Work Text
Those three words that Taehyung never thought would make his life stop, do exactly that. He feels the air stop; he feels his breath stop; he feels the honking of the cars, the chirping of the birds, the music playing by his recorder stop. Though what doesn’t stop is his heart. That one traitorous thing beats wild and louder while everything else in Taehyung’s world has come to a halt. It’s not because he doesn’t like it, it’s more because he’s overwhelmed with those words. Truly, he had expected those words sooner rather than later. But he doesn’t know what this word ‘love’ even means, so how can he say it back? The feeling he feels at that moment is unexplainable, really. He doesn’t know if he’s just happy or if he’s over the moon or if he’s in those seven wonders of the world. He doesn’t know. There’s a tug at his heart, which makes him want to cry out loudly due to this feeling, and there’s another tug which tells him that this, this right here is the moment. This is where he dies due to this overwhelming sensation. Genuinely he loves both of those tugs, but he’s not sure what he prefers more. So, he asks for some time to sort this out, and all his boyfriend does is smile at him widely as Jungkook tells him that, “I have enough for the both of us”. —

The journey of my hands towards Your hands is (goes on)
Every day, every day
It happens one fine morning, where all lazy days for us (read: me) begins with snuggling in the blankets, Taehyung’s begins with snuggling more into Jungkook’s warm body. Jungkook, ever so lovely, doesn’t usually complain, but now Taehyung notices his boyfriend’s small grumbles. “What is it?” He asks Jungkook in a groggy voice, hearing the other sigh. “Tired.” His equally groggy boyfriend replies. Though Jungkook puts a hand around Taehyung’s waist as he kisses his nape, “work?” Jungkook asks. Taehyung nods, enjoying the feeling of being coddled. “I might punch in late today.” He says as he starts playing with Jungkook’s calloused fingers. “What about you? You seem tense.” It's still really early for both of them to be up. Though, Taehyung hears the calming music of the birds, and the contrasting blaring horns of the cars. It irritates him, but then he hears Jungkook's hum. He hears Jungkook hum like a warm, soft blanket, but then a sigh. And before he can ask the other what's wrong, Jungkook says those three words.
“I love you.”
And that’s how Taehyung feels his world stopping, in a good way.
“I wanted to say it for a few days already, I couldn’t hold myself back anymore.” Jungkook adds further. It makes Taehyung turn around in Jungkook’s arms as he cups the other cheeks, noticing the utter honesty in Jungkook’s eyes. “Jungkook, I’ll need some time.” Taehyung says, honestly. Because all these feelings he has for Jungkook are definitely more than liking, but he doesn’t know if he can label those as ‘love’ yet. “Take as much time as you want, baby. I love you enough for the both of us.” And so, Taehyung intertwines their hands together, trying to figure out the reason of his beating heart. —
Teri aankhon se kahe
Kuch toh meri nazar
Rozana, rozana..
My eyes say something
To your eyes,
Every day, every day…
It’s a day after Jungkook’s confession that they both go out for dinner. Taehyung had been craving some Chinese, resulting in him whining to his boyfriend, who took him out without any complaints. “This is the best food.” Taehyung mumbles around a mouthful of food, making Jungkook click his tongue and hand him water. “Eat first, talk later.” Jungkook scolds, but Taehyung doesn’t mind as he takes a big sip of his water. “How was work today?” Taehyung fills Jungkook's plate with meat, serving some for himself. “Good.” Jungkook cuts the meat for himself, forwarding his hand to bring Taehyung's plate closer, “I got a new client today.” Jungkook is a lawyer, he has always loved law. Funnily, they met like this. Taehyung was facing some legal issues regarding his start-up and due to a mutual he had approached Jungkook. It was a year ago when all he could hear was Jungkook's name as he entered the law world. And gladly, Jungkook is still on the top of his work. “That is great.” Taehyung smiles, observing as Jungkook cuts down meat for him. “You didn't have to do that.” He pouts, earning a toothy smile from his boyfriend. “Your hand still hurts from experimenting in the kitchen, baby.” Jungkook doesn't let the protest slip out of Taehyung's mouth as he continues, “I'm sure it would be difficult to cut the meat with that hand.” While it is true that Taehyung burnt his hand as he tried to flip the omelet, he is still amazed at how Jungkook knew that it still hurt. It's not like he doesn't want to share this with Jungkook, but due to the workload, it had slipped his mind. And now he had second thoughts about confessing his pain to Jungkook, considering his boyfriend sometimes acts like his mom. And truly, he had been eyeing the meat, and he wondered how he would cut it, but no worries because he has Jungkook. “How did you even–”
“Your eyes tell, baby.”

