For as long as anyone could remember, the World of Valkyria was a world belonging to magic and monsters. Ruled over by the gentle hand of Horakhty the Creator of Light, she is viewed by the other denizens of the world as a goddess. She knew many spells and had many monsters at her command. Like the master of black magic, the Dark Magician and his student the Dark Magician Girl. To powerful dragons like the legendary Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes Dragons, as well as cunning warriors like Buster Blader and Black Luster Soldier. All these monsters and more would come to her aid when needed to fight off Zorc the Dark One, and his wicked creatures of darkness. For more than five millennia Valkyria was nothing but a world of magic and monsters, until one day humans from Earth started to break away from their homes and cultures. Wanting, seeking, yarning for a new place to call home. One where they could make their own society, and their own destinies, without the shackles of their past on earth to weigh them down. A world where they could truly feel like they belonged.These humans would be known as the first Valkyrians, Horakhty was all too happy to take the humans in. The first humans learned of her skills and status of a goddess quite quickly from the other denizens of the world. From this humans started worshiping Horakhty as their goddess as well as some of the other denizens for their skills. For this the humans Taurus and his wife Turquoise are the first humans to be crowned king and queen, and thus the Valkyrian Empire is born. Peace reigned over the empire for the next millennia, rulers came and went as the time marched on. But in the year 1605 King Obsidian and some of his court committed a grave sin against Goddess Horakhty, they tried to murder Ma’at in an effort to steal the Millennium Items that she was guarding for themselves. Ma’at was like a daughter to the goddess, and as punishment for such a heinous crime Horakhty eliminates the fertility of the humans via a powerful spell. She felt that if humans can’t value the life of an heir, then they don’t deserve to have them.After the generation that attempted to kill her precious daughter ceased to exist, Horakhty planted a tree for the next generation that was left behind. This tree took one year to grow and another year to bloom. The heir of Obsidian was told by Horakhty herself, that the grave sin of their father cannot be undone. But to lessen the punishment, the tree was planted that will give the gift of fertility when it blooms. She explained to the heir that once every year, the tree will bloom blue, green and pink flowers with orbs in the middle. If the orb glows then the person has been given the gift of fertility, but if they don’t then they shall never bear offspring. With this information in hand the heir waited the year it took for the tree to bloom, then harvested all of the orbs that the tree produced. Putting the harvested orbs into a charm bracelet, where the orb is the single charm. Then giving those to whom they thought would produce the best offspring. As word got out about the Tree of Fertility, many people became desperate to get their hands on a Fertility Bracelet as the masses dubbed them. And those that already had one, tried to be generous and give their bracelet to their friends or family. But this quickly brought them an untimely demise as the individual that was trying to be generous, disintegrated the moment they took their bracelet off. The centuries went by and new rulers took the throne, and it was Queen Haou that started the caste system of Alphas, Betas and Omegas, as well as the selection process known by the younger generation as the Luster Selection. The younger generation called the selection this because of the stories told to them by the previous generations. The legends of the mighty Black Luster Soldier, and how he had to go through many trials to be given the honor and title of a warrior. The Luster Selection was mainly offered to those between the ages 16 to 30, and were selected by the royal family and the government. It’s a widespread belief that Alpha and Omegas are the ones with true fertility. It was believed that Betas couldn’t have kids, and if they tried to mate with an Alpha or Omega they would disrupt the Heat and Rut cycles thus preventing them from having kids. So they were assigned to look after them, mostly the Omegas. But unfortunately many people fell into the class of Beta, not many people were classed as Alphas or Omegas. Parents kicked their kids out for not being what they wanted them to be. But for those that are lucky enough not to be a Beta, were given nice accommodations by the government. Betas would be assigned to an Omega once they completed classes about how to take care of them. Later on Betas also took classes on how to take care of Alphas as well since there were enough Betas to look after both. It’s been 500 years since the fertility curse that has been placed on the human race and they’re still feeling the effects of Osidian’s grave sin.

