think both terms are good, most of the time non-binary is used to describe a wider spectrum of people feeling different gender but it remains used most of the time for non-gender, and agender it's simply when you don't feel any defined gender, after that it's up to you to know what you feel, plus a third neutral gender or none anyway it's up to you to see” Tim explained almost automatically before giving him a smile in which “But anyway you’re like me now”The youngest gave him a questioning look, not understanding, the taller of the two sighed before telling him “you’re queer too, stupid.”His face brightened as he understood then they replied in a more defensive tone “I already knew he was an idiot and don’t call me an idiot”Their words were enough to calm the atmosphere as they launched into yet another fight this one was much less aggressive and much more friendly than the others, they both smiled as they bickered.They continued like this for about ten minutes before their respective fatigue caught up with them and they had to lie down.As their fatigue slowly carried them into the world of sleep Tim murmured a soft “I like you too idiot” and he fell asleep while Damian smiled and soon fell asleep too.- - - - - - - - - -They both woke up, lying on the floor of the living room carpet, surrounded by a cushion and a blanket placed over them both, which they were almost certain was not there last night.Tim was the first to emerge, quickly getting up and looking around, he then took Damian by the shoulders, shaking him to wake him up.He quickly stood up, throwing his hands on his shoulders and pressed the other against the carpet before standing up when he realized the identity of his 'attacker'.“Drake, can you explain to me why you shake me like this in the morning? Have you gone totally crazy?” Exploded Damian barely getting upTim was about to answer when Cass appeared at the door frame with an amused smile.“Is the floor comfortable, boys?” She teased them. “I hope this blanket was enough for you, I couldn’t find anything warmer,” she inquired despite everything.The youngest of the three children turned around getting up, stretching quickly before heading towards the door with a simple “Hello Cain, that’s enough thank you” and they simply left.“Well, he’s not a morning person” Tim sighed, getting up as well, less in a hurry than worrying about his remark.“I guess, why were you two sleeping together? I thought you couldn’t stand yourself” she questioned, moving closer to fold up her blanket.The young man just shrugged his shoulders and headed towards the exit. “Who knows? We must have just dozed off.” was the only explanation given before disappearingCass quickly came out bringing her blanket while informing Dick and Steph of their action, she couldn't wait to see the chaos they were going to cause- - - - - - - -“Grayson listen to me I didn't want to sleep with him don't think that we reconciled or whatever other nonsense you imagine, and I didn't betray you either don't dramatize” Damian sighed as his big brother was lamenting through his phone.The unfortunate man who had heard him complaining for almost 10 minutes decided to settle back into his bed, recalling the name of his brother who did not stop, attracting the attention of Jason who was passing his room.“What happens to dickiebird this time?” he questioned as he walked through the door towards the youngest's bed.Damian pulled the phone away from his ear before answering, “I fell asleep next to Drake accidentally and Grayson has been raving and complaining about it for the last 10 minutes.”Jason seemed surprised at the first revelation and just chuckled at the second “that’s dick, don’t expect anything else from him.”“I hear you Jay! And don’t worry, the fact that our little brothers slept together doesn’t surprise you!” Exclaimed the oldest of the three through the cell phone“For the third time Dick we didn't sleep we just dozed off on the floor next to each other after we fought” Damian explained while trying to hide his frown when he used the term “ brothers” for the designersThey knew perfectly well that he didn't know but it wasn't the most pleasant thing to hear.While he was lost in his thoughts the other two were now chatting together not particularly worrying about the silence of the youngest.“If you want to chat use your own phone Todd and please return mine I have things to do.” They cut in despite everything while taking their phone back from the hands of the older man with an annoyed look.Jason just raised his hands in the air as a sign of peace, standing up at the same time“Calm down, mini demon, I’m going to call dickiebird myself, don’t bother attacking me”“Bye Bye Damian” greeted the taller before hanging upRed Hood's alter ego decided not to ask for his rest and left the roomAs silence reigned again in his room Damian decided to send a message to Jon giving him an appointment for a patrol in two days- - - - - - - -The two days long awaited by the two young people were finally over and they found themselves on a Gotham roof out of sight.They sat next to each other as Damian mentally prepared himself for his statement, quietly listening to Jon talk about god knows what.“And at that moment Kon comes and-” Jon didn’t have time to finish his sentence as Damian told him as calmly as possible “I’m non-binary”Silence reigned apart from the usual noises of Gotham that could be heard below. And ok I will be careful not to make any more mistakes from now on I promise”Young Robin had to admit not being aware of what was happening about the older superboy.They quickly accepted the explanation and just nodded before reminding Jon of their discussion before his announcement.So they started talking, Robin now feeling much lighter than when he arrived and happy to know that his friend would no longer misgender him.- - - - - - - -A few days had passed since he came out to his friend and Damian was finding it more and more difficult not to grimace and correct each person who disgendered him, he had the impression that it was even worse than beforeThey therefore decided to simply confess to them, so they called a family meeting as Tim had done a month and a few days earlier.Dick was the first to arrive soon followed by Cass, Bruce, Tim and not long after Jayson Steph and Duke arrived once everyone arrived Damian who was there before everyone arrived spoke up“Good since we are now all gathered in this room let me explain to you the reason for your coming: I have an announcement to make” They explained calmly to give themselves composure and be sure to accept whatever it was. reactionThey knew perfectly well that no one had said anything about Tim but they also knew that there is a difference between loving men and women and feeling neitherAs he took another breath of air before his announcement Dick took the opportunity to tell him that they were listening to himSo they just nodded before making their revelation: “I am non-binary for those who don't know, I therefore identify myself as neither woman nor man, so I would ask you to address me not in terms masculine but with neutral terms and the pronouns they/them and xe, thank you for your attention if you ever have a question I will listen to you”As they remained silent a silence filled the room and out of the corner of their eye they saw Tim giving him a thumbs up, he almost looked proudDick was the first to react - after Tim - he got up and crossed the room towards the center where Damian was standing for his announcement and came to hug him despite the latter's slight protest, he also whispered to him lightly. “I will always love you dami”The others did not take long to move in turn, coming together in the embrace - certainly the biggest they had ever shared - each saying a comforting or affectionate word to Damian as they added each other.They stayed like that for several minutes, calm reigning while they each appreciated the warm and comforting embrace, in addition to being a rare event in their family which made them stay longerFinally it was Damian who struggled to get out of the embrace complaining about their emotions but everyone could notice the slight smile and his moist eyes when they separated.“I suppose that was clear enough but I would like to clarify that we love and accept you Damian and that we will be careful not to misgender you in the future from now on” Bruce declared in a manner that left no room for doubt and which despite everything contained sweetnessThey all nodded at the words of the head of the family.“I appreciate this attention thank you father as well as all of you, thank you and you can now go back to your activities I had nothing else to talk to you”“Well if you are all free why not come and have dinner, ladies and gentlemen and others, I have set enough tableware for you all and it would be a shame to waste it” suggested Alfred, standing at the entrance to the room, looking almost moved.Everyone rushed to the kitchen after his proposal, no one will ever let Alfred's kitchen be ruined after allAnd while everyone was chatting while eating, Damian reflected on the fact that without Tim's coming out they certainly wouldn't have understood it so early and mentally thanked him for that before launching into a debate with Jason about the usefulness of swords in a pistol fight, he thought it was nice to finally know who we are.
