Work Text

The Haruno clan was one of the first clans to join the Hidden Leaf, respectfully known for their high chakra reserves, great skill in genjutsu, and special dojutsu. It was called the Ilumigan. Out of spite, they were considered distant cousins of the Hyuuga clan because they shared a similar dojutsu.

When gossipers were asked why, they mainly mentioned how Hyuuga members have pale pupilless white irises, and Haruno members have pale, pupilless green irises instead. It’s vaguely similar in that matter, but other than having eye dojutsu that could see what regular eyes can’t, and having distinguishable eye changes when activated – there wasn’t much resembling the two at all.

Other than similarities, there were various types of differences to count. A Hyuuga’s eyes can see through objects and even a person’s chakra pathway system. Whereas, a Haruno’s eyes can figure out the aura of an object or person by looking at it. They gain not that but can also see into the future. Of course, only a few could have seen

far

in the future. Most of them could only see seconds, or a couple minutes in the future.

There wasn’t much information on the scarce population that could be seen far in the future, records only stated they started a group called the ‘Network’ and that the ancient members in said group could see years and even countless millennia in the future…

A pink-haired girl shut the book to a close, finding that information unfulfilling to her liking. It’s not possible for one to see too far into the future without completely overriding one's brain with information into a vegetative state.

Ah, of course, however, she only knows of the side effects from her family. She wasn't quite able to unlock her dojutsu yet, despite it being accessible the moment the user was born…

…Strange.

Her family had only told her that some members of the dojutsu were simply just late-bloomers, but when it came to the clan records created by the elders, it was obvious that they were contradicting themselves. Perhaps she was a little too fixated on the mysteries of her clan. Like, she wanted to figure out why her clan was so short on members. For now, it was only her grandmother, mother, father, and a handful of other relatives – and frankly, asking her parents was seemingly a lost hope and would result in nothing but more retellings of the great elders of the clan and how it came to be. Comparing this population to other clans like the Uchiha, or the Hyuga, hers wasn't that grandiose despite being one of the first clans to traverse and live at Konoha

and

the second strongest.

Sakura Haruno, the stoic prodigy of the reserved Haruno clan, is one of the only

two

geniuses at the academy currently and only came second to the Uchiha

.

Second. The title felt bitter on her tongue. There’s nothing worse than being named second. Of course, you could always just end up failing the class, but there’s always a group of failures that would bond over being failures and whatever bare minimum they believed they accomplished.

Getting third place could be bad, but at least they get the reassurance and praise that they tried.

Being in second place was the worst of all because the pitying glances and the murmurs of how she could’ve never stood a chance compared to who got first place – was overall,  completely insufferable. All they do is talk and talk about how there’s always next time, or how the competition was too strong—Taijutsu training, ninjutsu training, kunai practice, infiltrating classes.

Just ties, ties, ties, and more ties. It’s honestly crazy to her that the only class she lost to Sasuke was that damned spelling bee. Sakura could never forget the blank look on his face when he got a little sticker on his testing paper. He was undeserving of it, that ungovernable Uchiha could care less about anything relating to the academy unless it involved him graduating. The adults say that his quarrelsome personality is something that all kids experience, but as Sakura thought about that look in his eyes… it bore no childish rebellion origin.

But, when she mused it over. It was because of him that she always felt a need to get stronger.

Suddenly, the evening bell rang throughout the clan residence signifying supper, the sound obstructingly cutting her off from her thoughts. She realigned the book on her bookshelf, and with a short, aggravated huff from being interrupted, stood up and went to the dining hall.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

“

When I pass, I want the ceremony to be held on high-noon..”

“High-noon? But the closest is one month from now, you surely can’t believe…!”

“Place my coffin beneath those two Sakura trees, I want to be laid next to my husband...”

Boa Haruno, her grandmother, passed away the next month, she suffered a cardiac arrest in her sleep, and the catalyst of the cause was her obstructive sleep apnea.

‘

Her death was likely to happen,’

Sakura mused, observing her mother sobbing into her father's arms as the mortician did his final task before he could finally be paid, burying the grave.

