He woke up to a loud buzzing in his head, no, beside his head. Tetsurou groaned, reaching around under his pillow for his phone. Oh fuck. 4 missed calls from his boss. He dragged himself out of bed, got ready for the day and left his small apartment with a long sigh. He did not want to go to work.Tetsurou's day went slow, after being yelled at by his boss and threatened to fire him if he showed up late again, he really couldn't handle the bombardment of angry customers throughout the day. Fuck this. The pestering of annoying coworkers that all slacked off, gossiping and prying into his personal life while he handled everything. Whatever. By the end of the day all he wanted was to snuggle up in Kenma's bed and play the new Mario Kart they had both been awaiting to play, but apparently he was too busy to hangout, having to meet up with classmates for an important college project. Cool, awesome, great. He didn't want to go home to his tiny, shitty apartment. So Tetsurou found himself 5 beers deep at a cheap bar, serving questionable food, pondering all of his life choices.  His life wasn't always so mundane and- well- crap. He was once a force to be reckoned with. Intelligent, charismatic, looks to die for, athletic. The captain of his high school volleyball team, a team that he lead to nationals, a position he was adored for. His confident play style and charming smirk gaining himself fans from all over Tokyo. Everyone assumed he'd attend some prestigious college and star in their volleyball team, moving onto pursuing volleyball as a professional- even world famous player, but his reality was far from that. He hated to admit it in present, but he also agreed that he even saw himself ending up with a glorious future. Now, he was just some guy. Some guy that worked as a shop clerk ..as he needed a job straight out of high school and fast, and that was the only one he could find. Just some guy that lives in a lonely, one bedroom apartment with the roof caving in, located in a sketchy neighborhood. He was just some old friend many had forgotten, or left behind while moving onto better and bigger things. He was just a miserable man with big dreams that he self sabotaged himself with because he wanted to stay.He could be an asshole and blame his father for wanting him to stay close to his grandparents as they got older. His father did have to move to the other side of the country for work, to support them financially. He could also blame his beloved boyfriend for wanting him to stay while he finished his final years of high school. Wanting to have familiar comfort and security while going through a stressful time in any youth's life. Tetsurou himself couldn't bare to leave Kenma in that time or at all. His forgiving partner told him he'd survive without him, be strong. But... Tetsurou couldn't handle it, handle being away from his one love. So. He still stayed. Tetsurou also stayed for his own faults. Never going to the college he wanted to, in another prefecture because he was afraid. The world is so much larger and a lot scarier than the safety net of high school. He was anxious about ruining the meaningful relationships he built through the best years of his life, his boyfriend growing distant with the distance between them and the uncertainty of the future. Hah. "But what's really different?" He questioned himself, starring into the brown liquid in front of his gaze.
Even without making that challenging leap... the bonds are gone. He barely gets to see his partner and each day moving into the future is still so uncertain. If he took the chance.. he'd be less miserable.. he thinks, maybe. Downing his 7th beer of the night, at least he would've maybe made something of himself not...this. Maybe he would've been happier, had a more fulfilling existence. It's too late. From what Tetsurou could remember after another 4, maybe 5 beers? He decided it was time to head back to the shack he called home. What is even the time? He pulled out his phone and wow, this is starting to be a running theme, he thought. 3 missed calls from Kenma, 5 unread messages.
Hey Kuro sorry for the last minute message- not meeting up for project tonight wanna hang?

I got the new Mario kart if u wanna play?

or we could just cuddle?

Kuro???

Ok dont worry I guess. Goodnight.
Ah fuck. He didn't remember looking at his phone while drinking down his thoughts, but he also didn't remember not looking at it. He didn't mean to ignore Kenma, he didn't like or ever want to make him upset or pissed off. If he saw the messages he would've raced there like his life depended on it- well days like this it actually did. He depended on his happiness with Kenma too much."Fuck, fuck, please pick up." Tetsurou cursed to himself, listening to the ringing, hoping Kenma wasn't actually asleep and up as normal playing some video game. No answer.
I'm sorry baby I didn't see Ur messages....I wish I was with you right now.

I miss you. Wanna be with you....goodnight love, hope to see you tomorrow.
Kuroo gave his soul into his replies, feeling guilty and just like...shit. As he marched up his stairs to his ...."home" a reply came from Kenma.
It's okay Kuro. Hope to see you tomorrow....need to talk.
"Need to talk?" Tetsurou mouthed to himself, pushing himself into his apartment. That's only a ...it can only lead to bad things right??? Kenma has never, NEVER said or typed those words. Anyone knows how much negativity and anxiety comes with those words right ? Still in dirty work clothes, tired and ready to never wake up again. Tetsurou collapsed onto his bed and answered.Okay,  whatever you need.
I miss you, I'll see you tomorrow.

Love you, goodnight 🖤
Tetsurou gazed at his phone as he relaxed, ready to finally fall into slumber. He set his alarm for work and watched his messaging app as the three dots indicating Kenma was typing...for moments, minutes, more than 10 minutes kept popping up.Gn.Tetsurou's stomach churned. Kenma must be tired. He's busy playing a game. Dozing off already. Yeah, he replied blunt and short often but.... it's okay. Sleep,  just sleep. Tetsurou turned himself on his stomach, curled up into his pillows, a habit he only turned to in....bad times... and forced himself to sleep.
It will be fine. It will be okay. I can't wait to see Kenma tomorrow...
Tetsurou woke up to a loud buzzing in his ear. His alarm waking him up. If he didn't leave in 10 minutes, he was going to be late for work again.
