The nights after Elizabeth died were always the hardest. Feeling the dread and failure that he felt each time as he stared at her grave, trying to get the gutting feeling of sadness out of him. Each death came with a different feeling. None of her were the same, until she regained her memories and became one again. She was always different until she died and joined the others unto the eternal curse. Reaching the number of the 60th felt like someone was crushing his chest. The look of sadness, betrayal, and longing painted on her face. Before dying, her eyes flashed the majestic amber with the swirling triskelion. The look on her face told him he'd failed. For each time she died and all her lives flashed before her, she always looked the same. Sad, angry and betrayed. It was always a promise broken, he kept failing her.He wondered why he'd done this to her. Why he'd cursed her to keep living and dying in this eternal circle. Why did he drag her down with him? Grabbing her by the wings on her back and ripping them out of her back. Tainting her. Throwing dirt all over her cleanliness, his darkness overshadowing her light. His chest heaved to push in more air as his throat constricted with the pressure of his grief. He let himself lie down on his back and breathe in heavy breaths. Tears fogged his vision as he stared at the sparkling stars above. The stars shone brightly on a cloudless night. He alone didn't deserve to look at these stars, whilst she was going through the painful cycle of reincarnation because of him. He felt his impurity growing stronger as the moon rose higher in the night sky. He clenched his fist over the heart where he and the other races shared one. He looked at the shining stars and felt a single one staring back at him. Much brighter than the other stars, it illuminated the beautiful sky incomparable to the others. Nobody could compare to her, and her light. His chest bloomed with heat at the thought of her, seeing everything from above. Getting rest before this damned cycle started again. She was his light, his star. He would do anything in his power to save her from what he'd put her through.
