Demon! Izuku Midoriya:
Initially, he was always looked down upon due to not looking like the typical muscular or attractive demon. A demon who has the typical big horns on their head and essentially two wings. A demon with powers that are beyond moral dreams.
He didn’t have anyone teaching him. He never met his father and doesn’t even know if his moral mother still exists within the moral dimension.
His horns were small and chipped at the edge instead of having a sharp edge. He had only one wing due to being the offspring of a human and a demon. He didn’t have any powers such as fire, ice, or explosions.
It took him much more time to learn how to wing compared to the rest of the demons. Most of the people he grew up with in the area already knew how to fly at the age of 7. In hell, you would often see demon children flying around without a care in the world. For Izuku, it took him eleven years to be able to do it perfectly without crashing to the ground.
When the biannual ceremony around the summoning of a witch came around, a destined demon was assigned to a witch. It’s a big deal among the creatures of hell. It was a golden ticket for them to have access to the moral world and leave this world of hell. However, once out of hell, they could not come back even to visit once they made a pact with the witch. It also depends on the agreements in the pact between the witch and the demon. There was an offering within the summoning each time.
After the sixth time, in the following years, Shoto continuously rejected it. He was summoned again. Izuku knows Shoto would have hated him for the rest of his immortal life. He couldn’t go for another year of Shoto rejecting his golden ticket because of him.
The eyes of Shoto were filled with pure shock, and betrayal will always haunt him. He had pushed him into the summoning circle using the opportunity of Shoto never having his guard up around him.
This is why he already accepted his fate to stay within the world of hell because he was in the lower ranks of demons. The chances are lower than 1% being picked due to not having super abilities and physical strength. He was the weakest of the lower ranks.
He has seen his friends get picked during the ceremony throughout the years. Yet, his longest friend, Shoto, is the most popular and most feared due to being the son of someone who is known by his alias Endeavour. He became the first demon to reject a summoning and later found out the reason why he rejected it. It was because he didn’t want to go somewhere without him. Despite already knowing, Izuku is stuck in hell for his eternal life because of his status.
He had already made his peace that he would be joining those older demons who were never summoned. He will be alone.
The first time was being alone for the summoning ceremony and having no one to sit beside. He stood at the back of the room and watched as other demons were called upon.
Never in his dreams would he have thought he would be called for summoning after giving up his dreams and accepting what everyone had told him. He will never be summoned. He is going to riot in hell, just like the low ranks.
The image of him in the smoke is floating, as the summoning circle is a few feet away from him.
However, this caused the crowd of demons to protest, and some even attempted to steal the summoning when it was destined for him out of desperation. Despite already knowing it was useless, these specific summonings are destined to pick someone who can bring out the best from both parties, the witch and the demon.
He hesitated, but he walked past the injured demons into the summoning circle, not knowing what to expect next. He was engulfed in the circle with his backpack on his back. It was warm as if he were being wrapped around a blanket. His offering to his witch was an earring that was in front of him. He softly took it from the air. He was immediately lightheaded and felt his body was overheating as green electricity surrounded him.
His summoning wasn’t perfect. The toga he was wearing was ripped to shreds and barely covered him. The backpack was barely held together.
The realization landed on him: What kind of witch does he have? Is he going to be sent back and rejected because he is pathetic?
The noise and new environment were making him spiral as he was kneeling on the ground. He felt like everything was spinning around him.
He froze at the sudden feeling of a soft fabric touching his shoulder before his head was over the hood of the robe. He felt the robe grow in size as if to fit him better.
“Breathe, tell me 3 things you can see, 3 things you can hear, and move 3 of your body limbs.”
He had fallen to his knees as the wind and overheating were choking him. He was holding onto his throat. It was a painful minute. Tears were welling up in his eyes before the sensation disappeared. He immediately started coughing as he was gasping for air.
It was an overwhelming experience because he was summoned in front of the stadium inside a summoning circle. The crowd was screaming but quieted down at the sight of his wings, specifically.
At the time, he was too busy trying to adjust to the bright light and a bunch of scents hitting him at once. He was struggling to breathe. It suddenly became loud again.
He will never forget the first act of kindness from you. You gave him space and time to adjust. You brought a new set of clothes since his toga got ruined, and he walked around with a robe covering his body. You even brought him to the Demon Cafe on university grounds for him to eat something. It was then that you brought up the pact since the two of you have 24 hours to make a pact before he will be forced back to hell.
Immediately, the green-haired demon comes out clean and wants you to know about his condition as a demon before striking a pact with you.
“I don’t have any power, including super strength.”
He noticed the way you glanced up at the sight of his horns before saying something that surprised him. No one in hell has said.
“I am not an expert, but I have read that there are some cases of demons' power that could go dormant for years. It’s rare, but whoever told you you didn’t have the power has lied to you. That green-colored electricity and strong winds weren’t from me. That was your power trying to match the same energy as I did to summon you. It could have triggered your power, which could explain why your ride here was tough."
It was tough seeing how he almost showed up completely nude in front of a bunch of people watching the ceremony. The toga was barely covering his body. It felt like the wind was choking him as he struggled to breathe. He was very pale and flustered.
“The reason I didn’t force a pact was back when I first saw you. You were overwhelmed and struggling to adjust to the new environment. Please know you are allowed to reject. I don’t want to force you into something you don’t want.”
The two of you talked a bit more. You see that he wasn’t that convinced. You took him to a witch whose expertise is in demons and a doctor for demons. The witch confirmed your theory that Izuku’s power is just latent. It will take a while for them to show up. He just needs to get muscle into his body if he ever wants those powers to show up or even use them.
“I am going to be blunt. Your body or mind is nowhere in a state to hold any power; you die, regardless of being immortal.”
“There was a case a long time ago of a demon whose powers were latent like yours. He did everything in the book to provoke them and got involved with the dark sorcerer. He got what he wanted but died because his body at the time wasn’t suited to handle it.” The older demon, who's familiar with the witch demon doctor, butts in.
The doctor took a single glance up and down at him, making him even more self-conscious than he already was.
It was a lot of information to process. When you took him back to your dorm, you had an upgraded dorm since you reached the level you needed to summon Demon Familiar. You also have a benefactor who is already funding your education. Someone who believed in you despite not going to the Academy of Witches. You were behind compared to the rest of the student body. You aren’t the only one behind and playing catch-up, either.
Izuku asks his final question to determine his decision to make a pact to become familiar to you until death. He was afraid of the answer, but he needed to know. He isn’t the prettiest demon or the strongest. He is just an outcast demon that has horns and wings but doesn’t match the definition of a demon.
"Do you believe I have the potential to become a powerful demon?”
“Yes."
Your prompt response surprised him. You didn’t hesitate in your response. He felt emotional and had someone who believed in him.
That night, he made a pact with you.
You didn’t hesitate to answer him because you felt his raw power clashing with and completely overwhelming your power. You had to have more energy to balance this and make it stable enough. There were cracks in the ground underneath the summoning circle because of how much he was overwhelming your abilities.
Unknown to the Izuku, you and the demon witch doctor already knew why his abilities were latent. The clear sign of the demon’s esteem is through their horn conditions. The other factor is being a Cambion. It has been reported throughout history. These beings have a much harder time having good control over their abilities. At the news of finding out, it took him much longer to learn to fly until he was eleven years old.
It’s secret and kept out of the demon's knowledge because the demon will just focus on physical perception instead of working on both the mind and body. They will get frustrated seeing how their horns aren’t improving, but rather the horns are in a worse state than previously.
It took a while for Izuku to adjust to this new environment, but once he got adjusted, he was still thinking of an alias to use since names are powerful things around here.
You would bring him books on topics that he wanted to know, such as demons who were latent just like him. It took a long time to get your hands on them, but you gave them to him. He was doing a bunch of research, learning more about his kind.
He found a lot of things he didn't know about, and he is rare, but it gave him a new perspective. He shouldn’t think like the demons he grew up around, but be patient with himself. It will take longer for him, and it’s avoidable. There are a lot of baby steps to take.
He was thankful that you asked around to get your hands on an electronic version of the journal of Cambion, as familiar as the legendary witch from centuries ago.
He was very grateful for how patient you were with him and for getting all of the information he wanted to know if you didn’t know the answer. He wasn’t able to enter the library because he was a newbie and needed to wait a year until he could have access to it.
He rambled your ear off and immediately shut down, realizing he was talking too much. It took a while for him to be comfortable and stop apologizing for his rants.