500 years have passed and the year is now 2105. The royal house has changed yet again, with Poseidra Shadows being crowned king. Shortly after being crowned king, Poseidra started looking for a wife. Like many before him, Poseidra had a bracelet that assigned him his secondary gender. A dark sea blue orb rested beautifully on his wrist, marking him as an Alpha.“Has a suitable Omega been found yet?” King Poseidra sighs.“Not yet your highness, but the Betas are still looking.” Matrix, one of his assistants replies.“I can’t wait forever. I need to have an heir as soon as possible, or my line will die out like so many others before me.”“Then I will have every Omega stand before you my king, so you can make the choice yourself since the Betas are incompetent.”“Fine, see to it.” Poseidra sighs as he waves his hand dismissing his assistant.Matrix does as he is told and gathers all non-mated Omegas. It doesn’t matter if the Omega was a male or female, if they don't have a mate then they have to stand before the king to see what he thinks of them.Poseidra looks displeased seeing some male Omegas, and tells Matrix to let them go as he isn’t interested in them at all. He only wants females.“You said to gather all non-mated Omegas sir.”“I thought you were only going to gather the females!”“My apologies sir. But you know one percent of Omegas can be male, just like one percent of Alphas can be female.”“Yes yes I know, just send the male Omegas home.”“Yes sir.”The male Omegas are sent home, while the female Omegas are brought before the king. They do their best to show off their skills to his highness but the king waves his hand dismissing them, not seeing anything special about the young ladies.“None of these young ladies have that spark that I’m looking for, are these the only female Omegas to choose from?” Poseidra sighs in defeat.“There's one more young lady to meet sire, she’s just getting out of Heat. She also seems like quite the spitfire, she acts more like an Alpha then an Omega.”“I don’t care, bring her in at once!” Poseidra shouts with a little bit of hope left in his voice.“Yes sir right away.” Matrix says and turns to the guards, “Let the young lady in.”The grand hall doors are opened for a young lady no older than 20 years of age, who’s dressed in a simple dark amethyst dress. Her hair is a mix of white opal, Rosé pink, and dark blonde that looked almost brown, that was neatly combed back with a white flower hair clip on the right side of her head. Her skin was a smooth slightly pale white and her eyes are a dazzling bright emerald green. “My my, what an interesting appearance for a young lady.” Poseidra says as he watches the young lady walk to his throne and curtsey to show respect.“Sir I don’t think she is a good match for you, she is quite the wildchild.” Matrix whispers into his king’s ear.“Nonsense,” Poseidra whispers back. “State your name and age for me if you please young maiden.”“My name is Nova, Nova Lotus and I’m 20 years of age, your majesty.”“You have quite the unique appearance for a young maiden.”“I understand, I get many looks in the marketplace for my appearance. But I’m not ashamed or displeased by it, I like being able to stand out amongst the crowd.”“I’ve heard that you’re quite the wildchild.”“I’ll admit that I do stand out from other Omages, I will not tolerate being told who I should be or what I should do with my life.”Poseidra hums with interest, he likes the spitfire and independent personality of the young lady. And she’s not that much younger than him too, only a three year age gap between the two of them. The only question now is, are they compatible with each other. It takes three years for Nova to get comfortable being around Poseidra before it is even safe enough to see if they’re a match, an uncomfortable Omega will lash out at an Alpha that they’re not familiar with.“Poseidra, may I have a word with you?” Nova asks in a soft voice, she has been living with Poseidra for three years now to get comfortable being around him.“Of course my lady.” Poseidra replies and shoos away Matrix.Matrix leaves, leaving Nova and Poseidra alone in Poseidra's study.“What is it that you would like to talk about?” Poseidra asks, turning to look at Nova.“I know it has been three years since I moved into the palace, and I appreciate being given time to adjust. But now I think it’s time to do what I was brought here to do.”Poseidra smiles with great joy and gets up from his seat to hug her, “I will inform Matrix of your decision as well as your Beta Michael.”Nova smiles at this and hugs Poseidra back, “I can inform Michael as I will see him later on today.” “Great.” Poseidra says, letting go of Nova and calling for Matrix to inform him of the good news.Once the proper people are informed, Poseidra goes back to his work with a bit of a pep in his step. And a short time later in July Nova goes into Heat, and she is kept in her quarters. For now she is acting calm since Poseidra isn’t there, and she’s just starting to go into Heat. Her face is red and flushed, she feels hot all over like she’s getting a fever, and she’s panting trying to cool herself down. Like any other Omega going into Heat she takes on an animal like appearance, which is a mix between some kind of big cat and a wolf.