Jisung couldn’t help but stare out the window for the entire trip from the airport over to the Olympic village. The sights were incredible. He’d been to Paris before a couple of years back to partake in one of the bouldering championships but he never had a chance to take part in Paris.

It was a lot quieter than he had thought. He knew that most Parisians had actually gone away to their holiday homes, or had left Paris because of the games. Jisung remembered briefly when the Olympics had been in London in 2012. His parents had managed to get tickets to a few of the smaller and less popular events like archery and hockey. He had spent his days walking around the very busy Olympic Park and waiting in a line to get his photo with the Olympic torch. It was almost surreal that 12 years later he was now taking part in the games as well.

On the way to the Olympic village, they drove past the Arc de Triomphe and Jisung couldn’t help but film them going round the large roundabout. He would have to make a video about his trip so he could send it to his family.

Pulling up to the village Jisung immediately sucked in a breath. It was busy, very busy. The whole of the South Korean team had arrived at the same time. But a bunch of other athletes and coaches were milling about, dragging their suitcases into the first part of getting their credentials.

“Right before we get off the bus, I will let you know what we are doing. We’ll be going through security, then you’ll get your credentials. We’ll then head over to the team house and you can dump your stuff down. You can then explore the village. But we will be having a meeting later in the day so don’t turn your phones off and please keep an eye out for my message.” See-Yung announced to the climbers.

Jisung glanced over to Miihi and Jeonyeon who both looked like they were going to jump out of their seats the second See-Yung let them off the bus. Minho and Changbin were sitting half listening and half typing away on their phones and scrolling through social media still catching up with any missed messages they had gotten whilst on the long flight.

Jisung only had a few ‘safe flying’ messages from his family and one from Felix saying how he had just arrived at the village and was gorging on a chocolate muffin, something Jisung

had

to try apparently.

The boy was excited to finally see his friend for what felt like months. They'd actually be able to hang out rather than just training, which Jisung was excited for.

Without even realising See-Yung had finished giving them instructions everyone started to make their way off the bus to grab their suitcases and bags. Luckily security didn’t take too long. It was just like a small airport style security and their bags were scanned as they walked through the metal detector arch thing, the only good thing was you wouldn’t get randomly selected to be patted down.

“You excited?” Miihi dragged her suitcase besides where Jisung was standing waiting for everyone to finish getting cleared.

“Very. I can’t wait to go in and see what the village looks like. Apparently, they have a large gym, and like random things like a hair and beauty place? Might get my nails painted for the competition.” Jisung hummed as he watched Minho roll his eyes at a security member who was patting him down because he had forgotten to take off some metal.

“Oooo that would be fun! Let me know when you do that, I'll join you.” Miihi grinned.

“I’ll make sure to let you know when I go! We could get matching ones!” Jisung said as they all began dragging their suitcases into the credentials area.

Getting their credentials was pretty straight forward, they had to show their passport and their South Korean Athlete pass which were given out on the plane ride. After getting them their photo was taken and they could then get their credentials promptly after. As well as a few safeties information like how they had to wear them the entire time they were in the village as well as keeping them on whilst out in Paris. Apparently, they got some extra perks if they wore them out? That definitely seemed to spark Changbin’s interest.

Jisung fiddled with his lanyard as they hopped onto a golf cart to get taken to the South Korean building.

“I hate my photo on my credentials.” Jeongyeon whined as she climbed in and sat beside Jisung on the cart.

“Same, they didn’t warn me when they were going to take it and so I'm pretty sure I look drunk.” Jisung showed his teammate his slightly wonky looking face, his eyes not focused on the camera at all. Jeongyeon let out a small laugh as she held up her own photo to compare.

“I’m half blinking, I didn’t realise they would have a flash and I always react to flashes on cameras…I wish they would’ve given us a chance to have them done again if we didn’t like them.”

“Let’s hope security doesn't check them too seriously, cause that’s going to be embarrassing.” Jisung chuckled lightly as he glanced out towards the village. They passed by the Great Britain team house, the lion and Union Jack staring him down.  He almost wanted to jump out and head inside to see what it was like. Where he was technically supposed to be staying.

“Wow look at the USA house, how many athletes do they have?” Miihi pointed out the USA flags in the distance. It seemed like they were taking over double the amount of most of the other teams.

“It’s about 600 I think this year? We have 143, less than last year.” See-Yung commented as they started to slow down as they pulled to a stop in the front of the South Korean house. There were flags hanging all across the balconies and a huge welcome sign to invite them inside.

