The sun peeked through the thin fabric curtains, Eva stared out into the road. The truck honked and boxes laid upon boxes on the grass, storing any keepsakes to their family name.A subtle ray of light glinted onto the lenses of her glasses, earning a yelp from her lips. This awoke her senses to be interrupted by the sound of her mother yelling from the front lawn, “Hurry up and pack your stuff, Eva!!”She stiffened, clumsily clutching boxes and baggages to her chest and nodding repeatedly, “Yes mom, I’m on my way!!!” Eva shoved her Mary Janes past her heels, dashing down the wobbly steps from her bedroom door. Her mother and the movers were chatting in a friendly manner, exchanging small talk and polite gestures. Her wrists ached, shoving the boxes into the interior of the truck. She sighed with relief once her arms were free from restraint..Eva turned around and looked to the house behind her, reminiscing into precious memories of her childhood, all happened here in this small town of Virginia. And that was the start of her new life in Washington.
----- CHAPTER BREAK -----
It was late afternoon, around 4pm when the Eek family pulled into their new house in Washington. Eva had slept most of the drive, fairly uninterested in the many sites the trip had to offer, she was happily and comfortably resting on the backseat. Kiki, one of her cats laying restfully in her arms purring. As she pet her mostly white fur while looking out the window. The house itself wasn't mindblowing, it looked like the average american house, like the one you would see in every classic romance movie. Eva hated romance movies, she thought they were cheesy, along with most romance. She much preferred to stick to herself, be by herself. Atleast that’s what she thought she knew. The house was fairly big and located in a smaller neighborhood. But the one thing that was most recognisable about it was the weirdly shaped bush out the front curling around the walkway to the door, a tall flagpole reaching out seemingly from inside it with the american flag flapping on top of it. There was also a giant fir tree behind it, could it be the backyard? She was cutoff from her thoughts with the door on the other side opening as her younger brother Hunter leaped out the car running upto the house.God he's an idiot.Eva thought while trying not to laugh as her brother galloped over to the house, almost tripping on the way up the concrete slab. Eva made sure she had a tight grip of Kiki before hopping out of the car and moving slowly towards the house.“This is AMAZING!!” she heard Hunter exclaim as he excitedly spun around, eyes wide open and not a single caution in his actions. Eva was more nervous, it was a massive change from their old childhood house and Eva was more than displeased and anxious. If her dad hadnt got this big business change, she wouldn't have had to leave her friends, school, and house back in virginia, but she was looking forward to a new start, with no bad reputation at school. No one was going to know her, maybe this was a chance to make new friends? She thought as she held Kiki close to her as her father opened the door to a new start. It had been a few hours and the sun had set. They'd unpacked only a little, Eva’s parents arguing that it was too late to unpack everything, after a little bit of protest Eva was able to convince them to allow her just a little bit of her things from what the truck hasn’t bought yet, so there she was in her empty blank room sitting on a mattress on the ground with a few other things laying around listening to music through her airpods, constantly trying to rest her head as the airpods lay against her ear canal as she uncomfortably shifted around. It was just as she was listening to LANA DEL RAY did she hear her mum call her down.“COMING,”she yelled out in response, throwing open the door and trudging down the staircase into the living area.“What do you want?” Eva questioned, reaching up to her face as she pushed her glasses up the ridge of her nose to stop them from slipping. One of her cats, Freddy was walking across the room in the corner of her eye, she looked over, moving toward the cat as her mum spoke.“Your starting school tomorrow sweetie”, her mum replied, reaching up for a tall cabinet.Eva paused, looking at her nervously“Do I have to? Can I just wait until the term is over? Heck even the next semester?”Eva pleaded, she wasn't ready to start school again. She had only just moved, let alone spent at least a day getting to know the area.“No Eva,”her mom insisted, “it'll be good for you. You know you need to socialize, you cant just sit in your room listening to Lana del ray and reading all day”“But I love Lana del ray! AND reading” Eva protested, pleading with her mother.“No Eva, it's final. You're starting tomorrow, it's late. Please get some sleep.”Eva was disappointed as she stooped back up the stairs into her empty room, letting out a defeated sigh as she basically flopped onto her mattress, turning lana del ray on and anxiously praying that tomorrow was going to be a good day, and before she could even realize she forgot to brush her teeth and have a shower, the excitement and exhaustion of the day had caught upto her and she drifted off into peaceful sleep.
