"Fuck!"Sherry's eyes widened as everyone in the elevator looked at her. Or... looked at the large travel cage she was holding."Sorry, everyone!" She said awkwardly. "Megabyte! Calm down! Please," she told her large ruby red bird. The parrot peeked out at her from his cage and then started mumbling the words "son of a bitch". Sherry could see a young mother near her covering her daughter's ears. The little girl looked confused but kept her big brown eyes locked on the bird.
Please be quiet-
"Your bird is called 'Megabyte'?" the man behind her asked. Sherry glanced back and recognized the man as one of the people living on her floor."Oh! Yes," she said quickly. "I got him when I was fourteen and the first thing he did was bite Leo- my dad and..." she looked down at the cage. "And... yeah. He drew blood."The man smiled at her good naturedly and started to nod but was interrupted by a very loud "Ah, shit!" from Megabyte. The man eased back and the woman near them covered her daughter's ears even more, giving Sherry a piercing glare."Sorry..." Sherry apologized as her face burned red. "My parents were watching him this weekend and they both have foul mouths... especially my mom-""Claire is best mom!" Megabyte squawked out as he flapped his wings. "Leon is ok!""Uh... She also uses my bird to spread propaganda about herself," Sherry quickly explained as Megabyte whistled the tune to the 'X-Files'. "Sorry, he's usually not this loud or vulgar... he missed me..."The elevators pinged and opened. Sherry and her neighbor stayed put but the woman quickly shooed her daughter off the elevator and quickly followed. Sherry had a feeling this wasn't even their stop.Ugh, Sherry thought as an old woman made her way past the mother and daughter and headed for the open elevator door. I'll have to work with him to get rid of these words. Can't wait for this ride to be over with-"Where's the lube?!" Megabyte screamed at the approaching old woman.Sherry felt faint as the old woman put her hand to her chest and looked absolutely offended. Nobody spoke as Sherry wished to be anywhere else but there. After a short beat the elevator doors slid shut, leaving the old woman behind.Sherry slowly looked down at her bird.
...they taught you that just to mess with me. Didn't they-?
A loud snort and muffled laughter started up from her remaining neighbor and Sherry could feel herself dying inside."Megabyte..." she said under her breath. "Next time mom and dad babysit you... You have my permission to bite both of them."