‘She was old, too, they should’ve seen it coming.’

She didn’t cry, she didn’t lash out in anger or deny the prospect of her death…

There was nothing.

“You must keep your emotions in check, Sakura!”

“At this rate, you’ll never unlock your dojutsu! As the successor and heir of the Haruno clan, you must awaken it!”

“Meditation is key! Your emotions are inhibiting your full potential!”

The cemetery was large, with almost a century's worth of headstones lined up starting from the entrance following the stone path lined with beautiful freshly blossomed cherry blossoms moving up to where her grandmother's grave now lay, right next to her husband.

‘Now there were only two generations left alive besides the few elders.’

She pondered, finding her gaze moving upwards to the sky only to flinch away slightly when the tinted pink rays of the sun hurt her eyes.

“Oof…”

Sakura stared a little longer at the tall trees towering over her and the rows of tombstones. The pink leaves had just begun to reach its peak bloom two days ago, its leaves greatly resembled those of a flower, with rounded petals that give the illusion of new buds when fallen to the ground. It was a beautiful sight indeed.

Today was the twentieth of March, marking the first of two events of high noon. twice every year, the sun would position itself directly overhead the equator leaving almost no room for shadows.

The girl then moved her attention to the soil beneath her feet, beneath her mother’s and father’s feet, and the freshly placed soil above her grandmother's coffin. The result of the sun being directly overhead, and the fresh pink blossoms of the tree, shaded the dirt below into a soft, raspberry rose shade – and albeit there wasn't enough shade to cover both her and her parents, the two graves side by side with the cherry blossoms gave just enough shade to cover their gravestones, leaving a soft pink hue over them.

‘How clever.'

She would have to leave some offerings later on to thank her grandmother for giving her such a wonderous sight.

This time around, her mother let out a drastically loud cry before she was gently pulled away for others to leave their goodbyes to her grandmother. Now, without managing to alert the others, Sakura was able to lurk her way outside of the clan’s cemetery and waited till everyone else finished their grievances and headed back towards her clan residence. From there on, the funeral repass was held and memories and condolences were said.

“Thank you for the food.” Sakura bowed to her aunt and the woman waved her off with a sympathetic smile. She took her plate and left the crowded banquet they had set up in the tatami room, she had preferred to eat in her own private space – and just as subtlety she had entered, she left, gently closing the shoji door behind her and walked along the hall to her quarters. Throughout the estate, nightingale floors were stretched along the halls in case of intruders, but with the banquet being held a few doors behind, she didn’t want to cause any unnecessary alarms. So, without wanting to draw any attention to herself she applied enough chakra to her feet to the point where the floor wouldn’t trigger and make that distracting squeaking sound and made her way to her room.

On her way there, a door was left slightly cracked compared to the others on her right, and a faint slightly orange hue came from the room. Weird. Now that she thought about it, she’d never seen this door open before. A strange sense came over her, something nagging at the back of her head that was screaming at her not to. But curiosity peaked, and she found herself peeking through the crack of the door.

In the dimly lit room adorned with ancestral scrolls and the subtle glow of ancient symbols, the clan elders gathered, their expressions etched with concern. The weight of secrecy hung in the air as they embarked on a clandestine discussion about the unsettling pattern of random deaths within their esteemed clan.

From what Sakura could see, a tall, lanky old man started stroking his long white beard. “The shadows whisper unsettling tales, my brethren. Our clan has become a canvas for tragedy painted in the hues of inexplicable deaths.”

Her eyes widened.

‘Deaths?’

A second elder narrowed his eyes. “It is no mere coincidence. Each demise bears the mark of precision as if a silent assassin is amongst us.”

The urge to cloak her chakra from being sensed grew as time passed. However, such a large amount suddenly disappearing at once would immediately be incriminating to her. So instead, she increased the amount of chakra applied to her feet and masked the scent of her plate of food before the smell reached past the door.

“Are we to believe these deaths are orchestrated from within our walls? Such treachery is unfathomable.” The third elder leaned forward, his arms folded within his long gown. “The roots of this malevolence run deep. I have heard whispers in the corridors – rumors that Konoha’s shadows dance in our midst.”