Ro zana main sochun yehi
Kahan aaj kal main hoon lapata
Tujhe dekh toh hansne lage
Mere dard bhi kyun khamakhan
Everyday I wonder
Where I am lost these days.
On seeing you, even my pains
(Stop paining and) start laughing, for no reason.
The work gets crazier with each passing day. It's four days after Jungkook's confession, that Taehyung sits on his bed and cries. He just came home, and it's around midnight. It's not surprising since the work has been a nuisance these past days. After all, having his own clothing store can get hectic, especially when it's wedding season and everyone wants a suit from the same shop. He doesn't regret opening this start-up, his small business. He always wanted to do something of his own, which he is doing now. But sometimes, it gets too much for Taehyung to handle. He has a fragile heart, and one minuscule mistake from his end, he takes it to his heart. More like he makes it his personal mission to correct it. Today wasn't anything different, a suit that had been tailored perfectly, somehow mismatched a button. He was fuming with anger, and regret, as he ran around his shop to find the perfect buttons. He had shouted at practically everyone in the office, but he did apologize later. So, all the tiredness, frustration, and the ache of overworking had him crying in his sheets like a baby. Until he hears the doorbell and wonders who's at his place this late. Definitely not Jungkook, considering him and his boyfriend exchanged ‘goodnights’ just an hour ago. Could it be Jimin? His best friend? But that guy has been having the time of his life since he got married to Yoongi. Though his question is answered the minute he opens the door, “Jungkook? I thought you went to sleep?” Jungkook smiles warmly at him, as he walks ahead and hugs Taehyung tightly. “How could I? When my boy was crying himself to sleep?” Hearing those words from Jungkook makes Taehyung sob on his shoulder as he holds the other tighter. “I missed you.” He confesses, with a red nose, and snot almost running down. “I know baby, I did too.” Jungkook kisses his forehead, as Taehyung walks them both to the couch. “You could've called.” Taehyung straddles his boyfriend, roaming a hand around Jungkook's soft locks. “The surprise would've been ruined, then.” Jungkook shows the bag he had brought with him, which was neglected as Taehyung cried into his arms. “I bought you ice cream; I hope it makes you feel better baby.” “You being here makes it better, Jungkookie.” Taehyung is about to hug him tightly when he hears Jungkook's loud, comic gasp and he rolls his eyes. He knows his boyfriend is going to say something utterly dramatic, and it's confirmed the minute Jungkook opens his mouth. “Does that mean the ice cream I bought from that shady convenience store has no value?” Jungkook puts a hand on his mouth, “it hurts my heart.” Taehyung smiles at his dramatic boyfriend but narrows his eyes at him, “why were you at a shady store?” “To buy you ice cream, duh.” Jungkook rolls his eyes. In a sudden motion Jungkook shifts in a way where he lays them both on the couch, hovering over Taehyung, it's too sudden for Taehyung, who’s still in daze, that his boyfriend came this late with ice cream. "Why didn't you tell me about the work overload, baby?” Jungkook softly asks. “I'm sorry. I was too stressed to even talk to you properly.” Taehyung says after recoiling from the sudden movement. “It's okay but promise me, the next time anything comes up, you should call or text me, yeah?” Jungkook kisses his forehead again, and Taehyung nods. So right now, as he lays here wrapped in Jungkook's arms, he realizes that he wouldn't mind working late if he has a home in Jungkook's arms to come back to. —
Hawaon ki tarah
Mujhe chhu ke tu guzar
Rozana, rozana..