You took him to get his haircut because the mantled hair was too much; even the hair stylist couldn’t help him. There were a lot of dead ends. His hair reached down to the lower part of his back. The hairstylist explained to him the importance of getting his hair trimmed once in a while and why.
He has much shorter hair, and it took a while to adjust. His head felt so much lighter now.
You taught him basic personal hygiene. Demons and human personal hygiene are different, but there are slight similarities.
You know he has shown interest in hitting the gym and running around, but you also noticed how hesitant he was to go to the gym or run around campus like the rest of the demons around. You believe it was because he was self-conscious about his appearance. That’s when you introduced him to your friend’s demon known as Red Riot; it was his alias since personal names are the most powerful but also the most dangerous to give out carelessly.
You already talked to the demon before introducing him to Izuku. Red Riot brought him along to the gym when there were barely any people there, and he ran around when there weren’t any demons around.
Red Riot helped him a lot and gave him a lot of knowledge on working out perspectives. He was thankful; he wasn’t judging but rather encouraging him.
You also told him about a therapist and let him have the option to refuse the idea of it. He accepted it and started going to a demon therapist who was very nice to him.
Within a couple of months, Izuku has been feeling better about his physical appearance. He started going out alone and wasn’t afraid to do it either since he already knew his way around campus. He was slowly, but surely, building muscle mass in his body. He was starting to get attention from other witches and demons.
He became even more popular when he was flying around to have a faster flight time. He only has a singular wing. His schedule wasn’t the same but random because you asked him to have random times to hear and see how people were earning interest in him.
You wanted to avoid a confrontation happening when he was working on himself.
Due to earning muscle in his body and slowly becoming muscular. Some of his clothes are too tight. He stopped using those and didn’t want to bother you. He didn’t want to ask for new clothes until he ripped a pair of sweatpants when he bent down to grab a book from the bookshelf in the living room from the ground. The rip echoed through the living room, where you were studying at the table to look at him.
Without asking, you immediately took him to get new clothes and told him to put them in a bag to donate if he had any clothes that no longer fit him.
You even gave him an allowance to use if he wanted any food or clothes. Seeing how he would rather stay with clothes that fit him tight than ask to get new ones,
Later on, when the new semester was going to start, a new program was dedicated to familiars, showing how many of them were lounging around and a few incidents where they had failed to protect their destined witches.
He was studying everything he could, from demons to witches. You helped him by quizzing him and helping him if he didn’t understand something.
The entrance exam is extremely important in technical and logical situations. The physical part would be a minor part of the exam, which he was thankful for.
He didn’t want to disappoint you, even when you told him if he didn’t make it, you wouldn't.
That exam was stressful, and his mind was completely exhausted. He was exhausted and didn’t make it to his room to sleep. He falls asleep on the couch.
It was an emotional night when he read his acceptance letter. He didn’t feel like a failure.

Izuku has evolved from being scrawny to having toned muscles. He looks like a typical demon, nothing like when he first arrived.
His powers have manifested, which increased his rank as a demon; he didn’t expect to be within the top 150 among the enrolled students' familiars.
He only kept going up as time passed.
His horns improved to a healthy state and even grew to have the standard sharp edge.
Ever since, he has manifested his power and gotten muscular.
He became quite popular with demons and witches alike.
People have tried to convince him to become their familiar instead and abandon you, which he will never do.
People were more than willing to help him whenever he had questions now, comparing the way others treated him initially.
It took a while to adjust to getting so much attention and learning how to manage it.
Some don’t take a no as rejection; sometimes you have to be a bit more aggressive about it, as he learned.
Also, he kept the earring from his summoning offer in a safe spot, and the other pair carried it around him. Until he works up the urge to get his ears pierced,
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Demon Katsuki Bakugou:
He wasn’t the easiest to handle or deal with at all at the beginning. He was one of the few who were summoned in their mid-teens. He had a massive ego and looked down upon his own witch and others.
He wasn’t the nicest, either. He was rather rude.
You questioned your decision every day and debated whether to break the pact and try to get another familiar one rather than a demon one.
Furthermore, he wondered why you, a weak witch, were given to him.
The two of you bumped heads more often than not. You are getting complaints about him. He was also getting a record of using his powers on others and getting into a lot of fights. He would use his sharp claws to swipe at people, demons, and other species of familiars alike. You tried to talk to him, but it felt like talking to a wall.
He bites, scratches, and does everything above.
Yet, you weren’t surprised to find him getting brutally attacked by a demon with more experience than him. The demon was the same age as him but had more experience than him.
You could say he was humbled and wasn’t the same afterward. You could see it hurting his self-esteem.
There was a turning point in the dynamic between the two of you. It also changed his perspective on you. There was an incident where you got critically hurt. He is ashamed to admit it, but he wasn’t taking his job seriously. There will be people who will be stronger than him, especially being this young as a demon.
Even when he could have left you for dead and could have done so with that vow you placed on him, because of the pact, he was completely free as a demon with no connection to you. There wouldn’t be any sort of consequence if he did. He wouldn’t return to hell because of negligence, yet he didn’t.
He rushed you to the closest hospital to get medical care. He stayed beside you once you were allowed to have someone in the room.
He gets chewed out by your parents because he failed his duties as a protector and as a familiar. He kept quiet and took their insults. He was already kicking himself over it.
He gets nightmares about the incident as he sleeps in the same hospital room on an uncomfortable chair. He would glance at the heart monitor to ensure you were still alive and not dead.
During your hospital stay, you were surprised to have found him watching over you like a bodyguard. It reached a point where the medical staff was referring to him as a guard dog who watched carefully what they were doing to you all while you were unconscious and recovering.
“Don’t you dare accept that useless thing as familiar again? He is unfit. That thing will never appreciate the things you have done for him. He is just ungrateful!”
He didn’t stay around when he heard those words come from your parents. They weren’t the only ones who told you to tell you about renewing the pact. Family members to the faculty of the academy, telling you not to accept him again. He already has his golden ticket. He wouldn’t be forced to return to hell and could roam around the moral world without being tied down by a witch. He will be fine.
“You are a disappointment as a demon and familiar. She should have let you rot in hell for your negligence.” A higher-up demon who was in charge of the demons of the academy was insulting him hell and back. He was purposely ripping Bakugou into shreds. That demon knew where to hit and make it hurt.
You were astounded to see him around and sneaking in your favorite snacks for you to eat. You didn’t even know he took note of it since the two of you never truly got along. You weren’t blind to see how much guilt the demon carried on his shoulders. His eyes say it all, along with the clear sign of sleep deprivation. His horns on his head, which used to be healthy and spotless of any flaws, now have scratches and cracks on them.
The clear sign of the demon’s esteem is through their horn conditions.
In the end, he was startled when you asked him if he still wanted to be your familiar, and you didn’t blame him for the incident either. The two of you had a deep conversation. You did most of the talking and let him speak whenever he wanted to.
Nevertheless, he is very grateful that you gave him another chance despite everyone around you telling him not to renew the pact. He doesn’t ever want to see you like that or what you did to protect him again. You broke the pact, and he felt that. It’s just like the demon’s rumors have said about how it feels to be abandoned by their witch. It's a hollow feeling on his chest that wouldn’t go away. It was a terrible feeling to experience.
His attitude toward you has improved since that deep confession. He is treating you with respect as his witch.
You learn how to differentiate the way he acts and talks between real anger and his normal behavior.
Ever since you introduced him to Demon Cafe, which specializes in demon appetite, he has been determined to make better dishes. He claims it lacked any taste. He cooked his food at the dorms and sometimes created something for you to eat since you can’t eat what he eats.
His food caught the attention of other demons who were asking what kind of dish it was from the cafe, only to be surprised to find out he knew how to cook.
He was ready to fight the demon who stole the food that he cooked for himself!
You better believe he did not take any sort of money or anything in exchange for his cooking. It went around that he was a good chef after his food was stolen more than twice.
Even the cafe reached out to him and immediately said no.
The only person he would cook food for is you, his annoying witch. Human food, to be more specific. There was a lot of trial and error since he had never cooked human food before.
Time Skip (University)
The two of you have had a playful dynamic of sorts since becoming a duo for years now. More often than not, people get concerned over you whenever they see him baring his teeth at you and showing off his fangs with an unhinged look towards you.
He growls at you, to which you happily return, already used to his behavior. It evolved into something the two of you do.
“You do know he can just eat you if he wants to."
“And I can turn him into a bug."
