TW: Vomit, Needles.--Yoongi threw his head back and groaned in agony. "Seriously, what the fuck."He didn't want to go to the beach again. Unfortunately, it seemed to be a majority vote every single time the members were choosing what to do on their time off. At the same time, he didn't want to sit at home alone without them either. He still loved spending time with them enough to deal with going to the beach, much to his heart's discontent.Jungkook patted him on the back. "It would be more fun if you'd actually get in the water with us one of these days instead of staying on the beach the entire time.""Koo, you know I hate swimming," Yoongi replied."Not to mention you don't know how to swim!" Namjoon started to tease his hyung.Yoongi pointed his finger in Namjoon's face. "Yah! Nobody asked you!"Jin came over and wrapped his arm around Yoongi's shoulders. "Come on, let hyung teach you how to swim.""No."Yoongi spoke in a tone he only used when he was dead serious, so nobody pestered him about it after that. The boy didn't, and would never, like water."Our fans are right. You're definitely a cat," Jungkook teased.Yoongi took his shoe off and chucked it at the maknae, not out of anger, but to be silly.Taehyung, Jimin, and Hobi strolled in asking if everyone was ready to go. They were hoping to get to the beach early in order to get a nice spot close to the water. When everyone was ready to go, they were quickly off. They got there right as the beach opened so were able to get first dibs on where they set up their towels and chairs. After everyone was settled and had their sunscreen on, all of them except for Yoongi sprinted to the water and dove into the waves. The second eldest pulled out a book and read it while laying on his towel, shutting out the sounds of the others splashing and screaming. As much as he hated being in the water, he realized he didn't quite mind the peacefulness being at the beach actually brought. As the salty air filled his nose and the sun beamed down on him he actually felt quite relaxed. So relaxed that he started to doze off and fall asleep. He was awoken by small splashes of water hitting him in the face. He squinted his eyes open and looked up to see Jin standing above him, his body blocking the sun behind him. "Yoongi-ah, you're quite red. Did you put on enough sunscreen?""Yes," Yoongi mumbled. Jin playfully started squeezing the water from his shorts onto his dongsaeng's body."Hey! What the hell! Stop!""I'm doing you a favor. Aren't you hot? You've been laying out in the sun. I think you should at least take a quick dip in the water," Jin suggested. He knew Yoongi had been baking in the sun for a while and the boys cheeks were rosy and his chest was turning bright red. Sunscreen or not, it was hot out and he didn't want Yoongi to boil to death. So what kind of hyung would he be if he didn't suddenly pick Yoongi up and start walking him towards the ocean for a quick dip in the refreshing ocean?"Put me down right the fuck now, Jin!" Yoongi started kicking his feet, but Jin was too busy laughing. The younger was yelling and squirming but Jin wouldn't let go as he finally made it to the water. Yoongi suddenly wrapped his arms around Jin's shoulders and held on tight. "Don't let me go. Please don't let me go," Yoongi begged."Relax, Yoongs," Jin said, "I'm not trying to drown you. Calm down. You just need a quick dip!"Jin was chest deep in the water with Yoongi practically wrapped around his neck trying to not be in it, but Jin kept bending down and making sure Yoongi got wet. The others were in absolute hysterics watching Jin torture Yoongi this way. "You can't tell me this isn't refreshing," Jin said.Yoongi had no response. He was too busy trying not to panic, and too busy being angry at his hyung for being annoying. A few minutes later Jin carried him back out and placed him back down on his towel. "Now, make sure you're drinking enough water too." Jin grabbed one out of the cooler and handed it to the younger. "I'm going back in to swim!"After Jin disappeared, Yoongi took a few sips of the water. He realized that as annoying as Jin was, that little quick dip in the ocean was actually extremely refreshing. It woke him up and cooled off his body. However, with the sun still beaming down on him and with how comfortable he was, he ended up falling asleep on his towel once again. This time to be woken up by all of his members surrounding him as they had gotten out of the water and were drying off. Jin was gently shaking him to wake him up, and once he opened his eyes he realized how sick he suddenly felt. His head was throbbing and his body ached. He didn't understand why he suddenly felt so lightheaded. He realized he must not have looked all that great on the