No one stays with him. Not a single person or creature. He lays there all alone as he bleeds out onto the ground, his black Abyssal blood pooling into the divets in the dirt, forming the star shape that haunts the world. His head is still reeling. How could she- how could his god do this to him? After he'd trusted her so deeply, devoted his whole life to her? Even when she'd hurt him with hands wandering to places they shouldn't be, sharp words, isolation, he'd always justified her actions, always coming up with reasons why she had to do it, why he deserved it. But now… he just doesn't understand. He'd been good, so good, giving her whatever she wanted, following her orders down to the letter, even when they resulted in him being injured, humiliated, and used as a scapegoat, even when he knew they were a wild goose chase. He was a good, obedient soldier. A good, obedient dog.Yet here he lies, used as a ritual sacrifice, dying all alone, knowing there's truly no one on his side. His blood pours from the slit in his stomach, having been gutted like a fish. It's cold, it hurts, burns, even. But what's worse is the loneliness. No one, nothing is there. They'd all just… left him behind. Even the Traveler, even though they'd never been outwardly kind to him, he hadn't pegged them as the type to leave someone to die alone. This isn't the death he'd wanted. He'd always wanted to die in battle, in a blaze of glory, not killed by his own god for her own gain. He nearly cries, cries out for someone, anyone, to be with him, but he doesn't. The circumstances of his death are already too humiliating. He tries to push himself up to his feet, to stumble towards the portal his blood had been used to open, just to be with someone, just to not be alone, but he collapses just before it, his body hitting the ground with a hard thud. He can't hold back the soft, desperate whimper that escapes his throat. He doesn't want to die, not now, not like this, but his desperation gets him nowhere. Right now, no matter how much he wants to deny it, to change it, he's a scared, broken child. And all he can think to say, in a barely audible, hoarse, whisper is:“...I wanna go home…”
