Too late. Too late. Too late.
The words rang in Asami’s head as she ran down the alleyway. She already knew she wouldn’t find them. The Red Lotus had already found the new Avatar and killed them. Would the cycle continue or would it end? Asami knew she should hope for the best, but it was hard. She dashed into the doorway and found herself face to face with Mako.
He shook his head.
“Anything?”
“No. All killed. Even the parents.”
Asami sighed, tears pooling in her eyes. “Do you think there’s any chance that the next Avatar will… make it?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t think Korra would…” They both looked away. “Do we keep searching?” Asami asked. “Where do we search?” “Let's hope the Avatar Cycle continues,” Mako replied, leading her out of the alley. “Our only hope is to search the Firebenders.” Asami nodded, then let him lead her away.