You touch me and,
Pass like the wind,
everyday, everyday…
It’s Jungkook’s birthday, and the other had clearly denied partying, taking into consideration that it was a weekday. But Taehyung? He had already made up his mind to surprise his boyfriend with a cake he tried baking this morning. He had woken up early just so he could bake it and rushed to work. His workers have been gushing about how lucky Jungkook is to get a cake baked by Taehyung. Though he disagrees, because it is he who is lucky to have someone like Jungkook in his life. He can’t imagine a life without Jungkook. It would be a colorless, tasteless life. Anyways, so here he waits for Jungkook walking back and forth in his apartment. Jungkook and he promised to have dinner at Taehyung’s place, because they couldn’t party. And it was a hassle getting reservations at the last moment. So along with the cake Taehyung has prepared (read: tried to) Jungkook's favorite meal; Japchae with some beef. He hopes Jungkook likes it. He has also prepared soju’s, unfortunately; he didn't have champagne to celebrate Jungkook's 25th birthday, so he can manage it with soju. It's exactly twenty minutes after the time they decide to meet that Jungkook rings the doorbell, making Taehyung almost sprint in his own living room, wanting to open the door as soon as possible. When Taehyung opens the door, his breath is knocked out, because who the hell looks this handsome after a long day of work? Yes, it's his boyfriend; Jungkook wears a black suit, paired with a white shirt and black boots. Although the smile he wears is far more beautiful than those attire. Taehyung hugs him instantly, whispering a ‘happy birthday’ which in turn gets him a kiss on his cheek. “Am I very late?” Jungkook looks worried, as they both walk inside Taehyung's apartment, hand in hand. “Not at all, Jungkookie, come,” Taehyung makes the other sit on the red colored couch, "sit.” Taehyung sees Jungkook's confused state, but smiles to himself, knowing his boyfriend's eyes are going to go wide when he brings the cake in. And that's exactly what happens, though, it happens with a large tear that falls down Jungkook's almond eyes. “Taehyung, this- this,” Jungkook seems at a loss for words as he keeps pointing towards the cake, “you baked?” “I did.” Taehyung bobs his head, handing Jungkook the knife, who scrunches his nose. Taehyung watches the way Jungkook first blows on the candle, wishing for something quietly, and then cuts the cake gently. However, even after tasting the cake, which wasn't baked properly (Taehyung gets to know this after Jungkook feeds him a bite), Jungkook has a wide smile on his face. A smile so so bright, one would think that Jungkook has had the best meal of his life. But how can Taehyung even take this in that it's his under-baked cake and overly cooked beef, that's making Jungkook the happiest man in this world? And when Taehyung sits on the balcony, a soft breeze hitting his skin he can't help but think of how lucky he really got with Jungkook. Exactly like this soft breeze, Jungkook had taken Taehyung's sadness away, replaced it with ‘Jungkook-ness’, while loving him endlessly, selflessly, effortlessly. Taehyung really, really wants this breeze to always stay the way it feels right now. —
Inn aankhon se ye bata
Kitna main dekhu tujhe
Reh jaati hai kuch kami
Jitna bhi dekhu tujhe
Tell me, how much should I see you
With these eyes...