Hurried murmurs were shared with a sense of alarm. Anybody with an average level of intelligence could tell that scuffles with Konoha have been thickening the tension between the clan members and the government. Problems with clan members with the Illumigan have been deserting the Leaf, and, because of the dojutsu’s potency, Konoha was growing paranoid about outsiders gaining access to its power. However, the Haruno were upset about the government's negligence of recognizing them over anything other than sources of knowledge, with plenty of cases existing of Jonin members being punished for missions above B rank when outside of Konoha and then taken under permanent arrest with no trial given to them.

“Hush, brothers. Walls have ears, and our words must remain veiled. We tread on delicate ground.” The first elder gestured discreetly. “But we cannot turn a blind eye. There’s a web of deception ensnaring our brethren. Each death is a knot in a pattern we cannot ignore.”

“What do we know of these covert assailants? Are they mercenaries, or do they bear the emblem of Konoha?”

“The evidence is obscured, but the scent of Konoha's involvement lingers. Our members fall, and the village's shadow stretches ominously.”

“We must act, but with discretion. Deploy the Illumigan. It is our ancestral gift—the key to unveiling the truth shrouded in darkness.”

The fourth clan elder had nearly gone overseen by Sakura, the short man nearly merging ing with the shadows with how short he was. “Let the Illumigan guide us, but only in whispers. We cannot afford to draw attention. The survival of our clan depends on secrecy.”

A fat man, the second elder, nodded in agreement. “Our actions must be veiled, for the puppeteer orchestrating this tragic play may reside within our village.”

The first elder raised his goblet in a silent toast, the others soon followed the lead, raising their drinks to the middle.

“To secrecy, to unity. Let the Illumigan be our guide, and may we expose the puppeteer's strings that weave this intricate and deadly tapestry.”

Sakura, absorbing the gravity of the clandestine conversation she overheard, let out a quick exhale as she retreated from the door. "Secrecy is paramount, and the Illumigan is our key," she repeated, murmuring under her breath as she contemplated the gravity of the situation. With the echoes of the elders' words lingering, she entered her quarters with a singular thought echoing in her mind:

"Unravel the puppeteer's strings and preserve the survival of our clan in the darkness."

After the ceremony, Sakura increased the amount of time she spent meditating, overlooking the offerings she had previously intended to bring to her grandmother.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Despite her thoughts, it felt as if everything after that went by fast. Days of strict meditation flew by as if it were nothing. Soon, she graduated from her class and they were expected to have their teammates assigned to them. Instead of a ribbon on the top of her head, now rested a metal ninja headband. Which she had to note, did compliment her forehead perfectly. Now as soon as she walked into the classroom, Sakura was already being tested in keeping her emotions in check.

A small commotion surrounded Sasuke’s seat, and she

knew

it was his seat because he always chose the same seat.

Every. Single. Day.

And every day more girls were flocking around his seat. Despite avidly avoiding everyone else like the plague. Sasuke allowed her to sit next to him in exchange for letting no fangirl of his sit down and nag at his ear – but because she ended up coming to school late, a bunch of girls decided to crowd around him offering to sit next to him for food and gifts.

Now why couldn’t she just go and sit down somewhere else? That was because

her

stuff was on

her

side of the shared desk, and shuffling to move around the girls and grab her stuff on the last day of school would be a massive pain.

Sasuke, leaning back in his chair, observed the commotion with an air of indifference. The constant attention from fangirls was an annoyance, but he tolerated it as long as it served his purpose. Unknowing to her, however, his eyes followed Sakura's determined path through the crowd, a flicker of acknowledgment in his gaze.

“Kyaa! Look, It’s Naruto!”

Heads turned and saw a short boy enter the classroom and sit at his usual spot.

Just like that, most of the attention towards Sasuke was now split between a certain blonde-haired boy and Sakura couldn’t be any more relieved.

Naruto Uzumaki. Another fixation that some of the girls had for

another

freakshow. Now unlike Sasuke, this greedy little kid fed off of their gifts while giving the bare minimum back. One day at lunch, she had seen him convince one of his more… let’s say,

naive..

fangirls to give him ten thousand yen in return for sitting next to him for a whole two periods of class.