He already has a reputation due to his past actions of picking fights. He doesn’t go around trying to pick fights, and he walks away from the challenger. He hasn’t gotten into a physical altercation since the incident. He will get into verbal altercations sometimes.
He used to be defensive and extremely territorial over you when other demons tried to convince you to drop him.
With time, He trusted you and took the time to teach you how to handle and defend yourself. It has provided him with peace of mind.
If someone else's familiar approaches you, you can constantly feel his gaze on your back. Yet you will find him around the corner, keeping a watch to ensure you are okay. He wouldn’t admit it to you.
He is also well known for needing his personal space. He will swipe at you after the first warning. The first warning is a deep growl. He only gives you one chance to remove yourself from his personal space before he does it himself. He will not be easy on it, either.
There was a time when the two of you won the Witch Hunt competition.
The two of you became even more popular and mainstream. You got multiple donations because of it. A competition between the witches and their families. The goal is to capture witches with their familiars. Each duo had a specific number of points they were worth.
It gets violent pretty fast within the games. It took literally years for Bakugou to convince you to do them. Both parties had to have a mutual agreement in order to enroll in the competition. It is also a perfect way to get donations from benefactors who watch them annually.
Nevertheless, it is a perfect competition where other witches can take out their resentment on someone without the risk of expulsion. It was the perfect way to get even. This also goes for demons who have been holding grudges against other demons.
You aren’t blind. Bakugou has made few enemies, especially in the beginning. You also made a few enemies during your time studying at the academy and here at the university.
Both of you know you will have a massive target on your guys back, especially rising up the ranks over time.
You earned the attention of everyone, seeing how well the two of you worked together. The two of you have known each other's fighting styles for years now. It has become second nature. Surprising all those who doubted his abilities as familiar. Despite showing improvement in his behavior, people still hold his past against him.
Most of all, seeing how loyal Bakugou is despite being under a spell that causes him to be rabid and pushing all of his true instincts to the surface. It pushed all logical reasoning out of the window. It also shows the true colors of whomever it is cast on.
The witch and demon neglected to consider how dangerous Bakugou’s abilities are because there wouldn’t be any resistance from him. He was acting on pure instinct and wasn’t holding back at all.
He didn’t attack you despite letting out numerous attacks beside you in an attempt to scare you or make you run like normal prey. His attacks never touched you, but beside you, you could feel the heat from his attacks.
You were terrified on the inside, but you held it together to not show fear. It’s fear he wants to see; it's instinctual of demons. Thankfully, Bakugou has made you immune to his attacks. Those void eyes carefully observing your reaction lack any sort of soul in them. Eyes of a predator.
His lips crawl up into a delish smile, showing off the fangs that have the potential to rip into flesh. He lets out a low, deep growl.
Out of habit and years of Bakugou teaching you to growl appropriately. You growl back. You wanted me to devour you. There is a chance that he could take that growl as if you were challenging him
In a split second, you could see a faint light in his eyes before it disappeared. His eyes landed on the blood from the injury to your arm, where you had gotten injured when you attempted to interfere with the witch, who was in the process of casting her spell on Bakugou. He slowly turns his head to the side, tilting it to draw attention to the duo. The witch became nervous and let it be oblivious.
It is 101 Demon Physiology to not show any sort of fear or uneasiness. She just failed when there is a demon who has all of his instincts to be on the surface.
There was massive panic among the participants. He literally lost cannon, attacking anyone who showed the slightest fear and uneasiness. Everyone became prey in his eyes.
He was using his abilities to the fullest. He wasn’t holding back, letting out the biggest attacks.
You kept yourself behind him. You use his current state as a feral demon to your advantage. To protect the others, you have been sealing them in marbles after he injured them.
There was major destruction on his rampage. When the two collected enough points, no one could reach them. They immediately declared the two of you winners.
Strictly reserved for the highest witches, the spell that cast it onto Bakugou. That witch who cast that spell came from a long line of elite witches.
You also became the first one to use a rabid demon in a competition, even though you weren’t the one who cast it. Somehow it followed your lead and didn’t attack you for taking his victims from him. He just moved on to the next one around the area.
When the reverse spell was cast on him, he immediately collapsed. You attempted to catch him so that he could only be used as a cushion for his fall. There was no ceremony due to Bakugou being unconscious.
When Bakugou wakes up, you don’t have any clue how relieved he was once told about his state. If he had attacked you, he would have never forgiven himself.
The only thing he could remember was hearing a growl of yours; it's so specific that it would be hard to replicate by someone who. It triggered a set of various memories in his mind while he was outside. His body was acting out of instinct and using attacks that he had practiced for years.
As a result, the two of you became quite popular and had a reputation, which pissed the demon off because everyone is trying to talk to him now. Demons want to know how he trains and how much.
He earned a fanbase, which he doesn’t even want to think about.
He is now getting the attention of witches trying to recruit him after being left alone previously. His peace vanished. He was aggressive with his rejections.
“Fuck off!” was a daily occurrence you could hear from him, including his demonic language telling other demons to get off of his back.
Even more when demons and witches have less innocent intentions when approaching you.
He wants his peace. He wants to be left alone to enjoy his supper without interruption from people.
Later on, when the new program was rolled out specifically for witches' familiars, it took a lot of convincing for Bakugou to even enroll. He didn’t need to take the exam. He got a recommendation after seeing his potential at the Witch Hunt competition.
You were beyond grateful that he was able to make friends through the program. You were already worried about him because he hasn’t made any friends since you were at the academy.
You were taken aback to see him cooking for his friends. They would pay for the supplies since Katsuki refused to take money.
They would often hang out at your apartment because it was the biggest place to hang out. You trusted his friends, despite all of them being demons. You trusted his judgment and knew how much he respected your shared living and personal space.
You also know Katsuki will take it personally if something happens to you because of them. You are 100% sure he will murder them on the spot.
Since he has friends now, you give him more than enough money to spend whatever he wants to spend it on while hanging out with his friends.
Would bring back trinkets that he thought you would like or that looked like you.
He keeps his offering from the summoning ceremony in a safe spot back at the apartment, inside a box in his room. The box is filled with Polaroid pictures and photo booth strips. There are also his birthday and Christmas cards, along with your handwritten notes thanking and showing appreciation for him.
He looks through the box whenever he feels like he is upset with himself or whenever he feels like a failure.
There are some rare jewels that you brought for him, which he treasures the most once you learn the style that he likes. He wears them with pride.
His summoning offering was a dragon tooth, which he keeps in the box. But he wears a clone of the dragon tooth around his neck. He feels anxious to carry the real one around his neck in fear of it getting destroyed.
The dragon tooth is sentimental to him.
You won’t see him panicking over the clone, but he will lose his goddamn mind over the real one. Specifically, someone has been touching it without his permission.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Demon!Izuku
He kept hearing these rumors going around campus. It is combined with the rumors of witches sleeping with their familiar or other's familiars. There are love affairs happening secretly out of the faculty’s ears.
He was curious about it, as much as he wanted to trust his friends. He has his doubts about it, to the point that he went to the library to reread the books on demon physiology, etc. It was softly implied but never was brought up again. It is possible for either demons or witches to give their power at the cost of their soul.
He wanted to bring up this rumor to you, but he wanted to see if he could get an answer from books and he didn’t want to ask around. He doesn’t want to seem stupid that he didn’t know that. If it was basic knowledge, he already knows he is late to find out these related to being demon and much.
He knows you won’t judge him despite being so patient with him. Numerous questions he has asked you over the time as you are familiar – you have answered each one to the best of your ability. You would go out of your way to find out if you didn’t know the answer which he appreciates..
It took awhile for you to answer him, “Yes that rumor is true. There are few demons around who actually need it in order to survive such as Dabi. He is a special case for it. It is necessary for him.”
You took the time to explain it to him for those who need it like special cases such as Dabi — the others who don’t really need it just do it out of pleasure or intimacy. You could already feel the question that was written all over his face. ‘Why haven’t I gotten that from you’
“Before you think negatively, I never offered it to you because your powers were latent. I didn’t want to suddenly trigger them when your body wouldn’t be able to handle it. It can be beneficial but it can go wrong super fast if not done correctly. ”
Later on, he went around asking his friends who to do it with. That’s when he found out, it can be both ways. A witch can take or give energy from their familiar. The familiar can give or take energy from their witch.
When he worked up the courage to ask you if you could do it with him. You started off with the simplest affection such as a hug and he felt it. He already knew what to expect but didn’t expect that.
You just laughed at him, because his eyes were wide open. The energy he didn’t have for the past couple days was suddenly there. It was tiny.
