Timmy and Chloe walked up the steps to the fancy country club ballroom. His dad was invited because of his newfound wealth and they could each bring a plus one.

The room was filled with million, billion, and gazillionaires all chatting and dancing on the marble floors. The music was classy and made you want to hold onto someone and twirl around slowly and romantically.

The two gawked and awed at the mere size of the ballroom. Chandeliers lit up the large space and the crystals that dangled from them would leave anyone mesmerized.

Upstairs, sat a table alone, was Remy Buxaplenty. He watched Timmy and Chloe from afar with a pained expression.

He had heard about Timmy having a new friend, but if he had invited her as a plus one, she must have been much more. A jealousy filled his heart.

Juandissimo poofed into a seat.

“Remy, what has you so troubled?” He asked.

“It’s that Carmichael girl. I’m finally back in Dimmsdale after months on that stupid trip and I’ve returned to find my chances with Turner are ruined!” Remy explained, throwing his arms in the air before crossing them angrily.

“Well we don’t know if they’re really a thing, my friend.” Juandissimo said, attempting to comfort his godchild, “If we observe a little more, you’ll see that there’s nothing going on between them.”

Remy perked up as he saw Timmy and Chloe walking towards the buffet table. Chloe grabbed one of the marshmallow skewers that sat near the chocolate fountain before dipping it in. She then held the treat up to Timmy’s face and he took a bite.

“She’s even feeding him!” He exclaimed, slamming his fists on the table.

“Well… that could just be… a friend thing?” Juandissimo said with uncertainty.

Suddenly, Timmy said something to Chloe before running off without her, leaving her alone at the buffet table. Remy grinned.

“This is my chance.” He said, getting up from the table.

Juandissimo tried to go after him, but he knew once Remy got going, he wasn’t stopping until he was done.

“Hello, Chloe Carmichael.” Remy said, walking up to her.

“Oh, hello there! Are you Remy Buxaplenty?” Chloe replied.

“Guilty as charged.”

“Wow! It’s so nice to meet you! I’ve only heard of you from newspapers, but it’s a whole different feeling seeing you in person.”

She held out her hand for Remy to shake it.

“Yes… charming to meet your acquaintance.” He said, pulling a handkerchief out of his coat pocket and using it to shake her hand.

“How have you heard about me?” Chloe asked.

“Oh trust me,” Remy said, “I know everyone in this town.”

The two stood in slightly awkward silence.

“So… when did you and Turner become… an item?” Remy asked.

Chloe flinched in surprise and her eyes widened.

“Woah ho ho ho!” She said, “We are- it is not-!”

She shook her head to clear it.

“We are NOT like that.” She said with an uncomfortable laugh.

Remy raised his brows. “Really?”

“Oh yeah! He’s like a brother to me. Even if he wasn’t, he’s super gross. I wouldn’t even dream of being like that with him.”

“Then why did he invite you as his plus one?”

“Because we’re best friends, duh!”

“Why did you feed him those marshmallows??”

“He’s lazy and didn’t want to do it himself.”

Remy paused for a moment. Juandissimo was right. There really was nothing going on.

“Where is he now?” He asked.

“He said he was going to check out the carnivorous plant in the gardens. I’m not too thrilled about stuff like that so I’m just waiting for him.” Chloe replied.

Remy smiled. “Well, it was a pleasure meeting you.” He said, “I must get going now.”

“Have fun with Timmy!”

“Huh?”

“Well that’s what you’re doing right?”

“… don’t tell anybody.”

Chloe chuckled. “I won’t.”

Remy ran off to the gardens. He stopped when he saw Timmy looking at the roses. He seemed disappointed.

“Hello Turner.” Remy greeted him.

“Oh, hey Remy!” Timmy said, looking up from the flowers, “It’s been a minute since we talked.”

“Yes. Yes it has.” The rich boy replied, “Why do you look so sad?”

“I went out here to see the carnivorous plant, but it’s closed because it tried to eat someone’s baby…” Timmy explained.

“Oh. I’m sorry you couldn’t see it. Perhaps next time…”

Remy looked at Timmy for a few seconds. He’d been waiting a while to say something, but now he felt like the words escaped him. He took a deep breath and decided to let whatever came out of his mouth to come out.

“That suit looks nice on you.” He said, averting his eyes in embarrassment.

“Oh. Thanks.” Timmy said, “Your suit looks nice too.”

The two stood there awkwardly looking away from one another. Neither really knew what to say.

Timmy had felt the same way as Remy for a bit. He didn’t fully understand the feeling, but he knew he had to do something before Remy walked away.

Timmy picked one of the roses off of the rose bush. He placed it on Remy’s ear.

“This… goes with your bow tie.” He said.

“Gah! Sorry that was lame!” He went to reach for the rose to take it back, but Remy stopped him. He grabbed the rose himself.

“You’re lame.” He said, tapping it on Timmy’s nose and laughing.

Timmy started laughing too.

“No, you’re lame!” He said, gently pushing Remy before running off.

Remy gave chase. They ran off into the empty golf field. He was able to throw himself onto Timmy, knocking both of them onto the grass.

They both laughed.

“Why did I ever hate you?” Remy asked.

“Eh, it was reasonable.” Timmy replied.

“Maybe it was. Though it feels much nicer like this.”

“Yeah. It does.”

The two laid in the soft, slightly dewy grass. They talked about how their lives had been and reminisced on the past. It was nice out and the sun was beginning to set.

Timmy heard his dad call out for him from the ballroom. It seemed it was time for him to leave.

“Bye Remy. I’ll see you again soon.” He said.

“Bye Timmy.” Remy replied before giving him a hug.

Timmy returned the embrace and then ran off.

Juandissimo poofed to Remy’s side.

“Told you.”

“Whatever.” Remy said.
