It was a gorgeous, sunlit day in Dubai, the birds chirping in song with a pleasant breeze helping to keep the temperature at a pleasant 84°F. And even though it was the largest city in the United Arab Emirates, it had been a relatively peaceful day…at least so far.“YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!”“AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!”The pleasant morning was suddenly disrupted by the shout and laughter of one dorky, goggle-wearing Japanese college graduate and his small, blue, Digimon as they went down the waterslide of Medusa’s Lair together in a dual innertube.“HAHA, THIS IS FUN TAKERUUUU!!!”“YOU SAID IT PATAMON!!!”Behind the goggle-head, a blonde boy (who had also graduated from college), and his small, wing-eared Digimon were also having fun going down the slide, just not as loudly as the pair in front of them.Most of the younger Chosen Children had just graduated from college (Iori and Miyako being the exceptions as the former was about to start his second year of Law School and Miyako had graduated a year ago) and to celebrate, they all decided to spend the 14th of March at the Aquaventure World water park in Dubai, the Digimon tagging along as well for obvious reasons.The plan was to go to Siam Park in the Canary Islands, but when they got the weather report for the 14th, they decided to use their backup location in the UAE, and so far, it looked like it was the correct choice.While Hikari, Ken, Iori, and Lui started by relaxing at the beach, Miyako and Daisuke wanted to get a head start on the rides with the latter dragging his boyfriend along as Patamon also wanted to have fun.“Aren’t you glad I dragged you along Takeru?” Daisuke asked the blond once they reunited out of the pool at the bottom of the slide.“I’ll admit, that was a blast, and that I’m up for trying out some more rides.” The bearer of Hope admitted.“Including some of the more intense rides?”“Geeze Daisuke, let’s work up to it alright!”Daisuke took what he could get so the couple and their Digimon spent the next 45 minutes trying out multiple rides before they saw that it was getting close to lunch and decided to rejoin the others for lunch at “Barracudas”, one of the nicer restaurants the resort had to offer.“They have slides that let people race down it…why don’t we give it a try?” Daisuke suggested to the group as they sat at the table, waiting for their food to settle.“YES, AND WE CAN MAKE IT A TOURNAMENT BY LETTING THE DIGIMON TAKE PART AS WELL!” Miyako shouted, clearly getting into the mood alongside the brunette. By the time the recommended 20 minutes had gone by, they had picked out which of the slides they would go down, along with who would join in the competition and who would face who.The slide in question was one “Slitherine” and the first up to race were Ken and Armadimon. Despite the Digimon’s excitement and excellent start, his body ended up working against him giving Ken the first win. The second match was Lui vs Miyako, which ended badly for Hawkman’s partner as Lui was able to make his body so torpedo-like, that there was a good 5 seconds between the two of them at the end.“DAMN IT, HOW DID YOU DO THAT LUI!?!?” Miyako shouted, slamming her fist into the water out of frustration.“I don’t even know myself; it was a good race though!” the first ever chosen child replied, sticking his hand out for Miyako to shake (which she shook in respect).Next up was Daisuke against Hikari, which the goggle-head won by a landslide. Hikari told him that she kind of lost interest at the last second, but she still had fun with the race. Last up were Takeru and V-mon and despite the Digimon being smaller and lighter than the human, Takeru practically shot himself down the slide and was able to win at the last second.“Good race V-mon!” Takeru said before the pair left the pool.“Indeed, it was, but you better watch out 'cause Daisuke is gonna kick your butt!”And true to the blue Digimon’s statement, once Lui beat Ken in the second round, Daisuke won by a fraction of a second causing the brunette to shout out in triumph.“YES!!! Sorry Takeru, but you can SUCK IT!!!!!”“Is that a promise?”“Wh-the hell Takeru, we’re in public!” Daisuke stammered with a blush on his face.“I’m kidding Daisuke!”“Oh…never mind then…”“I’m still willing to give you a good time when we get back home though,” Takeru whispered to his boyfriend as they got out of the pool, to which Daisuke answered,“You can bet on that you dick!”The final race between Lui and Daisuke happened right away, and despite the latter’s best effort, Lui won by 2 seconds. While he was disappointed, Daisuke was happy for his newest friend and took the loss like a champ.The rest of the day was spent having a blast with the many water rides, which included Takeru taking Daisuke up on his offer to go down the tallest slide in the park, the “Leap of Faith”. Both men shouted out in excitement as they slid down nine stories of the near-vertical drop while passing through a shark-filled tank before reaching the end.“HOLY SHIT THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!” Daisuke shouted at the top of his lungs before he got out of the slide.Soon, Takeru was screaming to the end as well, and he echoed the sentiment.“Thank you for taking me up there!” the blonde told his lover, to which Daisuke told him it was no big deal.Seeing as how they only had roughly 2 and a half hours left before the park closed, the duo decided it was the perfect time to relax. So, after meeting up with V-mon and Patamon, the four of them headed to the “Shark Attack” ride. After they got into their twin inner tubes, Daisuke and Takeru were pushed into a fiberglass tunnel that led through the shark tank they got a brief glimpse of at the Leap of Faith.“Wooooow…sharks really are majestic creatures aren’t they Daisuke?” the blond asked.“Hell yeah! …just not as majestic as you.” The dorky goggle-head replied.“You can be such a sap at times!”“What? It’s a true statement!”They both laughed a bit as they continued along the ride.Once they had finished the ride, they reconvened with everyone else at the beach to exchange gifts as the 14th just happened to be White Day back home in Japan. Everyone got Lui something special as he had given each of them some chocolate a month ago, while Miyako and Ken gave each other a souvenir from the park as a joke (they both appreciated the gift though).The sun was just starting to dip below the western horizon, meaning it was time to head back home, but Daisuke had one last surprise in store before they left. Takeru had given his boyfriend the new cookbook he had been eyeing for a while which resulted in the brunette planting a big fat kiss on the blonde’s cheek. When Takeru asked Daisuke if he had gotten anything, Daisuke said he would give it to him when they were at the computer to head back to Japan.Miyako had just opened the Digital Gate when Daisuke made good on his promise.“Takeru.”“Yes, Daisuke?” the future writer asked as he turned around to see what his boyfriend was giving him, only to be shocked to see the man on one knee, a small box in one hand. As Daisuke opened the lid, he asked,“Will you marry me?”Takeru blushed like mad, the others trying their best to hold back giggles and tears of joy as Patamon’s partner took a moment to reply as his brain had stopped functioning for a moment.“Y-YES!”Daisuke slid the silver ring with a decent-sized emerald embedded in it onto Takeru’s ring finger before kissing his fiancée. Once they broke away, Daisuke shouted,“YES, NAILED IT!!! TIME TO PAY UP MIYAKO!!!!!!!”“SHIT, I forgot about that!” the purple-haired woman gasped, as the intimate moment caused the bet she had placed with Daisuke to slip from her mind.“Wait, you two had a bet on whether or not I would say yes?” Takeru asked.“I didn’t want to go ahead with it, but Miyako and V-mon were both relentless in their pursuit of getting me to agree to it,” Daisuke answered.“There wasn’t a lot at stake Takeru,” V-mon stated, “Just 4,037 JP¥.”“THAT’S ROUGHLY $25!!!”“Relax Takeru! I have more than enough saved up in case I lost the bet, and now we’re $25 richer!” Daisuke said, giving the blonde a hard pat on the back.“I swear, it’s this kind of thing that’s going to kill me in the end.”Everyone burst out laughing at this before they headed through the Digital Gate and made their way back to Japan.
