He hadn't been back to Beacon Hills in years, but had decided spur of the moment to surprise his Dad for his birthday. As he drove along the rural roads making his way through the dark trees of the preserve that surrounded Beacon Hills his heart was filled with happy memories that conflicted with the darker side of what was running through his mind.. The joy of the impending reunion and surprise was shattered, when a dark shadow raced across the road in front of him, making his swerve slightly. There was a sudden thump and Stiles almost lost control as the car began to shake. Lights and alarms telling him he now had a flat tire on his rental. He flipped on his hazard lights as he pulled as far off the road as he could. Stiles stared out into the darkness, trying to determine what had run across the road, and how far he was from town.. He pulled out his phone and groaned realizing he had no service, stuck on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere, he thumped his fist against the steering wheel in frustration, a pang of anxiety making his heart race. A set of lights came over the rise behind him, bringing his spirits up in hopes of a rescue. Realizing it was a tow truck’s headlights piercing the darkness as it pulled up behind him. The driver hopped out and approached his window, knocking on the glass. “Hey, this must be divine intervention. I literally just pulled over.” Stiles' laughs rolled down the window looking up at the driver, only to find himself staring into the familiar eyes of Derek Hale. Derek Hale, the same guy Stiles had been in love with since he was a teenager, stood before him, looking just as ruggedly handsome as ever. Stiles' heart raced, caught between excitement and apprehension, remembering how Derek was one of the reasons he had avoided coming home for all these years.
