“This is so
pretty,
Vis,” Wanda breathed, running her fingers over the gauzy soft black chiffon thing folded neatly in the shirtbox. “I love it.” She did not start hopping about excitedly like Pietro might have done over a gift he really liked, but she did scoot closer to Vision on the hotel room sofa and give him a hug. This room was warm and spacious, and she liked that the concierge people downstairs had not given them a second glance beyond the requisite ‘enjoy your stay’ and that they should call room service if they wanted anything. The hotel just assumed they were a normal young couple on a trip, which was deliciously ordinary and much welcome.
“I remembered you looking in the window of that consignment shop at something similar. I was uncertain if fancy lingerie was an acceptable gift at all until I consulted about it, so I wish to clarify that I do not expect anything from you, special occasion or not.” Vision could tell that Wanda genuinely was happy and not pretending to be, but he still wanted to make sure she didn’t think he expected any further intimacy than cuddles if that was all she wanted at the moment.
Wanda’s eyes sparkled mischievously. “Let me guess. You asked Nat if it was okay.”
“Well...yes. She knows you and she certainly should know more about what presents are acceptable for a young woman someone loves than our other teammates would.” Vision remembered Pepper not caring for the lingerie present Tony had given her for Valentine’s Day before, at least not at first, but Natasha had told him that giving Wanda a 60s-vintage-style negligee was hardly the same thing, pointing out that Wanda
loved
her old sitcoms and found vintage and alternative clothing items interesting. “She said you would like delicate fancy vintage-style lingerie, as long as I also made sure to let you decide what you wished to do or not do in it.”
Wanda knew Nat probably hadn’t worded it exactly like that, but she understood the gist. She carefully pulled the translucent negligee out of the box, her cheeks tinged slightly pink. On impulse she kissed Vision’s cheek and flitted into the hotel room bathroom, saying she would be right back.
It did fit, and Wanda ran her fingers over the soft dark fabric for a moment before tugging the ponytail holder out of her hair. Vision liked her long hair, and while Wanda knew he would never ever tell her what to do with it, she was also quite sure he preferred it down. There. That was better. Besides, the scarlet ribbon trim sort of matched her hair, and her enhancements too.
When she returned, Vision immediately smiled at her, blue eyes full of warmth. “You look lovely,” he said, in this quiet factual manner that left no room for debate. The moonlight shining through the window made her look like some sort of ethereal shadow fairy to him. Wanda’s dyed-red hair was wispy bits of fire like a crown.
“Do you...like it?” Wanda asked shyly, feeling silly for saying that when it was very obvious that yes, Vision most definitely
liked it
and had said she looked lovely, but the question came out anyway.
Vision padded closer gracefully, his gaze intently studying her in that particular manner that Wanda hated from anyone else because from anyone else it made her feel like the lab experiment all over again. Wanda instinctively leaned into the soft touch on her cheek, which inexplicably made him smile at her again. “Of course, because it is on you, and you like it. I do not think you would have emerged from the bathroom at all if you did not like how you look in it.”
Wanda tried very hard not to laugh and failed.
Well, that’s true. I wouldn’t have.
“Well, yes, but I still worried I might not look how you imagined, that’s all. I know you’ve...seen me before, but this is different.” She had shown Vision the scars littering her back before, and they had cuddled for a long while after, but she’d just been wearing her normal everyday undergarments and they hadn’t gone any further than that.
I think I wouldn’t mind, now. If we do more that is okay and if we don’t that is also okay.
“You do not. You are much better than anything I could have imagined. Am I
supposed
to take it off?” Vision asked, gently tracing a finger along Wanda’s neckline. “That is what occurs in all of the movies and research I have seen. I rather think I enjoy seeing it
on
you, but I should also enjoy seeing
you.