Did she get what she wanted? Of course, it’s

THE

Naruto Uzumaki, give him a valuable gift and he’ll do any request of yours for a certain price. But that same girl

did

get scolded by her parents in the middle of class for taking money out of her father's wallet, so yes, it does have repercussions.

But to his crazed fanbase? Enduring any type of scolding from parents was worth it.

Naruto, lounging casually in his seat, observed the scene with an air of nonchalance. Unfazed by the attention he received, he casually accepted the offerings of food and gifts from the fangirls, all while maintaining his signature smirk. Although his eyes flickered with a hint of amusement as he noticed Sakura navigating through the crowd.
“Move it.” Her tone didn’t leave no for an answer. Sakura pushed through the sea of fangirls, navigating the narrow spaces between desks. Her objective was clear – to reach her seat, undeterred by the crowd that surrounded Sasuke. If they thought she was going to just move her seat just like that just for some lovesick girls; they thought wrong.
His fangirls, momentarily taken aback by Sakura's assertiveness, reluctantly made way for her. The Uchiha himself observed the spectacle with mild amusement, eyeing Sakura's tenacity. She reached her seat without compromising, somewhat of a personal testament of her resolve and unwillingness to bow to peer pressure.

But soon the class went silent as Iruka stepped inside the classroom, the students eagerly welcomed him with their greetings. With his infectious smile and a glint in his eyes, he proceeded to deliver a rousing speech, igniting a fire in the hearts of his students. After the speech, Iruka assigned the squads, but Sakura, who seemed to be lost in thought, didn't feel the same zest and enthusiasm as the others. She may have….

accidentally

blanked out for most of the teams, and instead, she focused on what her next move should be.

“Konoha’s shadows dance in our midst.”

Despite her face looking the same, Sakura’s features tensed up.

“Our members fall, and the village's shadow stretches ominously.”

Ever since the day of her grandmother’s funeral, she couldn’t get the conversation out of her head – It should’ve never been exposed to her in the first place.

“Squad 8, Inuzuka Kiba, Hyuga Hinata, Aburame Shino.” The sound of a door sliding open and feet shuffling down the stairs was muffled to her ears.

But, as heir to the Haruno clan, learning the fate of her clan was most definitely her business.

“Squad 7, Haruno Sakura.” Her head rose at her name, bringing herself out of her mind.

“Uchiha Sasuke.”

“Are you kidding me!” She heard Ino call out from the back of the room. “Why is she on Sasuke’s squad!”

Multiple other girls roared out in protest,

Iruka hushed the class, a snappy frown on his face. “Let me finish.”

When the class was quiet, Iruka finally decided to continue.

“The last member is Uzumaki Naruto.”

The boy in question made a huffing sound, but other than that, he remained silent. Great, she got grouped with a bunch of freaks!

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!”

The girls were outraged, not only one but two of the school's cuties were put in the same cell as

her?!

Ino made a face that was so

genuinely

disgusted that she was pretty sure that it would permanently twist that way. She was

preeeetty

sure Sakura was socially abstinent! She can’t flirt even if her life

depended

on it! Shikamaru forced her to sit back down with a huff but her jaw didn't fully close until she left the class with her squad's sensei.

With the mention of their names, Team 7 was officially formed—Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke, and Uzumaki Naruto. The trio exchanged wary glances, each harboring their thoughts and emotions beneath the surface.

As the heir to the Haruno clan, Sakura felt the weight of her responsibilities intensify. The mention of her clan's name in the official squad assignment struck a chord within her, she’s

officially

a ninja now.

She was determined to unravel the mysteries surrounding the recent deaths, the Illumigan, and the covert investigations that implicated Konoha. For Sakura, Team 7 wasn't just a group of ninjas working together; it was a vessel for her quest to protect her clan and uncover the hidden truths that lurked in the shadows.

Sasuke's expression remained unchanged, his stoic demeanor concealing the complex thoughts swirling in his mind. The mention of his name echoed the weight of his ambitions—ambitions that extended beyond the confines of Konoha.