outside either, because both Jin and Hobi were asking him if he felt alright."Mm...just a bit dizzy," Yoongi admitted."Drink more water," Jin demanded. He took the bottle of water and put it to Yoongi's mouth, pouring small sips for him. Jin's eyebrows furrowed with worry when he could tell Yoongi really wasn't looking so good. If anything, it was clear the boy was going to have a sunburn at the very least. He asked Yoongi if he had reapplied the sunscreen, in which the younger had claimed he did a few times so he wasn't too worried about that. "It's just really hot out."Upon hearing this, Jin took the water and dumped the rest of it onto Yoongi's body."Hyung!" Yoongi screamed.Jin shrugged. "What? You said it was really hot! So, you're welcome!"This had the others laughing once again. The members were finished packing up and were ready to go but as soon as Yoongi stood up he swayed on his feet and stumbled into Jungkook. "Woah, are you alright?" the maknae asked, his voice laced with concern."Yeah, yeah I think I just stood up too quickly."Jungkook grabbed hold of his hyung and held onto him while they made it back to the car. He couldn't help but notice that his hyung was using him for quite a lot of support while they walked slowly. Yoongi didn't want to admit it because he didn't want to worry anyone, but everything looked as though it was spinning. The clouds above and the pavement below all seemed to be moving in circles, and it was causing him to stumble a lot.All of the members were growing increasingly worried, with Hobi offering his hyung another cold water from the cooler. The eldest rapper took it, but after only a few sips he realized he felt extremely nauseous and couldn't drink anymore. He rested his head against the window once he was seated in the car and closed his eyes, yet again drifting off to sleep. He didn't understand why he had absolutely no energy.Once they arrived home, it was already pretty late into the night so the members decided to head straight to bed. As fun as the beach was for them, the constant fun was also extremely exhausting. They also didn't understand why Yoongi was so tired, considering he never even went swimming. The rapper stumbled his way into his room and face planted into his pillow, hoping to pass out fast and feel better in the morning. Currently, he was only starting to feel worse.Jin was the last to head to bed, and entered the room he shared with Yoongi. The boy was still face down into his pillow, so the elder went over and readjusted him a bit. "There, so you don't suffocate yourself in your sleep."Jin curled up into his bed and was ready to drift off into dreamland himself, but before he fully fell asleep he was woken up by the sound of Yoongi sitting up in bed and crying. He turned the light on and rushed over, grabbing a seat next to him and wrapping his arms around him. "Hey, shh, what's wrong, Yoongs?" He started rocking the younger in his arms as he tried to comfort him. He wiped the tears that had started streaming down his dongsaeng's face."I-I don't f-f-feel so good, hyung," Yoongi whimpered. Before either of them could say anything else, Yoongi suddenly started throwing up all over his bed. Jin rushed to grab the little trash can they had in the corner and he quickly shoved it in front of Yoongi's face, now catching the vomit that wouldn't stop spewing out of him. Yoongi only started to sob harder, to the point where he was hyperventilating. He also started to whimper that it was too hot.Jin didn't understand, because the air conditioner was on full blast. It was actually quite cold but Yoongi kept screaming in agony that it was too hot. His head hurt. His insides hurt. His skin hurt.Jin wasn't sure what to do, so he ran and got some cold wet washcloths for the younger. As he was helping Yoongi get his shirt off he realized that his skin was blistering. He gently ran his fingers around the blisters. "Yoongs..." Jin whispered with concern."It-it hurts, hyung," Yoongi cried over and over before throwing up again.Jin was starting to panic. Yoongi wouldn't stop throwing up and some of his blisters were starting to bleed. He tried offering his dongsaeng sips of water, but the boy couldn't keep anything down. He kept complaining that his head was throbbing and the room was spinning.Jin decided to take Yoongi's temperature and it was extremely high. Higher than he thought humanly possible. Jin was beginning to realize that Yoongi was going to need more medical attention than he was capable of giving. He gripped Yoongi's red, tear streaked cheeks in his hand. "Hey, listen to me. I hate to say this kiddo, but you have to go to the hospital."Yoongi's body stiffened as his eyes turned to an expression of absolute terror. "No," he