Marinette bit her lip as she walked inside her parent's bakery. She had still been thinking about the previous events that had happened at her school today. She sighed and greeted her parents, Tom and Sabine, smiling at them, and took a few scones before heading upstairs to her bedroom. She put her bag aside on a hook rack and went to her armchair and flopped on it, groaning.
Marinette sighed again before sitting up a few minutes later, she was going to design some clothes or atleast sketch out something. She got up and went to her desk and saw a small box, she blinked, deciding that this must have been a gift from her parents or something for her first day at school. Marinette sat down on her chair as she opened it, she screamed when she saw a bright pink light, shielding her eyes from it with her arm.
Once the light died down Marinette saw a bug..? Mouse.. thingy that was floating, she stared at it stupidly, blinking rapidly, suddenly she heard her Maman shout, snapping her out of it “Marinette? Is everything alright up there?” Sabine yelled as suddenly the bug mouse thingie nodded fastly “Everythings alright maman! I thought I saw a fly but it was nothing!” Marinette shouted before looking down at the bug mouse thingie..? She didn’t know why she had said it, why she had covered for the thing, she just suddenly felt… compelled to do so for some reason.
“What are you? Who are you? And why are you so small and red” Marinette blurted out, grabbing a cup standing up from her chair, and backing away from it “Please relax Marinette, we don't have a lot of time. My name is Tikki, the kwami of creation and luck.” Tikki said with a somewhat squeaky voice. “You're a kwa-what now? And how do you know my name?” Marinette said, still holding up the cup.
“A kwami, basically a tiny god, I am your kwami now” Tikki explained “You have the power to be a superhero now. All you have to do is put on your earrings and I will tell you what to do.”
“I'm sorry what!? Me, the clumsiest person ever alive has the power to be a superhero..and my earrings– my earrings? Who even gave you to me and how did they get in my room? Is this a prank by Chloe? She’s been getting better but–” Marinette rambled, half yelling quietly, furiously, suddenly the bakery shook and there could be chaos heard from the opened window
“Marinette, please just listen to me, we do not have a lot of time.” Tikki said hurriedly, Marinette nodded with a confused, dazed expression on her face
“Once you put the earrings on say the words ‘Tikki spots on’ or ‘Spots on’ you will then be transformed into your costume, to detransform you have to say ‘Tikki spots off’ or ‘Spots off’ It does not matter what volume you use, you just have to say the words, quietly or loudly, it doesn't matter.” Tikki said before taking another breath
“Once you're transformed into your costume..oh! Your costume, you can change it into whatever you feel comfortable in. But it is normally spandex as the default. You will also have the power to call upon a ‘lucky charm’ but after 5 minutes you will detransform, the time limit will expand as you become more intune with the magic of the miraculous.” Tikki said, finishing.
“But… but..me!? How am I supposed to be a hero? Someone else would probably be better, who even picked this and what is that thing outside!?” Marinette said, panicking and pacing “Marinette, calm down, that is an Akuma, it is summoned from the butterfly miraculous and, Marinette you are kind and creative at heart, that’s why the guardian picked you. I will explain everything after you defeat the Akuma.” Tikki said calming Marinette down a bit
“Before you transform, when you defeat the akuma there will be a small white butterfly, you have to capture it in your yo-yo and de-akumatize it” Tikki said before blinking remembering something “You will also have a partner, they will have the cat miraculous which has the power of destruction and chaos.”
“The cat and ladybug miraculous balance each other out, one can not be without another for long as it is of the cycle of life.” Tikki said while Marinette put on the earrings biting her lip “But how will I know I can do this? I’m just a normal girl with a normal life” Marinette said, her gaze dropping to the floor and then to Tikki “Marinette, you have always been far from normal, and I believe you know that. Embrace it. Being not normal is a gift, not many people have the pleasure of not being normal.”
“You
can
do this Marinette, just believe in yourself!” Tikki said with a smile on her face, Marinette nodded, sighing “How do I transform and detransform again?”
