I was sitting at lunch eating my fries I could hear the other kids laughing and poking fun at me from him behind but I ignored it trying to stay out of trouble. I heard them walking up to me from behind that’s all I hear before I feel lunch milk get poured on me. I look around and see all the others at the table laughing and soon the whole cafeteria. I get up feeling angry and ready to throw a punch but just leave trying to stay out of trouble I go to the principal and he sends me to the nurse to get new clothes and wash out my hair as he calls the kids in. After I wash all the dried chocolate milk out of my hair I go and change into the only clothes in my size left which is orange sweats and a purple sweatshirt. I think of calling my mom to call me out of school but I know she wouldn’t be happy because she’s working so I go straight to class. When I walk in I try to avoid eye contact but at the sound of the door everyone looks at me. I put my pass on the teacher’s desk and hear everyone giggling at my clothes I sit down and try to focus but I hear people whisper about me being a chicken and scared to fight now. Then I heard the worst of all this one kid Luke “I heard his daddy’s in jail and tried to kill him and his mom.” I feel angry really angry but feel tears stinging in my eyes for some reason but suck it up trying to stay chill. After the 4 period bell rings I run to the P.E. Room knowing nobody’s there and jump the window and run I run and run till I get to the track i run to the bathrooms by the park but hear someone call my name and turn around. The first thing I see is Lu running to me smiling looking confused.“Ghost what are you doing her-are you crying?.”
”what do you mean I say voice shaking a little and I touch my face feeling warm wetness and realize I was indeed crying.”
“my mom picked me up early from my school so I can practice for tomorrow what happened to you? Lu says in a slightly worried tone.”
“Um I kinda ran out of school don’t tell please I can’t have more trouble on my hands.”
“Why are you crying it’s not like nothing happened I’ve never seen you cry ever it’s not normal something happened tell me.”“Jeez it’s not that big of a deal just something that happened a long time ago chill everything’s find. Why do you care anyway you should be practicing not over here won’t your mom get mad.”
“No your my friend she doesn’t care just tell me I won’t make fun of you just spill it already man.”Fine but can we sit down it’s a sensitive subject for me and my family.
Ok there’s a bench over here btw I have an extra water bottle you look exhausted what the heck were you doing exactly your face is all red and you still have tear stains on your face.Um thanks Lu all explain after I tell you the main stuff.So you see I never speak about my dad and it’s because a long time ago my parents and I all lived together my parents had a lot of fights and I was just used to it so it was just a normal day. I was trying to sleep and my mom runs in my room and tells me we gotta go and drags me out of bed we run out of the house because my dad had a gun we ran to the local store and hid there and the owner called the police so my dads in jail but the thing is I haven’t really told anybody today people were talking about me and somebody apparently heard about what happened and told the class.So after that class I ran out of school and ran straight here no stops so yeah.Oh I didn’t know I’m sorry if we ever have asked about him I won’t tell a soul I swear. Do you want the water now ghost tho the ice is melting? I smirk trying to distract you from what happened.Oh yeah thanks I grab the water chugging it feeling energized right after. Wanna race?