Because however much I see you,
It's never enough…
This conference is a big one for Jungkook, granted it's his first one. He watches Jungkook as the other fumbles with the tie, tying it wrong for the fifth time now, “Jungkook, let me.” Jungkook huffs loudly, before letting Taehyung help. “Do you think I'll do a good job?” Taehyung looks at Jungkook at the question as he smiles warmly. “You'll do a great job.” “You don't know that!” Jungkook whines, pouting as he fixes his hair. “I know that Jungkook. You've practiced really well for this. I understand the nerves, but you're the Jeon Jungkook, the one who fights cases with ease, the one who wins them, the one who isn’t scared of the opponent, and the one for me, the one who- who loves me endlessly. You'll do it, Jungkookie.” Taehyung smiles, as he gives Jungkook a forehead kiss, and then one on both his eyes, one on his button nose, and one small peck on his cherry lips. “You'll do it, Jungkook.” “Thank you so much, baby.” Jungkook kisses Taehyung on the lips. Breathlessly, he feels Jungkook's hand sneaking inside his sweatshirt, massaging his back gently. Taehyung tangles his own hands in Jungkook's neatly combed hair, as he tries to pull the other closer. However, it's difficult with Jungkook's suit, and not wanting to ruin the ironed pair, Taehyung gives his boyfriend’s lips one last peck before parting their lips. Jungkook still holds him by the waist, as his boyfriend kisses his nose. “I love you.” Jungkook speaks against his lips, and Taehyung feels the shiver run down his spine. And then, when Taehyung hears those three words, he doesn't feel the world stop, instead he feels the world's noises get lighter and lighter, and the only thing that he sees and hears is Jungkook with this raw confession, and really at that time, Taehyung wishes that he had the ability to stop the time. Because really, all he needs to do now is stare at Jungkook till his eyes give up and become mushy due to the love Jungkook holds for him in those beautiful almond eyes. —
Rozana main sochun yehi
Ke jee lungi main be-saans bhi
Aise hi tu mujhe milta rahe agar
Rozana, rozana..
Everyday I think
That I'll live even without breathing.
If you keep meeting me,
Everyday, everyday…
“Good night, baby.” He hears Jungkook’s quiet whisper in his ears. Taehyung is not really that sleepy, however his boyfriend has had a really long day of work, and thus Jungkook falls asleep exactly a minute after their ‘good nights’. Taehyung pouts in Jungkook's arms, because it will now take him a while to fall asleep. He wonders what he can do next, to pass the time till he falls asleep. Should he watch some drama? Too noisy, might wake Jungkook up. Should he sit on the balcony? It's too warm in Jungkook's arms, so he cancels that option. Should he write something? But again, Jungkook's arms are far more comfortable than any other place in this world. So, he gives in and snuggles more into the warm body of his boyfriend, breathing in Jungkook's musky scent. That's when he hears the quiet snores of his boyfriend, and the calm breathing. It's like music to his ears, a calm music to which anyone would fall asleep too. But then it hits Taehyung, that this music is only for him, that anyone could fall asleep listening to Jungkook's calm breathing, but it's only Taehyung who has the privilege of listening to those. He smiles widely at the thought and tries not to move much. He is completely still, so he can listen to Jungkook. And before he knows it, he falls asleep to those sounds, quietly emitting his own. Making both their breaths mingling together to a beautiful harmony . —
Yun aa mila tu mujhe
Jaise tu mera hi hai
Aaram dil ko jo de
Woh zikr tera hi hai
You came and met me
As if you are mine only.
The one that gives peace to the heart,
That mention is yours only.
A month later after Jungkook's confession, Taehyung looks at him, making him his favorite pancakes in the wee hours of the morning because Taehyung has to leave early for his work. That's when Taehyung realizes how late he was to come to terms with his own feelings. Falling in love should be easy, that's what he had heard all his life. His mom and dad fell in love the second their eyes met, his sister fell in love with her boyfriend when they slept together, heck, even Jimin understood that he loved Yoongi the minute they held hands. So why didn't he understand it? Why didn't Taehyung understand that coming back to Jungkook's arms, holding Jungkook's hand, kissing him goodnight, waiting for him after his work, making him meals, and every small thing was nothing but ‘love’. The feeling that was unexplainable, that he didn't know how to label, is what he understands. The love that he has for Jungkook is something like drowning in the ocean, so deep, but he has no interest in saving himself or swimming back to the shore. He's so so deep in, that all he sees is the love he has always had for his boyfriend. Since the day he saw him, since the day they held hands, since the day they slept together, it was nothing but love. All of it. How did Taehyung even fail to notice it? It's shocking, honestly. And now as Taehyung quietly watches Jungkook serve those pancakes with a lazy smile on his face with droopy eyes, all he wants to do is jump in his arms and hold him for forever. —
Rozana main sochun yahi
Ke chalti rahe baatein teri
Aate jaate yun hi mere liye thehar
Rozana, rozana..
