It hadn't been long since the two started to get along with one another, give or take two to three months. Eighth year is a sweeter sort of experience, they all finally get the chance to enjoy life, no madman running after them, no crazy beasts attempting to murder them, just sweet domestic bliss. That's what Harry had assumed when he saw that all the Gryffindors had come back to Hogwarts, save for Ron, it hadn't occurred to him that the other houses weren't doing too well in terms of numbers. Well, perhaps not houses but a house, to no one's surprise, besides Harry's apparently, only one person sat before them from the ambitious and cunning House Of Slytherin. Draco Malfoy. Looking freshly tired, bags under his eyes where they had never been seen apart from Sixth year, Draco Malfoy sat beside Harry Potter. Harry couldn't make sense of it all. First, he didn't understand why no one had come back, sure the Slytherins weren't the most liked as of right now but only Draco? absurd. He thought at the very least that pug-looking girl would've come back, she always made it a point to follow wherever Draco did. And second, why in the world was Draco sitting next to him of all people?? but that isn't even half as odd as having him lean against him, which is happening right now!! Look. Harry isn't the stupid kid he used to be and Draco isn't either, and he is trying to keep his cool, but what's he meant to do when blonde hair is just sprawled on his shoulder and a cheek is pressed against his bone? his body's so stiff he's not sure how Draco was finding it remotely comfortable. When McGonagall started her welcoming speech Harry tried his hardest to pay attention and ignore whatever farcical physical contact he was currently getting, he found himself cowering away at the thought of talking to Draco about this, perhaps the war tainted his Gryffindor bravery.-x-Now two months into the school year Harry finally got used to all the casual touches, in fact, he reciprocates them. Sure, he and Draco aren't best friends, but they are friends, just don't mention it to Draco because he's shy."Do we seriously have to spend two hours a day here?" Harry exasperatedly asks, Draco's head on his lap, as the other continues eating away at his preposterous pile of books. How Draco finds it in him to read all this rubbish Harry can never tell."If you don't like it you can always go away, Potter." Draco hisses.Harry hums, his fingers lodged into the pale-blonde hair, gently stroking. "Yes, I could, but then you'd miss me."  He heaves a sigh, mimicking a mournful frown. Draco sneers at him and brings his book back into his pointy nose so he can continue wasting not only his time but also Harry's, honestly, if he hadn't taught Draco compromising he would have been dragging him out of the library and into Hogsmeade. That'll be for lunch though. A comfortable silence fills the room as Harry continues massaging Draco's head and Draco continues reading his book. They still get odd glances here and there from other students, he finds it comical the bulging eyes and gaping mouths, Draco doesn't like it. Harry's gaze drops down to where his hand is fixed on the blonde hair.  It's truly beautiful, he thinks. If he had to imagine what an aristocrat looked like it would be Draco. The pale almost white blonde straight hair, his silver eyes, his pointy features, even his hilarious attitude fit. He had noticed all these traits back in First year, it's something that must be borne, unmistakable.Their childish rivalry got in the way of his thoughts being voiced, but they never really changed, surprisingly. Even after seven years of animosity, art is timeless.Sharp eyes locked with his, breaking his train of thought. "Are you just going to keep staring at my face, Potter?" Draco grumbles, placing his book back down on his chest, Harry didn't even realize he was staring. "We're surrounded by books, go pick something out." He wisps another thoughtful hum, "I read enough with all the homework we get." "That's because you're a moron who only enjoys Quidditch and spelling people's arses off,"  Draco huffs before getting up from Harry's lap and standing, "Hogsmeade, right?" He asks annoyed, "Well get up then."-x-Four months into the year Harry is alone in a classroom with Draco trying to teach him basic potions, at times like this Harry truly wishes he had Snape's book. How is he supposed to make it through his N.E.W.Ts without even knowing how to properly brew a Wiggenweld Potion? If only he hadn't lost tha-A book harshly being shut reverts his thoughts back, a seething Draco crosses his arms, huffs, and stares at Harry bleakly, "What did I just say, Harry?" he bellows.Harry laughs cautiously and tries to talk his way out. He fails miserably.-x-"Draco, come on let's go to the party, it'll be fun," Harry whines for the hundredth time that day, "I promise we won't even have to stay long!"There's a party tonight, one for Eighth years like there is every week. Usually, the Hufflepuffs throw them but tonight Gryffindor is hosting. More specifically, Harry and Hermione are hosting. Ron passed his most important exam for Auror training and is coming to visit them for the weekend, they couldn't not throw him a surprise party. Everything is going smoothly, plans wise that is. There is only one problem. Harry's favorite personal problem.Draco Malfoy.Draco refuses to come. He hates parties, never goes to any of them, and since Harry refuses to go without Draco he doesn't go either, but tonight he can't just bail and take Draco to the Great Lake and stay there for hours, or to Hogsmeade to get an inn where they can sleep peacefully together, or the Library, or stargaze at the astronomy tower, or honestly anywhere at all. He has to be at the party and Draco just has to come with him. "I'm tired, Harry." Draco squints at him. "Let's just sleep, yeah?" Draco lifts up his blanket in a