“Just say ‘Tikki spots on’ or ‘spots on’ you will then be transformed into your costume, and to detransform you have to say ‘Tikki spots off’ or ‘spots off’” Tikki said repeating her words from earlier
“Right, yeah I can totally do this.” Marinette mumbled “Uhh..Tikki spots on?” Marinette whispered slightly, her voice quivering.
Marinette walked over to the mirror almost screaming at her costume before covering her mouth, as she remembered her parents were still downstairs. The costume was skin-tight and spandex.
“Tikki spots off!” Marinette whisper yelled “Marinette, what's wrong? You must hurry!” Tikki said as she popped up “Why is my costume so skin tight? And bright and easy to spot and it has no armor at all and-“ Marinette said before Tikki cut her off
“Marinette, take a deep breath.” Tikki said before talking again “Just think about what you want to wear, and you’ll see it.
Now go
!” Marinette nodded, taking a deep breath and thinking for a moment before she transformed again. She went to the mirror releasing a shaky sigh.
“Ok great.. right.” She grabbed the yo-yo from her waist looking at it blinking “What am I supposed to do with this?” She murmured before suddenly the bottom of the yo-yo lit up with a gold light starting to float. Marinette stared in amazement “Wo- AHHH!!” Marinette said cutting herself off when the yoyo pulled up and flew out of the balcony, she gripped the string, sure it was going to snap at the rate it was going.
Marinette held on tightly to the rope as she started to glide, her wings starting to slow down. She released a breath she didn’t know she was holding. Marinette saw someone standing on a roof and when she got closer she saw them.
They had cat ears, so she guessed they were her new partner because Tikki had said the ‘cat’ miraculous would be her holder. The yo-yo flew over to them and stopped just above the roof and she fluttered her wings to make the land a bit softer
“I’m guessing you're my new partner” Adrien said, holding his staff behind his back, and walking towards her “My names Marinette, and you?” Marinette said as Adrien’s eyes lit up in recognition “Adrien.” He said, grinning.
“Oh..at least we somewhat know each other?” Marinette said and Adrien laughed before the ground shook again
“Right, Akuma, did your kwami explain what they are?” Marinette said quickly “Yeah he somewhat explained, I know the gist of it.” Adrien said, nodding stiffly. “Shouldn't we have superhero names? All the comics I've read have them to protect their family” Adrien said excitedly
Marinette blinked “Right, uhm I guess I’ll be Coccinelle. What about you?” Marinette said “Chat noir” Adrien said as Marinette nodded “Alright uhm..let’s go defeat a villain..?”
“That’s what I forgot! Oh no! Master will be very mad when he finds out” Tikki said floating and pacing as Marinette and Adrien looked confused as Plagg ate a piece half cheese croissant “Chill out sugar cube, he won’t know if we don’t tell him”
“Wait, wait who? The guardian who Tikki won’t tell me about and find out what?” Marinette said confused as Tikki slowed down “Both of you were never supposed to find out each other's identities. Since I was rushing I forgot to tell you that”
“
What!?”
Adrien and Marinette shouted at the same time “Why? Wouldn’t that make our jobs harder?” Adrien said after a few seconds looking curious
“Basically if you two know each other's identity and one of you gets akumatized hawkmoth finds out your identity…you got any more cheese croissants? Plagg said as he finished the rest of the croissant. Marinette handed him another one before saying “Well then we won’t be akumatized” Marinette said in a firm voice and Adrien nodded while Tikki and Plagg glanced at each other, nodding.
“Well, the rule was a bit stupid..” Tikki said as this rule had never once been done before. “YES!!” Adrien said high-fiving Marinette
Marinette paled, remembering something “I have to go before my parents notice I’m gone… It's been hours, Tikki are you ready?” Marinette said as Tikki nodded “oh, I have a photo shoot soon crap” Adrien said as he glanced at Plagg who looked nowhere near ready “no, no, no pleASEE” Plagg said as Adrien called upon his transformation then Marinette did the same.
“I’ll see you at school tomorrow?” Adrien said as they walked towards a window “Yep! Bug out!” Marinette said jumping out of it with Adrien following her lead, they both went to where they were supposed to be.
Marinette dropped down from her balcony detransforming as she dropped. “That was so scary Tikki but soo fun!” Marinette said, grinning, going and sitting down at her desk “RIght!!” Tikki exclaimed giggling, she sat on Marinette's shoulder as Marinette gave her a macaron.