“Is he coming yet Michal?” Nova asks her Beta between pants.“He will come tomorrow evening when you are in full Heat, just try to hang in there until then.” Michael replies.Nova groans but does as she’s told and waits until tomorrow. The next day is absolute hell. She’s hot, uncomfortable and restless, only allowing her Beta to come near her.“I am so glad I’m not going through this alone.” Nova whines to her Beta.Michael smiles at her, “I will always be by your side no matter what, and I feel like tonight is going to be a very pleasant night.”Nova smiles at his words, “I still remember the day we met, it was a year after we were given our orbs. I thought you were an Alpha.”“Yes I remember, and I’m still trying to figure out how we have such a close bond with each other the way we do. You also never told me why you like calling me Michal.”She laughs, “You just seemed like a Michal to me, and it’s not my fault that the would be nickname stuck.”“That’s not much of an explanation but I’ll go with it. I don’t care what name you gave me, as long as I can be by your side that’s all that matters to me.”“I hope you will live long enough to stand by my child’s side, should this encounter go well. I can think of no better Beta for the job.”“It would be my honor Nova.”Michael looks at Nova with a small smile, but on the inside he is envious of the king for being able to have the possibility to mate with Nova. He would never admit it to anyone, not even Nova, but he is madly in love with her. But he knows his place amongst the pecking order, lest he be killed by having his bracelet forcefully taken from him. The evening slowly draws near and he takes Nova to a different room to meet Poseidra.Nova looks around the room then jumps on the bed, stretching out and making herself comfortable before there’s a knock on the door. Nova’s ears perk up and her head turns to the door.“Would you please get the door for me Michael.”“Of course my lady.” he replies and opens the door for the king to enter.He steps aside to let Poseidra enter the room then closes the door behind him, keeping a watchful eye on Nova in case she tries to attack. But like he thought things go well, and Nova is cuddling up to Poseidra which is a good sign that she’s accepted him. Michael turns and leaves the room to give the two some privacy. As the king and his soon to be queen, form their bond. A young Omega by the name of Hanna, is being courted by her future mate. An equally young Alpha named Kiyoshi, he comes from the Kogami household.Sometime later after Nova and Poseidra’s first encounter, the royal physician examines Nova and finds that she’s pregnant. Poseidra is over the moon to know that he will have an heir to the throne and marries Nova, making her his queen. Nine months seemingly pass by in the blank of an eye for Poseidra. On April 22nd under the new moon, Nova goes into labor. But she didn’t give birth to just one child, oh no, she gave birth to triplets.“Look dear, triplets.” Nova whispers, exhausted from labor.“They’re as unique as their mother, what shall we name our beloved daughters my queen?”Nova fell silent, looking over her daughters and thinking of what names to give them. The oldest one has dark blown hair that looks almost brown and emerald green eyes just like her mother, the middle daughter has white opal hair and bright fire topaz eyes. And the youngest daughter has Rosé pink hair and light gray eyes.“The oldest shall be called Shingetsu Rei.” Nova whispers with a smile and holds the baby up.“What a wonderful name my queen, she was born under a new moon after all.” Michael says.“Indeed.” Poseidra agrees, “I think Opal would be a perfect name for the middle triplet, don’t you think dear?”“Yes, for her lovely opal hair.”“I think Ryu Rosé would fit for the youngest, what do you think my queen?” Micheal asks, taking a risk by making such a suggestion.“I think that’s a lovely name Machial.” Nova smiles and turns her head to him.“Yes, she is a lovely rose to be charested.” Poseidra says, not at all upset by the Beta’s suggestion.Five years after the triplets are born, Hanna gives birth to her son Ryoken. Unfortunately, she dies shortly after childbirth. But she lived long enough to have a picture taken of her next to Kiyoshi while she was holding her newborn son. After her passing, Kiyoshi is left to raise Ryoken alone.