Everyday I wish
That your talks should keep on going,
While passing, just stop for me,
Everyday, everyday…
Two days after Taehyung coming to terms with his feelings, he decides it's the best time to let Jungkook know. But he ponders on what to say, as he walks back and forth in his small office room while he waits for everyone to leave so that he can lock up. “Sir?” He hears one of his workers calling him, he looks up to her with a questioning gaze and she motions outside. He is confused at first, though he walks towards the small window and notices his boyfriend’s bike there. “How long has Jungkook been here, what the hell!” He voices out loud, making the poor girl flinch, who then tells him that she'll be heading off. Taehyung walks towards the bike with an angry pout. “What the hel–” Unfortunately, he doesn't get to finish as he's silenced by a kiss and a hand on his waist which roughly pulls him towards Jungkook. It makes Taehyung's knees go weak, making him dizzy. After a minute or so Jungkook parts his lips, kissing his forehead, “missed you.” “You're stupid. Couldn't have come inside?” Taehyung hits Jungkook's arm as he stomps his leg. “I wanted to, but I saw you working baby, didn't wanna disturb you.” Jungkook tucks a lock behind his ear, making Taehyung blush. And that's when Taehyung thinks it is the right time. The right time to say it. So, he says it, with all his heart, “I love you, Jungkook.” And when he says those three words, this time, there's no bird's chirping, or loud horns, or the bright sun. This time it's Jungkook's wide eyes, Jungkook's hands that froze on his face and Jungkook's lips that part in surprise. This time it's the moon that shines brightly, the voices of crickets, and a serene rumble of his soaring heart. This time it's him and his boyfriend. It's Taehyung and Jungkook, in love with each other. Deeply in love, as they gaze into each other's eyes. And Taehyung just knows, he has always been in love, always. And it has always been with Jungkook. —

The journey of my hands towards Your hands is (goes on)
Every day, every day
Being in love is a fool's game. That's what Jungkook has been hearing all his life. And Jungkook gladly accepts it, that he's a fool. Because he's in love with Taehyung. Has been since the day he saw him. How can he not? Taehyung is the epitome of pure love, like those sunflowers that bloom in the sun, and when he saw Taehyung, he had the urge to be that sun for the other. Jungkook is definitely a fool, because when he had confessed, Taehyung had asked for time, and he had agreed with a smile on his face. But if you ask him, he really didn't need an ‘I love you too’ back from Taehyung, because like he always says, Taehyung's eyes tell. He could see in those eyes, always. When Taehyung tried baking him the cake (the best he ever had), when Taehyung cooked him his favorite meal, when Taehyung would stay up because he was down with a fever, heck, when Taehyung fixed his tie on the conference day, he could see it in those eyes. And Jungkook really is a fool, a fool in love, a fool for Taehyung, a fool he loves to be. A fool that he always heard about and thought, how can someone love someone so much? But now when he does the same, he understands it's not so bad when the other person loves you the same amount. He's a fool, with his fool, and they're both really nothing but fools together, in love. Jungkook smiles at that nonsense thought, as he looks at Taehyung who stands beside him, and intertwines their hands together. “I love you.” He whispers those three words, only for Taehyung to hear. “I love you.” Taehyung whispers back, his favorite three words, as they both walk hand in hand, after a long tiring day at work, to their shared apartment. And Jungkook is sure, so sure, that this is what their life is, walking hand in hand together, every day, to a destination they both call their home.
THE END.