The team hopped off the golf cart and entered into the house, it was buzzing with life. It seemed like some of the athletes had gotten here a lot quicker than the climbing team. Some were already playing a game of table football, cheering loudly. Jisung winced lightly at the sudden cheer by his ear as some other athlete rushed past him to join in with the game. It was very overwhelming trying to understand what was happening. His Korean was still a bit of a mess and so hearing everyone shouting and talking over each other Jisung was struggling to keep up with translating everything in his head and keep up with what was happening. The bottom floor seemed like a very extravagant hotel entrance. Everything was decorated in the Korean colours. There was a lot of blue and white furniture with red and black accents in places. There was a lot to take in. But Jisung really didn’t have the energy to explore. He hadn’t managed to sleep much on the plane and so was pretty exhausted. He just prayed the beds weren’t as bad as everyone was saying they were.

“Right, here are all your room numbers. Changbin you lucked out and got a room with San. But if I hear about you two pranking people and being loud at night, I'll make sure you switch.” See-Yung gave Changbin a pointed look before he passed over a piece of paper with his room number on and Changbin immediately rushed away to head up there.

“Miihi and Jeongyeon, you two are together, I think there’s a third bed in your room which may get used but I’m not sure yet.” See-Yung passed over the pair their room number before looking towards Jisung, and Minho who was standing just behind him.

“If I hear any funny business from you two, I will be banning you from seeing each other except for training.” See-Yung glared lightly at Minho.

“Oh-w-we aren’t.” Jisung stuttered out as Minho leaned into his back and snatched the paper out of See-Yung’s hand.

“I’ll make sure to buy you some ear plugs, Coach.” Minho gave a wink and a small chuckle before placing a hand on Jisung’s lower back and guiding him towards the lift. Jisung felt his face heat up, he hoped none of the other South Korean team were paying attention to them.

“Yah! Lee Minho! I’ll make sure you do extra conditioning.” See-Yung called as the pair walked away from him.

Minho tipped his head back and chuckled loudly as he glanced towards the room number. Jisung sighed in relief, noticing they were on one of the lower floors.

“I’m pretty sure all us climbers are in the same kind of apartment place? So, we will still be near the others.” Minho mentioned as he clicked the third-floor button. Jisung noticed how it went up to six different floors.

“That’s good...” Jisung mumbled as he tried to slow down his heart that was beating so fast, he wasn’t sure if it was just from being overwhelmed over the vast amount of people, or Minho not bothering to correct See-Yung… or the fact that Jisung would be sharing a room with Minho… maybe all three.

Probably

all three.

The lift ride was quick and Jisung wasted no time in quickly heading over to where his room was supposed to be, as he opened the door, he spotted two of the iconic beds that were definitely cardboard, on each bed were a bag which seemed to have gifts in.

“Oh, it’s pretty roomy. Even got a balcony.” Minho hummed as he dumped his bags on one of the beds. Jisung winced lightly as the bags didn’t even bounce. Yup, they weren’t going to be comfortable to sleep on.

“Yeah, don’t think I’ll like these beds though.” Jisung mentioned as he sat down on his bed to look through his gifts. The bed was hard… definitely not going to be fun to sleep on.

“Ah yes, the ‘anti-sex’ beds.” Minho chuckled, “Call them that but then apparently they are giving out free Olympic themed condoms, huh?” Minho joked as he sat beside Jisung to look at the gifts.

“We get a phone, don’t we?” Minho asked as he tried to peer into Jisung’s gift bag, Jisung quickly moved it out the way and whined, “Yah! Look at your own!”

“It’s the same thing though I can’t be asked to move now, I'm comfy.” Minho pouted as he collapsed onto the bed. Jisung stopped himself from laughing as Minho didn’t fall gracefully, as his body hit the cardboard bed and the weird mattress, he let out a small grunt from the hardness.

“Oh yeah sure. That looks super comfy Min.” Jisung scoffed sarcastically as he pulled out a box which he assumed was their new phone. He’d definitely be setting it up and using it immediately.

“Mhmmm, so comfy. I think we should just switch beds.” Minho joked as he shut his eyes and pretended to go to sleep.

“I’ll just sleep on you; pretty sure you’ll be comfier than the beds.” Jisung pushed Minho slightly as the older boy opened his arms up, inviting him into his arms.

Minho hummed,”Sungie, come and nap. You’ve barely slept. Don’t think I didn’t notice how antsy you were getting downstairs because of how busy it was. Let’s have a short nap and then we can go to that stupid meeting See-Yung wants us to go to. Then we can check out the dining hall.” Minho suggested as he grabbed Jisung’s t-shirt and dragged him down.

Jisung huffed lightly, trying to fight his tiredness. But Minho was right, he was exhausted. He curled himself up beside Minho, letting his head rest on the boy’s chest. The steady beating of Minho’s heart helped Jisung calm his own racing heart.

Jisung let his eyes drift shut as he felt Minho play with his hair lightly.

He needed sleep if he had the opening ceremony later.