When you kiss his freckled cheek, the energy starts to increase a bit more. It felt easy. It was cool but also had a warm sensation. It was as if he was dehydrated and getting the water he needed. You were watching his face expression and pressing a few more kisses accompanied with a hug increasing the energy you were transferring. He hugged you with a tighter grip subconsciously.
It was his turn to try and practice with him. He never was taught to transfer energy so he is learning and you were his guinea pig. You better believe he was a nervous wreck but he was a quick learner. He was trying to follow your lead and going off his friend's advice. It was a lot of trial and error. It’s either he put too much at once or too little to none.
It was a weekly occurrence. He wanted to learn how to do it, for emergencies.
Ever since you were openly affectionate without transferring energy. He also became affectionate with you.
Does he want to kiss you on the lips? Of course, he does.
He also knows there is a chance of you finding someone getting romantic involved. It is very painful to think about, since he is already earning feelings for you for a while. He rather not cross that line because thought of someone touching your lips, if it wasn’t his once he got a taste of it. It wouldn’t go well.
Now he understands why familiars fall in love with their witches at one point of their lifetime. It's evitable.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Demon!Touya Todoroki
His summoning wasn't what you would consider the traditional way of summoning. It would usually take place at an academy of witches to coven, where there is supervision to prevent anything from going wrong. There are a few factors involved in which his summoning should have been impossible unless two conditions were met.
A Life-and-Death summoning occurs when both the witch and the demon are on the brink of death.
When he was 14 years old, it was determined that Touya was unfit due to having such a fragile body to handle his powers. When he failed the routine medical examination that all demons have to go through at that age, He wouldn't be able to do his job effectively as a demon familiar to a witch.
The Demon Council's decision automatically disqualified him from participation and prohibited him from attending the bi-annual summoning at any of Hell's locations. He will be electrocuted if he tries to enter one of those buildings.
His father, who went by the name Endeavor, also supported the decision made by the council. He is also on the council along with the older demons.
It destroyed Touya even more. Endeavor has already shown his distaste for seeing him train his body to handle his power. Touya wanted to prove his worth to him. He isn't a failure.
He did try to hide and run away, but was eventually dragged back to be marked and cursed against his will. His body was branded by the council, which showed he was rejected in society. The branding should have prevented him from ever being summoned. His wings were clipped and cursed to prevent him from ever flying again. It is an extremely painful experience. He did fight back as much as he could. He is considered to be a baby compared to these hundreds-year-old demons. He never did return to the mansion that he grew up in, along with disappearing from the area.
The branding is worse than death itself. It declares him a failure as a demon within society. He is considered to be beneath even the weakest of demons. His once-prestigious status plummeted to the bottom of the food chain. His status is now lower than that of demons, with no significant power at all. The branding acts as a stamp, marking him as an outcast. A reject who failed to meet the requirements of a demon.
It impacted Touya's self-esteem greatly. His horns on his head shatter into pieces within a month, which is a clear indication of a demon's self-esteem. They were once semi-healthy and smaller than they were supposed to be.
Touya started facing the real danger outside of his privileged life. He learned pretty quickly that he was very fortunate to have been raised to not worry about what lurks in the shadows and the constant bodyguard that his father assigned to each of his children. He had to learn how to survive and defend himself, which led him to learn how to steal in order to survive in hell. It was a dog-eat-dog world.
He also learned to not be in the same area too long; otherwise, he will be taken to those hellhouses that act like havens for orphans and raise them until they are able to get out of hell. He has seen a lot of runaways get taken to those places. Depending on the area, those Hellhouses are nightmares to live in supposedly. You have to earn your bed privileges and food. Touya would much rather take his risk out in the streets than in a place where he is constantly being watched. He knows he will have it worse for being a reject at such a young age.
He has seen and experienced the treatment Reject Demon receives in hell. It's not pleasant. The constant looking over your shoulder. Other demons hunt reject demons just for shit and giggles. No one bats an eye to it, since reject demons are looked down upon.
Touya has never stopped training his body and power. He continued, but less frequently than he had before. He was more worried about getting the next meal one way or another than finding a place to sleep the night. He practically uses his flames in the daily basics just to defend himself from other demons. Not all demons are immune to fire.
However, at the age of 16, he has major burn scars throughout his arms, among the scars of claws on his body from fighting constantly to survive. He often fought with other demons around his age, especially older demons who didn't have good intentions in mind.
His horns have grown back smaller than their normal size, but with visible cracks on them. He has grown immune to the states due to the sad sight of his wings and the state of his body. There is no point in trying to hide his branding when his wings are a dead giveaway.
He never did see his face in the center of the cities on the pinboards. His father never put up a missing poster of him, which showed Touya that he didn't care about him. Unknowingly, there are demons who are taking them down because of their hatred towards the Demon Council member, Endeavor. He looked a lot different when he was 13 years old; he has visible burnt skin.
Touya has stolen a lot to make a living and made deals with sketchy people, which ends up backfiring on him. He was hunted down like an animal when he stole from the wrong person. It was the worst kind of demon who liked to torture and hunt demons just for the thrill of it. He did try to run as fast as he could. He didn't have functional wings to fly away, eventually being cornered at a dead end, which is how he ended up in this situation.
Being choked to death, despite burning the demon that was choking him against the dirt. It became apparent that the demon above him was somewhat immune to flames when the demon started laughing at him and mocking him. He couldn't breathe, but it didn't stop him from increasing the fire as he clawed at the older demon. The demon had a haunting smile on his lips and was looking down at him. The demon was clearly enjoying this, despite blood running down their skin due to his flamed, sharp nails digging into the man's face.
He wanted to live...
Unknowingly, in the moral world, you were running for your life and running low on your magic, already pushing your limit with your abilities.
You knew the risk of doing the summoning ritual by yourself, but you had to try. You wanted to live! You were using the broken bow that was stabbed through your shoulder with tears in your eyes. Adrenaline is running through your veins. The state you are in is asking for death, but you would rather die trying than do nothing. The summoning will take a toll on your body and the demon's, especially if it's running dangerously low.
You were chanting the ritual summoning spell, despite already trying to summon your familiar a few months ago and seeing nothing, not even a spark of power. It surprised your teachers and parents to see nothing coming or even a sign of life because you have the potential to become a powerful witch. You were already climbing the ranks at your school, and now it's biting your ass. You were being hunted like an animal.
'It could be meaningless, but you had to try.' You bitterly thought while ignoring the throbbing pain on your shoulder.
When you were being attacked at the top of the summoning circle, you didn't stop the chanting in your mind as you were being choked. You did try to fight back against the demon over you. You didn't see the spark that turned into small flames of orange and blue. You felt your whole body burning from the inside, but you couldn't tell if it was the spell or the lack of oxygen.
At the sight of the demon raising its hand above them to show off the sharp nails reflecting against the full moon, growing longer in preparation to rip into you. Inside of Hell, Touya was already engulfed in flames that were causing him extreme pain while choking and starting to lose consciousness while digging his nails into the demon above him, who was putting all of his weight against his windpine.
You ended the verse by shutting your eyes, expecting pain, but instead you felt the weight of the demon off of your body while hearing the demon screech in pain. You open your eyes to see a demon engulfed in blue and red flames on top of the demon, punching down on them while burning their flesh off with each punch. But the flames extinguished on their own within a minute.
It was the last thing you saw before losing consciousness, but soon Touya followed after you, who fell over to the side. The summoning took all of the energy the two of you had. The demon fell unconscious due to the extreme pain that he was experiencing from Touya. Touya came out of nowhere, engulfed in flames, and launched at him with sharp claws.
When Touya woke up at the hospital. He was startled by the sight of the weird things he had never seen on his body before, and ripping the cables that were attached to his body off causing the machine to start beeping which echoed within his hospital room.
You pull the curtain to the side in alarm, thinking your demon is having heart failure, but the two of you just stare at each other dumbfounded. You had an arm in arm sling with bandages around your neck.
You tried to explain what is happening to only be met by hostility from him. He was ready to pounce on you without any notice.
A demon of one of the doctors had to explain to him what was going on. You didn't miss the pure curiosity mixed with skepticism in his turquoise eyes when you were introduced to him.
You have seen the clipped wings on his back that are missing parts, and most of all, you have seen the burn scars throughout his body. You were informed what he is, but still wanted to see it through.