The years went by and the children of the new generation grew into young adults. The little baby Ryoken grew into a handsome young 18 year old man who’s in his last year of high school. He had made many friends over the years, but none as loving as his high school friends who were just two years younger than him. His closest friends are two 16 year old boys by the names of Specter Avalon and Yusaku Fujiki, he met the pair at the park when he was eight years old and they’ve been best friends ever since. When they all got into high school is where they met their new friends. Skye Zaizen along with her childhood friend Myu Sugisaki, Theodore Hamilton and Jin Kolter.The seven of them would often meet up after school at Café Nom. A food truck runned and owned by Jin’s older brother Cal, but everyone called him by his last name of Kolter.“Back again I see.” Kolter says happily when he sees the teenagers walking up.“Where else can we go to get hot dog sandwiches?” Theodore asks in a teasing manner.“Ha ha, very funny Theodore. But they’re not sandwiches.” Kolter replies with a small smile, “So how was school?”“Boring, they keep teaching us the same thing.” Ryoken replies as he takes a seat at one of the tables, his friends following his lead and sitting down at the table as well.“Oh?” “Kolter asks as he turns on the grill to make the group hot dogs.“I’ve been told since I was a young child the grave sin King Obsidian committed, and I’m sure the others have as well.” Ryoken replies as he rests his chin on his hand.“He’s right Kolter, we were all told about the sin in grade school. Why they keep bringing it up is beyond me.” Theodore says, jumping into the conversation.“Have they ever tried to apologize?” Yusaku asks, looking around the table at his friends.“Not that I’ve heard, but it’s not like the goddess would accept it. We’ve had 500 years to apologize and yet no one has ever attempted to atone for the sin of King Obsidian.” Specter says, crossing his arms. He isn’t bothered by the fact that people can’t have kids unless they’re chosen by the government.“He’s not wrong on that, but I can’t imagine what the world would be like if people didn’t have to go through Luster Selection. I mean, my mom kept going on and on about how important it is.” Myu chimes."One day things will change, someone out there will atone for what King Obsidian did.” Skye says looking up to the setting sun.“I hope you’re right on that Skye, 500 years is a long time to punish people.” Jin says.“Let’s not focus on things we can’t change, and instead focus on the upcoming Luster Selection.” Kolter says as he comes out of the truck with a tray full of hotdogs and drinks.As the day slowly turns into night the group talks about the upcoming selection, cracking jokes about what secondary gender they will be until the streetlights come on. Kolter has everyone pile into the truck when it gets too late to walk home, it was a tight squeeze but things got better after a few of them were dropped off at home safely.“See you guys tomorrow at school.” Ryoken calls to his friends as he gets out of the truck.“See you tomorrow Ryoken.'' They all happily called back.Ryoken turns away from the truck and walks up to his house and enters, after seeing him enter his house safely Kolter leaves the drop off the rest of the group.“Why were we out so late again Ryoken?” Kiyoshi asks his son.“I wasn’t out that late father, I was just hanging out with Yusaku and the others at Café Nom like usual.” Ryoken replies as he takes off his shoes and puts his bookbag down by the door.“Have you given some thought about the Luster Selection?”