”
Wanda’s eyes sparkled and she pushed one lacy strap off her shoulder herself, letting the delicate fabric slide much further down her chest than she ordinarily would be comfortable with in a regular outfit. “Only if you want to. But don’t...not, just because you are worried about hurting me. Because I’m fine and I don’t mind.” She knew quite well Vision genuinely hadn’t expected anything at all from her when he had given her that present, but she could also tell he wanted
her
now, even if neither of them had much experience articulating and navigating such things.
But Wanda felt warm and safe, and that made her cautiously confident enough to find watching Vision smile at her and clearly being all flustered about the idea of seeing her naked
very
amusing. She flopped on her back against the pillows, her green eyes sparkling. “Today the princess feels safe with as little or as much ravishing as the prince would like,” Wanda teased.
“You do look like a princess. A rather lovely, statuesque Roman or Greek princess.” Vision did not climb on top of Wanda at all, which was sort of what she had expected him to do; instead he lay next to her and easily flipped
her
on top instead. “What sort of naughty things would my lovely princess like to be ravished with?”
Wanda had no idea if Vision had put her on top simply because he knew she would feel safer there or if he just genuinely preferred having her there.
Probably both. That’s just the sort of thoughtful thing Vis would do. I know so.
“I don’t know. This feels...good. I have no idea what I am doing, but roleplaying the sexy princess is rather fun. We can experiment. The good way.” That probably sounded silly, but both of them were happy and so she didn’t feel dumb saying so.
“Then I shall simply have to kiss these pretty hands until you decide.” Vision was holding her hands close and doing exactly as he said, which made Wanda stifle giggles for a minute, but then she abruptly tugged her hands away. “...Are you all right?”
Wanda nodded, wrapped her arms around Vision’s neck and held him tightly, eyes squeezed shut.
I don’t want to ruin everything by crying.
“I’m sorry, I really am happy, I promise. I just...you were
kissing my hands
over and over and you...you called them
pretty.
It is a- a really big deal to me, that’s all. I suppose you knew. I think I told you that before anyway. But...yeah. That’s all,” she repeated, and then, “You make me feel special.
Me,
not just because I’m enhanced.”
I feel like he would still want me whether I had powers or not.
The mind stone sang at her cheerfully, as if the odd connection between their powers was just a nice little bonus, and Wanda realized she did not mind that. Often she just wished her powers didn’t just randomly react to things, but somehow Vision made her feel that oh-so-elusive normal she longed for so badly anyway.
Normal, but Vision’s special person. She liked being special to someone she loved very much, because that was a normal happily-ever-after thing for normal people, even if neither of them were ordinary humans at all.
Vision most certainly did not mind a barely clothed Wanda lying on top of him, but he also knew she wasn’t playing around or teasing anymore, either. He hugged her back and gently kissed her ear since that was all he could reach at the moment. “You
are
special. There are no other humans that treat me as you do, either.”
“I should hope not,” Wanda said, her amused voice muffled in Vision’s shoulder, “because
obviously
you have the right to do what you please with whoever, but I would not like it one bit. I don’t want to share you. And I would tell Nat on you. But I trust you, I know you won’t.”
Vision laughed, because he could tell Wanda wasn’t upset at all. She sounded like she thought she had made a very good joke, which made
him
happy because she had not made a huge deal over what he had told her. Wanda did make him feel all sorts of confusing human feels, and he knew being granted enough trust for
anything
intimate was a big deal for her, because she hated feeling vulnerable and didn’t trust people easily in general. But right now she was just flopped on top of him, thoroughly relaxed. “Do you wish to do anything else or do you wish to simply stay there? Either is perfectly agreeable to me.”
Wanda knew Vision meant it, so she told him the truth. “Both. But even outside the silly game, you
make
me feel like a princess,” she whispered.
“I did not think anyone would ever want me at all after the experiments,”
Wanda told him telepathically, because that was easier for her to say that way.
“I mean, it wasn’t exactly a...priority to me or anything, but I just...assumed. Because who wants a girl that could rip their mind apart?”
Vision’s warm, strong arms tightened around her. “I do,” he said quietly. “I do.”