protested. If there was anything Yoongi hated in this entire world, even more than water, it was the hospital. He was absolutely terrified of hospitals. He'd rather die in his bed than have to go. Yoongi placed his hands over Jin's. "Please, hyung. No," he cried.Seeing Yoongi instantly terrified made Jin start crying too. His heart was aching seeing his dongsaeng so scared, but he didn't know what else to do. "I know you don't want to, but you're really sick and you need help," Jin said with gentleness in his voice."Hyung, please." The tears were pouring out of Yoongi's eyes, and he started crying so hard that he began throwing up again.Jin pulled him into a hug and squeezed him tightly, now realizing just how badly Yoongi's body was burning up. The boy's skin felt like there was fire beneath the surface trying to make its way out. "I have to take you."Jin didn't give Yoongi anymore time to protest. He scooped him up in his arms, grabbing the trash can too, and headed for the car. He really didn't want to wake the others and cause a scene so he decided he'd let them all know later what was going on. Right now his top priority was getting Yoongi to the hospital. The boy started crying harder and tried squirming his way out of Jin's arms as he was being carried to the car, but Jin was stronger.Yoongi cried and threw up the entire way to the Emergency Room.Once there, Jin carried him inside and started screaming for help. "I don't know what's wrong but he's really sick!"Doctors rushed over and guided them to one of their available rooms, and as soon as they saw his skin blistering they asked what might have happened. Jin mentioned that they had been at the beach all day.The first thing the doctors did was try to get an IV drip into Yoongi because they could tell just by looking at him that he was dehydrated.Unfortunately, not only was Yoongi terrified of hospitals, but also needles. He jerked his arm away when the doctor tried putting the needle into his arm. "No!" He immediately turned to Jin, with tears glistening in his eyes. "I want to go home. Please. Hyung, please."Yoongi wanted to either go home, or just be dead. This was all becoming too much too fast. What was supposed to be a simple, relaxing day at the beach was quickly turning into his absolute worst nightmare. Everything hurt, he was miserable, and now not only miserable but also scared. The only thing keeping him from passing out at the moment was knowing he had his only hyung right there with him. As much as he would have loved having all of the members surrounding him, he did find solace in the fact that at least he had his only big brother. The doctor waited a moment while Jin tried to offer words of encouragement. "Hey, it's alright." Jin was gently running his hands through the younger's hair and swiping the sweat drenched strands out of his eyes. "It's just a small poke and then you won't even feel it. You need it to feel better. The faster you let the doctors help, the faster you get to go home. Doesn't that sound nice?"It did sound nice, but it didn't take the fear away. Yoongi was so afraid of needles. He had his head and body turned slightly sideways in the hospital bed, facing Jin."Just don't watch the doctor put it in your arm. Just focus on me, okay? Just look at me." Jin was now rubbing Yoongi's shoulder to try and distract him from the fact that the doctor had taken his arm back and was putting the needle in it. Yoongi clenched his eyes closed and let out a small whimper of fear, but Jin was right there to whisper soft reassurances to him."It's in and covered with tape now, you can't even see the needle anymore. You did a great job." Jin ran his fingers through the younger's hair again.Yoongi slowly turned and looked at his arm to see tubes now connected to him, covered with gauze and tape. He felt his heart sink in his chest as the reality hit him that he was actually so sick that he ended up in this position. He turned back to Jin. "I'm really scared."Jin's heart broke even more. It wasn't like Yoongi to really express how he was feeling, so hearing him admit and show just how scared and vulnerable he was feeling was a lot to take in. He couldn't even comprehend how bad his poor little brother was truly feeling and he hated feeling so helpless. He could only hope the doctors could take good care of him.The doctors had to run some blood tests, which unfortunately meant sticking more needles into Yoongi's arms, but he did relatively okay as long as he kept his eyes closed and Jin held him tightly. The doctors already suspected sun poisoning and heat stroke, in which all the tests they did came back as exactly that."What the hell," Jin said, "How? He used sunscreen and drank water and everything..."Yoongi was