Naruto radiated an infectious air of eagerness, his eyes shimmering with an unyielding determination and deviousness to prove himself and surmount any obstacle that dared to stand in his way.

Iruka, having completed the squad assignments, continued with the rest of the teams. Sakura, Sasuke, and Naruto shifted their focus back to the front, where their sensei would soon be revealed. The anticipation in the air was palpable, a mixture of curiosity and uncertainty.

One teammate is a Konoha-hating Uchiha, and the other is a materialistic, self-absorbed Uzumaki!

Somehow, she found herself not being the one that people found unique. Sakura found that out of the ordinary but it wasn’t her problem. She had a bigger problem.

“Mr. Umino.” She raised her hand, and Iruka nodded for her to answer. “Why do I have to be on the same team as these two?” In the corner of her eye, she saw Naruto roll his eyes and Sasuke began glaring at her. Her face remained blank.

The tan man sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose to satiate his short temper. “Sakura, the teams were assigned based on the first teams of the village. It’s a strict rule that doesn’t show a change in the foreseeable future.”

“If you have a problem with your team, report it to the Hokage and he’ll see if he can move you.”

All she did was stare at him, and once his eyes faltered she scoffed, turned, and looked out the window.

Liar.

Iruka's throat let out an awkward sound as he gathered everyone's attention to call the remaining teams. Sinking back into her seat, Sakura's focus wavered momentarily. She heard Sasuke's scoff directed at her, accompanied by the side glances that spoke volumes of his disapproval. Despite the disheartening atmosphere, she brushed off the persistent itching sensation and redirected her attention to the ongoing squad assignments.

Sasuke, after his subtle display of disdain, turned his attention back to Iruka. The sensei continued regrouping the teams, oblivious to the tension that lingered among the newly formed Team 7. As the remaining squads were announced, the classroom buzzed with a mix of excitement and anticipation for the adventures that awaited each team.