You didn't bring up the contract, which must be completed within the first 24 hours of the summoning, until the last 2 hours of the time frame. You could see his eyes on you—completely skeptical and suspicious. You had clothed him and offered to buy him food. He was eating like a starving demon would. It was messy, but you didn't miss the way he was hugging his plate through him and immediately looking over his shoulder whenever he felt someone passing by him.
He kept looking over his shoulder constantly. He was clearly on edge.
"All I ask is that you spend one year with me. If you don't like being my familiar, I will release you from the contract, letting you have your freedom in the moral world."
Touya isn't going to lie. The deal sounds too good to be true. You could be the worst human ever to exist, but you keep proving him wrong with the way you treated him and the demons around you during the past 22 hours.
The upside of this deal is that if he doesn't like it, he can have freedom and create a life outside of hell in just a year. He doesn't want to go back to Hell. That's the only reason he accepted it. It is just an appealing deal.
It took about 4 months for him to adjust and lower his guard around you, but he was slightly on edge. He was territorial about his living space and food. You didn't mind it. You gave him his space and respected his boundaries whenever he had his lip curl up, showing off his fangs with a warning growl when you were too close to his personal space.
He also became the reason why you couldn't have your friends over with their demons because Touya didn't like their presence within his living space.
Touya also became the reason why no birds no longer sit on the edge of your window. You caught him eating one after class, not because he was hungry but because he was curious about how it tasted. There aren't birds in hell.
You read more about reject demons out of curiosity. It should be impossible to be able to summon one unless you meet the two requirements. You never brought yourself to ask him about his experience in hell. You were still getting to know him about his boundaries and likes and dislikes. You didn't want to go back to square one with him.
Everyone around you is telling you that it's best for you to find a different familiar. He isn't going to last, especially with the body he has. You don't miss the way the elders of the Witch Council would stare and look at the two of you like trash whenever they came to visit school grounds to look at the next generation of witches and their familiars.
A lot of your peers and teachers have told you that you were making a grave mistake by making him, your familiar. You tried to hide your hurt, but seeing what you have seen in his behavior, you don't want to lose hope in him yet. You wanted to give him a chance, even if it bit you in the ass.
It took a couple more months for Touya to even let you touch him without growling and snapping his neck, swiping at you instinctively. He subconsciously memorized your scent and how your steps sounded.
You have always treated him with kindness and respect. You respected his boundaries. It wasn't something that Touya was used to. You provide him with enough freedom that he doesn't feel like he has a chain around his neck. All you asked of him was to train with you three times a week during your training classes, specifically the ones that required demon familiars.
He did hate it at the beginning since you were doing things that were so easy that even a baby demon child could do. It soon became challenging for the two of you to channel the same amount of concentration. The two of you had to be in sync, which took a longer time to get it right.
Eventually, time flies, and Touya decides to stay with you. The two of you renew the contract, opting for the traditional agreement that typically gets renewed every five years. You assured him that the door would always be open if he wanted to end the contract at any time.
It took a little more than a year for him to find out about your family heritage. He always suspected that you came from a prestigious family, given that you lived comfortably and never took a part-time job, unlike other witches he had seen leaving campus with their demons in tow. But what he hasn't expected is that you actually come from a hybrid family that has dilated demon blood that runs through your veins. Your family bloodline can be traced back many generations, making your family the oldest active witch lineage.
It was starting to make sense why your family welcomed you with open arms, including the demon familiars of all types. He did feel like it was a trap every time he was forced to come with you during the holidays prior. They were nice to him and treated him as a family member. Everything that he always thought about your family being weird was starting to make sense.
"I thought it was noticeable." You told him you were completely taken back by him staring at you as if you grew a second head.
Timeskip University
A lot of people were surprised that he had lasted this long since his body was literally burning and being held together by stables and snitches.
Other demons have tried to intimate him to even attempt to pick on him, which resulted badly on their end. He isn't above using violence to be left alone, especially when they try to put their hands on him. You don't even bat an eye towards his behavior since it is becoming the norm, sadly. It comes with being reject demon. Within the demon society, reject demons deemed to be at the bottom of the demon hierarchy, regardless of their ability. That's what you have learned since Touya has become your familiar.
You just fix him up using basic healing magic to heal his minor injuries, such as his burst lip and knuckles. You have seen the other demons that have tried to see their faces swell up with bruises, knowing Touya doesn't hold back his punches. There isn't a sign of burnt flesh either, meaning he doesn't take them seriously.
It also didn't take long for Touya to earn a reputation within campus, which made him even more isolated from the demons than he already was. Demons avoided him like the plague, which didn't bother him one bit. He was left alone. He has already learned to ignore the stares from strangers. It's the state of his body and clipped wings that bring him attention wherever he goes.
Touya used to stay behind in your dorm during your time at the academy because he would get bored to death at class. He would just take a nap during class, but now he refuses to be left behind at the dorms. You have a feeling that he wants to learn more since the academy only covered the basics of magic and demonology. He is allowed to be in those classes, as you are familiar. That was the original plan.
That was the original plan until all of the demon familiars on campus were forced to attend a few mandatory classes on campus, much to his annoyance, especially when they were early in the morning. The classes focus on several topics, such as self-control when it comes to temptation, such as the blood of witches and other species. There are too many incidents of demon familiars attacking their witches when they were at their most vulnerable in the year prior.
There are a variety of witches' blood, including a mixture of hybrids such as fairy-to-elves witches that were exposed to him and other demons too. He is the only one who passed that section compared to the rest of the demons in the class. Demons react negatively to being outright feral. It was insane that some have such poor self-control. He barely passed, and he wasn't the only one struggling to stand up from his seat.
That particular class mainly teaches about self-control, but it also covers how to identify blood types in order to track them in case of emergencies. It went over old cases of each blood type being presented in class. The three that are most sought out are human blood, mixed demon-human blood, and elf-human blood. The demon and human hybrid witches are right after the human witches' cases when it comes to attacks and ambushes. He paid very close attention to this part of the class since you have mixed demon-human blood that runs in your veins. It was starting to make sense.
You have opened up to him about being hunted ever since you joined the Academy of Witches, and he has kept his guard up about everything the two of you were traveling to visit your family at the grocery shop. He has made eye contact with demons who were staring at you too long for his liking, especially those demons who were looking at you as if you were a meal. He knows those eyes too well, reminding him of the demon eaters in Hell. The craze looks into their eyes. A lot of them were cowards who turned away, deciding you weren't worth the fight, when he was giving them a side-dead glare behind your back while you were paying attention to what you were doing. You never truly noticed a difference with him since he is always guarding public spaces. It's normal for Touya to glare at strangers or just stare at people until they feel uncomfortable. They are forced to look away.
Demons hunt humans for food, but those who are hybrids between a demon and a human or an elf are often hunted for power. The stronger the witch is, the more power she provides to the demon that feeds off of her. It is mainly the reason why those witches go missing without a trace. If they are eaten by a demon, that gives them permanent power, unlike drinking their blood, which can be temporarily affected to permanent depending on the witch's and amount of blood that is consumed.
It was an interesting class, but the most dangerous after training in demonic spells. He didn't miss the way some of the demon teachers stood a bit close to him when they were pouring blood into the containers. They were expecting him to fail at self control. He isn't oblivious to the way the staff acts around him and stares at him whenever he is walking with you around campus and outside of the campus grounds.
He is only a bit ahead of his class among his fellow demons. He already knew the basic demonic spells, which included defensive and offensive, but it takes a lot of energy. The spells that they are going over are the ones that you told him to memorize since he didn't come with you during your time at the academy. He never truly needed to put them into practice since he relies more on his elemental power than his demonic nature, but this class is making him learn and use it.
These classes forced him to socialize against his will when it came to teamwork exercises. It was always the red winged demon that he got paired up with. Much to his distaste, he found out that you had become friends with the witch of that red-winged demon.
When Touya and you came across the other witch with a red winged demon during a trip to the grocery store,.
The red winged demon didn’t even try to hide his surprise upon realizing you were Touya's witch. You were intruding into Touya's personal space, yet Touya didn’t growl or swipe at you. Instead, he gently took the snack from your fingers with his teeth in an almost gentle manner, careful not to nibble your fingers with his fangs. He was carrying tote bags filled with groceries. He almost looks like a domesticated demon, compared to the rude and disrespectful demeanor he usually carries. God forbid anyone touches him, Touya doesn't hesitate to swipe, clearly hating any contact. Meanwhile, Touya stared at the red-winged demon with a deadpan expression while chewing on his snack and offering no greeting in return.
Later in the day, the red-winged demon tried to talk to him when you and his witch were talking in front of them. "I would have never thought you would be paired with h-."