a bit out of it due to some medicine he was on, so he wasn't very capable of answering any questions. The doctors asked if Jin knew what sunscreen Yoongi had used and he informed them he could go grab it from the car. He went to leave but Yoongi snatched his wrist. "Don't leave." His lower lip quivered just at the thought of Jin not being in the room with him. He did not want to be alone."It's alright, I will be back before you know it. I just have to go grab the sunscreen you used and show it to the doctor." Jin promised to be back quickly, but that didn't stop Yoongi from letting more of his tears trickle down his cheeks. The more he cried, the more out of it he became. The bright ceiling lights were blurring in and out and his head was swaying back and forth in his pillow. He felt something cold being put over his shirtless body, and he could only make out the words "cold" and "blanket." Also something to do with "overheating." He also saw the doctors putting some kind of gel on his blisters. It stung something fierce, first burning his skin upon contact and then making him feel like he was freezing. He didn't understand what was going on and he was starting to panic more.I want Jin hyung to come back.As soon as he saw his hyung run back into the room, he stretched his arms out, reaching for him. "Hyung," he whimpered, "stay here.""I will, I will. I promise. I just had to grab this." Jin handed the sunscreen to the doctor and the first thing they realized was the bottle had expired.Six years ago."This was useless," the doctor informed.Jin didn't understand why Yoongi had used it, but figured it was probably just something he left sitting around forever and happened to find it before their beach trip.Jin rubbed his hands down his face, his body was tense with sorrow and frustration. Poor kid."Is he going to be okay?" Jin asked the doctor. He looked to his brother to see his eyes darting all across the room, half open. He was covered with cold blankets and Jin also noticed that the temperature in the room had dropped significantly. The doctors said it was to help bring Yoongi's body temperature down before his organs started to actually boil themselves. The doctors said that Yoongi should be better within a few hours. "It's a good thing you got here when you did, though. If left untreated he might not have even made it until morning."Now it was Jin's turn to throw up. He ran over to a trash can in the corner and wretched into it multiple times. Hearing that Yoongi could have died overnight had Jin's head reeling. His tears also spilled down his face and landed into the trash can too. He looked over to see Yoongi too out of it to really comprehend what was going on. "He could have died," Jin whispered to himself. The words felt unreal. Like he was in his own bad dream he couldn't wake up from. He suddenly felt like a failure of a hyung.I should have prevented this. I should have checked his sunscreen. I should have given him more water. I should have brought an umbrella. I should have dipped him in the water more. I should have been a more protective big brother.Jin kept going over in his head all the things he felt like he should have done differently. I'm the only hyung he has. It's my responsibility to take care of him and I failed. He walked over to Yoongi and dropped his forehead down against his dongsaengs as he cried. "I'm so sorry."Yoongi weakly grabbed his hyungs hand and squeezed it. "It's not your fault."After that, Yoongi didn't have the energy for anything anymore. All of the sickness and meds he was on knocked him out.All Jin could do was sit by his bedside awake all night as he watched the doctors constantly applying cream to the blisters and changing out the IV bag. He was grateful that at least Yoongi was asleep for all of this. He could feel how heavy his eyelids were and how exhausted his body was, but he couldn't bring himself to close his eyes even for a moment. He was so scared that if he rested, Yoongi would die before he woke up. So he didn't let go for a moment. Whether it be holding Yoongi's hand and playing with his fingers, rubbing his back, or simply running his hands through the younger's hair, Jin had to be in contact with him to feel his body. To make sure his body was still working. The younger was hooked up to a heart monitor that was beeping steadily, a sure sign that Yoongi's heart was beating alright, but Jin still needed that physical contact. He also knew that it was comforting to Yoongi whether the boy was awake or not.The hours came and went, and come morning, Jin noticed that the color of Yoongi's skin looked so much better than it had yesterday. His blisters were already calming down as well. Jin decided to finally text the others what