----- CHAPTER BREAK -----

Their teacher had decided to be three hours late, Iruka stayed doing work at his desk while trying to make Naruto sit down and not throw a fit because of that. He had left two hours in and gave his parting words of 'encouragement' to them."Congrats on your graduation, remember, being a ninja is not supposed to be taken with ease. You're playing with life and death whenever you go on a mission, and with a new generation starts a rekindled will of fire."Sakura didn't know how to take those words in, life and death, will of fire, being a ninja. A whole new responsibility was placed on her shoulders just today, and it all starts with her headband. All her life, she's been trained and groomed to be the heir of the Haruno clan. Meditation, Exercises, Strict diets, and training – were all fundamental parts of how she grew up, there was no time for breaks or distractions – and now with this headband, she'd finally be able to show the effort she'd been giving for the past eight years of her life."Hey team!" The famed gaslighter unwelcomingly took a seat next to Sasuke, a wickedly gleeful grin on his face. "Given that we'll be stuck together until we're jonin, let's make the most out of it!" He says, planting his feet on the desk in front of him with a thump as he smiled at the other two."Tch." Sasuke folded his arms, leaning back into the chair, and closed his eyes. "I don't plan on making friends, especially not with a fraud like you."There was an unknown look that flickered through his eyes and Sakura had just barely caught note of it. "A fraud?" Naruto questioned, he had sounded almost offended, but there was something off — something that was telling her that he's not all that he acts like he is."Why are you speaking as if we weren't classmates just two hours ago?" She then spoke in, making her presence more known as she scrutinized the look on the short blonde's face."You didn't quite hide how advantageous you are throughout the years, it's not a nice play to do if you're trying to make friends.""Or maybe you wanting to be friends is your play, and you really are just a manipulative person."Sakura noticed a sudden change in his demeanor as he fell silent. His eyes, which were once filled with warmth and energy, had now turned cold and distant as if he was lost in deep thought. She couldn't help but feel a sense of unease creeping up her spine as she watched him. It was as if he was grappling with something intense and personal, and Sakura couldn't help but wonder what it was that was affecting him so deeply. Before she could speak again, Naruto stood up from the chair and headed to the front of the classroom. She let out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, leaned back in the chair, and relaxed her body.
'He pisses me off…'
After that encounter things went relatively silent other than the noises that were coming from the front of the class, but Sakura honestly didn't care about what that blonde kid was doing anyways.
Silence. She closed her eyes and allowed her body to loosen when Naruto's voice cut through her peace seconds later."Hey, hey. Why don't you introduce yourself first, Sensei?"Or, at least, it felt like seconds later.
Sakura opened her eyes, grunting when the brightness of the blue sky hit her eyes. She blinked a few times before her vision finally turned clear and she saw the first glance of the surroundings around her along with who she assumed was her teacher. She found herself and the rest of team 7 on the school's rooftop sitting on a small step before her eyes drifted ahead of her to their Sensei. Well, it was a man, a tall one at that. He had long, spiky silver hair that seemed to be pushed upwards and some flared to the side of his head awkwardly by his forehead protector. His forehead protector was tilted over his left eye as his right dark grey eye remained uncovered, and he had a long dark grey mask pulled up to the bridge of his nose.'I suppose it's from a battle where he lost his eye,’ She hummed to herself, 'It looks like a makeshift eyepatch.'"My name is Kakashi Hatake." The man drawled out sluggishly, "...I have no intention of telling you my likes.. or my dislikes. As for my dream…" He was silent as if he were genuinely in thoughts before he continued up again. "..I guess have a few hobbies…"The conversation had come to an abrupt halt, leaving an awkward silence in the air. The trio sat there, waiting for someone to break it. And when nothing else came after Kakashi's… 'introduction…'"...You didn't even explain anything about yourself."Sakura let out a sigh of frustration, while Sasuke looked at him with a cold, unamused expression. "Is that it?" He asked, hoping for more. Kakashi chuckled nonchalantly and scratched the back of his neck. It was clear that he wasn't bothered by the lack of information he had shared."How about you give your introduction next, Naruto?" The masked figure's tone was amicable and welcoming, and he motioned his hands towards the blonde as a gesture of inclusivity. However, Naruto's reaction was far from enthusiastic. The boy sucked his teeth, she could tell he was still irritated by her and Sasuke shutting down any chances for him to fool them. And now with Kakashi’s blatant ignorance of his blunt and energetic act, it seems as if the blond had zero intentions to fake anything anymore. He appeared startled by the sudden attention and let out a dismissive scoff, it was obvious he was displeased with the situation. "...Why should I have to introduce myself to you when you didn't share anything in return?"As Sakura listened to Naruto's cautious response, she couldn't help but roll her eyes. It was just like him to never let his guard down, even in a situation where vulnerability was necessary. He had always been a bit of a lone wolf, unwilling to share too much about himself if he didn't know anything about the other person in return. She knew this all too well and found herself growing impatient. She just wanted Naruto to introduce himself already so they could move on with the conversation."Come on, Naruto," she finally spoke up, trying to hide her frustration. "Just introduce yourself. No one's going to come after you." Naruto grunted in response, clearly irritated, but eventually gave in."Tch! Fine," he muttered, finally giving them his name."I'm Naruto Uzumaki. Don't expect me to spill my life story just 'cause we're on the same team. And I sure as hell ain't here to make friends," he declared, his tone laced with stubborn determination. His impatience was palpable, and he seemed eager to get down to business without wasting any more time. He emphasized this point by adding, "So, if we're done with the chit-chat, let's get down to business. I've got better things to do than waste time up here."