welcoming way and scoots back a bit to make space for Harry. Normally this would get Harry, he'd get in, hug Draco, and just completely melt, he wouldn't even care about what he initially wanted in the morning, just blissfully remember the invite and smile. But today he can't afford to lose due to his lack of self-control, no, today he needs Draco out of bed and into the room of requirement before Ron arrives at Hogwarts, where the party is. Where everyone will be. He had around thirty minutes till Ron arrives and he's perfectly content spending them all attempting to get this whiny git out of bed.As Draco looks up at him expectantly, still waiting, Harry turns around and slowly starts making his way to the door. It takes all but around five seconds for him to hear shuffling and then have his wrist held and his name called out. They're codependent, him and Draco, it's conveniently always working for Harry. He turns around and grins devilishly at Draco, just happy to have finally gotten him out of bed. Draco furrows his eyebrows and gives his most disapproving sneer before letting go of Harry's arm and giving his best effort at heading back to bed. Whatever efforts he exerted were quickly made useless by Harry before he was dragged into the bathroom to get ready.-x-Harry is laughing, loudly might he add, he's not sure why but he just knows he's so happy. He has his arm draped over Draco's shoulders on the couch and he's watching as his best friends flirt, they're helpless at it, he can't help but think. So he leans in, just enough where he can hear Draco breathe and he whispers into his ear "They're rubbish at it, don't you think." He uses his half-empty glass to point at them.He can see Draco raise his eyebrow and give him a disbelieving laugh, it has him taking a deep breath, it's so pretty, and he wants to hear it again, he wants to be consumed by it entirely. He can hear Draco tell him something but he's too distracted by his red lips moving and wrapping around each syllable."You're so gorgeous." Harry admits, he's not sure why but his stomach is doing all sorts of twists and turns when he sees the bashful smile that etches its way onto Draco's face. Harry smiles back and leans in, he wants to get closer, he's the loveliest thing Harry has ever seen- ever will see, and he just wants to know what such beauty tastes like.Yet when he comes in to steal a kiss for himself, keep it all to himself, Draco turns his face like the selfish man he is, but he doesn't complain when he can only kiss Draco's warm cheek. He just chases again, he's a seeker after all, but again he only gets to kiss the front of Draco's hand. This time he complains, because it's killing him that he doesn't know what Draco tastes like, what he feels like against his lips. "Why?" He looks at him pleadingly, he really, really wants this.He doesn't understand why Draco won't give it to him, "You're drunk, Harry." He sees the soft smile Draco's wearing and the soft tone he's using and he just wants to crumble into his arms, was being drunk the issue?"I'm—I'm not, Draco." he breaths out, when Draco gets up from the couch Harry instantly tries to follow along, but he's being pushed down by some unknown force and Harry thinks it's gravity, he'll have to teach it a thing or two when he relocates his wand. He starts looking for it around the couch but he can't seem to find it anywhere, Draco is going to be so mad at him for this, he always did tell Harry to place it in his— Oh! he pulls his wand out of his sleeve. So that's where that was, he thanks Merlin he has Draco, how would he have found his wand without that lovely man? Oh, Harry was so lucky to have him as his friend, he hates the stupid forces keeping them apart (aka gravity)."Where are you, you daft pest?" he asks as he waves his wand around intimidatingly, he's sure to scare it away, he has to get to Draco soon. But before he can, Draco comes back with a glass in his hand, and an amused smile playing at his lips, "What are you doing, Harry?" He asks before sitting down next to him trying to follow Harry's searching eyes.Harry looks up at him confused before breaking out into a large grin, he puts his wand back into his sleeve and makes a mental note to attack gravity another day, right now he has his Draco in front of him. "Hi," He murmurs excitedly. "Where did you go?""Hi," Draco replies back before passing the glass over to Harry, "I went to get you some water." Draco smiles back, and the urge to kiss is almost suffocating. But right now he has a glass of water the loveliest man gave him and he's honestly melting, how did he know Harry was thirsty? Before Harry knew it he had the glass to his lips while still smiling, turns out, he can't believe no one has ever told him this before, but you can't just grin and drink water, it ends up spilling and you barely get to drink anything. That's what happens, but god because Draco is just so perfect he quickly takes the glass away from Harry and spells the water out of Harry's clothes, then he helps Harry drink the water, and successfully might Harry add. "Let's go back to bed, Harry." Draco suggests when Harry tries to kiss him again. -x-The next morning Harry isn't quite sure what happened last night. No, in fact, he's not sure at all why he's in Draco's bed or why he has Draco in his arms, not that he's complaining. He's actually not complaining so much that he's holding his breath in as to make sure he doesn't wake Draco up by mistake and interrupt this heavenly moment. But the instant he lets go Draco starts shifting around in his arms and Harry assumes he'll be pushed off, and yet when Draco finally stops moving and his eyes are locked with Harry's he gives him a wide grin and leans forward to press their lips together. Oh, god, this is perfect. It's so perfect Harry can't help but lean in closer and just melt while having the entire world in his arms.
FIN.
