Work Text

Spring has arrived in the Shire. And what better to do then be outside, with the lovely sun and fresh grass to walk on. The sparkling sun shone down upon two creatures, outside in the warm temperature, on a certain little adventure."Uncle Bilbo, I'm.. scared."The hobbit voice spoke. It was not a Took that spoke. Nor a Sackville that spoke. It was a young, little hobbit of the age of 21 years old. Namely, Frodo Baggins."Oh, Frodo, i told you there's nothing to be frightened of. I'm right here with you."The other hobbit spoke. This hobbit was much older than the youngling. He was around 99 years old. This was Bilbo Baggins, Frodo's uncle/nephew. Though Frodo saw him more as an uncle than anything."Uncle, it's starting to move.."
Frodo fixed his eyes upon the large crystal clear blue butterfly, gently fluttering its wings, as it was sitting on a green leaf. The two hobbits were out in the shire, searching for butterflies. They had their own two nets, which they were holding.Bilbo gazed at the butterfly, then over to Frodo. "Frodo, don't forget the courage you have." He placed a hand on the young hobbit's shoulder. "It won't hurt you." He let his hand off Frodo's shoulder, smiling.Frodo took a deep sigh, gathering all his strength to capture the butterfly before it disappeared out of their reach. Frodo gently approached the butterfly and raised his net, and with a blink of an eye, it was caught!"Frodo! You did it! Remarkable work, my boy!" Bilbo praised, walking over to the surprised Frodo. He held the net cautiously as to not squeeze the butterfly's fragile body."Uncle, thank you for being here. Though , I don't want to have it trapped in this net forever.." His blue eyes looked up at Bilbo. Frodo was a warm and gentle hobbit, who wouldn't dare to hurt the innocent. He cared about others a lot."Right, you may feel free to release it, my boy. Just know this was for practise, as it is important you learn some skills in nature." Bilbo smiled warmly, as the young one opened the wide hole for the butterfly to fly out, spreading its wings.Bilbo patted Frodo on his curly hair, and asked. "How about we go inside and make ourselves a nice lunch?" Food was a hobbit's passion. Truly, they couldn't live without the pleasure of meals. They have huge appetites, thus leading them to having seven meals everyday to satisfy their hunger needs.Frodo nodded and Bilbo took Frodo's hand, as they went back inside the hobbit hole, peacefully spending the rest of the day eating. And, Bilbo learning Frodo about the world and how valuable life is.