"Don't you ever shut up?"
The red-winged demon was the only one who went out of his way to interact with Touya, even when Touya was glaring and cursing at him to leave him alone. It didn’t help that you eventually became best friends with the demon’s witch, much to his dismay, which meant he would see the other demon more often than he would have liked.
Eventually, his demon training class was divided into two because the gap in power levels between high-ranking and low-ranking demons was too significant. It was a brand new program, so they were still working out the kinks and issues that arose. Surprisingly, he wasn't placed with the weaker demons, despite his government rank as a Class F demon due to being a reject, which meant he had never undergone an examination to measure his true power.
It was the new demon teacher who placed him in the upper-level class, the first staff member to treat him without prejudice, which caught him off guard. On the first day, this demon teacher conducted brutal examinations of everyone’s power levels. He failed the flying portion by default, which lowered his ranking slightly. By the end of it, he felt like he was dying, his body overheating. The following day, he received his results along with a new student ID clipped to the paper. The student ID reflected his true power, while the accompanying document included constructive criticism on areas where he could improve.
He has learned a lot in these classes that he once thought would be useless. He eventually warms up to the red-winged demon, Keigo, which makes you extremely happy. It means he will get out more from the dorms and socialize with someone outside of your family. You were worried about him since the only demons that he truly interacted with were your family's demon familiars and witches.
Later on, what was supposed to be a friendly competition among witches from across the country turned into a complete bloody disaster. A group of student witches went rogue and cast a powerful spell that destroyed the barrier protecting the school. There was a wave of rogue witches, and all sorts of demons immediately attacked student witches within the forest. The overwhelming scent of blood drove some of the demon familiars, who were on the sidelines watching the competition, into a frenzy, especially those who lacked self-control. The staff and security were too busy dealing with the attack from outsiders.
It did take a long time for Touya to be able to track you down through the forest, and he was starting to get worried until he smelled the familiar scent of yours and found dead demon bodies on the way. It's not that he doesn't trust your abilities. He knows you can put up a fight, but you will eventually run out of magic that can cost you to lose your life. You are still a young witch.
Eventually, he found you running for your life, throwing powerful spells behind you, but they barely caused any damage to the demon that continued to chase you. You were in a critical condition with blood running down your forehead from an injury. You had deep claw marks on your arm and ripped clothes. The overwhelming scent of yours covered the area, along with your fear.
What got his attention was the same sinister laugh that matched the face of an older demon with burn claw marks on their face done by him. The last day, he was in hell. The same demon was almost successful in killing him. The arms of the demon were completely covered in burn scars. The image of the demon hovering over him, laughing at him, comes to mind, but he isn't as immune to flames as he previously thought.
It became a blur for Touya, who jumped in, attacking from behind the demon, when you were cornered against a tree trunk while your shield broke. The sickening screech and sound of bones breaking while Touya was snapping on the wings of the back of the demon with all of his strength and burning it. It's the most sensitive but also the most powerful thing that demons can have. The result was that he was protecting you and interfering with the demon while you were focused on running forward and not looking behind you. He was being thrown around like a ragdoll but kept coming back and fighting back, which is pissing off the other demon with Touya's persistence.
You used that opportunity to escape and started to run like hell. Your life depended on it while you ignored the animatic noises from behind you. You were charging up kinetic energy while mumbling a cast that would make you fly or jump, even with low magic energy. You were running dangerously low on magic after killing every demon that came at you. The previous demons were low rank and easy to kill, but this one is one whose focus is on you more than anyone else. It won't die, meaning the demon rank is above your current rank of magic.
You could smell the flesh on his body burning and hear the painful roar behind you. You don't even know who is getting hurt, but it is inevitable that Touya is hurting himself and pushing the limits of his body. You could feel the temperature increasing within the forest. He was putting himself between you and the demon.
You also knew for a fact that you were a liability for Touya, because he was holding himself back. The demon is dead set on chasing after you, meaning you are in his way for him to attack the demon with all of his power. Your heart drops each time you feel the presence behind you before it gets attacked by Touya. As much as you didn't want to leave him behind, you had to. With a heavy heart, you launched yourself above the forest, only to have your vision completely covered by complete blue flames destroying the forest below you. You flew away at full speed towards the entrance of the forest, but looked back to see the forest being engulfed in blue flames.
He ended up destroying a massive part of the forest with his flames, incinerating everything in the area. The two demons exchanged heated words. The demon recognized Touya as the one who had escaped and left permanent scars on his body. In a brutal display, the demon ripped off Touya's wings, despite them being nonfunctional.
The physical state of Touya was terrifying to witness, with his whole body being engulfed in blue flames with longer leaf-shaped ears and bigger fangs that could rival the demon in front of him. Despite the excruciating pain and throbbing throughout his body, he kept pushing beyond his body limits.
With his eyes completely white and his mouth wide open, blue flames escaped from his mouth. It was a clear sign that Touya was no longer conscious, but his body kept moving itself, like the natural predator that he was.
Touya's body was barely hanging on, with glowing blue cracks throughout his burnt body while engulfing flames. It is a rare phenomenon for demons to continue on despite no longer being conscious but using their natural instincts. It is an interpretation of the demon's will and deepest desire at death's door. It creates a manifestation that reveals the demon's true power.
With sheer will, he kept attacking restlessly against the demon, who was already scared of him despite having fatal injuries, and his body is literally slowly becoming crackling more and more. Touya kept moving, with his attack growing stronger than the last.
The memories that he saw the most were of you, the only person who believed him and didn't give up on him despite everyone telling you to drop him. He has eavesdropped on multiple conversations during your time at the Academy.
"Thank you for trusting me, Touya." It was the younger self of you when you were making him officially your familiar after the year was up.
Touya was seeing his life flash through his eyes. When he burned the demon to ashes, his broken body, which was once glowing blue, was slowly losing its glow, causing his flames to start burning brighter than ever. He came to a pile of ashes, leaving behind his fireproof boots that burned with missing soles. He burns through them.
Due to the incident, the Demon and Witch Council were summoned to help with the situation. While the Demon Council was evaluating the students and demons, the special pins on their clothes indicated they were demon familiars belonging to one of the university's witches from the forest. It took a bit for them to clean through the forest, which was infested with demons. They couldn't use a spell that would destroy demons when there were demons's familiars fighting by themselves.
You were barely holding it together when you felt the connection to Touya snap and disappear completely, as if he never existed. It could only mean he died protecting you and not letting that demon go after you.
After it was declared cleared and safe, you and many other witches shared the same sentiment, wanting to see their bodies and wanting to get rid of their bodies yourselves as a way of getting closure. There is a rumor going around about someone taking demons and witches' deceased bodies to make them monsters. They are empty vessels with a puppet master manipulating their bodies. A person who has the ability to manipulate dead bodies and use their bodies against their family.
You yourself got into a heated argument with the giant muscular demon, whom you recognized as Touya's father, Endeavor. You hated him for failing to vouch for his own son. When he wouldn't let you walk past him, claiming it would be too dangerous. You just ripped him a new one and surprised him with information that the demon didn't even know. Enji's face changed from annoyance to shock, which only made you stare at him dumbfounded.
"...He was still alive."
"You never looked for him. How else would you have known?" You just stare at him before walking around him into the forest, leaving him in his thoughts and regret.
You could hear the footsteps of other witches joining you and breaking off into different areas. The witches and demons teachers followed suit to ensure their student's safety.
You walked for a while, looking at the area and trying to trace back your steps. It wasn't long until you found the area where it was completely burned, as if it had suffered a wildfire. You kept walking forward until you found his boots and saw a pile of ashes. There was another pile of ashes a few feet away from the boots. You kneel down to lift the fireproof boot to look for the mark that you ordered, having seen the exact one. That's what you needed for your confirmation, before you broke down into sobs.
Meanwhile, Touya was at the crossroads between life and death, not knowing which one was what. The Reaper Demon sat down at a light post, watching him and letting him choose what he wanted to do.
Touya was looking at both roads, annoyed at the demon who wasn't doing their damn job, and unknowingly, his fate of death was quite literally in his hands. Reaper couldn't influence his decision. Typically, there will be only one road, but Touya's circumstances are different as a reject demon and saving your life.
Touya was looking at both roads, seeing that one looked like a typical street-stoned road in hell, as the other road was overrun with vines that would cut his skin if he took that road.