Marinette went to start designing before she remembered something “Tikki?” She asked “Yes Marinette?” Tikki said “Earlier, when I was about to transform for the first time you said you'd tell me more about my powers, did you mean that lucky charm and purification of the Akuma aren't my only power? And does Adrien have more powers too?” Marinette said as she sat down the hook and thread she was holding.
“Yes Marinette! As you age more..you and Adrien will gain more powers like on your time limit for using your powers. Unless you're a true holder or not.” Tikki said, chewing on a macaron. “True holder?” Marinette questioned “True holders are the people who are destined to hold the miraculous.” Tikki said, swallowing her food as she moved from Marinette’s shoulder flying in front of her above the desk.
“How will I know that I'm a true holder?” Marinette said as Tikki beamed at her “You will just know Marinette! The miraculous, after using it for about a week or so the miraculous will be able to tell if you're a true holder. If you're transformed while it chooses you, your suit and earrings will glow a bright red, kind of like your transformation but brighter.”
“Right, ok uhm the transformation? Is there a way not to make it glow so brightly in case I'm in a small place or light comes through?” Marinette said softly and picked up a hook and some yarn so she could crochet while talking because she was starting to play with her hands “Mhm! Just think about it like your suit while you're transforming.” Tikki said watching Marinette as she was now finished with her macaron.
Marinette started to crochet a cat plushie for some reason. “What powers do Adrien and I have besides Lucky charm and Cataclysm? And does being a true holder give us more powers?” She asked. “Hmm since im pretty sure you already noticed as you didnt get hurt as much during the battle but you and Adrien have a small amount of super speed and super strength, and since you and Adrien have the miraculous that you do, you have the ability to jump a bit higher than average” Tikki said softly
“You have a few more but I think it'll be fun for you to figure it out yourself.” Tikki said with a mischievous smile.. Hey! Just because she was the kwami of luck doesn't mean she can't have her own fun! “And yeah you get extra powers if you're a true holder!! Well- it's more like traits but yes you get more powers if you view it that way” Tikki said
“What do you mean how I view it and it'll be fun to figure out?” Marinette said as Tikki simply smiled and giggled, amused “How about you get some sleep Marinette? It's late at night and you have school tomorrow!” TIkki avoided the question as Marinette checked the time and paled “ITS 11 PM ALREADY?!” Marinette almost yelled, shocked as she put her crochet stuff down and ran to get dressed for bed and go to sleep for school tomorrow as Tikki giggled at her
Adrien landed in his room “Claws in” Adrien said as he walked over to the couch where he had thrown the remote earlier before he left, he grabbed it and closed the window as Plagg appeared and Adrien threw him a piece of cheese as he didn't have any camembert right now.
“That was amazing!” Adrien exclaimed excitedly “Don't be too excited kid, you still have to defeat hawkmoth” Plagg said floating as he ate the cheese “Plagg? Earlier, when we were fighting, Marinette mentioned that her kwami, Tikki, said that we would have more powers, what are my powers?” Adrien asked plopping down on his sofa as he was already in bed clothes before he had left to fight Stoneheart
“Oh, kid right, your powers are basically cataclysm obviously and uh chaos and all that and destruction” Plagg said lazily lying on a pillow “Cool!” Adrien said, his eyes lighting up “And there's also the power ups” Plagg said as he threw the rest of his cheese up in the air catching it with his mouth chewing. “Power ups?” Adrien questioned, Plagg ignored him.
“Time for bed i guess” Adrien said as he walked over to his bed, collapsing on the bed, sighing as Plagg turned off the lights “Night kid” Plagg said laying on a pillow as Adrien fell asleep and he hid a small smile even though, he knew no one would see it.
Butterflies flapped around as a window closed, and there stood a man, Hawkmoth, in the center of the room. A woman in the background. “Someday, the miraculous
will
be all mine, and I don't care how many enemies I need to throw at you to win.” Hawkmoth balled his fist “but I
will
be victorious!” Hawkmoth yelled as the room evolved into darkness.