Despite Naruto's brusque manner, their team leader, Kakashi, appeared unfazed. He simply waved him off with an eye smile, acknowledging the young boy's eagerness to get started. "Of course, of course." He reassured Naruto that they wouldn't spend much time in that spot. "Now, how about you introduce yourself next, Sakura?"As Naruto's defiant declaration hung in the air, sets of eyes turned to Sakura, who had been observing the exchange with a calm expression. The rooftop seemed to absorb the tension, and Sakura took a moment before responding."Well, Naruto, I don't think anyone asked for your life story," she remarked, her voice carrying a cool and collected tone, he scoffed subtly. "I'm Sakura Haruno. Not that it matters much. I'm here to do my job and complete missions, not to make idle conversation." She leaned against the steps, mirroring Naruto's posture but with an air of composed confidence.Sasuke, who had been silently observing, raised an eyebrow. Sakura continued, her gaze focused and unyielding. "I'm not interested in personal connections or friendships. Let's keep things professional and get the job done." Her introduction was concise and to the point, leaving no room for unnecessary details or emotional attachments.Naruto huffed, seemingly unimpressed, but clearly Sakura had maintained her composure. The atmosphere on the rooftop remained charged, each member of Team 7 revealing a glimpse of their unique personalities and priorities. With their introductions finished, all eyes turned to Sasuke, who had been silently observing the exchange. His aloof demeanor and piercing gaze hinted at a complex personality, and when prompted for an introduction, he responded with a succinct statement."I'm Sasuke Uchiha," he stated, his voice carrying a detached and slightly arrogant tone. His dark eyes swept over his teammates, conveying an air of indifference. "I don't care about your stories or forming bonds. As Sakura said, we're here to complete missions, and that's it."Sasuke's posture remained composed, leaning against the thick metal pole of the canopy roof with an air of silent confidence. His introduction, much like his personality, was concise and carried a sense of self-assuredness. There was an unspoken intensity about him, an indication that his focus was solely on his personal goals and ambitions.Naruto snorted in response, seemingly unfazed, while Sakura observed Sasuke with a measured expression. The rooftop dynamic was established—each member of Team 7 bringing their unique attitude and priorities to the forefront. With Naruto's defiance, Sakura's practicality, and Sasuke's aloofness, the foundation for their teamwork, or lack thereof, was set.Kakashi observed the interactions between his new team with a subtle amusement, his single visible eye crinkling at the corners as he processed their dismissive introductions. He leaned against the railing, a calm demeanor masking the keen observations he made of each of his young charges."Well, well, Team 7," Kakashi finally spoke, his voice calm and collected. "Such enthusiasm. It's heartwarming to see the camaraderie already blooming."His tone was laced with a hint of sarcasm, highlighting the irony in their lack of teamwork. He sighed as if contemplating the challenges that lay ahead. "But you see, in our line of work, teamwork is everything. Personalities aside, you're a team now. Whether you like it or not, you'll have to find a way to work together. The success of your missions depends on it."Naruto bristled at his comment, his pride wounded by the sensei's apparent indifference. Sakura remained impassive, her gaze fixed on Kakashi with unwavering determination. Sasuke's expression remained unchanged, though a flicker of interest gleamed in his dark eyes."Allow me to introduce myself properly," Kakashi continued, his tone shifting to one of authority tinged with mischief. "I am Hatake Kakashi, your sensei. And it's my job to mold you into capable ninja."
He paused for a moment, allowing his words to sink in before dropping the bombshell. The corners of Kakashi's mouth lifted ever so slightly behind the mask, hinting at a hidden amusement."Now, let's get to business. We'll start with a little exercise I like to call the bell test. Your mission is to take these two bells from me by noon. If you fail, well, let's just say there might not be enough room on this team for everyone."The mention of the bell test elicited a mixture of reactions from his team. Naruto's eyes lit up with a spark of excitement, eager to prove himself. Sakura's expression remained unchanged, though a flicker of curiosity danced in her eyes, and Sasuke’s stoic facade cracked ever so slightly, a glimmer of anticipation betraying his outward indifference. He produced two small bells, holding them up for all to see. "You have until tomorrow noon. And just to make it interesting, the one who doesn't get a bell will be sent back to the academy."Kakashi's eye crinkled with a subtle smirk, clearly relishing the opportunity to challenge his new team. "But beware, I won't make it easy for you. And those who fail to obtain a bell will go hungry. Starving and then being sent to the academy isn't a good combination, right?""Then try your best, and keep in mind that teamwork is one of the primary bases of being a ninja."With that, Kakashi disappeared in a swirl of leaves, leaving his bewildered team to contemplate the daunting task ahead. The bell test would be their first trial as Team 7, a test of their skills, teamwork, and determination.