Before his foot touched the stony road, the sound of crying echoed from the other side. He didn't understand how the reaper was unphased. It didn't take long to recognize that you were crying. He completely forgot you even existed; he just knew he had died. The wave of memories throughout his life came at him at once.
Meanwhile at the mortal world, you were sobbing over his ashes while a black-haired demon teacher tried to comfort you. The teacher has seen the blind trust that the two of you had, which is rare. Most witches hold a bit of fear of their familiars, but you had none at all. As if you knew Touya wouldn't miss or hurt you throughout the training exercises. Touya also held the same sentiment towards you when it came to casting spells, knowing you wouldn't hurt him on purpose. The synchronization between the two of you was rare; most witches and their demon familiars take about ten years to achieve such a bond and follow each other’s lead. You managed to do it in half the time, a perfect example of the ideal match between a witch and their demon familiar.
Meanwhile, Touya was running through the pathway filled with vines with thorns, cutting his skin. His body was changing as he kept running. With every cut on his skin, the burn scars slowly disappeared from his body as if they never existed. He was following your voice through the maze. The former marks of a reject demon disappearing from his kin.
He wanted to go home. The image of you smiling at him.
You were mere seconds away from incinerating his ashes completely when a spark of blue flames mixed with orange appeared. Before the flames could consume the ashes, they dimmed, and a new flame emerged, glowing turquoise. The black-haired demon immediately pulled you away from the growing flames, which flickered between orange and blue and continued to increase in size.
The last thing Touya saw at the end of the maze, before the ground below him vanishes. It was an older demon woman with a smile on her lips who said, "Good luck. Touya Todoroki," sitting on top of a light post, before he could ask. His body gets consumed in flames while dropping down to the void.
His head felt it was pounding against his skull, and he felt extremely cold for his liking. He felt his heart racing as if he were in a marathon as his claws dug into the ground underneath. The tiredness in his bones with heavy eyelids was dangerously too close, but he snapped them open when he heard footsteps from behind him with a sharp glare like a wild animal expecting that demon lady, only to see it was you with tear stains on your cheeks. You approached him slowly, ignoring the teacher's advice to keep away.
With his eyes softening at the sight of you, he couldn't help himself.
"Are you crying over little old me?" His voice was hoarse, but it sounded completely different than his usual voice.
His body didn't have a burn scar in sight and looked healthy, but his stare and the way he talked confirmed it was him. You run towards him, seeing him leaning forward to crash to the ground, because he loses consciousness.
He was immediately taken to the hospital to get an examination to check on his health and body. You barely left his side, only left when he was being accompanied by people you trusted, such as your family's demon familiars. The hospital staff keep coming in and checking his vitals. You met a few demon researchers introducing themselves to you before asking permission if they got a sample of blood. You only accepted because you didn't even know what was happening with him. No one did. He is a mystery within the medical field and the demon world. You are aware that he is making history for being a former reject demon to a normal demon.
It is heard of demons coming back from the dead, but Touya's case was different. He came back from the dead, but no longer had the markings on his body or the curse on his wings that would mark him as a reject demon. It was as if he had broken the curse that was once placed on him. The new pair of horns on his head were larger and healthier than his usual ones.
His wings, which had been previously ripped off, were slowly regrowing from his back. These new wings looked healthy, resembling those of a young demon.
With every examination and blood work that they have done, he keeps coming out to be as healthy as a demon can be. The only thing they found different compared to his previous doctor's visit within the bloodwork was that he should be able to manipulate ice.
Touya's hair changed a bit, it was still white with random spots of red. He has a few scars that look to be claw marks from previous fights. There isn't a single burn scar on his body. If they hadn't done a DNA test, they would have thought he was a completely different demon.
It took a few weeks for Touya to wake up from his deep slumber. The theory behind him taking so long to wake up was because he came back from his ashes. It takes a lot of energy and power.
Touya was startled when he woke up to see a completely different person in the reflection of the mirror. It took a while for Touya to stop staring at his reflection and flexing his wings behind his back, which looked nothing like his previous ones that were previously ripped off of him. Shivers run down his spine at the memory of the excruciating pain and throbbing on his back.
He needed to go through a medical examination one last time to ensure everything was working as it was supposed to and there was no pain. It annoyed him, but he did it anyway. He just wanted to go home. It didn't take long for the doctors to come back to let him know that he was a healthy demon, no longer being considered a reject demon. There were no visual marks of the reject demon markings on his body which made Touya not know how to feel about this information.
"Take better care of your body, this time around, boy." The elderly witch tells him and is giving him a lecture on how to do so.
He was sent home, and he did struggle to adjust to his new body, which took a considerable amount of time, especially since he could now feel pain. A sensation he didn't mind. However, it took even longer for him to relearn how to use his wings once they grew in completely to support his weight, having lost the use of his wings since the age of 13. He felt like a baby bird learning how to use his wings.
Due to the discovery that he should be able to do ice manipulation, he was forced to take private sessions to ensure he didn't have a freak accident. It was much harder to get a hold of it, because he kept summoning fire when he wanted ice. He got frustrated and irritated about it.
After a year from the incident, he was requested to do another examination that measures his power, which had never been done before. His rank has changed from Class F to Class S since he is no longer branded as a reject demon. He can actually get a classification of his power. He had to get a new government ID because of the change in appearance and ranking.
With his new body, he was quite aware of being attractive when he was walking behind you throughout the campus, but he never expected it to be this much. He wasn't used to getting this much attention at this rate. The compliments and wolf whistles. It got old pretty fast.
He growled at the witches, who were eying him and touching him as if he were a piece of meat. He was being intimating on purpose and cursing demons too to get out of his personal space. He missed the isolation that he once had because no one wanted to be associated with a reject demon. He became quite popular, being known as the demon who came from the ashes.
He did end up burning a few people as a warning to listen to him when he says to get out of his personal bubble and stop touching him and acting buddy-buddy with him when he has never interacted with them. He expected for you to scold him, but was taken aback when you supported him since you have seen the girl attention he has been getting. He had some witches eying at him before he even got his new body.
"They weren't respecting your personal space after you told them to fuck off. I am not going to chew you out for that. Anyway, do you want to eat at that soba place that opened recently across the street?"
And his father, Enji, has tried to reach out to him, but he has been avoiding him like a deadly plague. He hasn't seen him for over 5 years. There was a pile of letters in a forgotten box somewhere in his room.
He has been going to therapy for over three years now. It was mandatory for all demon familiars, but admittedly, it has helped. It took a while for him to warm up to his therapist. He doesn't want to see his father's face at all.
Without even realizing it, he would go to the ends of the world for you. He will follow you wherever you choose to be, whether it’s as a law-abiding witch or as a rogue witch.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
Unknown to Shouto and you, Endeavor has found him and was watching from the VIP area of the stadium during the annual Competitive Transformation Magic Festival.
It is one of many tournaments for young witches to show off their physical and magical capabilities. It is heavily based on Transformation Magic to transform into their demon familiar for the whole duration of the tournament. The witch is required to use the same or similar magic that their demon familiar has.
Not a lot of witches would want to sign themselves up to do this tournament, because it is incredibly physical and magic demanding. It requires a lot of stamina and knowledge of transformation magic. The slightest imperfection of your physical transform automatically disqualifies you. It is one of the very intense tournaments but is in the top 5 of the most watched tournaments.
There are a lot of potential witches and one event for witch covens to scout any witches to join their covens. This tournamental is for people who are serious about becoming a full fledged witch and giving it their all. There is a possibility of getting sponsors to fund your education as well.
The main motivators that would make Witches sign up is to get attention or the money reward. There is reward money for witches who reach in the top 10. The first place has the highest amount while the tenth place has the lowest reward money.
But for Endeavor, It has been years since he has seen his youngest son, Shouto after running away from home in hell. It happened without signs or warning, Shouto took high valuable things from the mansion to get enormous money in exchange. Shouto had 12 hours to disappear before Endeavour arrived home and realized that he was gone.
Despite Endeavor having a bounty on his son's head in hell. No one was able to officially capture him. He never stays in one spot for too long. He kept his identity a secret and managed to create connections with other demons who covered and protected him. He has been sighted in various areas within Hell. The tips stopped coming in 3 years ago, meaning he was summoned within the moral world.
It took 3 years of patience for Shouto's demon familiar profile to finally show up within the registration system. It was paired with your name attached, claiming you were his witch.Once he got the information, Endeavor started doing his research on you to only seem like a nobody despite being a child from two prestigious witch clans. Neither of your parent's family wanted to claim you. You don't seem like you have any potential according to your government profile. You were an orphan and was raised by your mother's demon who he is very familiar with.
