"ACK!!" a 15-year-old yelped, dropping from a swirling portal of violet-tinged black energy and yellow-tinged white energy a second before the teen's stomach connected with the ground; their breath knocked out of them. They let out a sound somewhere between a gasp of pain and a whistle as someone else fell from the portal atop them before it vanished entirely. The other person promptly scrambled off her companion, landing onto her bum with her gloved hands against the ground. She lowered her knees, shifting to sit cross-legged whilst the younger vigilante moved into a crawling position before the 15-year-old sat in seiza."Any idea where we are, Cass?" they asked, their mouth and chin all that were visible from the odd helmet they had on their head. The cisgender lady, her entire face covered by and eyeless mask with a pair of pointed bat ears, shook her head. "...Dammit."The two stood up before darting on silent feet into the nearest alleyway, running through as many different alleys of the unfamiliar city for approximately an hour, and finally in one alleyway shimmying out of their bizarre outfits into casual clothes which had been tightly packed into their matching yellow utility belts. One half of the duo pulled out a thin yet durable light grey fabric bag to store their vigilantism attire into then they both strolled out of the alleyway as if they were ordinary citizens.Soon, they sat in a coffee shop sipping warm cocoa or an iced tea."My phone's not working," the teen with medium brown skin said, holding up a yellow-cased smartphone with their right hand.Cassandra Wǔ-Sân stirred her cocoa with a teaspoon while she pulled a black-cased smartphone out of her lavender jeans' pocket to press on its touchscreen in specific ways with her left hand's thumb. "No signal.""Ha!!" Duke Thomas couldn't help letting out a brief laugh at the accidental pun, but soon frowned. "Since neither of our phones work, I guess we'll be going home the old-fashioned way?"Cassandra nodded then drank the rest of her cocoa in one gulp whilst Duke finished their iced tea.The two had barely stood up when their vigilante instincts screamed at them to duck. Something large smashed through the window next to the booth they had been sitting on. With a somersault along the floor, the duo went into opposite directions before springing into a standing position."The Minotaur?" Duke mumbled, "Aaaand of course we can't call Diana to come handle him."Cassandra already ran towards the beast and leapt into the air with a pirouette to get close to him quicker, grabbing his horns to swing herself up onto his upper back just as he prepared to charge. The naked mythological creature bellowed wordlessly before trying to grab Cassandra with his meaty hands, but failed thanks to her constantly bending and wriggling in just the right ways for his large fingers to miss her. The floor shook as the Minotaur stomped around, shaking his head and still struggling to grab the pale-skinned yet warm-toned human (Homo sapiens). With an amused shake of their head at how not even in New York could they avoid landing in trouble, Duke went around guiding the coffee shop's employees and customers out of the area. Some took more convincing than others, but Duke was from Gotham; they was used to knowing how to tell stubborn arseholes to get to safety. However, one thing confused Duke. Why do they think the Minotaur is a gang member? I guess he could be, but it's still kinda weird...A blonde cisgender girl around Duke's age ran forward and stabbed the Minotaur's chest with a mákhaira. The bull-headed beast with a dirt-ridden and pale-skinned human body turned into golden dust, Cassandra landing on her feet without a sound. The blonde's mákhaira instantly turned into a hair-clip with a white dove attached to it and she clipped part of her messy fringe away from her eyes with it. She grinned at Cassandra. "You're pretty cool!! Most of us would hesitate before trying to fight the Minotaur.""Thanks," the ravenette replied, smiling. She started walking away from the other gal, towards Duke. The blonde held out her pale hand towards Cassandra's back. "Wait!!" She jogged to stand beside the duo then walked out of the ruined coffee shop with them, watching with her eyebrows furrowed and her head tilted as the two kept trying to use smartphones that obviously weren't functioning."So much for B paying for the damages..." Duke muttered with a scowl on their face, Cassandra nodding her head as she frowned. The three of them were now beginning to walk into a random direction on the street when an adult (probably in their 30s) called out: "Wait!!"Hearing the sound of a police car, the two teens and one 22-year-old ran.A.N. (Author's Note): I'm not gonna even try to use logic when writing this. It's tagged as Crack for a reason.I ran out of tags coz there's only a small amount allowed on this website, so gonna clarify something here; each timeline the dynamic duo crashes into is an A.M. (Alternate Multiverse) that contradicts canon of that franchise. Plus they themselves are from an A.M. that's my own version of the 'D.C.' (1937) franchise.TRIGGER WARNING: There won't be any on-screen rape scenes nor sex scenes, but the beginning & aftermath of those might be shown. There also might be sexual assault shown and there definitely will be physical abuse (plus murder) & emotional abuse shown, including classism & ableism & specieism (an umbrella term for species-based prejudice that can further be divided into specific categories of bigotry based on whether the victim either is or is thought by the perpetrator to be an alien, a metahuman, a mage, a ghost, etc.) & racism & sexism & transphobia & arophobia & acephobia & biphobia & homophobia etc. However, most focus of this story is on happy times!! (...I miss the days when I didn't know 'bout how shitty Real Life is, coz at least then I woulda been able to write a story with no prejudiced bigotry in it; now my broken brain outright can't imagine a World that's safe & where I'd be happy.)Duke Thomas (except their clothes are different In-Story than here):