happened. Whoever wakes up first will see it.In which, Jungkook was the first to wake up and see the text. He called Jin in a complete panic and demanded more answers. Jin was able to get him to calm down a bit, but said to meet at the hospital with everyone as soon as possible. It only took 20 minutes before the others came running into the hospital room. The ruckus woke Yoongi up, and as groggy and tired as he was, it was evident that his eyes were more focused than the previous night. "Hi," he said once he saw all of his members surrounding him."Hyung!" Taehyung screamed and was the first to reach his hyungs bedside. He pulled him into the tightest hug possible without hurting him. All of the members were quickly surrounding him and offering hugs and expressing their worry.Yoongi was becoming more alert, and realized he was already feeling much better. His head felt clearer and he wasn't as dizzy, and he was able to understand what was going and what everyone was saying. The boys had a million and a half questions for the doctors, but in the end they were told that Yoongi was going to be just fine.Namjoon and Hobi had both turned to Jin and started complaining about how Jin hadn't woken them up so they could help."I didn't want to worry anyone, and I had to get here as fast as possible. I'm sorry, I didn't know what else to do. I've never been in this situation before," Jin defended. "I'm sorry if I made a mistake."This instantly made everyone feel bad, and Hobi and Namjoon apologized, saying they were only acting out of worry and they appreciated Jin for making sure that their brother got the care he needed in the time he did."I want to go home," Yoongi informed. He was still anxious about being in the hospital, and now that he was feeling better, he figured surely that meant he could leave. He was informed otherwise, though. The doctors told him he had to stay for monitoring for at least another day, which made the eldest rapper start to quietly cry. The members said they weren't going to leave his side, which made him feel a bit better.Jimin was trying to figure out how this all happened so quickly. "I mean we go to the beach all the time.""Just bad luck I guess," Yoongi shrugged. "I also wasn't aware that the sunscreen wouldn't work. It's just one I found in my closet and grabbed.""Poor guy," Hobi cooed as he caressed the side of Yoongi's cheek with the back of his fingers. He wouldn't admit it out loud, literally ever, but being babied by his members was always a small luxury. Especially being the second oldest, it wasn't often he got this kind of royal treatment and attention.Namjoon told Yoongi that they'll avoid the beach for quite a while, and that he can be the one to pick their next fun activities for the time being. "Thanks." Yoongi couldn't help but start laughing. "If I didn't hate the beach enough already, I sure do now."This got a slight giggle from all of his members. They were ecstatic to see him in such good spirits despite everything."Considering it was a day almost deadly for you, I don't even blame you anymore," Jimin replied.Hearing that sent Jin's heart right back down to his stomach. Being reminded that Yoongi could have died.He grabbed a seat in the corner of the room and began to sulk alone, until Jungkook noticed his hyungs sadness and made his way over to him. "What's wrong?" the maknae asked."I'm his only hyung. I was supposed to protect him from something like this happening." Jin admitted his guilt."You can't blame yourself for this." Jungkook grabbed Jin's chin and lifted his face up towards him to make eye contact. "None of us knew. None of us could have known. Give yourself some credit where it's due. You saved him. You're still our hero. You're still his hero."Jin's heart lightened up at his maknae's words as he stood up and hugged his youngest. He had to remind himself that the boy's words were true. Despite everything, he did save Yoongi. He owed himself that.As the day progressed, the doctors were finally able to take the IV's out of Yoongi's arm. Although all of his members were in the room, he only wanted to hold Jin's hand while the doctors took the needles out.Sometimes he just needed his big brother. The members were happy to see their brother slowly feel better throughout the day, and they also kept thanking Jin for everything he'd done.As stressful as everything had been surrounding this event, the members knew they'd pull through it. They also knew Yoongi would pull through, because he was one of the strongest people any of them had ever met.Despite their concerns and worries, thanks to Jin making the split second decision to get Yoongi to the hospital when he did, the boy was going to be alright.Everything was going to be alright.[The End]