You seem like a weakling and having your name listed who will be competing in this festival with your witch level is laughable. He doesn't even know how you even survive U.A Witch Academy halfway through your basic education. He wasn't expecting, you are able to keep up with witches who have more experience than you. He was surprised to see you climbing up the ranks at the rate it was going throughout the first three rounds.
When your face, more like the transformation of Shouto, comes on the stadium screen causing a specific area of the stadium to go crazy when your ranking is announced.
"Number 111 from U.A Witch University is currently in 20th place!"
That is when he spotted Shouto's hair sticking out among the group of demons that were cheering. It was a way for demons to show. It was the most rowdy group of young demons who were showing their support whenever their witches showed up within the stadium, but they were competing with another University.
Everything he had believed was extremely outdated. You were nowhere close to being witch with the magic ranking of D. You had to be between A and B.
When the tournament involved grabbing a flag and escaping through the infested forest. There were numerous illusion traps to trick the witch.
You didn't flinch at the sound of demonic creations within the infested forest running out of the forest with your destined red flag that you had taken from within. You didn't show an ounce of fear otherwise the creatures within the forest would have attacked. Every illusion that was created of the person that you hold close to your heart that was popping out was immediately destroyed by you using fire.
The smoothest of using the two elements of ice and fire with such ease. You were using it the same way that Shouto uses his powers. For witch to be able to master those elements and be able to change it as quickly as you were, is hours of training and studying Shouto's fighting style.
___________________________________________________________You changed into your clothes while having Shouto's combat clothes in the tote bag to wash. You were completely drained and exhausted but you were satisfied and beyond happy with your ranking of the tournament.
You have made it to the 3rd place meaning no more struggle for a while.
All of the hours of physical training and studying was worth it. You worked your ass off for the past 3 years to keep up with Shouto. You joined the tournament for the money but to prove to yourself that you are strong. You strongly wanted to believe your friend's words that you are strong. But your family has constantly told you that you will never reach their level and not to even try it.
Since your magic took much longer to appear compared to other witches. It took into your late 13th year birthday to finally your magic to appear but you already declared the black sheep on both sides of your parental families.
You are the only child existing within the bloodline to have mixed heritage, an elf-witch and human witch. Your parents have died due to a freak accident, neither side wanted to take you in.
You are the child of their destined black sheep members who actively went against their traditional values.
Your mother's demon familiar, Lotus was the only one who came out of it surviving from the freak accident who took you despite not obliging to. Neither side were against it but agreed to give Lotus full custody of you in the eyes of the law. They didn't care about your wellbeing. You were seen as a burden which is why they didn't fight on Lotus having custody. It was very rare for demons to take it upon themselves to raise a human witch.
Lotus really tried her best to raise you on the way your mother would have wanted to. Lotus was your mother's best friend and confidant. She tried to teach you as much magic as she could. She let you keep your mother's spellbook. She couldn't use it and was never planning to give it to your mother's side of the family.
You love her for it and really appreciate all she has given you. Lotus has tried to keep connected with your family members from both sides of your parents, despite being declared the weak link of the family. Lotus is truly the only one who believed you surpassed your grandmother from your mother's side. Your mother was close to surpassing her. When it was time to do the traditional summon a ritual for your demonic familiar to be rejected repeatedly to see no demon whenever you did it. Lotus believed it was because you didn't have enough magic.
There is a high possibility that you have a strong demon familiar that you have yet to reach or relatively close to their level. It was the same theory given by your teachers. You trained twice as hard and got private training sessions with your teacher, Midnight who believes in you.
To come to find out it was true, your last attempts would have been failures due to not being remotely close to the Shouto's level. Despite it being an accident summoning Shouto, because Shouto didn't come willingly. It was more that he got pushed into the summoning circle. You wouldn't have been able to summon him before because your magic wasn't even remotely close to his level. It did work out at the end. There were no hard feelings on either side.Throughout the last 2 years, you learn more about Shouto and what he likes and dislikes. Who he is aside from being declared one of the prestigious demons to have due to being the offspring to one of the Demon Knight of Hell, Endeavor. He wanted to delay the registration as much as possible knowing his father was watching to see his name on the government system.
You only have heard rumors and stories from Shouto and Lotus about the demon. You only have seen pictures and heard about him through Shouto and Lotus, because you were curious which demon knight that he was related to. Both of them warned you to never be alone with him, to keep walking the opposite direction and ignore him.
When you were walking out of the locker room, immediately the hairs behind your neck were standing up. Your skin raises with goosebumps throughout your body causing you to freeze at the sudden change of the pressure atmosphere."You must be Shouto's witch."You could feel your heart between your ears. You only had to glance to the side to see the side to see Endeavor in all of his glory with his flaming self looking at you as if you were a bug underneath his foot. He was leaning against a wall, but there was something beside that is blind to the human eye. You could feel it there.
From what Lotus have said, he isn't above using intimation tactics to get what he wants.
"I would like you to release Shouto from your familiar contract with you. I have a better suited witch that will make bett-""No." You cut him off, despite wanting to run away underneath his glare.Endeavor sharpens his glare making you feel like you want to hide away, but you maintain your eye contact with him. "No?""If Shouto wants to be released from the contract, I would need to hear it from him. Would you excuse me? I have my mother waiting for m-""I can always force you to release from his contract with you. I believe you value your life more than stupid contract with a demon that you barely know."
That's clearly a threat. You only stare back at Endeavour who takes a few steps forward looking down at you, as you were feeling for the weapon that Lotus had given you for emergencies in your pocket. You were slowly twisting the cap of the small container. As your mind was going through so many scenarios on escaping.
"Is there a problem? Endeavor." A soft but firm voice came from behind you while putting their hand on your shoulder. You jumped at the physical contact to only glance to the side to see two older witches.
Your upperclassmen, Ms.Shuzenji and Ms.Shadou. The tension in the air was decreasing rapidly, seeing the two witches beside you causing him to step back and giving you all space.
You know Ms.Shuzenji got into Endeavor a few years ago with Shouto's brother, Touya who uses the alias of Dabi to protect his identity. The former reject the demon familiar who broke history. You have to be living under a rock if you don't recognize her or her demon.
As for Ms.Shadou, there are rumors that she and her demon familiar who is Death type, survived 2 years in purgatory while missing for 6 months in real life. No one would have thought that they were in that realm. They escape by sheer luck by forcing a portal open. It took almost a month for her to fully recover from casting such a strong spell at her exhausted state. Nevertheless, she is a powerful witch for her age. There is a reason why she is number one of her class.
"No, there isn't a problem."
"Good."You were softly dragged by an arm around your shoulders being put between the two older witches. You couldn't help but glance behind you to see the frustration on the demon's face. You glance between the two witches who have food from the concession stand.
"Has anyone selected you for that mentor training next semester?" Ms.Shuzenji asks you directly, before the three of you arrive outside to hear the stadium going crazy about whatever was happening on the ground.
"No." You hesitate to answer, not knowing what this conversation is going on.
"Would you like me to be your mentor?" She offers with a smile, on her face. You couldn't hold back your expression seeing taken aback by her offer. You haven't received any for the past few months. You couldn't help but feel flustered. You would be an idiot if you rejected her. She has similar power like yours and who could teach you much more than anyone else.
"Yes, if you were willing to take me as your student." You softly smiled back to just nod in return."Why is there a pipsqueak here?"
"Dabi, be nice."There were four demons, but there were two who weren't looking behind him to look at you.
"Can I have my food?" The white hair mixed with black stripes lifted his hand with grabby motions while paying close attention to the stadium, along with the demon who was covered with scales. He looks like he is under stress.
The demon was slouching in his seat with his feet resting on the railing. Without any words exchanged, Ms.Shadou gave the bag. The demon dug into it and held out a candy bar to the scale demon who took it but without taking his eyes from the screen.
You knew there was another tournament going on, but you didn't know it was this more intense. In comparison, your tournament sees there is a camouflage round. If you were to participate next year, this is what you would be doing.
It was weird seeing the demon familiars that you have heard to be unapproachable to seem like they don't care. They seem like normal demons. You believe it was Dabi a few seats over with his feet on the railing along with Hawks who is popular for flirting with witches.
Dabi was looking up and down at you as if he was examining you before turning away when he was given his food. He did shut his mouth when his witch snapped at him to be nice.
"If he ever bothers you again, let me know. I will take care of it. Okay. Let's now take you back on the other side."