“Not really, but I’m sure all my friends are going to partake in it so I might as well.”Kiyoshi smiles a bit at this, “I have no doubt that you will be an Alpha just like your old man.”“But what if I’m not?”“Have faith Ryoken, just think of the pretty girl that you’ll match with.”Ryoken blushes in embarrassment at this, he hasn’t told his father that he’s really not into girls. “Really dad?” he says as he rolls his eyes.“I still remember the day I met your mother, she was a beautiful young lady with bright crystal blue eyes. She had many other Alphas trying to court her, but when she came into heat things turned sour.”“What made you so different?”“To this day I ask myself that very same question. I don’t know why she picked me, she just did. Though I’m sure it had something to do with actually caring about her, I overheard many of the other Alphas just talking about her beauty while ignoring her personality and ideals. I knew I couldn’t be like the rest of them, finding a match meant more than just having a child. When you find your perfect match, your mate, you should love, cherish and care for them like you would your future child. On very rare occasions where one or both people ignore and neglect the other, can lead to infidelity. While it’s not punishable by death because of the possibility of the new match producing kids, it’s seen as extremely shameful. So shameful in fact, that the kids may not be picked for Luster Selection. And if they are, no Alpha or Omega will want to match with them.“I see. And what about the Betas, can’t they help the Alpha or Omega they’re assigned to if they haven’t found a mate?”“Many Alphas and Omegas form close bonds with their Betas, but under no circumstances are they allowed to mate with their Alpha or Omega. This is punishable by death.”“But why? They’re only trying to be helpful.”“By mating with their Alpha or Omega, they have disrupted their Heat and Rut cycles. By disrupting the cycles no more children can be born, though no one knows how long this disruption lasts until the cycles return to normal.”“Oh…” Ryoken replies and looks down, he hopes that the Beta that’s assigned to him doesn’t have to suffer a fate like that. He can only imagine what curl and painful death that awaited them should they break this rule.“I promise father, I won’t allow my Bate to make such a mistake if one is assigned to me.”“I hope not, many Betas are kind and caring people.”A few weeks pass and it’s time for some of the young ones to go through Luster Selection.“What do you think you will be Yusaku?” Specter asks, a bit excited.“Probably a Beta, you?” Yusaku replies as he walks alongside Specter to the palace.“I’ll definitely be a Beta as I was born to serve.” Specter replies with certainty.“Hey guys wait for me!” Ryoken calls from behind them.Yusaku and Specter turn around to see their friend and classmate Ryoken running to catch up to them. It takes a moment for Ryoken to catch his breath.“You okay?” Yusaku asks.“Yeah I’m fine, just give me a minute to catch my breath.”The three walk for a moment in silence until Ryoken catches his breath, a bit of nervousness amongst them.“What do you think you will be?” Yusaku asks Ryoken, “Me and Specter think we’ll be Betas.”“My father says that I’ll be an Alpha just like him, but I’m not really sure what I’ll be. I really don’t want to do this but I don’t want to disappoint my father.” Ryoken replies.“No one is forcing you to do this you know, you shouldn’t feel obligated because of your father.” Specter says, turning his head to look at his friend.“I know, but I will put my displeasure aside and do it anyway.”

The three continue to talk as they walk to the palace for the Luster Selection. They meet up with Skye, Jin, Theodore and Miyu along the way.“What do you guys think your secondary gender will be?” Miyu asks the group.“I’ll probably end up being a Bate.” Skye replies.“I have no doubt that I’ll be a Bate.” Specter says with certainty.“You sound so sure of yourself Specter.” Skye says, turning her head to look at him.“I was born to serve.” He replies to her with a smile.“What about you Theodore?” Miyu asks.“I’m definitely an Alpha.” Theodore replies while gripping his backpack tightly. “What about you Miyu, what do you think you’ll be?”“I want to be an Omega,” She replies as she hugs Skye’s left arm. “And I hope Skye will be my Beta.”“You two have been quiet for a while, everything okay?” Jin asks Yusaku and Ryoken.“I’m fine.” Ryoken replies as he plays on his phone.“Same here, I’m good.” Yusaku replies, he’s been watching the others talk the whole time they’ve been walking.The group, like many other young high school kids, gather at the palace for Luster Selection. At the palace gates they’re given an empty Fertility Bracelet for which their colored orb will go into. After all the high schoolers enter the palace their parents start to show up, along with older and younger siblings to watch the selection. All of the high schoolers gather in a line in front of a basket of the colored orb for which they think is their secondary gender. One by one the high school’s names are called and they’re told to pick up an orb and place it in their bracelet. Ryoken and Theodora both pick up blue orbs which glow showing that they are indeed Alphas and wait to see what their friends will be. Alphas go first then Bates are next. Specter, Jin and Skye each pick up a green orb making it glow, but when Yusaku picks up a green orb it doesn’t glow showing that he’s not a Beta. Since he’s not a bate he’s taken out of line to wait until the very end of the selection to try a different orb. After all the Betas pick their orbs the Omegas are next to go, Miyu is extremely disappointed when her pink orb doesn’t glow. Like Yusaku, she’s taken out of line to wait until the end to pick a different orb. Once all of their friends and classmates have gotten their orbs Yusaku and Miyu pick orbs again. Yusaku ends up being an Omega while Miyu is an Alpha, this shocks the crowd of parents as it’s rare to see a male Omega and a female Alpha. But nonetheless the crowd claps seeing the next generation of Alphas, Bates and Omegas. After the selection, each group is introduced to their teacher that will be teaching them about what comes with being an Alpha, Beta and Omega. Alec Faust is the teacher for the Alphas, Michael Nightingale is the teacher for the Bates, and Clarissa Turner is the teacher for the Omegas. The three are close friends and are very strict teachers, they take a year to teach the three groups right before the Alphas and Omegas hit their first Heart and Rut cycles. Since it’s their first cycle the Alphas and Omegas are kept apart from each other until they’re assigned their Betas. Once the cycle is over the Betas are introduced to their Alphas and Omegas. Some know each other while others don’t.“Uh, that first Rut cycle was awful.” Ryoken complains, he’s standing in an auditorium with the rest of the Alphas and Omegas waiting to be assigned a Beta.“You’re telling me, the room was too hot and fans didn’t help.” Theodora whined back.“I can relate to that too.” Yusaku says as he walks over to the two Alphas. “So how was class with the Omegas?” Theodora asks.“I was taught separately since I’m the only male Omega. I heard the same thing happened to Miyu, we’re known apparently as the one percenters.” Yusaku replies.“I did hear something about that.” Ryoken says, “It’s rare but it has happened where some males end up being Omegas and some females end up being Alphas.”“Do they ever find partners?” Theodora asks a bit concerned.“Some of them do and some of them don’t.”“I doubt that I’m a match for Miyu.” Yusaku says.“Hey you never know.” Theodora says with a small hopeful smile.“Now now, settle down.” Alec says as he walks onto the stage. “Each of you will be called by name then your assigned Beta will be called.One by one the Alphas are called along with their assigned Betas.“Ryoken Kogami and Specter Avalon, Theodore Hamiltion and Kiku Kamishirakawa and last but not least, Miyu Sugisaki and Skye Zaizen.” Alec says as he finishes the list of Alphas.“Now Omeas listen for your names to be called.” Clarissa says, then starts calling out names. The last to be called is Yusaku and Jin. “Yusaku Fujiki and Jin Kolter.”“Betas, now that you have been paired with your Alphas and Omegas remember the rules. We don’t want any mishaps now.” Michael calls out.The Betas nod and everyone gets to know one another.“I can’t believe we got paired as Alpha and Beta.” Ryoken says happy to have Specter as his Beta.“I know, it also helps that we’ve known each other since grade school.” Specter replies with a smile.Over the next couple of months the Betas try to find compatible partners for their Alphas and Omegas. Unfortunately not many matches are being made Yusaku and Miyu don’t get along at all when they’re in Heat and Rut. While Theodore and Ryoken can’t find a compatible Omega. All the Betas can do is record the failed pairings and the Heat and Rut cycles of their Alphas and Omegas.
